A highlight from Larry Taunton

"Ladies and gentlemen, are you ready to listen to a man of grace, sophistication, integrity, and whimsy? Well, so are we, but until such a man shows up, please welcome Eric Metaxas. Welcome back, folks. This is Eric Metaxas, and welcome to the show. It's hour two. I continue talking to John Smirack, and after this segment, we'll bring on Larry Taunton to go over the news of the day and other things, but the news of the day being Tucker Carlson's mind -blowing interview with Larry Sinclair. Absolutely insane, insane that we're hearing about this for the first time 15 years after we should have heard about it. And the country's a different country because the media and the Republicans just squashed this information because they think you're too stupid to be able to process it on your own, so they have to censor it for you, scandalous. Okay, John, you were talking about something else. I was saying that Winston Churchill had a lot of flaws. He had been a warmonger in 1914. In 1923, he was hostile to the Germans, even though they were the Weimar Republic. He was an anti -German jingoist, but in 1940, he was the indispensable man, the only man who would stop the British from surrendering after France fell and cutting a disgraceful deal that let Hitler essentially run Europe. He was the indispensable man for all his flaws. And there were people in his party, the British Conservative Party, who wanted to push him aside and make a deal with the Nazis because it seemed like the prudent and sensible thing to do. That is exactly when you hear pious Christians condemning Donald Trump saying, well, he's got this terrible moral character. And he says, he puts out mean tweets. They wanna shove Winston Churchill aside and make a deal with the enemies of freedom and surrender to them because they find things unsavory about Donald Trump. And that's what's happening potentially in the Texas Senate right now with Ken Paxton, a heroic defender of religious freedom and the unborn and America's borders and election integrity. He's being savaged from the left by people who hate all those things and attacked from the squish center by the Bush family, which just resents him for beating one of their family members, George P. Bush, in an election. So you've got the most disgusting squish rhinos on the one hand and the far left cooperating the way they cooperated in the election of Obama. So that is my latest political article, but I've got a much more important piece I'd like to talk about. Sure. It has to do with our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Was Jesus a sinner? Do we get to say that Jesus was a sinner too? I can't wait to hear where you're going with this one, John Smirack, what do you got? This is a theme I've seen first in mainline Protestant preaching and then in some woke evangelicals. So now of course it eventually filters down to the Vatican. One of the closest advisors to Pope Francis is Father Antonio Spadaro. He runs the semi -official magazine at the Vatican, La Civilta Cattolica. So he is like Pope Francis' right -hand man. He gave a sermon just recently about Jesus' encounter with the Canaanite woman. And I think we all sort of remember that story, this Canaanite woman whose daughter is possessed by a demon starts basically pestering Jesus for a miraculous cure. And Jesus makes her jump through a bunch of hoops. He tells her, look, I've only come to preach to the lost children of Abraham. It is not fit to give to the dogs the bread that is meant for the children. And when we read this, I think we're all a little shocked by it at first. Jesus doesn't sound very nuts. And we're like, wow, what is this? What is this about? I think it is one of those hard sayings in the gospel that we have to think through that challenge us. Jesus was not acting like Oprah here. He was being kind of a hard guy, kind of a tough guy. He makes the woman, basically she gets to the point of saying, but even the dogs get the scraps that fall from the master's table. Then Jesus praises her for her persistence and for her faith, and he heals her daughter, just remotely, heals her daughter. A happy ending. Well, Father Antonio Spadaro, Pope Francis's right -hand man, gave a sermon recently where he says Jesus does not care. He calls Jesus angry and insensitive. He says that his hardness is unshakable. He said that Jesus replies in a mocking and disrespectful way towards that poor woman, because he's apparently blinded by nationalism and theological rigor. But - Hold on, hold on, hold on. You're telling me that one of the top priests at the Vatican genuinely publicly disapproved of the behavior of Jesus of Nazareth, our God. He said that Jesus is giving in to his own racism and nationalism, but by the end, the woman, through her persistence, heals Jesus. He says, quote, Jesus also appears healed and in the end shows himself free from the rigidity of the dominant theological, political and cultural elements of his time. So in other words, the woman heals Jesus instead of Jesus healing the woman's daughter. Jesus's racism is rebuked and repents Jesus for his sin of racism. This is what Pope Francis's right -hand man is saying, but don't take comfort in the fact that you're Protestant. This crap has been around. Protestants have been preaching this for years. You would see it if you go to Woke Preacher TV, you can see videos of Protestant ministers saying this five years ago. Well, first of all, the word Protestant is meaningless because the Protestant church has been in the tank, since Dietrich Bonhoeffer was at union in 1930. I mean, we've had liberal, progressive Protestantism for about a hundred years, so - These are self -described evangelicals. Right, that's the difference. Some of these folks would be described as evangelicals, but they are woke and they're doing the same thing you're describing. But somebody that close to the pope to be saying this, unless you're exaggerating - No, I'm not exaggerating. I was quoting directly from the translation. So let me unpack what's going on here, okay? This is an attempt to put ourselves above Jesus to where we can judge Jesus Christ, because we're so enlightened and we're so intelligent and we have made so much progress. This is the ultimate rebellion, the ultimate new gospel of the Antichrist. And this is what is being preached in our churches where we can judge even the behavior of Jesus Christ. John, it's the clearest mercy I've ever heard. I mean, for somebody to be criticizing Jesus as having sinned even slightly, that goes against every doctrine of the church from the beginning. I can't imagine that this could be - That is what the Vatican is now preaching. So really what happened in this story is this woman is a Canaanite. She's a member of a fertility cult that used to sacrifice infants. So she basically is in a religion that worships demons. She comes to Jesus. The daughter she raised in the demon -worshipping religion is, big surprise, possessed by a demon. She asks Jesus for a miracle, a miracle, a suspension of the laws of nature. God is not some water tap. We turn it on and off. Oh, I need a miracle. Okay, thank you. She's asking for a miracle from a God whom she has rejected her whole life. He makes her jump through a few hoops to show her sincerity and then gives her a miracle. And yet these progressive Christians are so proud that they want to condemn Jesus so that they can feel superior to Jesus. That is the essence of liberal Christianity, where you are the ultimate authority and the secular culture around you are the ultimate authority. George Soros, Microsoft, Facebook, Harvard, Google, they are the authority. They judge even Christ. We have less than a minute left. It's just hard for me to believe that things are that bad, but it seems like they are that bad. I don't know how your average faithful Catholic could make sense of this. This is very, very disturbing. Well, we've had terrible popes before and we've had heretical popes before. We now have one who's probably the worst, most heretical in the history of the church.

Fresh update on "1923" discussed on Morning News with Manda Factor and Gregg Hersholt

"Low 60s today, tomorrow and Sunday. Little rain comes back by Monday and Tuesday of next week sunny and 58 right now. The Midday News with Taylor Band Size on Newsradio and FM 9077 your information station sponsored by Fast Water Bill O 'Neill at the Editor's Desk. I'm Taylor Van Size among our headlines that were following today. A man has been indicted in the 1996 murder of rapper Tupac Shakur, Dwayne Keith Davis arrested in Las Vegas today after a grand jury indicted him yesterday. And flags on Capitol Hill have been lowered to half staff to honor Senator Dianne Feinstein who died at the age of 90. Her career was marked by many firsts. Senator Dianne Feinstein was the first woman president of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors the first woman mayor of San Francisco and one of two women first elected to the US Senate from California. ABC's Dan Ashley in San Francisco our senators from here in Washington State responding with some memories that they've shared on the Senate floor today. Both Senators Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray with fond memories of Feinstein. It's 1246. Dwayne The Rock Johnson and his fellow investors are merging their XFL Spring Football League with the USFL. What does that mean for the XFL's Seattle Sea Dragons? Des Bieler is covering the merger for the Post Washington and joins us here on Northwest News Radio. This announcement surprised me. Des is the USFL and the XFL had a fairly antagonistic relationship. How did this deal come together? Des Yeah, we're waiting for a lot of the details because they just announced their intention to merge yesterday. And they in fact said both parties, they issued statements with some of the same wording and the XFL went a little further in its statement and said, just so you know, we're adding a note of caution here. This isn't official, there are regulatory issues to go through and all sorts of details to be ironed out. So not officially merging, but it raise does a lot of questions about who, yeah, who maybe wants out? Does Dwayne The Rock Johnson kind of want out maybe? It's hard, we just don't know yet. We're gonna have to wait to see if, assuming the merger goes through, it'll be very interesting to see who ends up actually owning this. The USFL, I think, is owned by Fox Corporation. So you'd think they might wind up with a bigger stake. I would certainly think they're the biggest backers in all this. So that might be a likely scenario. But the USFL, I think, has benefited a lot from having The Rock out there. He's such an obviously well -known personality, such a popular personality. To have him fronting that league, I think, has done a lot for PR its and for its credibility. So I would think that whatever the new incarnation of this league that emergence from all this. If he wants to stick around, I'm sure they'd love to have him stick around. But there are a lot of details to ironed be out, including how many teams are going to be left. So Seattle Sea Dragons fans are just going to have to kind of wait to see how this shakes out, I'm afraid, because there's a lot we don't quite know just yet. In both of these leagues, they've failed at once least before. It's the third iteration, I think, for the XFL. Is this kind of a last survival for both of them? Well, the USFL people would tell you that they're doing just fine. They became the first league since the original USFL to last more than one season. They just finished their second season, I which do think is a pretty large feather in their cap. And they have somewhat of a more modest business where in their first season, all the teams were playing in the same site, which doesn't sound great. They played all the games in Birmingham, which is fine if you were a fan of the Birmingham. I'm trying to look it up. This is in the USFL. Yeah, they played all the games in Birmingham, Stallions. There we go. And then this year they branched out to three more hubs. So they have a little bit, they're trying to keep travel costs under wraps. They finished their second season. No league had done that since the original USFL from 1983 to 1985. And just in the past couple years, we did see a spring league in 2019. The Alliance of American Football just collapsed. completely That was kind of a fiasco before its first season ended. And then the XFL, which began life again in 2020. We'll never know what may have happened if the pandemic hadn't hit, but that of course completely disrupted the entire sports world. And so that version of the XFL failed that particular year, but then it was bought by Dwayne Johnson, his ex -wife and business partner, and then also a venture capitalist group. And so they relaunched it in 1923. So spring football certainly had a bit of a tortured history, but I think both these sides are looking at each other thinking, well, we're probably better off trying this together than rivaling each other. And maybe boosting crowds too. Seattle saw crowds between 10 ,000 and 15 ,000 at Lumen Field where the Seahawks of course draw far larger crowds. could read You more about this merger, proposed merger, if it actually works out, and some of that language that kind of hedges the bets online at washingtonpost .com from reporter Des Bieler. Des, Time for our stockcharts .com money update. And the markets so far today, they've been a little mixed at times, but generally it's not a day that anybody's bragging about.

"Navy SEALs are so played out. The Delta boys are so played out. I'm looking for good reason. I'm not putting them down. I mean, come on. There's a reason why we all know about them. But I thought, you know, who's left? And the more research I was doing, the more people I talked to, like, who's the biggest bad that's -ass not a SEAL or a Delta boy? And it was like, finally, someone said to me, what do you know about the Marine Raiders? And I was like, you know, not much. So the more I looked into them, the more I thought, this is more Red's brew of coffee right here. Yeah. My character, Matthew Red, I just saw it instantly, man. It just clicked. And I kind of just ran with it. Yeah. Cause the Raiders, I mean, there's been some variations of stuff. So one of my friends came out of Naval Academy, FBI agent, but was a captain in the Marines. He was force recon. And there's this great picture of him. It used to be on his Twitter page. He's doing a halo jump in white. It's wintertime, but he's doing a halo jump in white. You know, and it's like, you know, that's some cool shit. But when I first started reading about Matthew Red, like you say, he almost, it reminded me of what you would get if you kind of put together like a Mitch Rapp and a Jack Reacher, you know, and a couple other folks, you know, somebody got some street smart as well as smart knows how to operate tactically. But I like the fact that you set it out in States that tend to be flyover countries. You know, I came from Kansas flyover country. Now I do have to ask one thing. Will Matthew Red ever work with the Dutton Ranch at Yellowstone to drive off the other people? Well, you know, it's interesting. When I first wrote about Montana, I kind of think a lot of people I was talking to was like, no one cares about Montana. Like, no one wants to read about that. And then like two years later, Yellowstone came out. And then 1823, 1883, then 1923. I think they care about Montana now, you know? And so, so that was, I won't lie to you. That was another reason why John Talbot was like, Hey, the timing's good. Let's get this thing out the door. Let's go shop it. You know, Yellowstone's huge. I don't think that hurt for sure. But you know, Red's got his own cattle ranch that he's worried about right now. And in book two, he's facing a very real threat of losing it. And I mean, that is just one of, put that farther down the list of problems he's got in book two. Well, we want to tie this back to our Game of Crimes theme, because it has to relate somehow to crime. So what happens is, he's kind of, kind of tell a little bit too, Matthew is set up in the beginning, team, something happens to his team, obviously, and then he's got the choice between getting court -martialed, you know, or taking a less than honorable discharge and getting out of the Marines, which kind of, that's the inciting incident. That's what sets him on the path coming back to Montana. So how did you come up with the, because you, like you said, you originally talked about human trafficking. How did you come up with the idea though, for Fields of Fire, in terms of the manipulation of the food supply? Yeah, I mean, I'll touch on it a little, I don't want to spoil it, but one day I was sitting around, I won't name names, but there was a billionaire who looks like a really nice dude, a friendly face, round glasses, just looked super nice, but was making headlines because he's buying up all this farmland. And I just was sitting there one day going, why? Is that Ted Turner? Why are they buying up all this, why are they buying up all this farmland? Well, that's the Chinese too. They've been doing a lot of that out there. Well, I couldn't let it go. And I just thought, okay, let's say that this nice looking billionaire is actually not, what might they be doing? And so in my fictional universe, there's a billionaire who comes from the tech world. His name is Anton Gage and he looks very nice.

A Deeper Look at Warren G. Harding's Fascinating and Scandalous Presidency

"Teddy Roosevelt died in 1919, which left the door wide open for someone else to come in and take the reins. And so that person ended up being Warren G. Harding. Now, Harding was a lesser -known Ohio senator who had made himself a fortune and fame as a businessman. He was specifically good with newspapers. He had bought a newspaper back in his local town of Marion, Ohio, and he generally was more of a compromise candidate. He met more checked boxes than the other candidates that were presented in the stead of Roosevelt. And so people backed Harding as their candidate, but he quickly captivated the American people. So most of the times compromise candidates may not work out as well due to their lack of strong base. But Harding wasn't really like that. He captivated the American people. And at the time, I think the populist movement was a desire for a more isolationist foreign policy and stronger mandates back home. So we had joined World War I. We didn't like it, and we didn't want that to be the status quo from here on out. So Harding easily defeated the Democrat up for election. His name was James Cox. And fun fact of history, which I didn't know leading up to this, was that James Cox's vice presidential candidate was Franklin Delano Roosevelt, FDR. So back in 1920, FDR got his first taste of national electoral campaigns as VP, which would play a strong part in his eventual election up to As the economy soared under Warren Harding's administration, by 1923, he was probably one of the most popular presidents ever during his presidency. So the aftermath of war, it's historically, it's a great time for technological advancement. So if you think about war in the aftermath of it, people are forced to innovate basically for the sake of their own lives. They want to get a technological advantage over their opponents. And so they start to invest more heavily in technology and in research and just ensuring that they understand as best as possible what edge can we get on our opponents. So examples of that is going to be investments in vehicles or investments in radio, which were all or both of those were strong investments and inventions within this era of history. So they were receiving engineering attention. It was allowed to be built more in mass and at scale. And so as a result, society became faster, more informed and culture evolved, which effectively made the 1920s a very fun time. So during the presidency of Warren Harding, Herbert Hoover was appointed Secretary of Commerce. So Hoover made his mark during World War I. He was the leader who spearheaded the Belgium Relief. And I will probably make an episode on the Belgium Relief because it's a really great story coming from World War I. But the footnotes, the summary of it is basically Belgium was starving because the French and Germans and the British were fighting just south of their country. And so Hoover, who had just happened to be happened to be in London at the time when World War I breaks out, he kind of just takes control of this Belgium relief. He starts to gain funds for it. And it was a very neutral affair. The Germans condoned it. They allowed basically the Belgian population to survive during these years of war. And as word got out of his efforts in that, he grew very popular. So he was almost one of the strongest war heroes at the time, despite not being a general or really partaking in the war at all, besides the volunteerism efforts. But Hoover had been away from the country for several decades. He had been in London. He had been in Australia and China. And so when he did come home, he wasn't as politically in the know in his homeland. And he didn't know really who was deserving of trust. So there was a couple of people who did want Hoover to run for president in 1920. And he ultimately decided against it for various reasons. But he did join the administration for Harding. And so Hoover recounted in his memoirs that when he joined President Harding's administration, he kind of thought of it that there was a lot of undesirable characters in it. And the characters, they would eventually be known in history as the Ohio Gang. So Ohio Gang was basically just a big ol' corruption ring. So Harding, he was a boy's boy kind of guy. So it felt to me, reading about him and trying to understand this, that he was the 1920s version of a big partier. So upon becoming president, Harding took a very strong nepotism track. He appointed many of his friends from back home into prominent cabinet positions.

"Joe hill Toni, Homer Yankee Stadium on Tuesday, 100 years to the day Babe Ruth hit the first home run at the original ballpark in The Bronx. Otani turned on an 88.7 mph sweeper from Clark Schmidt and had a 116.7 mph drive that landed in the Yankees bullpen in right center, 391 feet from home plate. It was Otani's fourth home run of the season and 8th and 18 games against the Yankees. On April 18th, 1923, Ruth kept a four run third inning with a three run Homer off Boston's Howard M key in New York's four one win over the Red Sox. I'm geffen coolbaugh.

Is Political Gridlock Good for Crypto?

"One of the big bits of news in the political world this week has been the absolute dogfight for the Republican speaker vote in the House. If you're not in the United States, the TLDR is that Republicans took back the house, AKA Congress and last fall's midterm elections. As one of their first orders of duty, they need to elect a speaker to lead them, and this is not gone so well. We are now four days and 12 ballots into the process. Throughout that, Republican Kevin McCarthy has failed to gain the majority required to be seated as House speaker, holding up the swearing in of hundreds of new members and delaying any legislative work. Despite holding a majority in the House, Republicans have been stymied by a group of hard right members of the ultra conservative freedom caucus who defected from their party to endorse several alternative candidates. Now, obviously the ins and outs and rights and wrongs of this are way, way beyond the scope of this show. But the key thing for us to know is that only 15 times since the inaugural Congress in 1789 did House speaker require more than one round of voting to be elected. The last time this occurred was exactly 100 years ago in 1923, when 9 rounds of voting were required to elect a speaker. Again, without a speaker, nothing in the House can move forward, including committee appointments. Hearings are the adopting of new rules for how the chamber will operate. Because of that, this does impact crypto. In December, the House financial services committee convened a hearing to investigate the collapse of FTX. That committee is also responsible for economic stability issues and financial system oversight, as well as being the main body which proposes and refines draft bills related to its policy area. Without a House speaker, no appointments to the committee can be ratified and important legislation around financial services, including crypto policy can not progress. Before Congress concluded last year, there were a number of crypto bills which were being considered with great urgency, a law regulating stablecoins had reached an impasse, but the matter was considered to have serious importance and time pressure. More broad regulatory bills like the lummis gillibrand sponsored responsible financial innovation act and the state now boozman sponsored digital commodities consumer protection act had been proposed in the Senate but would also need to pass in the House as well. So what does this all portend for legislation to come? I don't think it's unreasonable to think that if Republicans who hold the balance of power in the House can't even come together on an agreement on appointing a speaker, there is a serious possibility of pretty substantial gridlock in Congress in general. For the crypto industry, there may be an element that no news is good news here. Without a functional legislative body to enact new regulation, the industry could continue to grow without additional government oversight and restriction.

Rep. Dan Crenshaw Implies Anti-McCarthy Republicans as 'Terrorists'

"By the way, back in 1923, the last time we went through this, it was 9 ballots, 9 ballot votes. May I just tell you how disappointed and disgusted I am with Fox News right now. They are, they are the mouthpiece for Kevin McCarthy. Yesterday, on Fox News radio, which is supposed to be a conservative, you know, they, again, they Shroud themselves and they embrace the fox logo, but that's about as far as the conservative goes over their radio network. Sad to say that. I used to work over there. Anyway, Dan Crenshaw was on a Fox News radio show yesterday. And he called the 20 House Republicans terrorist. I want you to listen to cut number 6. Get another scalp and another scalp, whether it's whether it's Boehner or Paul Ryan or then McCarthy, scalise would just be next. We all know it. We just can't allow that to happen. That's why those of us are saying, look, you pushed us into this corner. So now we're saying we won't vote for anyone, but McCarthy. That's why we're saying it because we can not let the terrorists win. That's basically what's happening.

"Yeah i just feel late tap just feel like somehow because the dole whip has options in flavors and in drinks or no drinks option. They don't have options for popcorn. They do in paris. Though doesn't impair aside flavored popcorn that you know yes. They do and galaxy. They have to see all right now. I know a. You'll you love doing this. So i did not rank these in my personal preference order. I did and i'm probably gonna disagree with these tomorrow. But i'm gonna go ten. Eero ten is having the disney transportation to yourself. 'cause sure it's nice you're going from ten to lowest to highest yes or your least various item. Okay go ahead air next. We have the limo service. It's nice disagree. "A little dessert party and then they park in the bay out front imagine kingdom and you watch the fireworks from the water. Oh right that's the fireworks cruise. Or i was thinking about the grand one cruise. You can also do lead to do which is booked the grand one yacht but that's far more expensive than three dollars five dollars but but this is the same idea. Is that and accept your with twenty or forty people you don't know as opposed to eighteen people you do know if you do in your own renting the yacht so the fireworks cruise is not the yacht. That's a good thing you brought that up. It is a far less indy. It's a far less expensive options fun to be out on the water. He gets some snacks. And you get to watch the fireworks from a different angle or you can do a dessert party in park pretty much where they pick a spot to be. It's tomorrowland terrace for example magic kingdom and all these great but i would honestly say that the grain one is obviously what i would do but i would rather do a dessert party than one of those pontoon boat. So would i personally. Yeah but if some it's fun to be around the water too but yeah we like the desert parties and none of these are really bad options. I know but i agree with you. I would prefer the. I like the desert party and you you eat the one we did into terrace. And then they take you out to the little grassy area in the hub training if you haunt and stuff like that so definitely a nice little three dollar sign little luxury you'll feel special you're again. You're in areas where people other people can go a crowded fireworks so a nice little fun luxury number. Seven is one that really a couple on here. You can't really do this but if it happens to you really. Great thing is a little luxury that you'll appreciate. This is more of a disney moment. That happens rarely but happen to us recently and we went. Wow wow nice is this. And that is what having disney transportation bus a monorail car or even vote all to yourself. It's so nice is really amazing. There's nothing like being on. This is so rare and just happened to us in august so rare to be on disney bus entirely by yourself honestly better than going there and having the bus right there for you. I'd prefer this. We had the whole thing to ourselves and it can also happen on a boat again. These are rare. But if you're let's say in the magic kingdom mary or even in the epcot area and you're taking a friendship to park from the beach and you have the entire boat to yourself feels really cool. You're like oh this is so nice. It is a nice little luxury. So this monorail car. We once had like a car with the two benches and because there's no screen in between anymore. it's like two cars. That are connected. We we are family was in one and there were only two other people in the connected car so that was really cool. Wasn't all alone wasn't all along but it was almost and this is a zero dollar sign. But it's just one of those nice little luxuries that can have so if that happens to you appreciate it and just take a minute to go. This is so nice to have our private transportation. Essentially that's what it is. I think that's delay-free one on there. Because most little things cost money. The next one is a three dollar sign item for me. I've never done it. But i know you and mommy have since spa spa day..

"Now we've been admittedly. I've started this off with all these pretty big price tag items except for the limo. Now we're going to go to a two dollar sign. Genie plus the genie. Plus number five on the list. So in case you getting confused or mixed up by all this stuff. The genie was recently announced by disney. It's basically part of the my disney experience app and jeannie plus is where you pay fifteen dollars per person per day to use the lightning lane or the fast lane so for us. It's forty five bucks a day which is not a bad but i have heard complaints that if you have bigger families it cost more but i mean the same can be said for park tickets like it is on a per exactly. It's two per person. It's totally relative. You don't have to do it but remember today. We're talking about little luxuries. This is about as well. There is a little over one but this is about as little as you can get. I don't think disney's gonna make this any cheaper. It's really not. I wish they had a an unlimited expensive version like they do. A universal have to be really expensive. Universals is right. it's almost. it's three hundred bucks. A person. Dan thing but and to be fair they do have that. It's called a vip tour. So if you want to have that little luxury. I highly recommend the genie plus people. Listen we know we love. You are distant listeners. But a lot of disney listeners just loved not listeners but disney travelers love to complain about any change. You will always find a huge group complaining about it they're nostalgia. Ns things i complain about to. But i don't re- league get overly worked up about and there's a lot of stuff i hate as you know if you listen to the show that the imagine years of don but whatever it all shifts and changes every ten years or so so but genie plus i really do consider a nice little two dollar sign luxury. That can make a difference. You get to book your fast passes and you can just one after the other. It's very similar to the way the old paper fast pass worked really. You could only hold one of those at a time. So then you'd use it. Then you'd go get your next one so sorta kinda the same thing just a paid version. But i think it's a nice little luxury to have. No one's forcing you to use it but it's there if you want to. That's very true. That's a good attitude. Daddy number six also has a couple of variations. You kinch slump these all into one. But we're going to try. We have fireworks accuses and dessert party. Yes if you want now. This i put at three dollar signs so still not super expensive and it can vary in price but if you want a nice little luxury of being able to see the fireworks without the hassle of having to sit around and wait somewhere in line which is i hate. That's an enjoyable experience you not. Nobody wants to sit in a crowd for an hour getting pushed around and people stand in front of you. And then you get mad and everybody he gets angry so the first one the fireworks cruise when they're running a depart from the hotels in the bay lake areas Sometimes from the contemporary or other hotels to see what they're doing now it's one of those sort of pontoon boats with the little sorta shade sail roof on it and they cruise around and you have.

"Oh did you sorry staff. I missed my mr pun. So if if you're i is swim wanna go. Swimming is the first thing you can easier on yourself would. But that's what you'd like to do not anymore so when you were younger your i was that network that was when we were going frequently. Now we have to hit places now. It's more cultivate right. I don't understand with them. Means now we have an itinerary. We have place we have to hit. We go straight to the parks. Well not always now. We do well. It depends everything depends. So i'm telling you i recommend so straight to sort out to your recommendation for someone okay. I recommend you go straight to the parks because when you get there you're kind of you wanna explore like you're kind of like i'm in disney. Like i just got here. Let's do something. I don't know going to the pool. Just kind of insect climactic. Well then that would lead into my will so for me. I think i would agree. The i you know my first thing. When i just check into the hotel regardless of which one it is i just sort of like to take it. In you know the disney deluxe resorts usually for us or always for us not usually always deluxe resorts villas. And i just like to take in the ambiance for me. It makes me. I'm back you know we're home. We'll do like to go to a park so well. Yeah but see now. I want to do that in front of cinderella castle. Well hang on. we're not. We're you're actually leading into my next one okay. So we've done the hotel. I didn't mean to do that. First thing to do in a park when maybe you wanna go park by park if it's different so now you've checked in you hit your first park. What do you recommend. And or like for yourself as the first thing to do when you walk through those gates. Let's talk about magic kingdom. I you've walked in you check in you go right to the monorail you head to magic can you them and the first thing i recommend anyone does especially if you go a lot and you won like have one for each trip is take a picture in front of cinderella castle classic now. Do you recommend people get a photo pass to do that. Or diy I don't know. I think if you have voted pass. It's certainly better because you can get your whole family in it and it would probably be a better picture. I don't know how good of phones people have in the cameras but fits professional camera. I seem we'll be better quality and then they can also do like a stuff with it and editing. But kirk in the photo pass up. Yeah oh you mean when they when they do the medical ones where things like. Now they're going to have those new snapchat filters so you can have magical stuff on your own if you haven't heard snap. It's our fair listeners. The snap filters snap has teamed up with disney and starting with the fiftieth anniversary. You'll be able to take pictures in the parks on your phone through snap. And they'll be special disney filters yes. Oh that is so cool. And i may have to open dust off the app that sits unused my phone and the time you open it as more at disney. And i make you okay. So the classic castle photo is a. It's a that's a good recommendation..

"We love the mall you will meet cinderella herself and get a great photo op in side. Her castle which i think is very cool and very special and then four other of her princess friends will be up while you're reading but you meet her first she. It is her house you. Yes you get to walk up the cool steps feel like you are cinderella. I really like it there. Think cinderella's royal tables very cool at to tell you as a little girl. I can assure you i loved it. They're just little. And even though prince's they have stopped for little princess as well. So i can't speak to that now. But they do. And then another thing for your cinderella themed walt disney world vacation that i would recommend is the cinderella secrets. We're gonna tell them all today. But i do have. I'll put it in the show notes. I'll put a link to it. There are five cinderella in and around the castle. So if you're doing cinderella themed vacation. It's a really fun thing to do this. Little sort of treasure hunt to find all five of them and take pictures of all five of them one map for your children. Yes and one of them is very very challenging. Have you found it. Of course we found the mole share. Have you i found. Oh have a well. I found it for you. Let's put it that way. Share a couple of times. Actually all right so your cinderella theme vacation state the grand. Floridian go to cinderella's royal table meet cinderella any of these locations nineteen hundred park fair for dining and do the five cinderella secrets. So that's sort of how to bring a cinderella theme to your vacation if you have a cinderella fan in your party now let's change it up next and go to another fun character mickey mouse and friends the classic now. This is one we thought about where to stay in. Amelio both where you should stay for mickey mouse or mickey and friends themed as they haven't yet created a mickey mouse resort. We're still waiting disney. We're all waiting so for now. We have to settle for the contemporary. Which i think is a pretty good match to disney's contemporary resort. There's a number of reasons why first of all on the grounds there a amazing mickey that metal statue outside on the by the way to the pools by the doc. It's a great shock for photo ops. So mickey is on full display there but not only that. He has a lot more in that hotel does he know. Oh yes he does. In fact one of the stores is fantasia. A classic mickey film and of course chef mckee chef maki so everyone's.

"I'll i'll give it a neutral but it really should get a thumbs down because it like teacups in the sense you're looking at the ride cited. What slinky dog. Same thing you're looking at the ride. You're getting excited. You're building up now. The visual of the ride is cool. Because you can see at the line stinks. The line is just that crappy little lineup at when you board their stone because then you have like the toys and like they're scaling like on the ceiling around the boarding. But compare it. All to toy story mania k. That is a better. that's your problem. You're comparing. Of course i separate is the whole point of the episode recurring airing which ones are good. And which ones toy story mania. You can't see the ride. But i think one good line. Yeah it's got a lot to look at a thumbs up at least their stuff to look at. It doesn't bore you as you go through now. Mickey minnie's runaway railway. Oh give it a neutral. It's okay. I guess again when they re do these rides when they change from the great movie ride. They didn't really go crazy with the line. You can't really see the ride. So i love making. I like the right so we'll give it a neutral about that yet. Really see the rights of its. But you can't see the right. Oh so it's bad okay. Smuggler's run riding the millennium falcon. That's a good one. Yes that's a good. It's a great attraction because you see the millennium falcon. So who doesn't to that. And do i love the lineup. Too fast discovers. There's tons of things to look at in that line. Even little bird nests installed chess. there's hidden mickey's to find so definitely want smuggler's run means keep your eye out in that line. Definitely i need them to have like a four compartment you go into. I need them to have that. Well maybe when they redo the q. In twenty years okay. Rockin roller coaster. That is a good q- oh kelly. It's the worst. Have the story the setup they have the whole shelter first of all super strong. I think it's visually appealing with the big guitar until they change it. But the big guitar out there you wanna go on. The ride looks pretty cool..

"Queuing you up for the ride and you have to stand on the little circle and match the apple. You're thinking of the fast. Pass line standby by line does go through the lab and there's the guy in water. Yeah what do you ever want to wait two hours though to see that. So here's what. I'm gonna say 'cause you've never been on this the full the full line your you know. It's not do new favor with the fast pass light so i will agree. The line for the fast pass is sort of utility. The key the regular cues not bad they do make it a little bit interesting and then you get to the pre show in the right itself and it looks pretty cool from the outside. So i am actually. I'm getting a thumbs up. Of course it's a thumbs up. You mean to tell me. They made it interesting. Yeah marginally i'll play and then we have dinosaur which i'm giving a thumbs down. It's sort of an average line. There's some stuff to look at. And then you get to the pre show which i don't i guess you could count as the queue or the line but still i think they don't actually. I'm giving it a neutral. Let's i'll give it a neutral okay expedition everest. That's that's cool line. I give it a thumbs up on both. I give it a thumbs up because it keeps in theme with the ride and it is engaging but it's not. I think it's really immersive. I think they've done a great job on everest. It's immersive it'll put you in the mountain. And i can feel but if you're not someone that would do that if you're not going to be so intriguing. The fast pass line is good. That's what i like about that. That's another thing because normally the fast lines are fast. And they're kind of boring but this was not because i sorta like lineups with tons of detail so that way you can go on them for years and find little things in each one and expedition. Everest is one of those lines that has so many little things going on like desk for stuff all over them and all the little artwork and you.

"Cool. It's okay the pirates. A moderate thumbs up. I just don't like looking at pirate self-governed worse mine train. Well it's line. Well it's got those games right that we discovered magic hours again. We usually go fast. Pass away for years and years and discovered at one time. Because you can see a bit of the coaster. I guess it draws you in you sort of wanna go on it. I like the actual line. When i'm talking to is yeah well. The fast line is actually for everything. It's pretty good because pretty short and fast and the regular line does have interactive games. So i am giving. I'm giving a thumbs up thumbs up by like the interactive games which is very similar to haunted mansion. Well let's talk about haunted. Mansion haunted mansion did a redo and twenty eleven their line. Chess kiss their line. A thumbs up and many people don't know there's a murder mystery in the line is what nah they. They have the busts of foul five or six or seven. I can't remember how many there are now but if you actually read. What's on them. There's a murder mystery and you can figure out which one of those was the killer and how the killer ultimately died him or herself so haunted mansion draws you in because it's pretty cut yes but the line itself. They did an amazing job when they redid it to. I mean kids like to play. Do you wanna go on haunted mansion. There's the musical things and all the stuff you can touch in line but very annoying when you're in the standby line it's moving and you're trying to read things to tinker with moving. So here's my tip. People take pictures of the busts inaugural save from every angle front and back and what's written on them and see if you can figure out who was killer. Oh i will alright. We need to It's okay actually. I give it a thumbs down but for kids. I guess it's okay. i again. Not the target demographic journey of the little mermaid. That's it's it. Looks good from the outside i would say the line is neutral except it does have a very very cool hidden. Mickey that if you have to stand at the right angle to see it it comes together three goal and look at this hidden mickey and then you have fun and then open the lines moving and one of my favorites. I'm gonna. i'm going to end up here on one of my favorites in this park other than the haunted mansion. And my least favorite of all. In fact i've gave it a double x. double-fault dabble so enchanted tales with bell. Amazing amazing everything going through bells cottage. Now there is a line outside. That's classic disney but at least it's through sort of the cottage grounds. I like it. I like the line..

"It does have a hidden mickey at least one as well some disappointed. No it's a saving grace. But i'm still giving it a thumbs down. I give it a neutral. Also you're not a toy story fan or this would appeal a toy story fan clearly. Not enough okay. Now here's one. I know you alike. I guarantee you a like the line. And it was redone in twenty twelve. And i'm talking about the classic dumbo line now. You like the line more than the could because what's in the line. Play area play area inside the circus tent so the right itself is visually appealing for anyone. Who doesn't like to see while there's to dumbo like two giant flying elephants right and then a circus with a bunch of lying is that what the thing in the middle is the circus top. It's the it's the little mouse in the middle. Well the thing in the world play area is yeah. Yeah so. I would say this is probably one of the best reimagined lines. They've ever done because that that used to be a let me just tell you. I'm very sick of getting rush through this line. Guess waiting so here you go. So i'm giving this thumbs up because my daughter is was rather wait the line if you include the player as the line include the player young player. So you're getting a little old for that now. Since amelia has just had her thirteenth birthday so happy birthday amelia. All right another classic old ride. Whose line i give thumbs down to jungle cruise. You know all these old rides. And i can't remember what it looks like. It's not a good thing until the very end when you board. There's really nothing to. It's just a bad experience. Mad tea party ride itself. There's no way you can actually see the ride for mad tea. Party right the whole ride because look like dumbo. The same as the carousel. There's like there's no line the line the right now..

"Luxury if you're looking for monetary. They're not going to be quite. His flirty invites the grand floridian. But i would say i would maybe put those into their but but more so care me and beechwood fit trump now. So that's where you're going to stay. It is very very tropical at has been since day one. There's winding paths with all those polynesian sort of a hawaiian feel to them. Lots of tropical foliage the big leafed plants and water and they have a beach. Just can't go into the water. Used to be able to. When i was young and i was young. You could do it. I mean we used to swim in the lake. When you were young male they allowed you to sort of wade into the water but now is no go right. well now. It's blocked off most now. It's safe it was. it was fine. I mean for ten fifteen years. We swam in their water skied. And they're all sorts of stuff in there. And then i guess that bacteria that can appear in florida waters hit bay lake and that's the reason why they started. Shutting it down. River country was actually part of the lake lake water. I'm so why. Anyway i digress. Let's get baltimore. Tropical immersive disney vacation. So yes i'll i'm resort. You will stay in longhouse polynesian style. There are many types of rooms. Their club level there is actually quite nice as well club level is about one. I really liked the hawaii building. The bungalow sort of blocked the view. Now so of course they're bungalows. Are there as well. So if you want the if you want a luxury tropical paradise. I would almost argue that the bungalows could be part of the definitely are part of the luxury disney beach. Let me ask you this. I mean you said it for the last one. So you're on your tropical disney vacation. You're staying at the polynesian. Do you wanna bungalow or do you want club level. I wanna bungalow. Oh you why. Would you pick club level because it's the grand floridian so i really like the club level at the polynesian. Like it too. It's just the bungalow. You would stay in a bungalow that bungalows the cavuto bungalows is. I called him and also club level. You get to stay inside the main hotel now. where are you going to dine. "Of year when it's decent florida weather but especially when it's hot in the summer head back to the hotel they'll close the pools if it's thunder and lightning but if it's not thunder and lightning swimming in the rain is awesome. Get yourself a umbrella chair cabana if you want to blow some money and let the kids have fun in the pools or water parks waterfront summer. Great now the us again. They do get busy thunder and lightning. That does happen. They will shut so again in the morning. If you want to do a waterpark on a hot day literally always closed in the afternoon. Like shut down in the stormy weather so that sort of all these things are things to bear in mind for walt disney world vacation in the summer. And you know when they were choosing florida having only had disneyland. They were well aware what they yes they were that weather was. You know florida vs california. California's pretty temperate. It does get hot. We've had some pretty hot california something out of the question. tell me. Climate change isn't happening it is there's been hotter and hotter years even where we live so if you think canada's the great white north come in the summer just toronto and you'll be close to a hundred degrees but florida in this. They were aware of the weather. So you know they planned for not only hurricanes. But that's another thing. Florida summer into the fall. Hurricanes do or can happen and disneyworld happened to us when we were there. It has once what you're very very young. I'm sorry wait what well it didn't. It didn't pan out at me. It ended up missing it. We are at the polynesian in fact it was one year earlier trips and we got the warning in our room. Here is the hurricane protocol. They will keep you locked in your room and there's a lot of things you won't be able to move anywhere realize first safety. Yeah but i'm just saying so. Pardon me what what. I'm just saying that hurricanes are an one did hit as you recall member to three years ago. Yeah but direct head. No we weren't but orlando what i'm saying. As walt disney world can be hit by hurricanes built it all the buildings the structures to withstand cain force winds. Yeah they are working trees. Come down and there was quite a bit of damage for years ago especially to trees but we were there and it ended up missing us but we still got a lot of bad cloudy rainy weather from the fringes other but it is another thing to bear in mind so i guess the moral of the story is as we come to the end of our thirty minutes of disney magic. That florida in the summer has the most things that are hard to plan for due to weather. But you just have to be prepared. Nino hurricane do happen but sometimes they miss an they are built to withstand it and i think it only hit when it was really bad. I think there was irma. Few years ago really really bad. Yeah it ended up carving inland rate there. But it's you know what knowledge is power so we're hoping that through this episode. We've just made you wear if you've never visited walt disney world in the summer before that young..

"Used to have like tinkerbell knows what it's called all the characters that fly were on it. Well actually it's pretty cool story. The balloons themselves come from paris and there is one at disneyland paris. They're made in france and they're flown over and every few years forget how many they have to change the balloons right to keep them in good order so the one that's there now. I don't think it has any characters on the it was the previous one that was called characters in flight and i really liked that one because it was disney. But it's really neat. If you've never been up in a hot air balloon this is not the wizard of oz. You're not in the little basket. It's actually pretty large. I don't know how many people were on it thirty something like that. Oh probably not now but it's sort of like a gigantic donut and you can walk around the outside edge all the way around and people like if you take pictures like old key west saratoga that a near the you might see it in of the background photos really. So you've got you get an amazing view. You see you know your disney springs but what stands out as you can see the contemporary bay lake tower and magic kingdom behind it so if it's a clear day there's a couple of options on a clear day it's great you're eating it tons of amazing pictures and it's a full three six so you can walk all the way around this donut with everybody else. Taken pitcher stays up there for. I don't know ten minutes. Only that feel it's long enough. Put it that way but at night. It's also cool because you can see pretty much every single nighttime show. Angie 'cause you can see your way around disney springs so few forgotten map post cool to see you know it's great. It's really neat. It is tethered. So you're not gonna fly away is so it rises and falls so it's a safe adventure but it's really worth doing. This safety of a is scared of heights. Obviously it is. Hi four hundred feet or something. I forget how high it actually is. But it's pretty cool so highly recommend recommend that do you reckon. Do you recommend everything. We're talking about today much. I'm a very adventurous person. Will the next one you were quite quite good at. I think you know this one. What is it surfing at typhoon lagoon surfing at typhoon lagoon. It starts early in the morning before gone. It's literally dark out when you get there and you. You have the entire wave pool at typhoon lagoon to yourself. They have two sizes of waves small to footers to learn. But then they crank it up to six footer higher overhead and they built these things out and you are all alone. I think maybe two people go once so you basically have the whole wave pool to yourself and this is true adventure. Right they have. They have ron john. Surf teachers from coco beach and five. Am it's early in the morning. But the pools warm and well we do it. We do a lot of stuff in the summer. And it's awesome highly recommended. And i'll tell you.

"We don't often do these but sometimes lets talk about things that are news worthy right now and disney travel. Disney's fiftieth anniversary is and recently if you read my blog at my pillow braddock dot com disney announced. There's a little shameless plug. Disney announced their first official announcement about what we can expect for the fiftieth anniversary celebrations. Coming later this year personally. I'd love to see it all and you know in normal times. They probably would have begun already because even though the official date that it opened his october first so october first twenty twenty one is the official day fifty but because of covid. They're they're not starting until then and they're they've announced they're going to go eighteen months which they always like to stretch things out. Of course you'd expect nothing less you'd expect nothing less so let's start by talking about what we know already. Which really isn't much is not much. Let's talk about what we hope to see her. What we'd like to see as part of the fiftieth anniversary celebrations. Alright well. they haven't really released much information. But what the heck released. I have to admit to me. It sounds exciting. I'd like i'd like to see some of these things. So let me do a quick recap and then you tell me what you think. Sounds exciting to you. So first of all. They're calling it that the world's most magical celebration. I love that name. Just sorta cool because the world you know disneyworld. Most magical is what they call the park. People often get that wrong if you're a disney fan. It's probably a pet peeve of years when the non frequent travelers call. Walt disneyworld the happiest place on earth or in. It's even worse when we were like. Oh yeah and. I went to disney land in the summer and i went on like all of his rise. That don't actually go to. disneyland clearly. Went to disney disneyworld. Yes yes. So we digress. But they are calling it the world's most magical celebration and they they try to get too clever sometimes they've called the decor shimmering iridescent so ear in caps like so that's what they've called it end. Do you remember what they did. You read my blog post by the way. Yes i did. Okay good for you. What are they calling the icons. Do you remember the beacons of mankins of magic. And i just wanna to do a little aside. A while ago we did a disney parks icons episode. And we talked about hollywood studios how it doesn't really have an icon. It used to have the hat and amelia said well on my cup cup by disney starbucks cup says that hollywood studios icon is the tower of terror and so officially for the fiftieth anniversary..

"I like it so definitely check that out contemporary. I mean i'm just sorta going in order here. But i'm gonna say i think and i never dawned on me till i was thinking about this episode. It's my f- i think. It's the best deluxe resort for shops because it has the the will. The fantasia market is just their little marketplace with half foods but the fantasia is the sort of toy story story. Voice store like shop. And that's where they have their phone cases and things like i love fantasia two and then right across from that is baby gifts or bb g and it doesn't stanford buena vista. It's bayview gifts. That's a great shop to. They have jewelry clothing kitchen stuff. But it's fairly large to spend such longtime. It's a good store. Yeah and. I'm going to compare this right now to grand floridian because while i love the grand floridian s. you know. Shops aren't real shot. Well they've combined the men's and women's into one which i don't like it. They've just made it smaller. There's good stuff. But it's too small now. Called curiouser clothiers am mouse mercantile is not a good store. It's their little toy store. Version of the version of fantasia. It's okay but it's just fantasia as much better. it's it's i. I like at least and then but basin white people will like that. That's the sort of what are they sell soaps and sort of things there. it's upstairs. it's of like that shop. you can smell it. that's for sure. And then the bitty bobby boutique since they opened that this little shop there so and then they have the sandy cove gifts sort of the general store. So there's there are a lot of shops the more than any other resort. But i still think for a shopping experience at our alexa contemporaries. My favorite. i mean if you're going to deluxe resort. You're not going there for the shops. Yeah but i wouldn't make a trip there to shop unless you wanna go to base and writer. The clothing store is good. There's some very high end like tom..

"With legendary designer Joseph Abboud every Saturday at 5 P.m. on 77. Del anyway, ABC. Now the O'Reilly update brings you something you might not know. Exactly 98 years ago today, a team of British archaeologists discovered a sealed chamber very deep in the sands of Egypt. It would be the first people to enter the room in more than 3000 years. The archaeological crew had finally discovered the tomb of King Tut. The journey began decades earlier, English explorer Howard Carter first arrived in the Middle East in the 18 nineties. In November, 1920 to his team finally found steps hidden in debris near the entrance of another two. The path led to an ancient sealed doorway. On February 16th 1923 Under the watchful eyes of local Egyptian officials. Carter opened the final door to the last chamber. Inside lay a sarcophagus with three coffins nested inside one another. The last coffin made of solid gold. Contain the mummified body of King Tut. The teenage ruler who lived around 1400 BC Rich is found in the tomb included golden shrines, jewelry statues, ah, chariot weapons and clothing. The perfectly preserved mummy was the most valuable the first one ever to be discovered. Treasures were documented and relocated to museums in Cairo and London. The news of Carter's dig, of course, made global headlines. Touch. Discovery would have a lasting impact on pop culture as well, sparking a series of comic books, horror movies like the Money and even a hit record from comedian Steve Martin.
