A highlight from Episode 16 The Drama of Atheist Humanism Fr. Joseph Fessio S.J., Vivian Dudro, and Joseph Pearce FBC Podcast

"Welcome to the Forum Book Club, or hopefully welcome back because we're towards the middle, beyond the middle of this wonderful book, the drama of atheist humanism by Father Amiri Dubac. And we spend a lot of time on it. It's a long book, but it's full of a lot of very interesting material and insights. And we're now talking about Nietzsche as a prophet, which is chapter... Sorry, Dostoevsky. Dostoevsky is a prophet. Did I say Nietzsche? I'm sorry. Dostoevsky is a prophet. He talked about Nietzsche, Feuerbach, Marx, and Kant as figures in the 19th century who attempted different forms of an atheist humanism, that is, how to enhance man's life by taking God out of the picture. And, excuse me, Dostoevsky is the one who shows that won't work. And we're in chapter two of the section Dostoevsky's Prophet, and Dubach is talking about three kinds of atheism that Dostoevsky is responding to. We talked about the first one, the God -man. We've got the Nietzschean Superman and Obermann. We're on the second one, which is the Tower of Babel, the idea of creating a society without God. The third one will be the House of Glass and the philosophical atheism. So we are on, by my count, on page 325, I thought we got to the Palace of Glass. Am I wrong? I didn't too. I thought we got to the palace. We left off to go to the Palace of Glass next. All right. I'm wrong. I marked it down wrong. That's 334, father. Hey, tell that on tape my saying I'm wrong, but there it is. So what page are we on then? I think page 334. Yeah, that's it. Okay. Joseph, take it away. Okay. Well, just one thing. I think somewhere in the dim recesses of my aging memory, I did know this. I had read this somewhere before, but I'd forgotten. So it was good to be reminded that Vladimir Slovyev, who's often called the Russian Newman, and of course, eventually a convert to Catholicism, which again is itself intriguing considering Kostornyev has his own anti -Catholicism. So on page 334, he says he took an interest in Slovyev's lectures. And then we have the footnote 57, the young philosopher, that's obviously Slovyev and the novelist had been friends since 1873. And then we have, this is Dostoevsky, I am weak in philosophy, but not in the love I have for it. I am strong in the love I have for it. So I just find that sort of something which indles my heart. So to think that there was this affinity between Dostoevsky and this great Russian philosopher who'd become pre -Catholic, often called the Russian Newman, Vladimir Slovyev. I want to just mention that. Okay, that's like someone saying Jesus is weak in theology because he tells stories. But you know, I think Dostoevsky is strong in philosophy, you know, intuitively. He expresses it, you know, in images and in narratives.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer says he'll bring up that supplemental with the aid for the two countries but it will not include the border policy changes that Republicans are demanding. Lori Harvey & Damson Idris Are Officially Over. I Don't Think Anyone Is Surprised

"Welcome to another edition of Convo Over Cigars. I'm your host, Derrick Andre Flemming on a Friday. Let's talk about a big story right now. It's over. According to sources, Damson Idris and Lori Harvey have officially thrown in the towel on their one year relationship. They both issued a joint statement confirming this on, I think it was IG. Now the couple reportedly started dating around December of 2022, later confirming that they were actually together. Damson Idris is the actor and model from the popular FX series Snowfall, which aired its finale on April 19th of 2023. Now, Lori Harvey, for those of you who are not familiar with this young lady, she is the 26 year old stepdaughter of comedian and TV personality Steve Harvey. In a statement released by Damson and Lori Harvey, they said that we are at a point in our lives where our individual paths require our full attention and dedication. So basically we split remaining friends and with the utmost respect for each other. I just think Lori Harvey needs to just take a chill. This woman, you know, and I don't judge, that's not what I do here on Convo Over Cigars, but you know, the past relationship with Michael B. Jordan, other relationships that she has been in with high profile celebrities, we're not gonna really throw under the bus or call names, but she has had her share of celebrity boyfriends. And you know, like I said, this is the stepdaughter of Steve Harvey. I just think she needs to find herself. You know, a lot of times when you get out of a relationship, instead of jumping right back into another relationship, you probably just need to heal. Probably just need to take some time and say, you know, take a deep breath and just be like, I just need to recoup from this because relationships are work, man. You have to recuperate. You have to, you know, get back into that mental space where you need to be. It seems as if she leaves one relationship and jumps right back into another relationship. And I think that's why they never last. So my advice, not that she asked for it, but this is just my opinion here on Convo Over Cigars, Lori Harvey, just take a break and do Lori, you know. Take a painting class or something, you know. Take up some, you know, skiing or something. Find a hobby, man. You don't have to necessarily define yourself by who's on your arm or by trying to find love. Obviously you're not ready to be in a long -term committed relationship. I'm just saying. You guys have been locked in to another edition of Convo Over Cigars. I am your host, Derrick Andre Flemming. I'm hoping that everyone has a fantastic Friday. Take care, guys.

A highlight from SBF Trial, Day 15: Prosecutors Hammer Bankman-Frieds Contradictions With Reams of Evidence

"The paperback version of my book, The Cryptopians, is out now. It contains a new afterword covering recent developments in crypto since 2021, when the book went to press. Plus, this version names the person I suspect to be the DAO hacker. In case you never got to read the book in hardback, or, like me, you like to read paperbacks or bedtime reading, order today. Check our newsletter and the show notes for the link, or just search for it at any of your favorite bookstores. It's The Cryptopians, idealism, greed, lies, and the making of the first big cryptocurrency craze. Thanks for reading. Thanks for tuning in to the day 15 recap of the SPF trial. Sorry it's a little bit late. I had to head to the courthouse at an ungodly hour in order to try to make it into the courtroom on Monday. And while I succeeded, it made me unable to work on the video Monday evening. Sam Bankman -Fried's attorneys ended their direct examination of their client Monday morning, allowing the government to cross -examine SPF for four hours. During that time, Assistant U .S. Attorney Daniel Sassoon relentlessly highlighted contradictions in his testimony against previous statements, severely undermining his credibility and potentially ending Bankman -Fried's chance to win over a single jury member. The prosecution's intense and relentlessly devastating interrogation of the defendant repeatedly SPF's used own words against him. When he would evade her questions or not admit to an act or a statement he had made, she would pull up audio, video, and print interviews of Bankman -Fried, testimony he sent to Congress, memos to himself, internal Alameda or FTX documents, spreadsheets, etc., in which his own words or actions contradicted his testimony. At one point, she raised the fact that the defendant had months to look over the government's evidence. The inference was that he had chosen to testify under oath in contradiction of the evidence anyway. Sassoon's cross -examination was a seemingly endless presentation of direct evidence of SPF's previous statements contradicting his current or recent testimony. She began her questioning by saying, Mr. Bankman -Fried, you testified a bunch about Alameda. Up through November of 2022, you owned 90 % of Alameda, correct? With her voice ringing out clearly in the courtroom. The energy of her statement shouted confidence. Early on, Sassoon questioned whether Bankman -Fried recalled saying in 2022 that he was, quote, walled off from Alameda's trading. He responded, quote, I would say I was not involved for the most part. I would not say I was not involved at all in any way. Pulling up a signal chat composed of Bankman -Fried, Caroline Ellison, Sam Tribuco, and Ben Shia, Sassoon pointed out that, in the messages, Bankman -Fried expressed his desire to buy MAPS tokens to decrease Alameda's time -weighted average price of the asset. Although he did not agree that that was trading, Sassoon also brought up SPF's instructions to Ellison to properly hedge, which he then admitted is a form of trading. Sassoon raised the many media interviews he conducted after FTX's bankruptcy. She got him to agree that, as CEO, it was important for him to be truthful and precise when talking about FTX. Then Sassoon played a clip from a Twitter Spaces in which he said, quote, I was intentionally not getting involved in Alameda because I was concerned about a conflict of interest. She read aloud a part of a Financial Times article about Alameda that said, quote, the FTX founder insisted that he had walled himself off from trading and risk management at the Alameda research trading firm. Another contradiction she pointed out was in his public support for regulation and customer protection versus his private statements on it. She asked him, quote, Do you recall, yes or no, telling your followers on Twitter in October that your support for regulation was contingent upon protecting customers? Though he claimed he did not recall, she showed a tweet from him saying exactly that. Then she showed him contradicting himself by drawing up a screenshot of his Twitter DMs with journalist Kelsey Piper, which were published in Vox. Sassoon read aloud Piper's question, quote, You said a lot of stuff about how you wanted to make regulations, just good ones. Was that pretty much just PR, too? And then Sassoon asked SVF to read aloud the last two texts in his response. He said in front of the jury, quote, Yeah, just PR. Fuck regulators. Sassoon's next question was, quote, You called members of crypto Twitter, which included your own followers and customers, dumb motherfuckers, right? He admitted calling, quote, a specific subset of them in private conversation that way. One recurring theme was Bankman Fried's inability to answer basic questions about FTX. He responded, I may have or something similar to the following questions by Sassoon. You said publicly while you were CEO of FTX that FTX had reformed how crypto exchanges worked, didn't you? You recall saying that you had built a responsible system. Do you recall describing FTX as a thoughtful exchange? Do you recall describing FTX as having a healthy take on risk management? Do you recall saying that you were providing clarity and transparency to the crypto system? Isn't it true you also told customers that there always has been regulation in crypto and we always have had duties? Over and over again in public forums, you described the FTX platform as safe, correct? In October, you also told the public that customers mattered more than anything, didn't you? You even tweeted that lying to customers breaks sacred rules of conduct everyone knows to follow, didn't you? In your testimony, you described how the risk and clearing model for FTX International's platform worked, right? Since he so often claimed to not remember what he had said, Sassoon often showed evidence of his prior statements. For example, she asked SPF to read his tweet from August 9, 2021, which read, quote, and as always, our users' funds and safety comes first. Sassoon also introduced Bankman Fried's testimony in front of Congress in a document titled FTX's Key Principles to emphasize how SPF would lay out how FTX offered protections for investors in a multitude of ways, including the maintenance of adequate liquidity as a means to ensure that customers could withdraw their funds upon request. At point, Spankman Fried led his annoyance with Sassoon's show. For instance, when she asked him to read a phrase on a document, after he read a different part of the text, she redirected him back to the phrase she wanted him to read. Instead of reading it directly, he said, quote, the first word is preventing. The second word is clawbacks. The prosecution showed that SPF's testimony around the government's core allegations was also inconsistent with his prior statements and actions. When the prosecution brought up the Google spreadsheet created by Ellison that had eight tabs, seven containing doctored versions of Alameda's balance sheets, Sassoon's and Bankman Fried's back and forth on whether he remembered the spreadsheet took up four pages of the transcript. He said, quote, I don't recall it being in this particular document. I remember receiving a document that at least looks like one of the tabs on it. I don't remember exactly what it said, etc. Sassoon finally showed the Google metadata, which revealed that he looked at the document on June 19th, 2022. She also pointed out that by the time of his testimony, he knew that the government had gotten metadata from Google about this document. And though she didn't say it, the implication was that he'd chosen to say something under oath that directly contradicted the evidence anyway. Sassoon brought up Bankman Fried's testimony from Thursday's evidentiary hearing, in on what they could do with those funds, that they could buy muffins if they wanted. Then she pointed out that there were rules for when customers could withdraw borrowed funds. They could do so if they had spot margin enabled, and that if they withdrew money, they needed the borrow to be collateralized by assets on the exchange. Although he said he wasn't sure about the rules about collateral on the exchange, she pointed out that that was an essential feature of the liquidation engine, since it could not liquidate assets it could not access. And that, in fact, he had given this testimony to Congress under oath. Under her questioning, he admitted that there was only one customer besides Alameda that was allowed to withdraw money from FTX by pledging outside investments as collateral. That was a firm, Cryptolotus, that he said had a junior employee with whom he was friendly. However, Cryptolotus was allowed to withdraw only $100 million. Later on, she drew up an FTX line of credit agreement. She began reading one of the terms of the agreement, which began, quote, Then, she asked SPF to read one of the points below it to finish the sentence. He said, quote, The prosecution also asked Bankman Fried about his more than $600 million equity stake in the trading app Robinhood. Bankman Fried had purchased a large number of Robinhood shares via Alameda Research, which Notre Dame professor Peter Easton noted was primarily funded by FTX customer money. Sassoon and Bankman Fried had a back and forth to establish whether he was the sole member of Alameda's board of directors, highlighting the defendant's tendency to avoid responding in direct answers. The tension evolved to the point where Judge Kaplan jumped in to clarify, asking Bankman Fried, Sassoon asserted that after FTX declared bankruptcy, SPF filed an affidavit to lay claim to the Robinhood shares. Then she asked him whether FTX customers could access their deposits at the time SPF filed the affidavit. His lawyer, Mark Cohen, objected, and the lawyers went to the sidebar where Sassoon defended her use of the affidavit by saying, Judge Kaplan overruled the objection. Because of the competing versions of SPF's and Sun's testimonies, Allen may provide outside corroboration to one of them. Thanks for tuning in, and for more updates on the finish of the cross -examination, check back on the pod and check my Twitter and YouTube for more real -time updates. Thanks for listening.

A highlight from 1443: LEAKED: BlackRock Will Launch Bitcoin ETF On This Date!

"In today's show, I'll be breaking down the latest Bitcoin technical analysis as Bitcoin beats S &P 500 in October as 40 ,000 Bitcoin price predictions flow in. Also, the Bitcoin price hits all -time highs across Argentina, Nigeria, and Turkey. Let's freaking go. Also in today's show, Binance founder CZ's fortune gets slashed by $12 billion while SPF is still at zero. Also in today's show, bi -Bitcoin search queries on Google surge a whopping 826%, and the United Kingdom also breaking news. Cynthia Lummis leads the charge, calling for the Department of Justice action against Binance and Tether. Quoting Max Keiser in response to this news, the Wall Street Journal story was quickly debunked. The allegations are riseable. The only explanation is that Cynthia Lummis has been corrupted. Not surprising, she has never fully understood Bitcoin, and now we know she is a gun for hire for the fiat money terrorists and central bankers. The real terrorists, sad, but not surprising. I will pray for her. Shout out to the high priest of Bitcoin. Also in today's show, breaking news, BlackRock takes the apparent next big step in the Bitcoin ETF. That's right. Quoting Eric Balchunes, the ETF expert from Bloomberg, BlackRock stating in their recent spot Bitcoin ETF amendment that they are seeding the ETF in October. Don't want to read that much into it, but it is new info, not in the original filing. So it's noteworthy, especially because is BlackRock. You're damn right. I'm going to be sharing BlackRock's Bitcoin game plan. And did you know that BlackRock CEO Larry Fink exactly six years ago said Bitcoin is an index of money laundering. Now Larry Fink today is racing to launch the Bitcoin ETF and sees crypto as a flight to quality. We'll also be taking a look at the overall crypto market. All this plus so much more in today's show. Yo, what's good crypto fam? This is first and foremost, a video show. So if you want the full premium experience with video, visit my YouTube channel at cryptonewsalerts .net. Again, that's cryptonewsalerts .net. Welcome everyone. This is pod episode number 1443. I'm your host, JV. And today is October 27th, 2023. And naturally we got lots to cover. So let's dive right in and kick off today's show with our market watch as we do each and every day. So you should be able to see on the screen here, coin 360. We got Bitcoin pulling back some just under the cusp of $34 ,000. We still have Ethereum, BNB, Solana, XRP and Cardano in the green thus far for the day. And check it out coinmarketcap .com. The current crypto market cap sits at 1 .26 trillion with roughly 38 billion in volume in the past 24 hours. The Bitcoin dominance has been on the climb currently at 53 % even with the ether dominance at 17 .1%. I'd love to know your thoughts. How high do you think the Bitcoin dominance is likely to climb for this bull market? Now checking out the top 100 crypto gainers of the past 24 hours, NIO is leading the pack up 16%. And I'm not talking about NIO from the matrix. We're talking about the crypto trading at $8 .85, followed by Injective up 13%, trading at $13 .38, followed by Floki up 12%, trading at virtually nothing. Now also checking out here, Crypto Bubbles, we can see the top 100 crypto gainers for the past week. Overall, it's a sea of green, which we love to see. Only a handful in the red. We have the top gainers here being NIO and Injective as well. And checking out one of my favorite indicators is the crypto greed and fear index. We're currently rated a 70 in greed. Yesterday was a 71, last week a 53, which is neutral. And last month, a 44 in fear. So there you have it, fam. How many of you are currently bullish on the King crypto? Let me know and make some noise. Now let's dive into our Bitcoin technical analysis. Check out the charts where the Bitcoin price action is likely to go next. I'll give you a hint. $40 ,000. Send it and let's freaking go. Again, shout out to everyone just joining us in the live chat. As you can see here, Bitcoin surfed $34 ,000 at the October 27th Wall Street open as attention turned to the Bitcoin price performance against macro assets, as we can see here in the Bitcoin one hour candle chart. Now, data from Cointelegraph and TradingView showed Bitcoin holding steady, preserving its early weak gains. Bitcoin avoided significant volatility as the weekly and monthly closes, which is a key moment for the October uptrend. And it's been a hell of an October, wouldn't you say? Quoting Dan Crypto Trades here, I think Bitcoin will hang around this range for some time. He also shared roughly 33, the 35 ,000 is what I'm looking at as a range. Eyes on a sweep of any of these levels for a quick trade. And he shows you the low range, the mid range, as well as the high range. Dan, nonetheless, noted that open interest had recovered near levels last seen during the sudden uptick, which sent Bitcoin to 17 month highs. And as reported, open interest highs had formed a feature of the Bitcoin price squeezes during the prior weeks, quoting Dan Crypto Trades right here. Bitcoin open interest on Bybit has almost recovered to the level before the massive short squeeze this week. During that squeeze, we saw a 21 % decrease in open interest on Bybit, which was worth four hundred and fifty million dollars. Elsewhere, on chain monitoring resource material indicators flagged the downside signal on its proprietary trading instruments. And with two such daily signals currently in place, material indicators said that only a move to thirty eight thousand eight hundred and fifty would invalidate the bearish implication. And he continued, that doesn't mean we can't go there before the monthly candle closes, as he outlines here on this ex post alongside this chart. Now, more optimistic perspectives came from the macroeconomic comparisons. Many analysts projecting forty thousand incoming, including Crypto Calio, noting Bitcoin had outperformed the S &P considerably since September, with the odds of continued Bitcoin price upside still a good result. Quitting him here over the course of the past month, we have finally seen the bullish decoupling from Bitcoin from equities that everyone was waiting for. That's right. Bitcoin is on its own vector, does its own thing, and it don't care about the rest of the market. As he shares here, while Bitcoin is up only thirty six percent versus USD from the September lows, Bitcoin is up forty eight percent versus the SPX, and we're now up roughly one hundred and ten percent for the year. Not too shabby. And in a chart he shared here comparing Bitcoin to the S &P with key recent events of the Bitcoin history marked, Calio argues that there was plenty of fuel left in the tank for a move higher to forty thousand. I agree. Let me know if you agree to disagree with the analysts. Others focus on the significance of the recent resistance levels being within days of flipping to weekly and monthly support. Quoting Matthew Hyland, not sure how anyone can look at this Bitcoin chart objectively and conclude that breaking through thirty thousand or thirty two thousand is no big deal. One hundred percent. He also shared the last line of hope for them is the weekly and monthly closing below. So there we have it. This month is only four days left. And guess what is right around the corner? It's the birthday of Bitcoin. It was launched on Halloween Day, I believe, October thirty first of what was it, two thousand and nine. Crack me if I'm wrong. I'm guessing that's when the Genesis block was. And lo and behold, we're only four days away from Halloween. And we're not too far away from eleven eleven, November eleventh, which is the official Bitcoin day, which I declare maybe I'll share some more about Bitcoin day being a national holiday here a little later on in the show. Welcome to y 'all just joining us. Let me know if you're currently bullish or bearish on the King crypto. And do you think we can continue to soaring in November with this bullish momentum? Let me know your thoughts in the comments right down below. Now let's break down our next story of the day, and that's Bitcoin reaching all time highs in many countries around the world as all fiat currencies will eventually go to zero against BTC. Check this out. The price of Bitcoin was notched to new all time highs against some of the world's most inflationary fiat currencies across 30 hours over October twenty third and the twenty fourth. The cost of buying one Bitcoin reached all time highs using the Argentine peso, the Nigerian naira and the Turkish lira. Now, Lauten Kip and the Egyptian pound. Very interesting. I mean, Bitcoin's breaking out to all time highs everywhere. However, it should be noted that the result is due to the ongoing devaluation of currencies exasperated by Bitcoin's recent 16 percent surge. Now, the naira and the lira fell to their lowest points against the US dollar on the twenty fourth and the twenty fifth, while the peso is only point eight five percent off its all time low against the US dollar. And according to the IMF, the Venezuelan Bolivar currently has the highest annual inflation rate at three hundred and sixty percent. Could you imagine living over there and having hyperinflation occur at a three hundred and sixty percent increase month over month? That's pure insanity. Followed by the Zimbabwe dollar at three hundred and fourteen percent and the Sundanese pound at two hundred and fifty six percent, followed by the Argentine OSI at one hundred and twenty two percent. Now, the Turkish lira and the Nigerian naira came in sixth and fifteenth with the annual inflation rates of fifty one and twenty five percent, respectively, according to the IMF data. Now, crypto observers have long seen digital assets such as Bitcoin and stable coins as a hedge against rocketing inflation, and recent figures could bolster that narrative. Yeah, I would say now Nigeria, Turkey and Argentina boast the second twelfth and fifteenth highest rates of crypto adoption worldwide, according to a September twelfth report by Chainalysis, including the Giga Chad and chairman and founder of MicroStrategy, Michael Saylor, with inflation at ninety nine percent in Argentina. And this was back on February 15th when he made this tweet. It's ninety nine percent in Argentina, likely what the citizens of the beautiful country would benefit from Bitcoin. That's right. So why are all these citizens in these countries where hyperinflation is breaking out, moving to Bitcoin? I think that's why adoption is increasing drastically in places and countries like Nigeria. For example, Nigeria is finally becoming more welcoming to cryptos after its central bank banned local banks from providing services to crypto exchanges in February of twenty twenty one. Progress was made December of twenty twenty two when Nigeria announced its intention to pass a bill recognizing crypto currencies as a capital for investment, citing the need to keep up with global practices as one of the main reasons behind its change in stance. Now, while Turkey is home of some of the most crypto curious people, its central bank banned crypto payments for goods and services in April of twenty twenty one. It has also been working on a central bank digital currency, which we know is a CDC to digitalize the Turkish lira in the recent years. And as we all know, Bitcoin is the antidote to the CDC. So just say no to central bank digital currencies, aka program programmable fiat programmable dollars by the central bankers. Meanwhile, Argentina's inflation crisis could be influenced by the outcome of its presidential election in November, with presidential candidate Javier Malay set to face competitor Sergei Massa in a final runoff vote November 19th. That's just a few weeks out. Fam, hopefully Malay wins the presidency because Argentina has a massive population. This would help usher in massive Bitcoin adoption. Now, Massa, who currently serves as the country's minister of the economy, wants Argentina to launch a CDC as soon as possible to solve the country's long lasting inflation crisis. Now, we all know not going to solve that. Bitcoin is the only way to solve these problems. That's why we need Javier Malay to become president. Now, quoting Peter Schiff, Argentina's president provides a glimpse into America's future, where the central bank raised interest rates, 15 percentage points to 133 percent October 12th. But with inflation running at 138 percent and budget deficits and debt rising, the rate hikes will have no effect on reducing inflation. So there you have it. Now, he also voiced an intention to keep the U .S. dollar away from Argentines, explaining that Argentine should instead be patriots and defend the Argentine peso. I think that's hogwash. That's why we need to vote Malay fam. Malay, on the other hand, wants the U .S. dollar to be adopted in addition to abolishing Argentina's central bank. Hey, anyone who is calling for the abolishment of a central bank is pro bitcoins. That's what's up. We need pro bitcoin presidents like Najib Bukele, not more presidents like corrupted mofos like Sleepy Joe. Just saying, fam. Now let's break down our next breaking story of the day. And that is the richest man in crypto is CZ. It's no secret, but his fortune is getting slashed. And now there is FUD coming from Senator Cynthia Lummis. We're going to touch upon the FUD a little later, which I think is just bat -ish crazy. But nonetheless, here's the latest with the fortune of the richest man in crypto, CZ, the owner of Binance. So here we go. Binance co -founder and CEO CZ has seen his net worth slashed by almost 12 billion dollars amid the following trading volumes of his exchange Binance. October 26, the Bloomberg Billionaires Index cut Binance's revenue estimates by 38 percent amid a slump in the exchange volumes, which knocked CZ down to 95th place on the rich list. I think this is all by design. What are your thoughts? And I find it all interesting while the ongoing trial of SPF is taking place and he's actually testifying. Today is the last day of the court case, FYI. Now, CZ's net worth is now 17 .3 billion, not too shabby, registering an 82 percent drop from his 96 billion dollar peak in January of 2022. That was roughly two months after we hit the top of 69000 in Bitcoin. Naturally, with CZ being one of the larger hodlers of Bitcoin. So this ranked him amongst the 11th most richest people in the world, which leads me to believe the first trillionaire is going to be a Bitcoiner. Don't you think so? I think the first trillionaire will surpass the fortune of Bezos, Elon and all those other fools. Just saying. Bloomberg's index calculated Binance's revenues from spot and derivatives trading data from crypto data aggregators CoinGecko and CoinPop Rica. And as of September, the exchanges spot trading market share had fallen for seven consecutive months to 34 percent. And in January, the Binance spot market share was over 55 percent. Now, Binance U .S., its United States base arm, also saw volumes touch new lows last month. That's due to the SEC going after them clearly. Now, CZ's plummeting net worth and Binance's fading trading volumes follow twin lawsuits from the U .S. SEC and CFTC. Attack, attack. Very clear. The SEC sued CZ, Binance and Binance U .S. in June, claiming the exchanges operated illegally, sold unregistered securities and mishandled customer assets, with CZ named as their controlling person. Now, the CFTC suit in March claimed Binance did not properly register with the regulator. CZ and Binance reject both the regulator's allegations and seek to dismiss both lawsuits. Now, the recent fall pales compared to CZ's rival, Bankman Fried, who saw his 16 billion dollar fortune effectively wiped out November of 2022 after FTX disclosed this liquidity crisis just days before it filed for bankruptcy. And what makes this also very interesting, of course, Bankman Fried was considered one of the richest in the world, also on the Forbes rich list. And then just like that, in a matter of weeks after FTX collapsed, they filed bankruptcy. And now he's worth a big fat zero and most likely going to be facing some prison time and some other harsh punishments for the crimes he committed. We'll see how that all plays out. Hopefully we have some insights by next week on how the court trial has gone, as it's been going ongoing for the past two to three weeks. And with that being shared, fam, now let's break down the next story of the day and discuss by Bitcoin searches are going parabolic, which is a sign of the times that the bull market is here. It's like deja vu all down. Then we'll dive into the latest Cynthia Lemus Fudd and BlackRock ETF news, along with their date of when the ETF is likely to get the approval, followed by some live Q &A. Here we go. Google searches for buy Bitcoin have surged worldwide amid the major crypto rally, with searches in the UK growing by more than 800 percent in the last week. Now, how many of you are tuning in right now from the UK? Let me know. And how does it feel the sentiment of Bitcoin in your country? Yeah, I mean, let me know. According to research from Crypto Gambling TV, the search term by Bitcoin spiked by a staggering 826 percent in the UK over the course of seven days, quitting them here. The remarkable surge in by Bitcoin searches in the UK, combined with the crypto's resurgence, underscores the growing interest and potential impact a traditional financial institutions involvement of the world of digital assets. Now, while users in the UK led the pack, there was also noticeable increases in searches relating to purchasing Bitcoin from Web users all across the globe. According to data from Google Trends, searches from users in the United States for should I buy Bitcoin now increased by more than 250 percent. Let's go. While more niche searches, including can I buy Bitcoin on Fidelity, increased over thirty one hundred percent in the last week. That's because Fidelity is massively bullish on the king crypto. And they're the ones that put forth the billion dollar Bitcoin price prediction, which I covered here in the show. And zooming out further, the search term, is it a good time to buy Bitcoin? So I 100 percent plus gain worldwide over the last week. And in comparison, searches for BlackRock Bitcoin ETF also jumped 250 percent, demonstrating the broader enthusiasm for information relating to BlackRock spot Bitcoin ETF, which is currently pending approval, which all eyes are on the ETF right now. The sudden uptick of interest comes amid a drastic increase in the price of Bitcoin over the past fortnight, with Bitcoin briefly surpassing the value of thirty five thousand on October 24th. In fact, I think the local highs roughly thirty five thousand two hundred. The excitement appears closely linked to the approval of a spot Bitcoin ETF, which many pundits believe will unleash a fresh wave of buying from the institutions. Now, senior ETF analyst Eric Valchunas and James Safart have pinned the probability of an approval at 90 percent by January 10th of 2024, quoting James Safart here on X. I've gotten a lot of questions regarding my current view on spot Bitcoin ETFs over the last couple of weeks. This is the first section of the note I put out yesterday with Eric Valchunas. Now, obviously, he shared there is a 90 percent chance of the approval for ARK's January 10th deadline, which is going to be coming up here soon. And at this time, we have Bitcoin up now more than 27 percent for the past two weeks as October continues in full effect. And guess what? The month is yet to be over. So October for the win. Let's freakin go. Now, let's break down our next breaking news of the day. And I'm a little shocked to hear the FUD that Lummis has turned into a traitor. She has been. What's the word we're looking for here that Max Kaiser loves to use? The word is she has been corrupted. So, yeah, Max Kaiser calling her out. So much respect to the high priests of Bitcoin. I don't respect anyone pushing this Bitcoin FUD and narrative. Obviously, it's not a good look. And it goes to show you that any of the senators can be corrupted, just like Cynthia Lummis. So let's start with the actual tweet, which got this whole thing started. I think I have it saved somewhere here.

Matthew Hyland Najib Bukele James Safart Eric Balchunes November 19Th October 26 June February 15Th Max Keiser Massa Michael Saylor November Of 2022 Sergei Massa October 24Th Peter Schiff Javier Malay Eric Valchunas 17 .3 Billion Larry Fink 138 Percent

"Okay, I think we're just about there, live oh hello ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls welcome to VUX World, it's getting cold now, I don't know whether it's cold where you are, if you're in a more tropical climate perhaps not but I'm with a cup of tea and I'm getting ready for the winter. Harry Potter season has started now in my household, building up to Halloween, which I don't usually celebrate as such, whether you can celebrate Halloween I don't know but this year Gemma has definitely gone overboard on pumpkins and all that kind of stuff so I'm feeling very autumnal right now, I've got my orange fiery shirt and we're good to go and so thank you for tuning in, thank you for joining us and if you're listening to this before Thursday the 19th I would recommend you join us for the webinar that we're doing with Feral Insights and Core .ai and in there we're going to be diving into two pieces of research that Feral Insights have done on behalf of Core .ai, one is looking at customer perceptions of artificial intelligence, current adoption of intelligent virtual assistants, how do people feel when they interact with them, is it a preferred channel or not and a second study is related to agent adoption of AI and the challenges and problems that agent customer service agents are facing and how that has a direct impact on your customer experience. So these two studies are like two ends of the kind of, two sides of the same coin basically, to provide good customer experience you need to provide good agent experience and so we're going to dive into all of the ways in which you can utilise AI to do that. It's the first thing really I've seen which is doing a study specifically looking at agents because most of the time agents seem to just be kind of completely forgotten about and it's like they're the ones that apparently are going to lose their jobs and all this kind of stuff where no one's actually sat down and said let's go and talk to these agents, figure out what challenges they actually face, figure out how we can use technology to make their lives easier and then what will the impact be on our customers and at the same time when customers are trying to contact us what challenges are they facing, some of which we know about, long wait times, getting passed around a post, all that kind of stuff. So basically on Thursday if you are interested in finding out the details behind this research, if you're interested in figuring out what AI based solutions work for customers and also what agents are saying about their challenges and how technology can help them, then you can go to vux .world and click on the events tab, you can sign up there and we'll see you this Thursday. If you're listening after Thursday you can still catch it on replay, still just go to vux .world, go to the events tab and sign up and we'll send you the video. Alright now then without further ado please welcome boys and girls my guest today is Ronald Rubens who is the founder and CEO of Sentio CX that are finding a very, you could call it a niche very specific area within the conversational AI tech stack, within the conversational AI ecosystem if you like, that hasn't been resolved yet, until now perhaps. Ladies and gentlemen please welcome Ronald to the vux .world podcast. Thank you so much Cain, thanks for the warm introduction. No worries, thank you for joining me, thanks for being here. So we'll get into the details behind that rather cryptic introduction in a moment, but first maybe we could be good to hear from you Ron in terms of your background and tell us a little bit about who you are. Yep no absolutely happy to do so. Yeah so I've been in the customer experience space for about a little bit over 25 years, worked for a variety of companies, led the European organization for Avaya and before that also worked for a few startups to bring them into Europe. But basically around the corona time what I realized was that customer service actually deteriorated, and a lot of enterprise customers or energy companies, airlines and what have you, insurance companies they were pushing people to communicate with a bot or a conversational AI platform.

A highlight from LGM Podcast: Citizens of a Stolen Land

"In the course of an entire graduate training, I was introduced to maybe two or three books in Native American history, and I studied the 19th century United States. That's stunning. This is the Lawyers, Guns, and Money podcast. Hello, and welcome to the Lawyers, Guns, and Money podcast. This is Eric Loomis, and today we're very, happy to have Stephen Kantrovitz with us. He is a professor of history at the University of Wisconsin, and he's the author of three main books, all of which I think are fantastic, and which all of you should read, that have kind of defined a pretty lengthy career now in mid to late 19th century American history. The first was Ben Tillman and the Reconstruction of White Supremacy that came out in 2000, and if you thought Ben Tillman was a terrible person before, you will find out even more about that. And then there was More Than Freedom, Fighting for Black Citizenship in a White Republic, 1829 to 1899, which I just really love. But we're talking about his latest book, which came out earlier this year, Citizens of Stolen Land, a Ho -Chunk History of the 19th Century United States. It's published by the University of North Carolina Press, and I very strongly encourage all of you to buy it. Steve, thanks for joining us today. It's great to be here. Would you talk about the book, give our readers kind of an overview of how you came to this topic, and what you, in a minute or two, would like a reader to take from this? Sure. This book concerns the struggles of the Ho -Chunk people, whose homeland encompasses a lot of what's today Wisconsin and a lot more, and their encounter with the United States, its settlers, its government, its armies, mainly in the mid -19th century. And it's a story, in some ways, a familiar story of conflict and dispossession and exile and banishment. But it's also a story of persistence, endurance, return, and their continued residence on their ancestral homeland, despite the fact that they had no treaty claim or other claim to that land after 1837. So it's a pretty remarkable story of a people's determination to remain in a place. It's also a story about the implications of that history for the way we think about and understand American citizenship. So it's kind of a through -the -looking -glass story for people who are not well versed in Native American history, but who think they know something about American citizenship, because Native citizenship, as imagined by the federal government, is primarily a means of detribalization and land -taking. But in this instance, the Ho -Chunk are able to leverage a combination of their own desire to remain in Wisconsin, their ability to understand the incoherence at the core of the federal project of civilization, and the very hazy language around their status under the Citizenship Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, and put those things together and completely thwart the final act of the federal government in the 1870s in its final attempt to remove them from Wisconsin and banish them to Nebraska. So it's a story that kind of upends a conventional narrative of citizenship, especially for readers who think they understand the Civil War era history of that pretty well.

A highlight from Bitcoins Most EXPLOSIVE Bull Market Ever Is Coming! (Here's Why)

"Last week, on October 16th, we watched Bitcoin jump from just below 28k all the way to $30 ,000 in less than 10 minutes on the release of a fake report by Cointelegraph. That fake report was going to be the BlackRock ETF apparently finally launching. Then late Monday night on October 23rd, we saw prices absolutely destroy resistance and hit $35 ,000. All of this explosive price action has come from an excitement about the incoming Bitcoin ETF. It has gotten a lot of people interested in the prediction of what will be in fact happening when these ETFs are finally approved. Now while no one can give the exact number of when the bull market is going to top, in this video we are going to be diving deeper at the surrounding circumstances as well as how much money could actually flow into Bitcoin's price action to help you better understand just how significant these ETFs are and why this bull market just might be the most explosive one yet. It's time to discover crypto. Now before we get too far, let's make sure we lay the basis of what an actual ETF is. An ETF is a publicly traded investment vehicle that tracks the performance of an underlying asset or index. This is different from a stock because stocks only track the price action of one company. ETFs are a popular way for investors to get exposure to the value of an asset like gold or oil. They usually trade on traditional stock exchanges and their value should rise and fall when the asset increases or decreases in price. Now the first ETF launched all the way back in 1993 and they quickly became a popular way for investors to invest into a basket of assets all at once. More than likely you have heard of this ETF, it's called the S &P 500. When you purchase the S &P 500, instead of buying shares in 500 separate companies, the singular ETF lets you gain exposure to all of them combined all with one purchase. While we have had Bitcoin futures ETFs for a while now, which allow investors to trade future price action of Bitcoin, the news is currently flooded with stories about Bitcoin spot ETFs. A spot ETF is where a centralized entity like BlackRock purchases a large amount of Bitcoin, but then allows other investors to use the stock market to invest in Bitcoin at specific price and also take profit. But the Bitcoin would always belong to BlackRock, not the investor. Effectively, you could invest in the price movement at Bitcoin at any given price immediately without having or ever worrying about actually holding that crypto yourself. If you ever heard of the phrase, not your keys, not your crypto, BlackRock is essentially going to be holding and purchasing all of your crypto for you. Now for those of you who are currently holding Bitcoin and have learned about the advantages of self -custody, you might be asking why wouldn't the masses as well as the institutional investors just buy their own Bitcoin? Well while it seems like that should be simple, it actually can be a little complicated. While I personally would always advocate for self -custody, there are a couple of reasons that somebody would prefer an ETF. One of the biggest reasons is going to be just because of regulation, but they also may just not want to have to deal with the risks that come with and all of the burdens of self -custody ownership of a spot Bitcoin. An ETF would be approved by regulators and managed by a firm that would buy and hold the Bitcoin on their behalf. So they have nothing to worry about at all. In July of 2013, the Winklevoss twins with their Bitcoin trust filed for the first Bitcoin ETF proposal ever in the United States, yes, 10 years ago. It was rejected along with every other subsequent proposal for years. Then came along the ProShares Bitcoin strategy ETF and that became the first Bitcoin futures ETF available in the United States on October 19th of 2021. The purpose Bitcoin ETF used the trading ticker BTCC and made its debut in Toronto in early 2021. According to its issue purpose Investments Inc, this ETF invest directly in physical slash digital Bitcoin. And that's where things stand of as today. As I said before, there is a Bitcoin's futures ETF available on the US market, but not yet a spot Bitcoin ETF. But if the SEC does and has approved a Bitcoin futures ETF that claims to be investing directly into Bitcoin, then why hasn't it approved a spot Bitcoin ETF just yet? Well, that's the question. I think it's shocking that we don't have a better answer to that question. Nobody really knows. There have been a lot of applications, several rounds of frustrating congressional testimony by his ugliness, Darth Gensler, the vague. But none of this has actually ever yielded anything concrete other than a reluctance to allow Bitcoin to further integrate into the existing financial system. Now, Gary Gensler, everybody's favorite human being, got his start at Goldman Sachs. And there has been a lot of speculation that Gary Gensler wants to become the secretary of the Treasury after Janet Yellen. This would allow him to do the bidding of his old buddies on Wall Street. In other words, he's deliberately stalling while trade five bankers scramble up to catch up and bring the market centralized options to compete with Bitcoin. J .P. Morgan, for example, deployed its JPM coin for corporate clients in Europe in June of twenty twenty three and has been rushing the rollout of its onyx coin systems to the market. Now, no one can actually say for sure, but from the outside looking in, it sure seems like something corrupt is going on somewhere. I mean, it's never like JP Morgan's committed market manipulation in the past. Now, the SEC is currently reviewing applications for spot Bitcoin ETFs from the likes of Blackrock, Wisdom Tree, Invesco, Galaxy, Wise Origin, Vanick, Bitwise and Valkyrie digital assets. They recently delayed all of these again, but they are going to have to either finally approve or deny many of them by March of twenty twenty four. Oddly enough, this falls very close on the calendar to the estimated date of the next Bitcoin halving, which is currently projected to take place near the end of April twenty twenty four. And even more interesting, during a panel discussion on ETFs at CC Data's Digital Assets Summit in London, former BlackRock managing director Steven Schoenfeld, and I don't know if I'm butchering that name, who now serves as the CEO of Market Vector Indexes, predicted that the US SEC will approve a spot Bitcoin ETF within three to six months. Another ex BlackRock director, Martin Bednal, now CEO of Jacobi Asset Management, speaking at the same time at the same event, said that he also believes the SEC will approve all of these Bitcoin ETFs together. Now, this is to avoid any signs of market manipulation and make sure that BlackRock's not looked at as the favorite from the SEC. But if the approval of all these spot ETFs syncs up with a 50 percent reduction in a new issuance of Bitcoin, that could provide the basis of a very powerful bull run, a huge drop in supply, combined with a vast amount of new capital entering the Bitcoin market and generating demand. But how much demand? How much are we really talking about? And how much would the price actually move? Well, the combined market caps of these firms is around seventeen point eight trillion dollars. Yes, that's a lot of capital. The assets under management and all of this is hard to capture exactly because companies like Vanguard, State Street and BlackRock all have leaders who sit on each other's boards and they all effectively own each other in some way or another. Now, this makes it pretty hard to precisely estimate. However, going back to Stephen Schoenfeld, who may have mentioned before, says that his into Bitcoin, specifically into investment products over the next three years. Now, Bernstein estimates that the crypto fund management industry will grow to over five hundred billion dollars of assets in the next five years. And then there are lasered eyed maxis like Michael Saylor who think that Bitcoin is just going to go to infinity. So what's realistic to expect in terms of inflows and how much would that move the price of Bitcoin? Well, again, this is tough to say. But in March of twenty twenty one, Bank of America published a research note with some interesting observations on the subject. They claim that, quote, Bitcoin is extremely sensitive to increased dollar demand. They claim that it would take at least two billion dollars worth of inflows to move the price of gold by one percent and over two point two five billion to move 20 year plus treasury bonds by one percent. Thank God we print money. But Bitcoin was much easier. The analyst said, we estimate a net influence of Bitcoin of just ninety three million dollars would result in a price appreciation of one percent. He also added, looking at detailed block chain records, we find that the largest addresses have not been selling in aggregate since the beginning of the pandemic. That was back in twenty twenty one. And since then, whales have continued accumulating and supply held by long term Bitcoin holders has hit an all time high. So the supply of Bitcoin is still decreasing and Bitcoin is still very sensitive to increased spot demand. So let's have some fun and do a little bit of moon math. If we're looking at investment firms with a combined total of seventeen point seven trillion dollars of assets, let's say that they move just about one percent of that money into spot Bitcoin. That would be about one hundred and seventy seven billion dollars worth of new capital inflows into spot Bitcoin using Bank of America's estimate of about 90 million dollars to move Bitcoin up one percent in price. That would mean that in one year, the price of Bitcoin would rise a little bit over nineteen hundred percent. Now, at today's price levels of about thirty four thousand dollars per Bitcoin, a one thousand nine hundred percent increase over one year would put Bitcoin comfortably over the six hundred and forty thousand dollar price level. That to me seems wildly bullish and way too high. And I want to emphasize that there's a lot of estimation and assumption going into that calculation. But there is no guarantee that these spot Bitcoin purchases are going to be market orders and directly impact that price. And there's no way to know how much selling might be done once these numbers start to run up. Still, though, there's no denying that the mass approval of spot Bitcoin ETFs, combined with a new Bitcoin halving, would bring about a huge increase in demand alongside a huge reduction of supply, very similar to what we saw in 2004 November when Gold launched their ETF in the November of that year. That's just what I think. Let me know down in the comments how you think all of this is going to play out. Will the SEC approve a spot Bitcoin ETF or continue to keep them shut out of the market? And how much money do you think institutions are going to be bringing into Bitcoin once the ETF actually gets approved? Or do you think secretly they're already accumulating? That's all I got for this one. Make sure to smash that like button and subscribe to the channel to keep yourself educated on all things crypto. That being said, I'll see you all at the top.

A highlight from LST6 The Suffering Holy Face of Jesus The Letters of St. Therese of Lisieux with Fr. Timothy Gallagher Discerning Hearts Podcast

"Discerninghearts .com in cooperation with the Oblates of the Virgin Mary presents the letters of Saint Therese of Lisieux with Father Timothy Gallagher. Father Gallagher is a member of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary a religious community dedicated to retreats and spiritual direction according to the spiritual exercises of Saint Ignatius of Loyola. He is featured on several series found on the eternal word television network. He is also author of numerous books on the spiritual teachings of Saint Ignatius of Loyola and the venerable Bruno Lanteri founder of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary as well as other works focused on aspects of the spiritual life. The letters of Saint Therese of Lisieux with Father Timothy Gallagher. I'm your host, Chris McGregor. This next letter takes us to about a year later. Therese is now 19, Celine to whom she's writing is 23. Their father is still in the institution, a letter which also pertains to this correspondence in which Therese is encouraging Celine as she lives with this and is the family person who is there trying to handle all of this. Dear Celine, formerly in the days of our childhood we used to enjoy our feast. Now this letter is written on October 19th which is just a few days after the feast of Saint Teresa of Avila October 15th so that's the feast to which Therese refers here. Our feast because three of them are in the caramel and again in Therese's mind Celine will be joining them when it's possible. We used to enjoy our feast because of the little gifts we mutually exchanged. The smallest object then had an incomparable value in our eyes. Soon the scene changed. Wings grew on the youngest of the birds. Therese slips into metaphor very easily you know even the little flower over and over again she will write with metaphor. Wings grew on the youngest of the birds which is a reference to her entrance into caramel and it flew away far from the sweetness of its childhood and all illusion vanished as we've seen already now. Summer had followed spring, life's reality, the dreams of youth. Celine was it not at that decisive moment that the bonds which joined our hearts were tightened. This is Therese. Here is Celine who is feeling left out. The others are in the caramel. Even the remaining sister Leonie is now attempting yet a third time to enter religious life at this point or she will be shortly and Celine feels as though she's the one left behind and feels as though again she's lost Therese in some sense because of the deep intimacy between them of course changes once Therese enters out of the caramel. So Therese knowing that speaks right to that. Was it not at that decisive moment when I left and entered caramel that the bonds that joined our hearts were actually tightened. Yes separation united us in a way that language cannot express as I've said she'll often say that. Our childlike affection was changed into a union of feelings a unity of souls and mind as a maturity and deepening taking place. Who then could have accomplished this marvel? Ah, it was he who had ravished our hearts. Now she's going to quote from John of the Cross and then from the Song of Songs two sources that are very dear to her. The beloved chosen among thousands the odor alone of his ointments suffices to draw us after him. John of the Cross was very central for her and she says that when she was about 17 and 18 that was really all that she read and as far as we can see she didn't read systematically but by instinct she moved toward the living flame of love and the spiritual canticle. So her focus was less on the ascetical road toward self emptying that leads toward love and her heart just moved immediately right to where her heart was drawn. Most of her quotes from John of the Cross and there are many. In fact a whole book has been written on this. Her understanding of and use of John of the Cross are from the living flame of love and the spiritual canticle. Interestingly enough one Carmelite scholar suggests that that's the proper way to read John of the Cross. Most of us I know I did this myself and I wish I had learned this counsel at the time. I had the project of reading John of the Cross and so I read The Dark Night and The Ascent and found it pretty difficult you know and this scholar's suggestion is no do what Therese did. Start with the living flame of love and the spiritual canticle. See the beauty of the goal and then go back and see the pathway toward it. Well Therese by instinct does that. Jesus has attracted us together although by different ways. Together different ways. I'm in the Carmel. You're still in the world. Together he has raised us above all the fragile things of this world whose image passes away. He has placed so to speak all things under our feet like Zacchaeus. Now you'll see as we go through this letter and it's one reason why I quote it how Therese and now she's just none of this is studied. She's just as she said in the letter to her and I just write as my heart dictates but we'll see that she never goes very long without citing scripture. In fact if you look at a story of a soul you see the same thing. In the Carmel there were hours of personal prayer every day. There was the time of the recitation of the Divine Office periodically throughout the day but there were also hours of personal prayer. Therese at one point was given a book of prayers a part of which contained the entirety of the New Testament. At one point I even drew this out for myself because I wanted to see what this meant. The last 216 pages of this manual for the Christian as it was called contained the entirety of the New Testament. Therese separated that from the rest of the book made it an appropriate cover for it and she always kept that with her. She kept it in a pocket of her habit and she used it and her prayer. In those hours of prayer we can just see her reading the New Testament especially the Gospels but over and over and over again until it became the stuff as it were of her spiritual life. Later even the reading of John of the Cross faded somewhat for her and the Gospels became the single source of reading that she would do. She's a witness to faithful daily absorption of the Scriptures and especially the Gospels. You know how Pope Francis is always asking us have a Bible with have a New Testament with you and you know how to say things like what would happen if we opened the New Testament as often as we open our phones. Therese does this so she has the New Testament with her and she absorbs it profoundly and really you kind of see the roots of Therese as a doctor of the church here. She reads it with an originality she sees meanings in Scripture. Things for example like when she's speaking about love your enemies and she applies that to other sisters in the Carmel who are not her enemies but are just humanly difficult in one way or another for her. She does this consistently she'll see applications of the Scriptures and they open up for her in ways that are very rich and you'll see that in this letter repeatedly. Do we know there if was a favorite of the Gospels you know some tend towards the Synoptics others towards John or maybe Luke Matthew Mark and or was it just a complete package for her do you think? We'd really have to turn to the real scholars to answer that thoroughly. As far as I can say from my own reading I just see her speaking of the Gospels as a unity and then quoting from all of the Gospels whether there was a preference in one way or another for one of the others I wouldn't be able to say you know with precision.

A highlight from The Disruptive Entrepreneur - risk something

"In this episode, I speak to the disruptive entrepreneur, Rob Moore. Rob is a millionaire entrepreneur, serial podcaster, author, and philanthropist. In this fascinating and inspiring conversation, we talk about how Rob had shifted his mindset towards entrepreneurism. He emphasizes the importance of taking risks, overcoming self -doubt, and not worrying about others' people's opinions in order to achieve greatness. Rob began his own entrepreneurial journey, starting with £50 ,000 worth of debt. And now he has a successful portfolio and multiple businesses. Listen up to discover how that became possible. I create clear thinking and decisive leaders who can amplify their influence. Contact me to find out how I can help you or your organization. And today our guest is Rob Moore. How are you doing, Rob? Good, Judith. All good. Excellent, Rob. What's your favorite book? Of all time ever. Yeah, why not? Okay, well actually, I just did a TikTok today called Four Books That Made Me a Millionaire. Wow. And it's hard to pick. But I'm probably going to have to take this one. Think and Grow Rich. Wow, an oldie but a goodie. Yeah, probably because it was like the paradigm shifter for me. You know, obviously, now, you know, 70 % of it, you know, I know what I am doing. But back then it was a real mind -opener. The concept of your network is your net worth and the concept of a visual mastermind boardroom in your mind of all the millionaires and billionaires around the world who you have access to through your own mind. Yeah, it was powerful. Wow, I didn't know you said that last bit. I should read the book. Considering it's nearly 100 years old, it's quite a modern visualization technique. But instead of just incanting, like closing your eyes, I mean, most nights I have done this for 17 years ago to bed and I close my eyes and I go wealth, success, health, strength, happiness, confidence, non -judgment, abundance, love and gratitude. And sort of mantras and incantations might be level one, but actually visualizing in your mind a boardroom and all the people there that are your idols that are where you want to be and imagining it in detail and asking them questions and having them come up with the answers even though they're coming through your own mind. Yeah, it's quite powerful. I mean, the brain is crazy, isn't it, really, in the stuff that we can do. And I think it's because we don't activate the subconscious enough to actually really utilize our brain properly. Yeah, I mean, I'm not a neuroscientist, but for sure, if, like Judith, and Matt, if you're in the room interviewing me and you took a knife and you sliced a gash in my arm, within six weeks, without me even thinking about it, my body would have repaired that. And, you know, we watch sometimes these science fiction films where you cut off an alien's arm and it grows back. Well, essentially, we can almost do that. So, we're not as alien as we think we are. So, if the brain can do that subconsciously, why are there not other things that it can do? We just have to learn how to activate it. I remember watching, this was probably, again, 20 years ago, where a lady could self -anesthetize and she was actually having a brain surgery and she was awake and she was just anesthetizing herself and I'm scared of needles. I wouldn't do that. But, yeah, I think, you know, I really believe the law of attraction works. It's just that people say it doesn't work because they haven't got what they want. It's just that the law of attraction is working perfectly. It's just they don't know how to use their mind to attract and be what they are rather than what they want. That makes a lot of sense. Rob, tell us a bit more about you. Well, I am just about still nearer to 40 than 50, just about. So, I'm 44 and I've been an entrepreneur for pretty much two decades now and I started in property, like I said, nearly 20 years ago and now I have 340 -ish rental units in my portfolio and we have 1350 tenants in our management company. I'm an author of, I think it's now 18 books, I've just finished 19th and I'm halfway through number 20 and I specialise in business and money and entrepreneurship. I have a podcast called Disruptors which were nearly 1 ,000 episodes now and, yeah, that's been what, nearly 8 years doing that show? So, really, I don't really have much of a life, Judith, outside of business and entrepreneurship. I try and stay healthy. I want to live long but I want to live good long, i .e. there's no point being 95 but be comatose for the last 20 years. So, I do try and stay healthy with ice baths and breathing techniques and lots of walking and exercise and trying to manage stress and I don't really, you know, I was going to say I don't really have any advice as I do but I'm married to her so that's okay but other than that I don't really have any vices so you know, because I remember learning in my early days of business that compounding is the 8th wonder of the world and the longer you're doing something, the longer that, you know, the more likely you are to be very successful at it so, you know, at my age now where I may be halfway through my life, I want to make sure that I'm living long so I can prosper and leverage the law of compounding.

A highlight from Elon Musk & Mark Cuban Join the Crypto Fight! (Bitcoin Bull Flag Forming)

"Welcome to Discover Crypto. It's a great day to discover crypto. It's October 19th. It's 1031, and we got Drew and Nick Tatar on the ones and twos. How are you two doing today? Oh, baby. Am I on the one or the two? I don't know yet. We haven't really officially given a number to each. So sidecar and the driver's seat. How about that? You're in the sidecar today. Okay. All right. All right. Well, today, folks, we're going to talk about Elon Musk and Mark Cuban teaming up against the SEC. We also have some Elon Musk moves involving Tesla and the Bitcoin that they hold. We're also going to talk about John Reed Stark. He's got some dire, dire issuing warnings that he's got out. New York lawsuit, Bitcoin, and we're going to talk some Ethereum and some Aptos as well. Now, Nick, do you have any Aptos? No. Why not? One reason why. Well, because I'm trying to get my bags, my current bags at the level that I wanted them to be at. I've got X amount of Cardano, X amount of render that I'm still trying to work up to and X amount of Bitcoin. So you got a little cough there. Are you getting over a cold or anything? I feel like I still got this, this cough. I can't get over smoking a cigarette. It's like Matthew McConaughey meme. Well, yeah, the past couple of days have kind of been that definitely that meme, but yeah, just a little bit of a, just lingering super COVID. I mean, it happens when you have like, you know, a giant member and stuff. Hey now. Well, you know what? Let's look at the giant market cap of Bitcoin and all the crypto assets here folks. We are down 0%. So we're up 0%. See, they make it red. I say, let's make it green. Hey, I refresh. I bought, I brought us into the bull market. So go ahead and hit the like button if you appreciate it. A 24 hour volume coming in at $35 billion. Bitcoin dominance 49 .5 and ETH dominance 16 .6. Gas kind of close to where it was yesterday. I think yesterday it was 18. Today it is 15. Well, let's look at the prices here. What is going on? Bitcoin coming in and is 28 ,518. So just coming in right there at 28 .5, it is up 1%, but Ethereum is down 1 % here. We keep scrolling. We'll see a big mover here. We have Solana, big mover, 2%. Solana is still looking good. It is up 14 % for the week. What's your long -term prognosis on Solana? If you had to guess, will we hit a new all -time high the next two years? A new all -time high? Will we pass 269 or whatever it was? Probably not, but will we get really close to the previous one? Yeah. Okay. So you think, well, you know, you're thinking more likely than not, we pass a hundred for Solana, which would be about a 4X from here. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Solana has got that six to 8X potential. So, but I don't think it's going to, you know, crush, you know, 300, 300 is just a big psychological level. Yeah. I'm also coming in along a similar prediction here. I think it has a lot of trouble getting past $200. Drew, what do you think for Solana in the next bull run? $175. $175. All right. So we're all kind of coming in around the same ranges here. Maybe a little bit below $200. Real quick, I would just look at this volume line. I pulled up the historical volume line. Look how like absolutely flat, like how flat that is. That's so crazy. It's like a quant flat there. It's almost synthetically flat there. It's just smooth, like a washboard there. All right. Well, let's look at the top painters. Why is this coin climbing still? We talked about this one crypto Paul coin. It came in at like number 90 or so it was up a thousand percent, three thousand. I can't remember what it was. It was a comma in there and now we are up 300%. Let's just click on it. I want to see what's there. Oh yeah. That's natural. That just looks so real folks. Keep an eye out on this one. No, I would avoid this dumpster fire. Just be careful out there folks. But once we go past that, what else do we have? We have, Hey, DZ's coin roll bit is up 12 .9%. Why am I in roll bit? I saw Gainsey tweeting about it a lot. So I was like, you know what? It looks down. I think gambling could be a strong narrative. So that was the gambling token that I went with. We have injective up 6 .5 % Bitcoin SV.

"Welcome to your Ethereum news roundup, here is your latest for Thursday October 19th, 2023. Yearn Finance introduces VE .YFI, Pulled Together V5 goes live, Polygon proposes a protocol council, and Eigenlayer announces a fellowship program. All this and more starts right now. The Give ETH Quadratic funding round is now live. If you'd like to support this podcast, please consider donating by visiting ethdaily .io forward slash give. Yearn Finance, a yield aggregation protocol, introduced VE .YFI, a non -transferable vote escrowed version of its governance token. Users can lock their YFI tokens in exchange for vote escrowed YFI, which allows them to partake in governance, cast votes on vault gauges, and earn DYFI rewards. The locking period for tokens can vary from one week to four years, with more rewards granted to long -term lockers. Users can exit their lock early but will incur a penalty. DYFI is an ERC -20 token that allows holders to redeem YFI at a discounted rate. DYFI serves as a reward mechanism for active users. The rewards are allocated from a yearn buyback initiative executed in 2021. About 1 ,700 YFI tokens have been locked so far. The fifth iteration of the Pull Together Price Savings Protocol is now live on OP mainnet for all users. The upgrade introduces immutability, permissionless vaults, and automatic yield -to -price conversion. Initial pools for wrapped Ether, USDC, and DAI are available, which leverage Aave v3 on OP mainnet as a yield source. Notably, the upgrade eliminates the need for manual price claims, transforming the protocol into a permissionless price savings hyperstructure where anyone can deploy a price vault backed by ERC4626 compatible tokens. It also replaces governance with automation and incentivized auctions. Two initial front -ends, pooltime .app and cabana .fi support the v5 release. Polygon introduced Polygon Improvement Proposal 29, proposing a 13 -member protocol council to oversee upgrades to system smart contracts. The council will manage changes to the PAL migration contract and emission manager contract. Regular changes will require 7 out of 13 signatures, and emergency changes will require 10 out of 13 signatures from the council. Council members include Jordi Beyelina, Murti Gupta, Victor Bunin, Justin Drake, Guantlet, L2B, Zak Imanyan, and Zak XPT. The proposal aims to balance decentralization with efficiency in preparation for the network's transition to Polygon 2 .0. And lastly, Eigenlayer announced a research fellowship where restaking enthusiasts can apply to be one of five fellows in a three -month program. Fellows will have access to the Eigenlayer research team, technical support, a trip to Def Connect, and Eigenlayer co -working spaces. Users who apply before October 27th will be prioritized. In other news, L2B now tracks Scroll Mainnet, Base migrates its testnet from Gourley to Sepuljia, and Avic considers staking diversity for its DAO holdings. A highlight from The Latest Attack from Elizabeth Warren's Anti-Crypto Army

"Welcome back to The Breakdown with me, NLW. It's a daily podcast on macro, Bitcoin and the big picture power shifts remaking our world. What's going on, guys? It is Thursday, October 19th, and today we are talking about the latest salvo of Elizabeth Warren's anti -crypto army. Before we get into that, however, if you are enjoying The Breakdown, please go subscribe to it, give it a rating, give it a review, or if you want to dive deeper into the conversation, come join us on the Breakers Discord. You can find a link in the show notes or go to bit .ly slash breakdown pod. Hello friends. Today is blissfully not a Sam Bankman free trial day, and instead we're going to be talking about the other big topic that has lurked for the last couple of weeks, which is of course crypto's role in terrorism financing. Now as was completely expected, Senator Elizabeth Warren has used the Warren Israel to renew her calls for tighter anti -money laundering controls to be applied to the crypto industry. On Tuesday, Warren wrote letters to both the U .S. Treasury and the White House calling for officials to quote, take strong action to thoroughly address crypto illicit finance risks before it can be used to finance another tragedy. Alongside Warren, over 100 lawmakers co -signed the letter. These signatories were largely Democrats from both the House and the Senate, and the letter said, as Congress considers legislative proposals designated to mitigate crypto money laundering and illicit finance risks, we urge you to swiftly and categorically act to meaningfully curtail illicit crypto activity and protect our national security and that of our allies. The letter leaned heavily on Wall Street Journal reporting from last week, which had framed Hamas as quote, one of the most sophisticated crypto users in the terror finance domain. Also unsurprisingly, Warren's letter did not mention that Hamas had announced the suspension of their use of Bitcoin to receive donations in April, citing concerns that the ability to easily trace Bitcoin transactions would put supporters at risk. It did however acknowledge that authorities have successfully seized dozens of crypto accounts owned by terrorist groups over the past year. The letter set out a series of questions, quote, regarding Treasury's plans to address the serious national security threats posed by the use of cryptocurrency to finance terrorism. The questions largely related to steps currently being taken and asking for the administration's estimates of the size of the problem. Wall Street Journal reporting had estimated that over 130 million in crypto had been raised by Hamas and the affiliated terrorist group Palestine Islamic Jihad since August 2021. Now it is notable that support for this letter was much broader than Warren had previously gathered for her crypto anti -money laundering efforts. For example, crypto -friendly Democrats Josh Gottheimer and Jake Auchincloss were included in the ranks of co -signatories. Republican Roger Marshall, who has provided support across the aisle for Warren's anti -money laundering bill, also signed on to the letter. And as an indication of support within senior Democrat circles, Senate Banking Committee Chairman Sherrod Brown also signed. Brown will of course be a significant decision maker on whether the Warren bill progresses through the committee stage, and he tweeted yesterday, Hamas's terrorism is fueled by cryptocurrency. We need to crack down on illicit crypto and stop terrorists from moving money around, evading sanctions, and funding their acts of evil. We must curb this emerging threat and protect our national security. Now alongside the letter, Warren penned an op -ed in, once again, the Wall Street Journal with Roger Marshall as a co -author. The article laid out what has been reported about the use of crypto and terrorist financing to date. It claimed that, quote, Crypto has become a crucial pipeline for financing terrorist organizations, and researchers agree that the publicly reported numbers are likely a small percentage of the actual total. This revenue stream demonstrates the dangerous gaps in our oversight of international money flows. Terrorists, rogue nations, drug traffickers, and other criminals are using cryptocurrency to endanger our allies and U .S. national security. It's past time to apply the same anti -money laundering rules to crypto that already apply to banks, brokers, check cashers, and even precious metal dealers before these loopholes allow terrorists to finance more attacks. The lawmakers asserted that, quote, Decentralized finance companies should be subject to the same anti -money laundering rules as banks. Now that is essentially the proposal in the Warren -Marshall bill. The DeFi protocol should have KYC requirements placed on them in line with the rules applied to banks and large financial institutions. Industry figures have called the proposal entirely unworkable for small DeFi startups. And of course, it's generally believed that the bill would be more likely to result in U .S. users being banned from accessing DeFi rather than leading to ubiquitous on -chain KYC. Today's episode is brought to you by Kraken. For far too long, the whole financial system has been standing still. Too slow. Only on for certain hours. Overly designed for some types of people, but not for others. Crypto, at its best, represents progress. It asks the question, what if? It invites people in instead of leaving them out. It's on 24 -7, 365, and moves at the speed of real life. Not everyone believes it. We've got our fair share of detractors. But that's the way it always is when you're building something new. Kraken is a crypto company that has been through the highs and lows of the industry, facing forwards towards progress throughout. And now they're inviting us to see what crypto can be. Learn more at kraken .com slash the breakdown. Disclaimer, not investment advice. Crypto trading involves risk of loss. Cryptocurrency services are provided to U .S. and U .S. territory customers by Payword Ventures Inc., PVI, DBA, Kraken. As you might imagine, the industry had a lot of commentary on this letter and the surrounding issues. G. Kim, the head of policy at the Crypto Council for Innovation, said, In the U .S., we have clear AML -CFT rules and requirements for U .S. exchanges. From there, Kim pushed back on Warren's bill, noting that the issue is largely an international one which isn't addressed by domestic laws. He said that the crypto industry wants to work with lawmakers to, quote, stamp out illicit activity and that, quote, the industry can be a helpful partner. Then there was Norbert Michel, who wrote a piece for the Cato Institute this week called A Crackdown on Crypto Won't Stop Hamas. A key quote from the piece was, In a perfect world, it would be out of bounds to use incidents of horrific violence against innocent people to revive an otherwise unrelated political agenda. Nonetheless, it seems that Senator Elizabeth Warren and her colleagues are going to use the recent violence in Israel to gather support for the Digital Asset Anti -Money Laundering Act, a bill Warren's been hawking for months. Now, one really important thing to note here is that this bill is not focused on exchanges that have been caught processing Hamas transactions. It's about a seemingly unrelated issue of forcing KYC onto DeFi protocols. Former CFTC commissioner and now head of policy at A16Z Crypto Brian Quinten said, No serious policy maker would take a view on crypto and illicit finance without addressing the arguments of this piece. But maybe serious policy isn't the goal of some in D .C. when it comes to crypto. Alexander Grieve, who does government affairs at Paradigm, wrote, Crypto opponents will continue to tie crypto to illicit finance, despite that being a small subset of a larger industry and an order of magnitude difference relative to illicit finance in opaque tradfi in order to fit their narrative. Regardless of these opponents' motivations, however, crypto needs to play our part in pushing out any bad actors. So it is up to us to come up with policy solutions and practical technical ones where possible. Until we do, we're going to keep seeing these kinds of letters. Austin Campbell responded, The irony is that cracking down forces more of this offshore, which is where the problems are. Hamas has a nexus to offshore exchanges in Tether, not onshore. Just ban things is the tech -illiterate answer. Blockchain Association wrote a long thread, basically saying that of course the crypto industry does not support terrorist activity, but that Warren's letter was just wrong. They write, Here are the facts. Claim, crypto financing is responsible for the horrific actions of Hamas. Fact, crypto networks are transparent and for this reason Hamas ceased to accept Bitcoin earlier this year, citing the success of law enforcement efforts to track down donors. Only a small fraction of Hamas's funding has come from crypto. And what portion of that small amount was directly used to fund the attacks is unclear. Claim, Hamas evaded U .S. sanctions by raising millions of dollars in crypto. Fact, Hamas and non -U .S. entities have no obligation to follow U .S. sanctions laws. And they go on, but you get the gist. Now, one thing to note is that if you think it's just crypto folks who are making some of these arguments, assistant law professor at Willamette, Rohan Gray, who's no big fan of crypto but is a big fan of privacy, wrote, It's bad that we haven't built such a perfectly surveilled financial system that oppressed groups cannot fund themselves is not the progressive angle on this issue in my opinion. This isn't a Hamas -specific issue, it's an architectural issue. In the 1950s, it was the NAACP getting donations and the racist governor of Alabama trying to use that process as a weak point to demand donor lists and harass its supporters. In a separate tweet, Gray said, There are significant civil liberties costs and broader social risks of repressing dissent and marginalized communities by building a financial system that allows centralized actors to surveil and censor all transactions. We've been trying to make this point to the Warren wing for a while. Unfortunately, most of them are too busy hating on crypto to realize they've taken the wrong side of the financial privacy debate. I don't have all that much to add here, other than the things that people have already said. It is clearly on the face of it preposterous to say that these attacks happened because Hamas had access to money via crypto. It's just not true. It's not true in terms of a percentage of money that Hamas had from crypto in general, and it's certainly not true that they have some magical insight that those dollars were used to fund this attack. Using that sort of rhetoric is clear political opportunism, but it's very unlikely that a lot of people are going to call it out given the sensitivity of these issues, which is exactly why folks like Elizabeth Warren use these opportunities. Frankly, this is exactly the type of interaction that shows why people get so frustrated with American politics, but I digress. Now, speaking of sanctions, on Wednesday, the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control once again expanded the sanctions list in response to illicit crypto usage. While Hamas is already designated as a terrorist group, this update added 10 new members, operatives and financial facilitators operating in Gaza. Crypto wallet addresses were identified, including one Bitcoin address owned by a Gaza -based exchange known as Buy Cash Money and Money Transfer Company. The business, along with its owner and primary operator, were alleged to, quote, be linked to Hamas and were also added to the sanctions list. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said in a statement, Now, blockchain analytics firm Elliptic reported on Wednesday that several designated terrorist groups had used that particular exchange. They claimed that over $25 million in Bitcoin and Tether had been moved through it since 2015. At the same time, as some pointed out, one of the sanctioned wallets has around $16 worth of value in it and made its last transfer 18 months ago, bringing up the question of just how much this is for show versus an actual effective policy. Speaking of just for show, on Wednesday, blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis published a blog post titled, Correcting the Record, Inaccurate Methodologies for Estimating Cryptocurrency's Role in Terrorism Financing. Chainalysis is, of course, one of the premier firms for providing statistics on illicit funding flows through crypto networks, as well as in assisting authorities to disrupt, freeze, and seize assets. Their blog post stated that, quote, Chainalysis noted that terrorism financing is, quote, They recognized that, quote, And yet, in spite of this, they point out that, quote, Chainalysis walked through the newly sanctioned exchange by cash as a case study. They dug into specific transactions flowing to and from the exchange and concluded that it functioned more like a street -level money changer rather than being exclusively used for terrorist financing. According to Chainalysis, 82 million had flowed through the recently sanctioned address since February. Of those flows, Chainalysis found that only 450 ,000 worth of crypto was transferred to other addresses affiliated with terrorist financing. They noted that rather than the full amount which has been cited in recent reporting, Neeraj Agarwal from Coincenter summed it up this way, It looks like those estimates assume all flows through service providers that process illicit transactions are illicit. That's probably not the case. To simplify, if there's a rogue exchange that does a billion dollars in volume and they process one $1 ,000 Hamas transaction, it shouldn't be counted as $1 billion to Hamas. Neeraj also poured some cold water on a statistic that's been floating around that suggests that the UN estimates that cryptocurrencies account for 20 % of terrorist financing. Neeraj said, Basically, a senior legal official at the UN Counterterrorism Committee, Svetlana Marinovay, said in an interview from last year that a few years ago, 5 % of terror attacks were believed to be financed using crypto and she added that, In other words, this thing that is reported as fact is just a made -up source. Now, whether or not there is dubious information going into all of these things, it doesn't matter in how it's impacting crypto's place in Washington. A new research report from Berenberg Capital Markets claims that the reported use of crypto to fund Hamas may have set back crypto lobbying efforts in Washington. The report stated that efforts to pass crypto legislation could be quote, Complicated by recent media reports that put a spotlight on Hamas's use of crypto as a means of fundraising in recent years. And that quote, So friends, there you have it. If that's the latest, what we will be keeping an eye on is the extent to which this picks up particular momentum or whether this was the type of thing that was a one -time flag signaling for these 100 signatories who just wanted to be associated with the anti -terrorism team, which is how this letter tried to portray itself. To the extent that this does pick up and this bill becomes more of a going concern, I will of course let you guys know here. For now, I appreciate you listening as always. And of course, one more big thanks to today's sponsor Kraken. Go to kraken .com slash the breakdown to see what crypto can be. Till next time, be safe and take care of each other. Peace.

"Tensions continue to escalate. Counter protesters aren't full force. Police begin arresting silent sentinels for obstructing traffic. Alice poll and several others find themselves before a judge facing a $25 fine or 60 days in jail. Given those options, the British trained suffragist knows exactly what to do. She and her suffragist sisters opt for jail. They demand to be treated as political prisoners, then go on a hunger strike. As in the UK, Alice endures forced feedings. She's moved to a hospital for the insane. Meanwhile, more than 30 of her fellow silent sentinels are sentenced to Virginia's aqua Quan workhouse. Here, they face brutality. On the night of November 14th, 1917, prison superintendent W H Whittaker orders 40 guards to beat the silent sentinel senseless. These men charged with keeping the peace, chain up national women's party cofounder Lucy burns. They throw Doris Lewis into an unlit cell. Her head slams into an iron bench, knocking her out cold. Women are choked, beaten, and told if they say a word, there will be hell to pay. But that doesn't stop misses brannon from speaking up. On November 25th, 1917, The New York Times quotes her husband, Doctor John winters Brandon, as he passes along her words. Here's a brief segment. From my wife's account, it is evident that the suffrage prisoners were deliberately terrorized when they entered Aquaman, and were treated with great brutality by the men guards, who handled them and knocked them about with the fury of thugs under the immediate direction of mister Whittaker himself. Who called out that the men would be glad to get their hands on them and handle them rough. In some cells, there were three women with nothing to lie on, but one narrow bed and two straw mats. This is Henry butterworth of New York was carried off alone into the men's section of the jail and deliberately told there would be no other woman with her. And there she was left all night. The sound of men's voices on all sides. The silent sentinels will never forget aqua Quan. But above all, they'll never forget November 14th. A night they know as the night of terror. The public is outraged. President Woodrow Wilson is outraged. All of the silent sentinels are released, and be it their activism, the quieter hard work of NASA, or perhaps both. Woodrow finally gives his public support to a constitutional amendment guaranteeing women's suffrage on January 9th, 1918. The House of Representatives votes on the amendment the next day. It passes with the exact two thirds majority required by the constitution. 274 for it and 136 against. It takes the Senate longer, but it too concedes in June, 1919, and once it does, the silent sentinels stop their White House protests. Ratification moves quickly in the now 15 states where women have the vote and still others. Nausea and the NWP both work hard to get more states to ratify. By the summer of 1920, 35 states have done so. That means if one more of the 48 states legislatures ratifies will cross the 75% threshold, and that will bring the amendment to life. No wonder the pressure is so intense as the men in the Tennessee House of Representatives vote. It's August 18th, 1920. We're in Nashville, Tennessee, inside the state's gorgeous neoclassical limestone capitol building. Seated in the Tennessee House of Representatives chamber. The galley seats are crammed with yellow rose wearing suffragists in red rose wearing anti suffragists. The whole room is tense, as everyone knows, this very split legislative body, which nearly tabled the vote moments ago, is about to make one group euphoric, the other enraged. And either way, it will likely come down to one vote. Speaker of the House, Seth walker rises. He announces the hour has come. Suffragists and anti suffragists alike hold their breath as state representatives call out their vote in the chamber below. Harry Byrne is ready. This handsome, dark haired 24 year old freshman legislator feels the eyes of his fellow representatives and those in the galley seats falling on him. Few doubt what he'll do. An anti suffrage red rose adorns his lapel after all. Then, the young rep rises and votes. I a pregnant pause envelops the chamber. But once the shock registers, women seated above erupt with excitement and rain rose petals on the chain of below. Why did Harry change his mind? The reason isn't on his lapel. It's in his pocket. A letter, just received from his mother. In it, she wrote. Quote, hurrah and vote for suffrage and don't keep them in doubt. Harry sure his constituents will hate him. But as he'll say later, a boy should mind his mother's advice. In doing so, he's broken the chamber's tie and made Tennessee the 36th state to ratify the proposed amendment. In another 8 days, on August 26th, 1920, everything becomes official. Women's suffrage is now a constitutional right in the United States, guaranteed by a new Nineteenth Amendment. It reads as follows. The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation. And so we come to the end of our long and winding road to women's suffrage. From colonial voices like Abigail Adams, if not Lydia taft. Down to Tennessee's last minute convert Harry Byrne. We met women and men who played crucial roles in what eventually led to women's suffrage becoming a constitutional right. Perhaps Alice stone Blackwell, the daughter of noted suffragist couple, Lucy stone, and Henry Blackwell. Put it best when she described women's suffrage as a fight, quote, of broad minded men and women on the one side. Against narrow minded men and women, on the other. More specifically, though, we've met women, like Susan B. Anthony, and Elizabeth cady Stanton, who lived for women's suffrage. We met inez mill Holland, who gave her life for women's suffrage. And still others who, amid hunger pains, force feedings, and the brutality of aqua quang guards proved ready to give their lives for it. Personally, when I think about what these women endured, the earnestness with which they craved the vote, I can't help but hear the echoes of Patrick Henry. Give me liberty or give me death. And thanks to them, American democracy became greater. In other words, the United States became a yet more perfect union. Seeing the task complete, the more moderate national American women suffrage association, NASA, comes to an end. Though it more or less morphs into the league of women voters. But the national women's party isn't going anywhere. By 1923, Alice Paul is working on an equal rights amendment. That, however, is a story for another day. Yet, with women's suffrage secured, another question begs to be answered. Is an American woman such as Ida B wells taking care of. Or are the Jim Crow laws of the new south that we learned about back in episode one O one, still puncturing and fraying the value of the reconstruction amendments. Next time, we'll meet a rising post Frederick Douglass generation of black leaders, including Booker T. Washington and WEB Dubois. As we turn our attention

"It's almost 12 new March 3rd, 1913. One day before the inauguration of president elect Woodrow Wilson. At least 5000 people possibly 10,000 and almost exclusively women are assembled in Washington, D.C.. Currently, this massive crowd is by the Civil War inspired peace monument, just a stone's throw from the U.S. capitol. But they're not here to stand. They're preparing to march through the nation's capital city for the cause of women's suffrage. Two women on horseback take their place at the front. Jane walker burelson, and Ines milhaud. Jane is the grand marshal, meanwhile, Ines, simply captivates. Wearing a golden crown and flowing white cape, the horsewoman exudes confidence poise and unparalleled beauty. All of this is by careful design. Though an eloquent and brilliant lawyer, 26 year old inez, is no nationally for her beauty. The beautiful suffragist, according to the new York tribune, and savvy march organizer Alice Paul is guessing the media will give the march more coverage with dark haired vibrant and as at the front. All that Alice called it right. But hey, look, this procession is starting. Let's watch. 9 bands strike up a patriotic tune as our grand marshal in the stunning inez mill Holland ride forward. And apparently endless procession follows. First are the floats and representatives of international suffragists, Canada, Australia, and more. Ah, there's Chinese George Washington University student. Riding a float with her 9 month old baby girl. Next are depictions of the women's movements pioneers and subsequent progress. Take note of the college robe wearing new woman. As educated boundary pushing women are now called. Then we see women from various professions march by. Educators, librarians, clergy, factory workers, lawyers, physicians, even famous actresses. State allegations follow next. Amid all the pageantry are perhaps 40 black women, a majority of whom are Howard University students. Some organizers attempted to relegate black participants to the end of the procession. But integration went out. Joined a protected by two white friends, Ida B wells, is probably marching at the head of the Illinois delegation. Coming to the back, we have about 70 supportive males. The national men's league for women's suffrage is here, as well as some congressmen, like representative Richmond hobson of Alabama. It's a courageous and bold move, given the Deep South strong anti women suffered sentiments. Following his conscience, will cost him his seat in 1916. Yellow and purple banner soar trumpets sound bands continuing to play hundreds of women are immune form. There are more than 20 floats, including one with a large sign reading. We demand an amendment to the constitution of the United States in franchising the women of this country. Meanwhile, a crowd of a quarter to a half a million watch. Wow. That's what happens when you plan your procession for the day before presidential inauguration. Genius. But the heckling starts almost immediately. A voice calls out. Where are your skirts? Police are slow to intercede. Some even join in the ridicule. Likely not aware he's addressing the wife of a congressman, one officer yells at genevieve stone. If my wife were where you are, I'd break her head. People fill the street and the procession stops and goes as men grab, shove, jeer, and even drunkenly climb on the floats. The suffrage is to keep their composure, though the occasion of silent here escapes. After an hour of this, the military finally arrives. Soldiers clear the path. The procession continues. This massive march in Washington D.C. was, as the buffalo evening news reports, the American women suffrage movements most elaborate demonstration in history. And it was smartly done. No, I don't just mean the organizing. I'm talking about outshining the new president in the media by holding it the day before his inauguration. Placing Ines mill Holland, whose femininity, beauty, and grace contradict the anti suffragist narrative of the new woman. In a position visible to the public and media, and crushing it visually as they did with their Tableau, or Tableau vivant. If you're unfamiliar with the term, this describes a group of people striking a pose and freezing, like they're in a painting. Well, a group of classically garbed women did this on the treasury building steps, depicting the virtues and ideals Americans often envision as living women, such as liberty, peace, charity. And of course, the personification of the U.S. of a herself, Colombia. The press ate all of this up too. Women's suffrage is hitting a new stride as we enter the 19 teens. It needed it. Not a single state budged on the issue from 1896 until 1910. A lethargic, dead era sometimes called the doldrums. These years also saw the death of two lifelong leaders. Elizabeth cady Stanton, who passed in 1902, and Susan B. Anthony, who followed in 1906, but in 1910, women in the state of Washington obtained the vote. California followed in 1911 and last year, 1912, Arizona, Kansas and Oregon all got on board. Along with the four early adopters, again, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, and Idaho, that brings us to 9 states now where women have the franchise. Oh, and in 1914, two more western states, Montana and Nevada follow. Make that 11. What's going on? Well, women across the nation are pressing the issue. But some of the newfound wind in the sales of women's suffrage is due to two young suffragists named Alice Paul and Lucy burns. They've brought a British flair that's adding some punch to the American movement. Under the leadership of Emily pankhurst, the British based women's social and political union marches soap boxes interrupts political meanings and change themselves to parliament's railings. Not to overstate, but at their greatest extreme, some of these suffragists, known as militant suffragists, even resort to acts of arson and bombings. Things we would call terrorism in the 21st century. The violence is typically aimed at property, not people, but that line is crossed occasionally. In fact, a young president of the board of trade got horse with a few years back. You might have heard of him. His name is Winston Churchill. Now, don't worry, Alice Paul and Lucy burns are not accosting any future World War II heroes. But while studying in the UK a few years ago, they did become militant suffragists or to introduce a word the British press likes to use to belittle this particular crowd. Suffragettes. The term will outlast the intended insult. They protested, and got arrested several times. That's how they met actually, under arrest, had a London police station in 1909. And when these arrests led to imprisonment, they did as their fellow suffragists did. Demanded to be treated as political prisoners and went on hunger strikes. The hunger strikes resulted in forced feedings. See, no official wants to be the guy who let a lady die while in prison. But rather than acquiesce in grant them political prisoner status, the powers that be resorted to forced feedings. To do this, small team holds the woman down and shoves a tube up one nostril until it circles down her throat. Alice Paul recalls well that, quote, while the tube is going through the nasal passage, it is exceedingly painful, and only less so as it is being withdrawn. I never went through it without the tears streaming down my face. And often moaned from beginning to end. And

"Continue to escalate.

"Yes the outcome was less than ideal got stranded so has to find a way to live with all the equipment that was left the housing and everything but he had to raise food had to find actually create water and all the things that he had to do to live on mars for about a year or more. And it's absolutely fascinating to see the problems to see the problem solved and you can do a lot of reading where people have asked questions. How accurate is that portrayal of. What it's like for the new mars lander and it kind of takes you there. It is pretty doggone accurate did you see the The first two photos that came back from perseverance where the equivalent of selfies didn't see. I'm to look that up. I heard you say so. Cool because you can see the shadow of because it's a big deal. Those talks about the seven minutes of terror. And i worked through that. It's a big deal getting that rover down to the martian surface. But the first snap that. The rover took was in silhouette. It was the shadow of the rover against the red planet. Just crack me up here right. Now let's get to work. God love it does beg. The question is your view your expectations of your retirement years in line with the reality when not if you don't have a plan i'm totally serious about this because you need that plan firmly in place so that it can adjust it can adapt. Yes keith. i will use one of your words can pivot troublesome uncertain times. Because there's more ahead to be sure there's one thing we know well We're not out of the woods yet. But i'm sure you've got that bucket list right and if you get that plan working well you can check off those items on your bucket list. That's why you need to get in touch with keith. "The price of doing too little is much higher. The price of doing something big. The benefits will outweigh the costs in the long run the house is working to try and pass the one point nine trillion dollar corona virus relief plan before the end of february and there is already talk about another larger relief plan after that we're talking three trillion dollars far. Be it from me to deny anyone who has been so hard hit by the pandemic on such a multitude of levels a stimulus payment. But i find it ironic. You've got treasury secretary. Janet yellen saying well the The benefits will far outweigh the costs to which well my snarky side says sure because we won't be around the pay for it. This is our legacy to our kids and their kids. That's well said. There are many major economists. Who said the price for this will be paid not by people who are approaching retirement age now but by their kids by their children that generations through their life and that is debate. That must be had it. It is as we move forward so begs the question. As the covid relief stimulus wheel goes round and round or they still talking about reducing the thresholds for individuals and couples. No no no. They're talking about same deal. We had last time interesting all the same all the same numbers all right now. That ted cruz is back from cancun. What race thinking fled cruise. Begs the question. Where do they stand in terms of all the caterwauling and negotiations on this covid. Nineteen stimulus relief package that the house is aiming to have it passed by the end of this month which is only really a little bit more than a week away right around the corner. Yeah yeah well what. The month ends a week from this weekend. So that's where it's now. Yes yes we'll keep you posted markets this morning up on that news. The dow industrial average up fifty points thirty one and five forty two the s. and p. Five hundred after three days in a row of losses up six at three thousand nine hundred twenty and the nasdaq up. Fifty points at thirteen thousand nine sixteen Slight increases in the major averages. This morning yield on the ten year treasury holding above that one point three percent mark at one point three to west texas intermediate crude oil not holding above sixty dollars a barrel down about sixty cents this morning. Fifty nine dollars and ninety cents. This is worthy of note. We got numbers yesterday. That homebuilding dropped sharply in january construction of new single family homes and indeed. The pace of new single family. Home building has dropped twelve percent. It said from the end of december through january. This is just in in the month behind us. What's the reason everybody's pointing to the price of lumber which has doubled in the last three months doubled in the last three months and now stands at a new record high. The analysts say the mortgage and low mortgage interest rates and strong demand for single family. Homes are both still strong but they indeed are will act to keep lumber prices high. That's all about supply and demand. Yes exactly. I mean we've been stuck at home for the better part of years. So what are you going to do. A little spruce up fix up the clean up and build that deck so home builders have to have more in their pockets money that they reach into to build to to finance and to pay for the construction of new single family homes and for their oversold and so lumber prices at record highs now backed off a little bit just today but still hitting that all time record high yesterday.

"That. Yeah every year. U-haul tracks one way arrivals of rented trucks and trailers in all fifty states. One way arrivals of rented trucks and trailers so for twenty twenty tennessee claimed the most one way arrivals. Texas was second and florida was third. Texas has been first or second every year since twenty fifteen. Okay you submit california as being last on the list. You are absolutely correct. California has been in the bottom three since two thousand sixteen again. The heck out of dodge or dodge. California not dodge. I mean you can go there and see. I think gunsmoke got a nice exhibit gun. Smoke in california and the lines will be considerably less crowded. Because it's kind of like turn into a ghost town now. Isn't it no not don california's the bottom three since one thousand sixteen and it's joined in the bottom three by one i guess new york new jersey yes yes own feet out of california illinois and new jersey okay are they bringing their voting sensibilities or lack thereof with them. Yes see they're in. There lies the rub. Yeah and that's my opinion column. Cheryl ranks sixth on the list of most one way arrivals by u. haul in the year twenty twenty and colorado is right behind arizona at number five colorado decidedly not purple but blue after wonder if that is the future the wave of the future for the likes of texas in florida. Yeah whoa okay. Where they're moving from same thing happen california illinois new joys eat most people coming out of california illinois solid blue states. Yeah yeah and moving to red states reddish states. it's a hell of a time to be alive. Grand'rue says i mean we're talking about the changes that change the course of a nation and we hope they change that course for the better. Are you optimistic or pessimistic. I've been optimistic. Goal my life there you go. That's our nature and it's a little bit more difficult now. I argue but i'm not giving in I think we look around us. And we look at our quality of life and we look at Dreams come true. I think we got where we are by making the wrong decisions too many times in a row. There's always twenty twenty. Two midterms always depends on ways to keep a. The pendulum starts swinging to the extreme in one direction it builds momentum to start swinging in the opposite direction. Well you know. It's funny. Because i was talking with my brother yesterday. God love him. He's not a neo con but let's say He he makes me look like rachel maddow. Okay put it in perspective ice and has always been so optimistic and so positive about the future of liberty and freedom and he picks up the phone. He goes like wait what i mean. He is so reserved a he's frightened as many are with the specter of all. Those far left liberal initiatives that are floating around out there asking the question if a president elect tomorrow soon to be the forty six president of the united states joe biden if he asks the spine to stand up to those far left influences and ray grew up with you in pennsylvania and then stayed there online. You came to colorado but ray stayed in built a business. He's actually in ohio. He's actually in Hubbard hubbard okay. Side of built the business hill now. Ohio is a state. People are moving to interesting. Yes yes but now. He's florida right. Well he's splitting his time. Between the the is yes. It's actually a nice place. I have the same misconception of because it felt like this engineered community into degree. It is but it's a really cool place visited there. I did and you set. Your impression was totally the opposite. Oh yeah i was nice. I mean there's no they have communities and there's a lot of golf carts and a lot of golf going. Oh a lot of pickle ball pickle ball big in the villages but each community has its own little town square and they have open air bars. And you got people strolling streets and there's lots of shopping and people actually talk to one another. Yeah it was kind of you know. I felt i thought it might feel like disneyland or something i was gonna ask you think it would be like. Yeah i just felt vaguely like like johnny depp. Movie that's good. Yeah okay you know what i'm saying. Yeah exactly this edward's scissor. Yes exactly where all yards. Look the same in all the houses. Look the same. All the people were that no. It's not like that at all. It's kind of cool. There are towns right. Yes these enclaves. As i call them and you drive through countryside florida countryside. Lots of get their to get to the next town. You know what's fascinating. The villages was actually established as a mobile home community. Those mobile homes are still there as you enter village central and it's huge in population. Yeah i don't know what they're to put it all together but it doesn't feel like no no no. It feels sucks. Small communities fascinating. Yeah that's pretty cool. Yeah so oh you want an update. Yes we didn't ask on. What with regard to you remember james. How's james houses. The guy that through the guy that moss's password the password to the two hundred and forty million in bitcoin. Yeah well some are saying. Two hundred eighty eight million. He is a uk it engineer. He's now asking his local government once again to allow him to search the local landfill for the hard drive that he threw way back at twenty thirteen. Now he's asked before and they've said no way but now he's up in the n. T. offering the local government in newport. Wales a reward of twenty five percent of the bitcoin on that hard drive which he said would go to a covert relief fund for the city's residents smart man. Yeah various might well no word from.

The number of national guard troops that we have in dc exceed the number of troops in iraq and afghanistan. Consider that coming in. Twenty five thousand heavily armed troops. Not a good look. Is it to the rest of the world but president trump Reluctantly leaving office today. After compiling whether you admire him or despise him love him or hate him. Bathing the question. What will his legacy actually be. And will his legacy of success in a foreign affairs when it came to his economic policies.
