Larry Nassar, if you don't know who Larry Nassar is, Um, this is the guy who Sexually molested, assaulted, raped. Young women. Girls, teenagers, chimneys, people, parents that put their trust. And I know a lot of those parents are feeling guilty. They shouldn't They did nothing wrong, but I understand why they do feel guilt. So a lot of Larry Nassar's Victims have been. They spoke in court yesterday. They spoken from Congress. Why we'll we'll get to that. But it has something to with the FBI completely effing things up. Let me just give you a little timeline on Larry Nassar. And how all this took place back in July. 2000 and 15. Uh, the USOC became aware of allegations as the FBI began its investigation into Nasser. Keep in mind. This is back in 2015, September 2000 and 16 Nasser first publicly accused of abuse. He's fired from Michigan State. Why it took that long. I have no idea. December. 2000 and 17 asters sentenced to 60 years in federal prison for child pornography and back in February of 2000 and 18. This is when all the All the victims were speaking in court, and it was very emotional testimony he plugged guilty to 10 counts of first degree criminal sexual Conduct That should have been probably 1000 counts, but he pled guilty to 10 counts. Uh And they added another 175 years to his sentence. By the way, I don't understand our justice system. I just want to be very clear on this. You kill somebody in some cases, you know you get a life sentence. You killed two people. You get two life sentences. What the hell is the difference? You can give somebody 100 life sentence is all that matters is one life sentence without the possibility of parole so stupid. Our justice system is I don't understand it. If it's more than one life sentence, then kill the bastard. And I know there's some people out there that are not for the death penalty. That's fine. That's a fair debate. I am one of those people that has always been for the death penalty. Larry Nassar should not be alive. Okay. Now, if you had my opinion, all the girls that he assaulted they should they should. Beat him to death. Now I know that's not realistic, but I'm just I'm acting a little bit on emotion. Larry Nassar should not be alive. Okay, You should electrocute him by the testicles. As far as I'm concerned, Boy, That's a I know JD probably wants that to happen to me from time to time. No, but in all seriousness, this isn't a joking matter. But anyway, the reason why we're talking about Larry Nassar and I'm going to let the CBS report which I think is a very good one explain so a lot of these women now young women who were very young teenagers who were molested, some of them spoke Uh, in front of Congress yesterday. Why? Well, because the F B I screwed up big time. In fact, at least one FBI agent that we know of was fired. What hasn't the FBI screwed up in the last five years? I actually last 10 years. You have Epstein. You have this Nasser situation You have Gretchen. Gretchen Whitmer risk supposed kidnapping. You have them being involved in the January 6th. You have them holding onto Hunter Biden's laptop for X amount of time You have the steel dog. I mean, there's there's six or seven things that the FBI has done a god awful job on in the last decade, and there have been a lot of conversations on the show in the past where you said, Well, you don't trust our FBI. Absolutely not an interest. Our FBI and situations like this are why probably a majority of the country right now. Doesn't trust the federal Bureau of Investigation and that's a serious problem, Brian, but let's continue. Okay, So I'm talking about the subject that I hope that we would all agree on which is sexual assault and rape. But leave it to Jay absolutely agree on, leave it to J. D to make a correlation and mentioned Hunter Biden's laptop again the fundamental difference there. But JD is entitled to his opinions. But when I did this today, I didn't really want to talk about Hunter Biden's laptop or some political narrative that fits the political narrative also for the record Talking about the FBI's incompetence. Also, hunter Biden's laptop is part of that competence. You can just let me finish. Okay, because the FBI has never screwed up when it comes to, you know, not prosecuting a Republican. I just want to be very clear on that all the people in the FBI, they're all Democrats. They only support Democrats. It's just ridiculous. And by the way when I also say and talk about how I trust the FBI. Just like I trust police officers, J d you see? The majority of police officers are good people. They're heroes I'd like to thank the majority of FBI agents are good people. But you won't hear that from J. D. It's like Hunter Biden's laptop anyway. This is a story about Larry Nassar. It's not about Joe Biden. It's not about the January 6th insurrection. We're going to talk a little bit more about that tomorrow about this event they have planned for Saturday. These right wing extreme groups, but we're talking about Larry Nassar. Right now. We're talking about sexual assault. I'm talking about this specific case so Do you do you? Do you know what the FBI did in this case? Because I wanted to play this piece. You know what happened? It sounds like what What took place is they had information and they chose not to act on it. And it allowed Larry Nassar to continue to sexually abused these innocent young woman. Okay, so that's not Kind of that's that's That's not really what took place here. What took place here was that there were several FBI agents that lied on reports and interviews that took place. This wasn't from the top down as some people might say. There were a few FBI agents that did not handle this investigation properly. And you know what the FBI did and we're going to talk about this afterwards. The FBI has acted on that and we know of at least one person that has been fired and in fact, the head of the FBI spoke to this. And they're trying to make sure this doesn't happen again. But anyway, I want you to hear the story from CBS to kind of give everybody a little bit of background being here today is taking Everything. I have tearfully opening up on Capitol Hill about the abuse they faced by former team doctor Larry Nassar. To be clear. I blame Larry Nassar..

In the Olympics as well as during other competitions is spending a bunch of time in prison 175 years for sex assault charges, along with a 60 year sentence for child porn. But yesterday, Simone Biles broke down in tears while she was testifying in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Listen, I don't want another young gymnast Olympic athlete. Or any individual to experience the horror that I and hundreds of others have endured before, during and continuing to this day. In the week. Of the Larry Nassar abuse. To be clear. Oh, sorry. Take your time. To be clear. I blame Larry Nassar. And I also blame An entire system. That enabled and Perpetrated his abuse. Man. You can just hear and feel that emotion from her and joining us Now, Roy O Neill, our correspondent on what she is talking about as far as the entire system and the FBI, basically turning their back on it. Up. You know, At least that's the feeling from these girls. Good morning, Roy. Hey, Good morning, JT. Right. So these women came forward back in 2015 and made those disturbing allegations against Dr Nassar. But the FBI did nothing about it for more than a year, And in that time, Nasser allegedly victimized more than 120 more young girls and women. And they say, Look, the way the FBI mishandled this case or didn't even bother to handle the case. The former agents should face criminal prosecution. So where is it going to go from here? Some of these people have left the job since then, Uh, some of these people that were involved in this and wanted to be questioned by this committee didn't show up yesterday. So what's next? Right. So the women want justice through also the USA Gymnastics Organization and the Olympic Committee. They say they knew about the doctors behavior and did nothing and, as is, as I said, they want criminal prosecution of these two agents. One retired, The other one was fired just a little more than a week ago. And that's still possible but unlikely. The Justice Department has looked at this twice under Presidents Bush Rather, Presidents Trump and Biden and decided both times not to file criminal complaints, but that's still could happened. The attorney general has just said he will be appearing before this committee in the Senate answer questions about their role in this next month. "They didn't fit in. So the baby boom generation saw that and fundamentally changed it. Civil rights, feminism, LGBT Q and disability rights. No Panelists felt guilty about this history. I am very proud. Yeah, you know demonstrations on campus peaceful demonstrations. I was there every day at lunch time. We may not have brought it to complete fruition, but we started a lot of it. I as a baby boomer, I'm going to take some credit for that, as I take some blame for the other stuff as well. But what about the existential threat that millennials will face after we're long gone? Global warming under baby boomers watch. Did this happen? Sure, but this is something that's been going on for 175 years since the dawn of the industrial era, and we are really fully realizing the consequences of all of that now, so to say that one generation is responsible for that. That's a historical and please don't forget, says Stein Horn. It was the baby boom generation that basically motivated Earth Day and jump started the environmental movement. So then how valid is it to generalize about one generation at all? You have to look at history as a far more complex phenomenon, then the sort of generational divide that is really artificial is framing right now. So why are we pitting a generation against each other, when in fact all they're basically doing is pointing a finger at baby boomers? For a few bad mistakes that took place during those years, not recognizing how society is transformed since the 19 fifties and fundamental deep, institutional personal interpersonal ways. Spurt four, agreed. You can't blame one generation because one generation never has power. At least not for much time. Alison Adderly. I agree. You cannot group any. Um, you know, whole group of people together and say that they all think alike. But as a member of the generation that popularized the phrase don't trust anyone over 30. There is one part of the millennial critique. That's tinhorn applauds, Think OK, Boomer is a great phrase. I think every younger generations should stick their thumb in the eye of their elders and poke them and prod them and basically say OK, You know, you know, keep stop giving us your wisdom and stop telling us what to do. The shocking discoveries of several 100 unmarked graves at former boarding schools for indigenous Children in western Canada has focused attention on a dark chapter of that nation's history. As John Yang reports it is a story of forced assimilation and physical, emotional and sexual abuse. Judy for more than a century. The Children of Canadian native communities, including what's known as the first nations, were taken from their families and sent to Christian boarding schools run for the government about 70% of them run by the Catholic Church and estimated 150,000 Children passed through these schools. Before they were closed. In 1996 there were banned from speaking their languages or practising their traditions. Children died and their families were never told their bodies never returned. After the discovery of these graves over the last six weeks, indigenous leaders have demanded an investigation into what they call a crime against humanity. Heather Bear is vice chief of the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous First Nations, which represents 74 1st nations in Saskatchewan. She joins us from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan Vice chief Bear. Thanks so much for being with us. I understand you went to one of these schools. What can you tell us about your experience and what it was like this has shaken shaken our country not only first nations, but many non First nations government leaders of Professionals. And I think just every, um every corner of our country has now been impacted with this new awareness. That is not you. This has always been these stories have all been told what's coming out with this is the real story. Uh and we need to change that legacy because it's a very dark legacy. A dark history of first nations when we talk about the abuse and the horrendous crimes against Children at the time that I went was after 1972, The Chiefs task force. In Saskatchewan Indian control of Indian education That was something that happened so the transition was was happening where First nations were starting to operate. These schools and the churches were transitioning out, however. There still was that that lonely heavy feeling that? Uh um you you can't really explain it. You have to be there, but Also tighter. That was the oral tradition. The stories, the whispers the, uh what the students and teachers would talk about in terms of What had happened at those schools and the hauntings. It was a very haunting experience, especially when you look outside your window and there's a cemetery. Uh and I'm naming Merivel school and I remember the swing set in the playground. Just just a few steps away. You're looking at a cemetery. So I asked the question. How many schools do you see with cemeteries in their yards? And should have been playgrounds. What does this do You talk about sort of the the legacy of this and the and I imagine with these new discoveries in these past several weeks, it's sort of re traumatizing. What's the sort of the impact on generations and generations of Of of indigenous people in Canada. You know, I could probably sit here for 100 years and not be able to to explain or, uh, talk about the impacts because they're so huge and they're at different levels. You have your survivors who are directly impacted that still live today, whether it be sexual abuse, physical, mental, spiritual. Language abuse, not being able to speak your mother tongue not being able to pray not being and to be told. Um, uh you know, you're not human, urine human If you didn't take on this Christianity and like I say Uh, you know, the Uh, What's going on right now. I think, um When you look at the impacts their, uh there's direct impacts that are and there's impacts that are intergenerational and like today, you still have addictions. You still have You know, uh, family violence. You still have poverty. 70% of these schools were run or started by the Catholic Church. The Vatican has announced that they're going to have three Of the biggest indigenous groups coming to the Vatican going to the Vatican the end of the year to meet with the pope. Is that enough? This sort of meeting and what do you want to come out of that meeting? Well, uh, contrary to what the pope says he believes that there there That's not their role to give an apology according to their structure, But I believe As a leader as leaders. We I think we have to take responsibility and accountability. And when we talk about healing, you know doesn't the good book talk about forgiveness? And, uh, you know, in terms of our healing, we need to forgive, but we need that church to apologize. And admit the harms that they had done so that we as indigenous people as survivors of residential school, you know, at least turned to you and have that Mhm opportunity to forgive and get on on that long, hard journey of healing and surviving. I mean, there's great accountability. Their great leader. These were men of the cloth that abused our Children. There are many of the cloth that were perpetrators who perpetrated the most horrendous crimes against Children. I mean, I think the church owes the indigenous peoples of this country I know for I'm certain you know, uh, with all the transgressions, they always something back in the name of healing.
