Moon Griffon: Why Do We Ignore Inner-City Crime?
"You're glad to have a policeman around when it's somebody doing something to you We've made it horn on police We make it a hard hard on police And then you've got so many people that don't want to be police anymore That was always an honorable profession Now once again let me say it if you get a police out of hand If police shoot some of my police do something wrong okay I understand How to get in trouble But what's amazing we don't focus at all on the crime that takes place in the inner cities every day Example I read today Today's Monday 19 shot in Chicago mostly black on black hunt I'm not going to race the I'm just trying to make a point Now if that would have been a policeman then we make it a big deal We honor people that police have killed And we make it like oh my God but folks just killings going on every day and every major city Roar areas And unless they are police shoots them unless a police Then it's not a big deal because police are not shooting people every day What I mean by that is they're not killing people like they do with some of these people that have been killed and it's been wrong We got them on film We got way more shootings going on in inner cities We never hear their names We never do anything about it

California won't require COVID vaccine to attend schools
"California won't be requiring schoolchildren to get the coronavirus vaccine. I'm Ben Thomas with the latest. In 2021, governor Gavin Newsom announced the state would add the COVID-19 shot to its list of mandated vaccinations for children to attend school, saying it would eventually apply to all of California's 6.7 million public and private school children. Since then, however, nearly all pandemic restrictions have been lifted and the state's coronavirus emergency declaration officially ends at the end of this month, while that does not have an impact on the California department of public health, the department says it's not currently exploring emergency rule making to add COVID-19 to the list of required school vaccinations. Noting any changes to required K through 12 immunizations are properly addressed through the legislative process. Though it adds, it does still strongly recommend COVID-19 immunization for students and staff. I'm Ben Thomas

FDA's advisers back plan to simplify COVID-19 vaccinations
"The FDA is working toward making coronavirus vaccines more like an annual flu shot. Scientific advisers for the Food and Drug Administration are helping to decide how and when to update the recipe for COVID-19 vaccinations, and whether Americans need once a year boosters at an advisory panel meeting Thursday, the FDA's vaccine chief, doctor Peter Marx, says vaccinations should be made simpler. In order to facilitate the process of optimally vaccinating and protecting the entire population moving forward. Members voted unanimously that people should get the same formula for initial vaccinations or a booster to protect against prevalent strains. Many questions remain, like whether young people would really need yearly boosters and whether people with weak immunity might need two doses right now more than 80% of Americans have had at least one COVID-19 shot, but only 16% of those eligible for the updated boosters have gotten one. Anthony Fauci Shares His Final Message From the White House
"To be thankful for this week. Including Anthony Fauci, no longer being in our government. Now I haven't seen the last of Anthony Fauci. I got to tell you. We got to get him back in front of Congress. We got to get this leadership fight figured out. We got to get committees filled, and then we got to start sending subpoenas out like frisbees. To every single one of these people. Fauci gave his final message today at The White House play cut 69. So my message and my final message may be the final message I give you from this podium is that please, for your own safety for that of your family, get your updated COVID-19 shot as soon as you're eligible to protect yourself, your family and your community. This guy never stops. Paid to you by Pfizer AstraZeneca Moderna and Johnson & Johnson. Fauci continues. He says the real danger is those of us that have not been vaccinated. Play cut 72. In vaccinated and unboosted versus vaccinated plus boosted. That doesn't mean you shouldn't get boosted, but the real danger is in the people who have not been vaccinated. So that's where we expect if we're going to see a problem this winter, it's going to, yeah, if you see a problem, it's going to be the unvaccinated people. Doctor Anthony Fauci is the worst of the fourth branch of government. There has to be a mandate for this new Republican House of Representatives. To put on full display the lying the cheating, the stealing the deceit. The self enrichment. Of Anthony Fauci.

"To get back to some sense of normalcy. Is a little bit more traffic. It just reopened this month only after a very long time, and it was very difficult to survive. Rick Akala and her siblings run their late father's photocopy shop in my local market. Lost both their parents in the past year. It's been tough. They're desperate for business but still scared of the coronavirus. Gallas strung a rope across the front of the shop and pass this things across the customers outside the evoking over years, so we need to take vaccine and public questions for us. She managed to get one vaccine dose before our state, Maharashtra and many others started running out less than 4% of people nationwide have gotten two doses. India's government has come under widespread criticism for vaccine shortages. In a televised speech to the nation this week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi pushed back. He borrowed my vaccination get a farm. India has been faster at vaccinating the many more developed nations, Modi said. Which is true in real numbers. India has administered about 250 million shots. But most of those are first doses the vaccines used here required to and India has nearly 1.4 billion people. Makana varsity game, Modi announced that starting later this month, all adults will be eligible for free covid 19 shots. This is a reversal of his previous policy in which the central government vaccinated only those aged 45 up and left it to individual states to vaccinate younger people, often for a fee. The reversal is welcome news to Malini. I Sola, who heads a health watchdog called the All India Drug Action Network. These steps should have been taken with before, she says. The government made a series of missteps early on, which were difficult to correct once cases began to soar. It purchased very few vaccine doses initially, and it did so relatively late in January, cases were low, so it didn't feel urgent, and the government was trying to negotiate better prices. There was always going to be a large amount of vaccine, but quiet humanized a huge population and the government really should have made efforts not just in terms of purchasing, but also efforts early on to utilize unused capacity instead of prioritizing its own citizens, the way the Us did India exported and gave away some of its initial vaccines. It also aired by purchasing most of them from a single source. The Serum Institute of India It's the world's biggest vaccine maker. It's a demonstration of what happens when you put all of your eggs in one basket. Milan Vaishnav, director of the South Asia program at the Carnegie Endowment in Washington, D. C. Says serum over promised and under delivered. Serum has blamed a shortage of raw materials from the U. S price caps by the Indian government in a fire that damaged part of its facility. Frankly, the Serum institute story What they're telling to the U. S government what they're telling to the government of India what they're saying publicly. Those stories don't match up. And in April when India's caseload really skyrocketed, Serums CEO left for the UK, he told a British newspaper he was receiving threats. He's still there and has declined recent NPR requests for an interview. India has since been diversifying, ordering hundreds of millions of doses from other Indian companies. The country's health minister says all Indian adults will be vaccinated by the end of this year. Most experts, though, say that's unlikely. It's been really difficult to even book appointments. There's a huge demand, and there's like a very limited supply. Burti Thomas is a computer programmer who took matters into his own hands. The government's vaccine booking website and APP are notoriously buggy, and there aren't enough appointments to go around the slots that open up by like maybe 200 or 300 at a single time. So Thomas designed a hack. He wrote a bit of computer code that essentially monitors the government app for you and alerts you to exactly when and where slots open up. More than 3.5 Million Indians have used it. But Thomas says he worries about the hundreds of millions of Indians who don't have Internet access. Meanwhile, whenever you make.
