"Hey, what's up, everybody? Welcome back. It's rich eisen show basketball podcast here on a Wednesday. It's march 8th for winding down, the NBA season. Joined by the guys, TJ Adam, what's up, fellas? What's going on guys? Everything good? What's up, boys? All is well. All is well. Yeah, all is well in your world, sixers are awesome. They're playing great. Yeah, you have some issues. Yeah, my team, not so much, Adam T your team. We're done. We still play basketball. We're done. We're not even in the play in anymore. It seems garbage. And we won't get a top 5 pick either. Don't get me started, please, Chris. Good enough. You haven't taken my cash to get someone started. We are at the point. I don't know Adam what do people know what are you talking about? I am a Chicago Bulls fan, if you guys don't know, massive Chicago Bulls fan. This team is in the middle of nowhere, not bad enough to get a top three lottery pick up. Not good enough to even make the playoffs. This is a complete absolute failure 29 and 36. Take away just rebuild this whole team, trade demar Derozan, and I like demar Derozan, but you need to get rid of him. You need to get rid of Zach lavine, if possible. Just pray that we get a superstar next year, Lonzo Ball. This guy might never return. He might just be in Chino Hills the rest of his life chilling with levar. So Adam, are you saying they should build the team around OG pat bev because that's what it sounds like. By the way, the Chicago Bulls social media feeds. We're asking like Patrick Beverly is Derrick Rose when he came back to the polls. Son is finally coming back. Oh, he's here. It's the return of our favorite players from Chicago. He went to Marshall high school, which was the same high school where Arthur agee went in the movie hoop dreams, which is just a random fact. And my grandpa Lester's RIP, he played high school basketball there in the 30s. My grandpa actually led them. I think downstate. But yeah, that's what was the average in like Ada game. I'd say like ten and 7. Where are your grandpa's number? 'cause that would be incredible. It is pretty crazy that pat Evans and my grandpa Lester ziff went to the same high school together. That's amazing. But the bulls, all the bulls, all the bulls, people were acting like he's gonna save the team. It's like, no, he's a good role player. And if you're lucky, you'll get a celebration from him when you make the playoffs like he did of Minnesota. That's where I'm at. I'm done with this team. Well, I'm just done. I can't do it. I can't blame you, like you said, not bad enough to get in the top and maybe make some splash in the Victor sweepstakes, but not good enough in a league where 60s, two thirds of the league make the playoffs now with the play in, bulls the 11th seed in the east right now, two games back of the wizards. But look, it's all about Philadelphia right now. TJ, you're two teams, actually. Are playing well, the clippers are off to a rough start to the back half of the year, but they had a huge win the other night. Sixers though, oh my God, I am legit afraid that they're going to pass Boston for the two seed. And we're going to have to go on the road to Philadelphia, possibly in the second round. It's a good chance that it happened. You know, the sixers are 7 and three of their last ten and the big game was stopping the bucks winning streak, right? Was that Friday or something? It was Saturday. I'm sorry. I think we talk in the other day. I said Friday. That was a big game for the sixers down 15 at one point for them to come back and beat the bucks who were just on such a role. They were on a roll and they went with 1617 in a row. Yeah, I think it was 14. 14 in a row, okay? My numbers are off. But yeah, you know, you have hardened one game scoring 38 points and looking like the James Harden that we were talking about two weeks ago. And then the very next game, and he's like, okay, well, let me share what else I can do. Then he drops 20 dimes. It's like, man, we're playing very well right now. And embiid, you know, I'm going to continue to pound this table. You should. I know everyone has given Joker the props because he's averaging a triple double. But what MB does offensively, what he does defensively, I just can't believe this man isn't getting more respect, guys. I gotta be honest. And I know I'm a fan and maybe I'm looking at from the rose colored fan glasses. So allow you guys to talk a little bit more about it. But the man is the most dominant player in the league. Well, I mean, y'all and this is still in the league. I understand. But I don't know. And B just doesn't seem to be getting that love, guys, and I don't get it. Yeah, Joker. Joker is dominant, though, what he does and what he does for that team, the whole offense runs through him. He seems like he's like the point center out of him and be kind of relies on other people to get him the ball, but when he does get the ball, dude, he is just an absolute force. It's kind of crazy that his MVP odd let's see. Joker is -400 right now to win MVP. That is basically a lock with what do we got? 17, 18 games. That's in the regular season, something like that. Embiid plus four 50, Giannis 8 to one, and then it goes all the way up to Tatum 35 to one. Luca 50 to one. John morant, those are done. 250 to one. Willard 250 to one? It's crazy. Well, a lot of people online are saying that they think and beat should have won probably last year. Shouldn't win three MVPs, but that this is actually his best year out of all the three years if he won MVP three straight years. So it's kind of weird because, you know, I remember back in the 90s at least with Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley and Karl Malone, one MVP simply because they would not want to give it to Michael Jordan, so many years in a row. I think how many MVPs LeBron should have. Yeah. And so I don't know if they're going to do that anymore because to me, right now, they have the Denver Nuggets have the best record in the league. And Yoko is averaging a triple double. So it would be hard not to give him the embassy. This is the year that he deserves it, but also TJ, you can make the argument that MB has deserved it in the last couple of years. So maybe you just

"More things to throw you and then we'll do nothing on Sacramento. You just put the Lakers in there over Sacramento. You already said they don't play defense. Can I add something to it? This is what's so my two word phrase was going to be clutch offense. Their offense in the clutch is number one in the NBA. And it is by miles. There are a 129 points per 100 possessions in the clutch. It's an insane number. There are 11 points better than Brooklyn who actually still ranks number two, which will probably change at some point. Miles beyond everybody, but there are 26 on defense and since February 1st are actually 28th. So yeah, the defense is an issue. I'll tell you this much. If they can keep that three seed, and there are three above Phoenix in the last column right now. We're running out of games. They've only of 19 games left. That's going to be an impossible place to play. I think that possible. Well, not impossible. You know what I mean? I love that the Timberwolves are a 6th seed. Yeah, but you know, did you see them this weekend? There's flashes of like, oh my God, this could actually be a competent playoff team. Because Conley is starting to really ingratiate himself in the Conley way in the good ways, right? Yeah. Because if you look very good, it looks like he had fallen off a cliff there. Actually, he was leaking a little bit last year. I have a lot. I have a lot invested in them kind of being steady, the rest of the way, because forgotten in the Kendrick Perkins run this season was that he called the best backcourt, we

Reinhart scores 17 seconds into OT, Panthers beat Bruins 4-3
"The Panthers earned a wild four three overtime win against the bruins. It looked like Boston had grabbed two points. When David pasternak made it three two with 48.6 seconds left in regulation. But Alexander barkov tied it with just 2.4 seconds to play in the third period, giving a chance for Sam Reinhart to win at 17 seconds into overtime. It was a gutsy one to be able to come back. Obviously a pretty devastating one to give up with under a minute left. It was Florida's first win in 19 games when trailing after 40 minutes this season. The Panthers also received goals from Brandon montour and Sam Bennett. I'm Dave ferry

Swayman makes 31 saves as NHL-best Bruins beat Rangers 3-1
"The bruins continue to win on a historic pace by beating the rangers three to one in New York. Powwow saka scored barely a minute into the game to give Boston an early lead. Patrice bergeron scored early in the second and then the bruins sealed it when Connor Clifton scored in the opening minute of the third period. It's incredible. We got a special group. I think it's pretty obvious. I think we've known it from game one. And you know, every night we're getting contributions from everyone in the lineup. Bruins were now 15, one and three in their last 19 games got a solid game in net from backup golly Jeremy swimming, who stomped 31 at 32 ranger shots. Tom arram, New York

Celtics snap Nets' 4-game winning streak with 103-92 win
"Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum each had double doubles as the Celtics won for the 17th time in their last 19 games. One O three 92 against the nets. Brown got Boston started with a 20 point first quarter. Just being aggressive, you know, I seen one go in. I gotta have another good look. Another one in and it was on and cracking the best one. He finished with 34 points and ten rebounds. Tatum chipped in 29 points and 11 boards as the Celtics ended the nets four game winning streak. Kevin Durant led the nets with 31 points and Kyrie Irving added 18 with 8 boards. I'm Dave ferry.

Marner sets Maple Leafs points streak record in OT loss
"Alex killorn scored the game winner for Tampa Bay, just 33 seconds into the extra period at the lightning beat the Maple Leafs four to three. But with the teams combining for 15 penalties, 7 in the second period, killorn says it was hard to get into the flow of the game. A lot of guys didn't get a lot of chemistry with their lines just because we hadn't had a lot of 5 on 5 play, but in the third it kind of came alive. I think Toronto's Mitch marner opened the scoring with a short handed goal in the second and tied the game with a power play goal midway through the third with those tallies, marner extended his point streak to 19 games a Maple Leafs record. And the D.C. sports George Wallace believes if you get the good Carson Wentz, I think this thing to win 19 games, the schedule sets up for it. For once, and you have playmakers on offense and defense as well. You hope the defense takes that next step and you get chase young back at some point. And George wants a two and a start with Jacksonville, Detroit on the schedule, rob wood fort. They have the potential to be really strong at the point of attack on both sides of the ball, and that's the most important thing. They can win in the trenches. "Feel like we are in the throes of a playoff race and maybe it will when they come home and huge game. Homestand dodgers are going to be here this weekend. they play the pirates. They play the nationals. I mean they. There's i it could change if the reds play well this series come home and they play some huge games. A great american ballpark. I will tell you though as somebody who has a major opponent of expanding the postseason field. I mean look at where we are right now. The new york. Mets are a game under five hundred and they are three and a half games out of a playoff spot. The philadelphia phillies are a game over five hundred. They are two and a half games out of the playoff spot. These are not great teams. That doesn't mean that these teams can't get to the postseason get hot when a couple of series maybe even get to the world series but these aren't great teams. Can you imagine how down this thing would be if we had seven teams per league in the postseason which was talked about before last year. More importantly can you imagine the lengths to which owners will not try to build ninety five win teams. If winning eighty three games becomes very easy pathway into the postseason by the way if you want something that pretty much guarantees that big market teams are going to be in the playoffs. Every single year expand the field even further resin pirates. Tonight six thousand. Seven hundred. Wwl w wade miley and dylan. Peters will be your pitchers reds looking for their first series win in their last seven remarkable how many consecutive series they've lost and yet still effectively in the driver seat for that last playoff spot. "Should be beautiful, Beautiful, beautiful deal. They got a good field to, uh, speaking of great events in person. How about the Giants? Clinching a playoff spot with a win tonight at home against the Padres as well might as well. Let's just go do it. The man who Played a huge role in hiring Farhaan Society because the line right now on the, um a guest line, you know him. You love him. Giants President Larry Baer. Larry, This is a remarkable thing. The Giants are one win from clinching a playoff spot. Congratulations to you, guys. Good morning, Larry. Hey. Good morning. Good morning, Mac. Uh, it's incredible. I mean, it's really, really You know, pleased with where we are, obviously, And but you know, we're taking pause. And there's not just, um 19 games, not 18 19 games to go. But in addition to that, you know, obviously we want to, you know, Isaan lots of prizes here, but one big prizes to try to, you know to win the division and Taliban who won the division, but One thing we've learned over the years as you do celebrate milestones and accomplishments. Can I know Gabe and Farhaan and Scott and the group? All believe that you know, qualified for the playoffs is in accomplishment. So we're thrilled that that possibility exists on this home. Stand starting tonight. It's awesome. I mean, look at look at since you guys have built the stadium, there's only been this may see 2000. You guys made it 22. You made it. 23. You made it. 2010. You made it. 2012. You made it 2014. You made it 2016. You made it. This will be the eighth only the eighth time. I mean, it's a lot. Actually. It's a really good number. But what I'm saying is, it's a special occasion. So we know you guys are encouraging people to go out with $13 tickets tonight. Wonderful. Beautiful. Yeah, Come on, you know that. You know, when you look at the schedule, you know people that look at the schedule when we were fully open for capacity, which wasn't until about the middle of the year. In terms of, you know, coming to games that people say well, Monday night against Diego and September school back, it may not be. You know the number one target a game, but we have a great opportunity $13 tickets. It's also to see you know a possible a possible clinch. Which is great one thing on as you go through the years, it reminded me and you mentioned I think back to this is a year that doesn't get a lot of focus 2000 and three And as you remember your 2000 and two we went to Game seven of the World Series in 2000 and three Felipe was our manager, and we want 100 games in 2000 and three, right? Yeah, And and? And so there was some folks you know, inside the Giants who were just sort of okay. What kind of celebration? Should we have? Because we won the division that year? As with 100 games, 100 Okay, celebration. Should we have to win the division? Because my goodness last year we were in Game seven of the World Series. We have long way to go. I mean, we celebrate. Mm. Police, who I think in many ways is sort of a, uh, baseball and mortal, just a wonderful person and it really, you know, sort of a guru among one of the most well respected baseball. People on planet Earth said. Listen. We celebrate every milestone? Yeah, it's important in 162 game season and the guys the players, the coaches, the manager, you know, they think about February 10th when you report to spring training or whatever the data is, and they think about all the journey. And so that's why, um, while you know, everybody will say, Hey, we want to kill fish on top of the Dodgers and everything that should we clinch a playoff spot tonight or tomorrow. It's not worthy, and it's an important milestone. And I remember going back to 2000 and three again with the reference of the previous year being in Game seven World Series. Hey, is it a big deal? Clinching the division in that year, for instance, just as an example and the answer is was from yoga. Nobody who any less exalted than Felipe Alou. Uh, yes, It's a big deal. So there's I mean, can you spill the beans at all? About what? What will do Well, they plant Will the players pop Champagne for question? Yeah, well, I'm not like that, because that's really the players call and we have the manager of the coaches and how how they go about it, what they do and how they do it, So I think that that's you know, we'll leave that for the before Everybody's eyes. But, you know, I think that would certainly there will be a should we win tonight tomorrow whenever it will be celebratory in the ball inside the ballpark. You know, Larry Laboratory Field, OK? Yeah. Good. You guys do celebrations Well, too, But it will be because this is an incredible pennant race. I mean, right? I know that's 62. Neither you nor I remember 62. Um, but we do remember 93. And this is as close to 93 as it gets with the added bonus of the Giants can make the playoffs doesn't pose didn't missing out on the division. But there's a chance Larry of eclipsing the win record in San Francisco history here. I mean, this is simply it's almost I think we won't appreciate this pennant race until, like 10 20 years from now, this is the Dodgers supposed to be the best team. Bill PLASCHKE wrote a column at the start saying. Is this the best team in baseball history? And, you know they're not that far off from it. They're going to win 100 plus game and they're looking up at the German looking up at the Giants, Larry Yeah, which is incredible. I mean, you know when I look at each step along the way that this year and it's kind of hard, I think, sometimes in the moment to appreciate What? What? What? The group is accomplished, right? And and I go back. We're talking the other day about, you know, you look at the schedule. And we were talking the other day back when we come in new that the giant Dodgers Sunday night ESPN game was condition just one example of how that this team has risen to the occasion. We were looking at that game. Sunday night. Uh, good one so we could go last night, I guess and Sunday night ESPN game and then we would go to Colorado The next day. We called the Rockies and asked them to, uh, can you move the game time back, and they need to keep it as a day game as we have. We were that we understood. That's that's the way it works at Holiday Day game, but that we did off an hour. So they say, we'll move the game from 1 to 2 o'clock economy because we were going to get in about 1 30 in the morning, and so everybody's like, Okay, that's that's like Perhaps a horrible players schedule, right? You go, of course, field stuff enough as it is, and you're on very little rest and you coming up in emotional behavior series And what that what's of course, feel going to look like you know, Monday, Tuesday Wednesday And look at the way they roasted vacation. So that all these little pieces where the team you know what Just incredible credit to the players. The manager, the coaches thrown office will be able to get everybody prepared for each of these laws. These segments of the season that could be challenging And to not get into any big deals. It's been a pretty evenly tempered and we could get to this 100 plus winds. You know you avoid big losing streaks, right and You go back to 93..

"The Giants are winners. Let's get back to the calls. Let's go to Greg in Portland. Greg, How are you doing today? My friend. Hi. Bill didn't worry about it. Yeah, I'm I'm very well. I am not Debbie Downer today. You can't be. How could you be? If they were lost that game? I would have been W downer. I tell you what. Yeah, but, Bill, I think you'll agree with me. Um You know, we've been talking all year, and I was highly critical early and then came around and you know the mark of a good team. Uh, real good team. A team that wins championships is, uh, you win when you're not playing your best. And they did not play their best today, but they pulled together held off the Cubs. I don't agree with Dave. And he said the Cubs were tough today. They showed that they're not a good team. They should have picked off the Giants. They did not So unity is just like the Giants that opportunities they had on and one of the other things right, one of the other things. When you talk about teams you're supposed to beat and you know, I made a prediction Last Sunday, the Giants were going to win six straight games on this road trip, and there's some fans that hit me up. But one of the reasons is I looked at the how the Giants play with teams under 500. And with that wind today, there 55 19 with teams under 500. Think about that. Any team that's under 500. They've been wailing up, and that's a sign of games. You have to go in and play and you had to go into Chicago today to and that's where this road trip on the positive somehow, some way they had to win this game today, and they did now that flights coming home with some great confidence with these guys. Right, You know, Uh, exactly, Bill. You're spot on, uh, to go six and o on a road trip, uh, at any level of professional sports. Is is really an accomplishment. It just doesn't happen very often. Because you're playing whatever sport you're you're playing the best in your profession and to sweep Uh, is just hard to do, And they did the road at all three day games that that was tough and any 30.5 games. Five day games on this road trip, Greg Yep, and they also one of their sweeps. Was at Colorado or Yeah, you know, they're not, dear. Yeah, they played really well, there they really did. The Giants pulled a couple of them out. So I say kudos. Uh, you know, let's tighten up the defense we've been making, uh, communications defense mistakes in the outfield. This is not the first time Wrigley's a difficult place. High sky Windies. Uh, call just like Oracle is a tough place to play well, and you know what else is the throws from the infield? They've got to get cleaner. Some of those throws are off first base, and you know, when Bryant was playing third, he held the ball a couple times. Today. Do Bond had all the time in the world. He threw it off the back. They have to set themselves and make the play. Longoria has been playing great since he's been back. He threw a couple in the dirt, but with floors and belt there, they picked them up and floors came off the bag and tag the runner on the one place, so I'm right there with you tighten up his defense a little bit more and coming home to Oracle, get these fans out there to support them. And the more the merrier. And I keep telling Giants fan Hey, there's 19 games left in the season 19 and you've got a seven game home stand coming up. Okay, real quick, Bill. I know you've got callers, so I got one more things they and then I have a question that you can answer on the air. Here's the one thing I have to say is I told you I was coming down. Uh, Milwaukee. We had a great time. We were there for the The third game that night game, which was brewers much to write home about you like that. But the Thursday game was fun. But Thursday Day game is why you pay. So listen to me fans and San Francisco. This is why you pay to go see professional baseball that game. That big game on Thursday, which was one in the 8th and 9th innings 3 to 2 is it's why we go. It was close. It was it was tight. There were calls that were examined it third Twice. We were sitting on the third base line. Got to listen to Lorenzo Cain. Third. What a character. And, uh, you know anything? Yeah, well, you know, I'm going to steal home. And you know, the fans are saying yes. In a pig's eye. It was great. But anyway, fans come on. See this team, you've got a great ballpark. Uh, it just it was came from Portland. Greg. That's another Portland. Get off your tour on San Francisco fans get out there and tomorrow tomorrow $13 tickets. $13 you can find a ticket. So you know, come down. Come down again anyway, Here's my questions. Fire away! Great question on the air. I I'm not a professional. I've been a baseball fan most of my life. I never got past JV ball and I was a catcher. But I'm embarrassed to ask this question. Tony Watson, who I felt was a real good piece acquired. Um big into pitching, as you know, and defense. How come Watson today or another times. Why don't you pitch a reliever? Two innings, six out instead of three. Answer that for me, I know obvious, Craig. I've been talking about this all year. They need to push him, but they're not. That's not their plan. That's how I've always said the same thing with openers. They finally let Leon go under the second inning. They have to push him. But you know what? At the end of the game there so so solid with Watson Rogers Now you got devolved down there. Got Castro down there and you got McGee. So you got some power arms. But where are those young kids going to fit in? He is so so Stern with Rogers now, Watson and then McGee, and they kind of flip. You know, Watson and Rogers Rogers kind of getting that seventh inning now and Boy. He pulled it out today. But Greg Greg caller really appreciate your time today. All right. We got a winner. We have a winner for player of the game. This is great Hillary Hotel, So let's hear the play of the game, and then we'll get the caller on. So let's hear it. What was the play of the game today? Ralph? 32 Flores hits.

"But I will tell you this. If Greg Russo looks like he did in training camp and preseason, I don't want them rotated Greg Russo on the field as much as possible sale. I look at the other side Pittsburgh We were talking a little bit about the game plan. We saw Dallas run on Thursday night, where they decided to basically go after the only weakness. I think if you look at Tampa Bay's defense, then Sean Murphy bunting getting injured, they challenge their depth right away at corner. I said this, Jeremy. I know Joe Hayden. He is on the last 18 19 games of his career. There's not a ton left in the tank for Joe Haden. Who is behind him like they got rid of Steven Nelson. They got rid of their other Mike Hilton, like they don't have at least my knowledge, a group of corners that I believe can keep up with this group of bills receivers, especially if they're going to be rotating them in and out there going to be fresh throughout this game and the different packages that Brian Tables give me right if they get for receiver sets out there today. That. I mean, that is advantage bills all day. So would you like me to tell you who's listed on their depth chart behind us? This would be this would be an enlightening experience for me, and I think many listeners and viewers on stream yard Okay, so they have Justin Lane cornerback. Do you know much about Justin Lane? No, I know that that sounds like a name. That's real, all right, And they also have on the opposite side. James Pierre like these are the backups to starter Cameron Sutton and starter Joe Hayden. All right, um, in the secondary, look, make a Fitzpatrick is awesome. All pro natural Adams. Obviously we know who he is, but you know who's behind them at safety, A rookie a rookie named Let me get his first name here. Make sure Trey Norwood trainer was a rookie safety. So They? They have some questions some questions at depth in the secondary and I agree with you. I don't think Joe Haden is quite the level of player he was when he was going to Pro Bowls. He's is he lost that team. Supposing, number one is that well? Well, the heat Their defensive, according to Butler was asked about that this week and he said, I'm not going to tell you what we're going to do, but we will have a plan for Stefan Diggs. They better. I mean, not many teams didn't Yeah, no, That's the thing they did have plans first founded the next wouldn't work out. 80305 50. You can join us. You know, we talk about the Steelers Najee Harris. The Bills run game is Devin Singletary going to showcase? What's different about his body is what everyone has said is different about people. People have a lot to say about the changes he made. And he talked about, you know, in the off season having goals, the team asked him to do some things as trainer. They're watching this film all this like, will we see Singletary? Get off a little bit with that today. I like to point out Brian Devil's schemes up very favorable looks for Singletary and has his entire career so I know the looks Are there at the lion has to do its part, and then from there, it's on the backs. It's something that I think it's not a weakness of the team. It's a place they could Get a little bit more of an edge more from the backs. The Singletary lead the way with that this year. I think initially he does. You know last night we all do these these radio spots around the country. I'm on Sirius NFL radio late last night, And they specifically asked for a fantasy purpose. Question. The same question. Fantasy purposes, Devin Singletary see the guy. My answer to them was the same thing. I'm going to say everybody right now, which is I think Devin Singletary is the lead back. So to speak. Now, I think there's separation. I think Zack Moss lack of availability..

"Extra innings, sign a Saturday evening as the Giants fall to the LA Dodgers, 6 to 1 tonight. Three teams in major league baseball er 86 50. The San Francisco Giants, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Tampa Bay Rays. All three are tied at 86 50 with one more game left tomorrow. Each team, of course in the At L. Wes in each division plays 19 games against their opponent. The San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers are 99 going into tomorrow's game. Just a sloppy game today, It really started off in the first inning, Trey Turner hitting a home run off Jade Jackson straightaway center. And I really thought he got squeezed right off the bat with the first pitch of the game slide around the corner, and sure enough, that corner just never rang up for J. Jackson. He ended up walking two guys after that, and the inning was pretty much over, and the game was over after that, because the Giants only scored one run as the Dodgers opened up with three runs in the first inning. On two walks, and that's what kills you when you're playing opponents like the Dodgers or anybody in a major league baseball. If you start looking at top tier teams, you can't have walk so as a free passes, and it always seems That free passes end up scoring and that's what hurt the Giants tonight, especially in the first inning. The sixth inning was really strange, a ball that was hit to do Bonnie backhanded eight overthrew belt. On Justin Turner ended up going to second base on a on a error by Du Mont. After the infield hit a wild pitch on a cross up with Quinn, China and Posey and then the ball call into this day. I mean, at this time of the night, I have looked all over to see where this Bach was. And they said he started over his head, and then he came through it. I did not see it. I'm still going to keep looking at it as the as the night goes on. I have not seen a balk. Uh, call like that. And especially as a left handed pitcher, the third based empire, calling it You would think the first base umpire would call it or the home plate umpire, So that was kind of Goofy and ended up giving the Dodgers and added run. At that time. It was still a good ball game. The Giants Oh my goodness. First inning, third inning, fourth inning, fifth inning, sixth inning, seventh inning runners in scoring position each inning, and they just couldn't do anything. In two games in this two game series. The Giants have 26 runners left on base 26 runners on base. That's how many they've left on gnocchi hits. Timely Hitting. Just just hasn't happened in two nights. And so you're going in tomorrow. They know what they're going up against Walker Buehler, probably a Cy Young winner, possibly one of the best pitchers in the National League. He's dominant, They know that and they're going to go out and fight. There's no doubt about it. ESPN games can be nationally televised. Those are kind of games you look at and say OK, boys, let's go. Tighten up the spikes. Let's go and beat Walker Buehler tomorrow. It's a tough task, no doubt about it. He is dominant. There's no doubt about that, either. But these are the games you grind. These are the games when you put on those tight shoes and you know. Hey, I got to go out. And play good defense. I got to go out and get some timely hitting once in a while and these pictures have to go out and stop walking. Guys. This just drives me crazy. You're the big league level. Challenge him challenge him. And that's this didn't happen today. When you look at the Y 99 innings, six hits the Giants gave up. Six runs, four earned six walks, six walks, eight strikeouts, So it was a tough It was a tough night. But I tell you, the the star of the pictures for the Giants right now eight pitchers through J. Jackson gave up three earned runs. Harlan Garcia is just been pitching very well. Last night as well as today and then Alvarez came in. Alvarez threw five pitches. Four for strikes. You get a 123 inning. Zach Cattle gave another inning in a third. He gave up one hit unearned run. Jose Quintana came in two thirds of an inning. John Bravia came in and had a clean inning, one hit. Caleb arrogant, had one inning clean inning and the last one Sammy long. I just didn't understand why they brought him in. If we don't know who's starting tomorrow, That's what I figured Sammy Long might have been held out to who's pitching tomorrow? We don't know there has not been Talked about and Gabe Kapler has not announced it. As of yet, Uh, Sammy Long just struggled. He couldn't get the curveball over. Couldn't get the change up over, walked a couple of guys and ended up giving up two runs and An earned run, but in that same course. Longoria made a made an error on him, and it looked like a double play. Ball just didn't look the ball into the glove, came off the pinky of the glove and rolled out to left field. Same thing earlier in the game. When I talked about the Bach in the sixth inning, when do bond came up, throwing throwing, He threw it. He threw like the balance your throwback, and when they when Bellenger was at first base and through to third when Posey walked in the last time the Dodgers were here, Those balls were just belt and even belt more or less has looked over. Signal. Where Where is it going? But you know what do bands played shortstop at Sacramento, but he tried to make that big play. He tried to make that that play of the day, and it ended up costing him and Aaron and ended up costing the the Giants another run. So Uh, an unearned run. But at the same time, it added fuel to the fire. The Giants is never couldn't get anything going Arrest was not that good today. Sure, Sure. I see eight strikeouts, No walks, but they got to them. They got to him in every inning dead runners on second, or 1st and 2nd. They had runners at 2nd and 3rd in the first inning after they got a hit or score running, so he was in trouble. Sure, he got out of it had a nice curve ball today. They got a lot of people chasing on that. Like I said, eight strikeouts. His vast ball was 95 the elevated it a lot when he got two strikes. And he got him chasing for it. But I didn't think he was a sharp the last couple of times we saw him. Aureus was sharp today. I don't think he really had a sharp game. They had opportunities. They just didn't strike..

Indianapolis Colts' T.Y. Hilton to Miss Start of Season
"T Y. Hilton expected to miss the start of the regular season after re aggravating a neck injury. At practice last week earlier on ESPN radio are Courtney Cronin in Shape Peppler. The Colts need to let go stage their locker room like they need to take a page out of the Baltimore Orioles and what they did there in breaking a 19 game losing streak because it just feels like injury after injury for them Now, next on the list is T Y Hilton, who's got a back problem. They don't know the diagnosis with That, But I know Courtney, you've got some more insight as to what the deal is with T Y Hilton in Indianapolis. Yeah, Apparently he was injured in practice on Wednesday. This didn't come from the preseason game that they just played on Friday. That happened early, and then he came back out and he was able to finish practice. But now we find out Shea that he has a back and a neck injury and he's out indefinitely and that comes on the heels. And, like 24 hours, they find out that and then Sam Ehlinger, the backup quarterback as a knee injuries out for 4 to 6 weeks. I think that this Indianapolis team for all the steps forward that they were able to take in the last few weeks, getting Carson Wentz back at practice, the good at least, you know, positive news that they got with Quentin Nelson, who had the same foot injury that Carson once has. That it's not going to be the end of his season, either, And then they're dealt this blow the big one here, though, as I look at all of these injuries and trying to figure out which is the worst one is probably Ehlinger because you don't know when Carson once is really going to be ready to play. Is it going to be weak? One? They haven't put that timetable on him. Yet. That is still two weeks away. Your backup quarterback right now is Jacob Eason like it was supposed to be Ehlinger. But now he's out 4 to 6 weeks. That's something that I don't think is a should give them any confidence. That's a Big below Hilton, Like many

"The home of the Reds. We're well aware by now of the losing streaks at the Reds have been involved. In this season. I was reading a very interesting piece on the Internet about the longest losing streaks for each club in the history of baseball, right. The Amazing thing is the 1945 Reds lost 19 games in a row. It's hard to catch the club record. My question to you. Is as a former player. Once a team is involved in a fairly lengthy losing street, and I don't consider three games or four games or five games I'm talking about when it reaches the seven. Or more losses in a row and extends beyond that. How do players deal with that? Are there ways that players deal with a losing streak after saying all the politically correct things I have faith in this club? I love these guys. They're going to be out of it soon. How do you deal with losing streaks? A part of the game? I think you would agree. I mean, nineteen's a lot of ball games, but you got to stir things up. If you're on a losing streak, I've seen it with managers. Many times they'll go out and get thrown out of the game. First inning. Uh, maybe a start An altercation. You know how I believe in fighting. I know you do solved a lot of my problems in my life. Yes. Or you go out with the guys and get yourself a slump, Buster. So why do you, Marty? Alright. Game seven tonight in Tampa. Tampa Bay Lightning against the New York Islanders. The winner goes and faces the Montreal Canadians for the Stanley Cup final. Butch Goring. He joins us. He played four Islanders Stanley Cup teams 16 years total in the NHL. He's currently the Islanders announcer Butch Thanks so much for joining us tonight, Boy. What? What a run here for the Islanders. You've played again. You won four Stanley Cup for the Islanders. You know how magical the Coliseum can be when those fans get kind of all riled up. And how about the last two nights at the Coliseum? Just something special. It really was and not totally unexpected. The Islander fans have been a passionate group of people for an awful long time and I think everybody that's ever played in the Coliseum with with all the fans, there are no just how how big an advantage it can be a There's times when you're not going well and they'll pick you up. They won't let you die. Uh, you know, association, so it's been It's been greatest been, uh, a lot of fun not only for in my day, but certainly for the guys now and then what a way to you know. Maybe include the history of the Coliseum. Obviously, everybody is very, very optimistic going win tonight, but If it doesn't happen by the Coliseum got a great standoff Well, and there is a special component this year around since last year, we didn't have those cheering crowds to pick people back up on the ice. What are you looking for? Tonight, especially as we head toward the first post pandemic. Hopefully, Stanley Cup. Well, a lot of energy from from the Islanders, and obviously there'll be a lots of excitement from the lightning signs. They'll be trying to blow the roof off. But You know for the Islanders, They haven't been able to take a lead after one period. You know, an NHL record. I believe it's like 19 games now, and that's crazy. So I'm hoping that the hockey guys are going to be smiling on him and that they can get out of that first period with the lead. That would be awesome. Alright, Butch. A key for tonight is lightning superstar in Kita Ku trove. Will he play or not? He was injured on a cross check by Islanders Defenseman Scott may feel a couple of questions for you. Butch. Number one Do you expect in the play and number two? Was it a dirty hit? I think that, uh, you know, if he can play, he'll definitely play. I mean, he's got plenty of time to heal and arrest and, uh, you know, if he can deal with the with the issue, then he'll definitely plays a big, big part of Of the certainly the the big number one line with point and Polyta. He's a huge factor on the power play, so if he can play, he's definitely going to play. And was it a dirty hit? No, it was not. I mean, everybody's talked about it. I mean, there are 100 Plus hits like that. I mean, unfortunately, the NHL has allowed cost checking that come into the game. It's like think saying, it's you know, it's becoming lacrosse game Now, with all the cross checking that goes on. And Scott Mayfield just happened to get him at the only probably vulnerable spot and he was turned the right way. If, in fact that was Part to hit him. I mean, people, I think, forget that. The truck continued to play, and then he ran at bars. L and then it was only after that that he started feeling whatever problems he has. So you know, Um, was it the cross? Checked, Maybe. Or was that he got awkwardly into the boards with bars. L I mean, I don't know, but Um From my point of view. It was just one of 100 cross checks that are thrown during the game. And it was. It wasn't militias and Both teams do it the whole playoffs. Everybody's done it. So for me, it's just, you know, a part of the game. Butch. It's interesting. There's so much talent on this Tampa Bay team and when they get on the power play there, just unstoppable. What do you What are you really looking for? Us? The keys tonight here for the Islanders. Well, number one. Don't take any penalties. That would be really prudent, Uh, Islanders part. Uh, but they've done a pretty good job with it. Really? They've They've made adjustments and they forced the Tampa Bay Lightning to do things that they don't normally want to do. I mean, The power play does run through Kucherov and one. That's why it's really important. If he plays for the Lightning tonight. It would certainly add on their probability of winning the hockey game, but, uh they've done a great job with it, and they put good pressure on him and Bush and use good up. Up ice pressure at different times. But you know, as I said before, I mean, the islands have to play their game. They've got to get into their game early and not not think themselves. The whole thing If they can have a good like I said, a good first five minutes or so then they're going to be in the fight. And then who knows? But one thing that you have done for the sport of hockey has been an incredible stalwart and hero of it. Your jersey being retired by the Islanders, playing two on four Islanders Stanley Cup teams. I mean, you are an embodiment of the sport going forward, especially as it tries to recover from low viewership during the pandemic and tries to get crowds back in at a time when people are skeptical of one another and still wearing masks. What do you hope to see in terms of either streaming licenses in terms of the way that stadia are set up? What can this sport due to gain popularity? Well, I think you know, the more exposure. You know they the club has. There's no doubt about it. I mean, they've taken a lot of steps and you know With the diversity and certainly with black lives matter. I'm they've taken some tremendous steps because that's a part of the NHL hockey as it is in all walks of life. And Gary Bettman has done a tremendous job exposing the NHL not only in North America but all over the world. I mean, hockey is and you know, in Russia, Japan now and obviously, in all parts of Europe, So I mean, it's uh, it's f a very proactive organization and very much aware of People's needs and the arena's now or they're much, much more, I guess. Proactive when you talk about facilities and making the game little bit more entertaining and So I think every every day everybody is trying to think of, you know what can we do more to promote our sport? Because it is It is such a great sport and when when people see it, and they don't understand it, and then they try to educate them up every walk of life. Um, you know, they become more and more interested. It's so fast changes quickly. And if you blink, you might miss the goal. Hey, Butch. Real quick..

"Don't settle for less than a Honda 7 45 is time for Dave Johnson well, disappointed as to give away the decisions for the Washington Capitals. It really feels like the offseason nowadays removed for that first round series lost the Bruins. There is no next game to get ready for the next season it Goldie Take Vantage Tech. Remember he started 37 games this past season. Elliott Samsonov 19 games of the regular season. For the NBC sports Washing Greg Laughlin. Gonna be Vanik Jacker Sam sewn up. I thought Sam Sona really, really played well in the playoffs and other than one little gas. He really gave them the goaltending they needed. They just didn't have the firepower to compete. But it seems like they have the gold setting. Now, on the blue line this past season, capitals had 44 year olds oday know, Charlie, You gotta look at Ciara. Is he going to return to the National Hockey League? I'm not so sure he is. So that spot in the lineup is gonna have to be fit by somebody like Trevor Van Riemsdyk and any of the other guys they have in the wings waiting to get that spot. And into the offseason. Greg Laughlin has his beers to work on, including one named the Hattie Hattie because I never had a hat trick when I played with you. That's one way to get one in double overtime. Islanders beat the Bedouins treated to the Twins rallied with six runs the eighth inning, 43. Whatever the Orioles tonight, the national started serious with the Reds, and I bet you didn't know we're in Phase three. I'm talking about organized team activities in the NFL for washing football team. Phase three allows in person meetings, classroom instruction and noncontact drills. Sounds like Phase three around here. Dave Johnson. Futile be sports. Thanks, Dave. Up ahead here and w t o P. Ah, police involved shooting in Congress Heights near the Congress Heights Metro Station will tell you what that's all about. 7 47 It's.

"Impact of a guy like Tom Thibodeau in New York. And I'd argue the second guy are another guy who's had the most impact in his first year in a team and I'm not gonna count James Harden. The other blade a long time. But besides, Thibodeau is a coach. I think Chris Paul's means extra greatest impact. You can make us a player and I mean nobody's talking about Chris Paul, which is ridiculous because they might win the West. And you know, I get back to your cage. I'm not sure why there's you know feelings that he shouldn't be When it I think what helped him what should help him in, and I said this at the time when Jamal Murray went down to that injury I'm sitting there saying all right, if anybody else doubts about yoke its yet see what Yokich does now, between the time that that your mom Marie has been lost to Denver, their second best player and where he can take this team. Have a chance to finish third. I think they're 10 and three without Jamal Murray. That should be the capper for yoga. The Robin that should be the end of the argument that he has made players better. Despite the fact that they have lost your mom or I haven't gone backwards. They have actually gotten better with a chance to get third. But overall, you know, Yokich has been, you know he's 1/4 place finish. I think a couple years ago in the M V P. I just don't think people No, we We always look at the honest Sis and the LeBron's obviously as the guys but no and Yokich plays every game. I mean, this is a season where people are talking about. Oh, my God, the MBA. It's been a ridiculous schedule on it has been a very tough schedule for players. And up Until a few weeks ago, he kept on hearing about Jo Ellan beats name They were rewarding him people for despite the fact he's missed 19 games, you're going to reward somebody this year, the league's biggest honor, the M V. P. How about how about giving a few extra points to a guy's played in every game like he has Chris Paul, by the way, who played point guard has at his age is only missed one. Me. Those guys were one too. Yeah, Look, I mean, I think the honest also has had a great year. He's not gonna get it three years in a row, but clearly it's going to be Yokich at this point in the season, so it's a gears a little bit. I had mentioned James Harden before and Mitch when the James Harden trade went down for Brooklyn. At that moment, it felt more like a luxury than a necessity. But it's clearly been More of the latter. And you look at it the Nets or 27 7 with James Harden their under 500 without him there even under 500 games where Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving have played together, I think in some ways, you know hard may have saved this whole Durant Kyrie era. He may have saved those guys from a lot of criticism as well. How much do you read into what we've seen from Brooklyn? As of late and how much of that is just sort of like you can't say too much about it. Because you know that that Hardin is on the way back. Well hardens on the way back. We'll see what happens with him. Everything you've said about him in terms of the impact is true. I always felt even when they made the trade, even when he pulled in Houston. I felt the version they're going to get him. It's like, why do you need Kyrie? Irving Now you still want to have Kyrie Irving, but I've always felt that Hardin is a better player. He sets up people better, and I think that's one of the things that you're referring to. When you talk about their record is The floor is space better. He just is a better natural playmaker carries a wonderful score, and we all know he's tremendous ist as a finisher became part of the better player. I mean, James Harness an M V P Type of player and I used to think that the key for the Nets in terms of long run would be the health of Kevin Durant. I've kind of changed my mind. I mean, Kevin Durant still is the best player there when everybody is healthy. Boy, They better have James Harden because I just don't know if hardness compromised If he's diminished, Robin, what kind of run them that the Nets can make, especially because we all know it's it's all about their offense. They're not going to stop a lot of people in the playoffs. They're not built that way. They've gotten a little bit better, but really their thing is going to be there. Going to outscore people and heart is gonna have a lot to do with it. So I'm very like everybody else. I'm very interested to see how the what happens when he gets back. The other thing I'll mention to is And this will not be a small detail. Steve Nash is a rookie coach in his first playoff run. We're gonna see what kind of adjustments he makes. We're gonna see what happens on an 18 No. One running a playoff game if the Nets are unfortunate to be on the wrong end of that, if he calls time out If he ends up costing them a game. We'll see. We've never been in that pressure situation, So it's it's all in front of Brooklyn. But who knows? At this point what they're going to be able to do. It'll be interesting to see They've been the best story maybe to follow all season. Mitch Appreciate your time this morning. Have a great rest your weekend. You too, Robin. Appreciate it. Thanks. Mitch, Laurence, Sirius, XM MBA and Mad Dog. Radio. You know, I understand where he says Kevin Durant, still the best player on this. I actually think it's it's James Harden. I've been I've been swayed this year by hardens play and in his impact, But you know when you're talking about guys better are that good? It's always hard to make a pick or a decisive decision. Just like if you were trying to determine whether something is a rat, or it is a raccoon. It's very tough. Very tough, just like that's why Francisco Lynn Door of the New York Mets and his teammate McNeil got into it in the tunnel, apparently and Linda or says it was because they could not determine the identity of a creature that they said Hey, I've never seen a new your ass, so we went down sprinting. I want to go see the New York rat and he got mad at me. He's like, No, It's not a rat. Is that raccoon? I'm like Hell, no man, is that them? Rap is a New York rap man. I was just crazy because we were going back and forth debate if he was around a raccoon. On and it gets worse and it gets worse and he just doubled and tripled. Let me play you this next one. Why did all the other players rushed to see what was happening in the tunnel of the rat man? They couldn't believe. We're going.

"I mean, just like 19 games. He's got seven home runs in 2019. He hit seven home runs all year, He posted his lowest average is lowest on base. He was striking out more than he ever has. You struck out four times in the game in 2019 Never done that before, And that was a big piece. I think writer in August. In fact, I talked him, of course Field. Before a game and said, Look, you know, um, this hip surgery is not necessarily been a fountain of youth for for you has it, He said. No it and there wasn't supposed to be. It was supposed to allow me to not think about it as much and be on the field, stay on the field and compete. He did that in 2019. But who thought that he could put together a month or even a span in 19 games like he has where your O P s leaders for everybody who's got you know 60 or 30 at bats in the big leagues. You've got Mike Trout. You got a buyer in boxing has been a sensation this year. Your pasta Posey. They got Ronald. Couldn't you Junior who was having a great year and poses? Oh, PS in him right now. I mean anyone who saw that coming Um, you know, had a lot of faith and Buster Posey's ability, um and probably wasn't paying attention to. You know a lot of the evidence from from 2016 on and it's been It just reminds you this guy is an elite talent when it comes to hand eye coordination, and when his body allows him to do things, you still pretty darn good hitter. And I mean this. This is pretty darn important. If Buster Posey can have That kind of resurgent season. It's going to affect his ability to be a giant long term. It's going to affect whether he can be a slam dunk Hall of Famer instead of a guy who's gonna have to languish on the ballot a little bit or maybe not get in. Let's not forget a guy like horny. Posada was one and done. He never even got 5%. So you know if Buster, I think needs a few good offensive seasons to be a Hall of Famer, and so there's a lot of steak here for his legacy. I think even though it's obviously going to be, you know, stainless and he'll be revered for life for what he's done is a giant butt. You still got a lot more you can accomplish and I know he's not thinking about it this way. But right now he's showing that Hey, I can still be an elite player in this league and it's been. It's been pretty eye opening to watch really good something with Cooperstown one. I know we're sort of at the time, but we can do this later. It is Yadi Molina ahead of him in the horse race between the two best catchers is No. No question. No question. I think he's ahead of him because he's got When we're compiling numbers, he's got way more gold gloves. I think he's a think Yadi is is for me a slam dunk, first ballot Hall of Famer and Buster's pretty borderline right now, To be honest, Yeah, interesting stuff. Hey, Paperwork question, not paperwork. Actually, it's more than paperwork's. That's wrong Phrase. Just transaction questions less Stella. Going for 4 to 6 Weeks is a big deal. That's tough. So Vossler Jason Vossler, come on down, but What would you anticipate knowing 400 Scott Harris and means Vossler is going to get like a couple of days to show and then they keep looking. Or is it just Hey, Vossler, You're the guy. No, I think they'll write it out. I mean, they have You know the kid he got from the Yankees as well that they they like, and he said he's a triple A. I don't know if they're gonna make a sort of a move to acquire someone. You know, like another Mike. Talk when you can play the infield right now, that may have been Just an opportunistic acquisition right there. I think they just have to write it out. Hopefully get Donovan Solano back sometime soon. Might Jastremski they hope to have back on Friday he'll We'll have to lengthen that line about a little bit, but you know, they've got options. They've got people that can use to cover the infield but makes it even more important than Evan Longoria stays healthy that Brandon Crawford stays healthy and that they don't you know, over exposed some of those guys while trying to fill the gaps, and, Yeah, it's a bummer of an injury because, you know, just like, um, some of these other guys just like you. Yes, we're starting to come around, and then he got hurt. Look, Stella was really starting to come around, and then he got hurt. So the Giants are Our little secret, but you look up and they've got the best record in the National League. And and so you know whether it's the pitching just stand is dialed in if they have been or other guys stepping up when Alex Dickerson catching fire it, hopefully a shoulders not too bad or Brandon Belt catching fire like you did yesterday. Just gonna have to find ways to pick up slack perfectly stated. Andy Day ball. Get your pencil ready. You gotta game coming, so enjoy. It will keep parading in. Thanks for coming on. Okay. Enjoy that. Some day. Baseball guys. Yeah, there it is. 12 10 Polly Logan Web. Yes, I know. We got very little time. But quickly. When you watch Buster Posey, Do you feel like you're watching a Hall of Famer kind of I do to do, especially this year and how he's doing it again. On candy are one of 45 and 6 80 sports.
