Know you guys have seen me go from being active duty military to retiring to you know several transitions and And here we are well Last week was one of those weeks where things could have really went sideways in a big sort away so about three four five months ago. "I've done everything on the board including being on the union working at every busy fire station help staffer the department created a women's empowerment camp And we went to work every day during COVID We got sick before we knew how to protect ourselves My husband's a firefighter People are home to our children often And it's going to be better We went back to work We never asked the question And now Todd Gloria is saying that if we don't get this shot by December 2nd he's going to fire us We have a massive shortage going on We can't even stop the department as it is We have over 300 police officers that are willing to walk Is this really about safety at this point Because not having fire engine and police officers is more like a safety issue than having people that have natural immunity serving the public when we have all the protected here we need already This is absolutely appalling You have natural immunity your husband is natural immunity I bet most of the people there who got sick at the height of this virus have natural immunity And it's as if they're not following the science It's as if they're defunding the police as well as emergency personnel And this is a way to do it I mean it's really shocking The murder rates through the roof through the roof And this is still how they behave You know some days it's hard to wrap your head around this But what are you going to do So we have a small group of us that are willing to fight back We're going to hold the line I have actually already planned to move to Arizona unfortunately My husband This is going to consume me I'm getting fired So I'm taking my children Arizona where hopefully we can sell our House in San Diego make a couple bucks and then figure out a new thing I don't know anything else 17 years with a fire department

"And you know what makes me most sad and angry I have a lot of pride Well first of all for America as well as the Marine Corps I've supported them for 17 years These generals have cost so much credibility to the Marine Corps based on their actions not only on the bots capability But how they have treated lieutenant colonel scheller I mean there is no reason that he should be in the break There's no reason they're cutting off his phone calls There's no reason for any of that The ways to address this if that's what they want to do without doing this sort of thing It is rather extraordinary I've never heard of anything like this And he was just thrown in and claiming that he has to be in isolation because of COVID So he's in solitary I think so yes How would I know I'm not allowed in there I'm not allowed to speak to him And that kind of says doesn't it It says are they They tell me he couldn't have a phone call or a visit He could possibly in two weeks but then they have limited ability for visitation because of COVID So you know What state he's in North Carolina Is your North Carolina In the bridge Camp was in North Carolina So this is how we treat our 17 year warriors that fought for our freedom phosphor our sons and daughters we throw him in jail because he spoke truth to

"I would say that i was always like that mama or mothering. Type of person to like my friends and my loved ones meaning. I hate the idea of like my peeps being in pain or hurting in some way and so of course when it comes to like in being in a relationship i really do believe it's important if you can care for your partner and take care of them kind of like what you were talking about earlier and he'll each other really like you care for them they care for you you just. He'll each other and there's a lot of takers in this world. One innately nice if your partner could actually be a giver for you and you can check them out that in any context of the word a lot of context. Yes oh yeah. 'cause somebody can give you the smaller bowling. They could give you the business they can do business bowling bowl. I mean i guess it'd be right business on the ball you can because you should be giving i ball you see. Give give the good sized ball to your. Yes told you. I knew bowling. Go i love talking about bullying a lot of things. Yeah so this is interesting. Gets your use going. Yes holy get your. that's good. that's good. I mean you got to be passionate about things are grew yes definitely less than sixteen. Leave jealously to the win. Okay convince this support what. I don't know if everyone's learned one. I'm just going to say. I'm just going to tell you. I don't know if everybody's learning this. Why try to say they'll get so obsessed about other people in your partner's life. They're going to step out on the relationship. You're jealousies not gonna stop beyond. That's not gonna stop doing their thing. It also makes the relationship that much tougher because your partner will feel they can meet new people and they got to like. Be careful about the approach. You what i have fred's can't have that super jealousy. That's crazy kansas. Yeah i couldn't agree more at the end of the day instead of focusing on if your partner rope she. Why don't you focus on finding ways that makes your partner never want to cheat right so being intimate and doing like you said giving them the gifts they want being there. Due following these seventeen lessons will keep them on the right bath now with a banner. Let's end it off with less than seventeen. No your partners love language so each of us has different motivations for like what we like in want in a relationship. And if you aren't aware of what your partner likes kinda like would you discussed before. You can't really actually satisfy them. Which michael into then stepping out or you know kind of dabbling and things that they shouldn't be dabbling so as they evolve in life. Remember our wants and motivations also chain so it's really important to get to embrace that change and get to know your partner through all the changes because they are going to be that beautiful butterfly cocoon butterfly cocooning throughout your entire life. So be there along the way especially when it comes to their love language too so that in case anything changes maybe they like something now five years from now they don't like it. You're right along there to support them and it's going to cost your headaches in the long run. This is an important one definitely. There's almost like the heart of the relationship. "Six this is makes it easier to bond and more importantly get along with your partner right so learn what they like. You know maybe you might like it as well. That's you'd ever know might have much more in common than even. Oh this is in and outside of the bedroom right. Smart smart doesn't apply to all walks and talks all your relationship all walks and talk to the relationship. This doesn't have to do with anything that's on. Pg i mean it can though if you want. Yeah it's up to you word lesson nine. It's okay to be. Majesty would stay that way just because you love someone doesn't mean that they won't piss you off a thousand a thousand percent it's inevitable but it's really important to understand that eventually you have to leave that space of anger and get back to a place of love as hard as that might be because you might be really pissed off with that person you might really want to slap them up emotionally speaking. Obviously we are not advocating physical violence anywhere for but whether it takes an hour or a day. The sooner the better always be very intentional about choosing to leave that space of anger and get to that place a love and really focus on what needs to be done to get to that better place as opposed to just being in that emotional flux of like you know piss me off and how could you say that like. That's it's not healthy and it doesn't make you feel right. You're like yes. I met him her or them right. Like the point is what is it gonna take for you to not be angry with that with your partner. Yeah that's not worth it to stay mad lesson ten..

"You guys are going to change individually which means by nature. The relationship is also going to change. So as you're changing inning bobbing as you should. It's really important to still have those touch points with your partner through the changes through the absence of the downs. Blow your mind. They're mean it kind of is is a true point. The people don't think yeah that lesson six. Give gifts that your partner wants. I love this. This might be this big. you've ever said effort relearn. Those early is the. You shouldn't give gifts that you wanna give. You should actually give them something that they want yet. I thought about this because recently you're watching modern the modern family show right ass and they had this where the wife gives the husband some gifts that he doesn't want she has no clue what he wants. Both the crazy thing is. She never even asked what he wants. He had no idea right chooses taking a guess. He's like let me surprise them with this great band that he loves no. He doesn't even know that song. So let's get it together. You messed that up. So i think you should ask. What your pert- partner wants and then you won't fall into this trap. Ask them what they want and at least give them some of the things they want. You can always get surprises. But make sure to give them something that they definitely want tidbit. I recommend surprising people with an amazon gift card. That's surprised everybody wants. Some people want to be surprised with other things. Maybe but i know you know what i like..

"Today. Chapter sixteen god tells ezekiel and extended metaphor about his relationship with israel and while the overall point of the metaphor is clear every commentary. I read cautioned against getting into the weeds with this metaphor simply because every comparison breaks down at some level. So we'll just look at it through the lens of regular glasses not a microscope. Because that's how most metaphors and parables are intended to be received. So here's what we're looking at. Israel is an abandoned orphan unloved and left to die but then someone the king of the universe by the way rescues this orphan and nurses her back to health. He uses nineteen verbs to describe all he does for the orphan when he rescues her. I passed by you. i saw you. I said to you live. I made you flourish. I spread the corner of my garment over you. I covered your nakedness. I made my vow to you. I entered into a covenant with you. I bathed with water. I washed off your blood. I anointed you with oil. I closed you with embroidered. Cloth i- shod you with fine leather. I wrapped you in fine linen. I covered you with silk i- adorned you with garments at put bracelets on your risks and a chain on your neck epa ring on your nose and earrings in your ears and a beautiful crown on your head. I bestowed splendor on you. But eventually she loves the kings gifts more than the king himself and because of his care for her. She's beautiful so she trusts in her beauty to get our whatever she wants. She uses all the king's gifts to lure in other lovers. She makes idols out of them and in a devastating turn of events. She forgets that. She was once a helpless child who was rescued and she ends up sacrificing her own children or idolatry becomes unsatisfying but instead of turning away from it she dives in deeper idolatry always demands more making us needier and more frantic and insecure. She goes from being a prostitute who receives gifts from her lover's to one who is so desperate for love and security that she gives them gifts to keep them around in verse forty one god says he's about to put a stop to it all his judgment for her sins we'll bring them to a screeching halt. He says her sins are even worse than those of sodom and gomorrah and notice. What god says was the root of saddam's big problem. We tend to only pay attention to how their problem manifested in one specific way but as always god gets down to the heart of the issue. So what was the heart of saddam's issue in verses forty nine thousand fifty god says behold. This was the guilt of your sister. Sodom she and her daughters had pride excessive food and prosperous ease but did not aid the poor and needy. They were haughty and did an abomination before me. So i removed them. God addresses their other sins elsewhere in scripture like genesis nineteen and jude one seven and he doesn't ignore their sexual sin here either. He addresses the abomination. They did but he attached their actions to their attitudes to their pride and arrogance. God is always digging deeper. And of course that pride and arrogance manifested and other areas besides their sexual sin and god points those out here too. He had given them so much but they lived in luxury without caring for the poor and needy and in the midst of all this god says jerusalem is worse than sodom and he promises to punish her for her sin a punishment that looks a lot like death but he still promises to restore her fortunes in the future in chapter seventeen we read a payable. That would normally call for glasses. But let's put down our glasses and pull out some binoculars because this one's about a bird. God says a big eagle who is king nebi of babylon plucks. Up a shoot like a tiny vine and drops it down again and it grows into a tall vine the shoot is king chin the one who surrendered kicking nebi was captured and then provided for all the days of his life. We read that story in second kings twenty four and twenty five so we can see how the imagery fits the eagle plucking shoot and dropping it down and having it grow tall then king nebi does a little more gardening planting king zedekiah in judah handle things but unlike the first fine king chin kings at a cairo reaches out to a different eagle egypt. Who happens to be flying. Overhead kings at aci is hoping to be plucked up and transplanted but instead he'll just wither and die. Egypt is not god's appointed eagle. God promised all this a long time ago. He sent jeremiah to warn the kings of judah to surrender to babylon if they wanted to survive. It sounds completely illogical but it was his plan and only qingcheng follow the plan albeit probably out of fear not surrender. Everyone else looked for a different escape. Route than the one god commanded and they got what god promised judgment and exile but god kept his promise to bliss to king chin thrived even amidst. Half-hearted obedience because god is merciful. God wraps up. The parable by saying he himself will plant a sprig on the lofty mountains of israel and it will grow up into a cedar that will bear fruit and make shade and be a home for all kinds of birds. This is a reference to the messiah and the coming kingdom and god promises. His prophecy will be fulfilled. My god shot today was at the end of chapter. Sixteen right after. God reprimands israel for playing the whore and being worse than sodom israel has despised. God and broken the covenant. And do you know what his responses he leans in he broadens and widens and deepens his relationship with his people by expanding the covenant they broke the conditional covenant so he made an eternal one. They forgotten the covenant. But he says he will remember it. They've sinned against him an inverse sixty three. He says he will atone for their sins. He will cover the cost himself. Do you see him. Tipping them off to the plan for the arrival of jesus on the scene here this has been his plan all along to restore his people to himself. God's excessive love is shocking and praise inducing. He's wear the joy is we've been reading scripture together for eight months and i thought it might be fun to try to memorize scripture together. August bonus content. Who's my personal scripture memorization method. I always used songs. And these are some of the songs effort and for myself and for years to help me. Commit god's word to memory it's nothing fancy but if it's helped me retain some of these verses for almost a decade so if this sounds great to you but you're not in our patriot family you can join today by clicking the link in the show notes or backbreaking the patriot page at the bible. Veneman weren't even allowed to say anything about Veneman, which made me say, you know, talk about him even more. Who's ever the left tells me not to talk about anything. You have to talk about it more. You have talked about it double and triple the amount. That's what they do. They try to silence you. The best way to break through that wall of silence is to flip them the double barrel middle finger and talk about it more. So it's just not right. How the left never seems to have any principles at all. They really object to this Stuart Sheller, calling out our military leadership, political leadership and others for not taking responsibility for the disaster in Afghanistan. Call him out, making public enemy number one. Yet when Veneman called out President Trump in uniform up to Capitol Hill, he was a hero. It's almost like the leftist No principles at all right. Well, he followed that up Stuart Sheller with another video. Where he's not apparently backing down at all. I don't know Stuart Sheller again. I can't Can't vouch for him because I don't know him. "For his life in the ICU right now another face to judge Friday for the first time. This was after that shootout in front of a key. Caruso, the middle school in South Seattle. Almost Cole Miller on the steps of AKI Karoshi Middle School of violent clash between two teenagers. Seattle police say a 14 year old boy began shooting at a 17 year old. He then fired back. The 17 year old now in critical condition at Harborview, and then we heard the sirens and said, Yeah, those were gunshots. It's just very discouraging. As for the 14 year old, he's been booked for assault and unlawful possession of a firearm going before a judge. Despite the defense, asking, he be released with an electronic home monitoring device to his father. That judge declined the conversation about gun violence in Seattle, picking up yet again. "Today's reading opens judah is in the middle of a drought that has come as a part of their judgment. They cry out to god but as we know. They're not crying out him for repentance. They're only crying out to him for relief. Their prayer is beautiful but most commentators seem to think it was actually jeremiah. Preying on their behalf again. Here are two reasons why commentators think that a we've seen no other signs of repentance from them and be after the prayer god tells jeremiah again not to pray for them regardless of who is praying this prayer god responds in verses ten through thirteen and says the answer is no god says his plan is to deliver them over to sword famine and pestilence and jeremiah says you know those are the exact things their profits are them. You won't do right jeremiah. Seems to be trying to defend the people because maybe they've just been misled by the prophets. First of all. They're still guilty of the ends of idolatry oppressing the poor and slaughtering their kids so even if the prophets were misleading them about there being no consequences for those sins they still committed those sins and have hearts that have turned away from god. Jeremiah seems to forget that altogether and second god makes it clear that those profits are not his prophets. All the things. They're saying things they're either making up in their own minds or hearing from demons and in an ironic move of justice god will have them be devoured by the very things they promise won't happen including sword and famine alongside the people who believed them. God grieves over this and then either jeremiah or judah offers up what appears to be another prayer on judas behalf in verses nineteen through twenty two one reason to think it's jeremiah is because as a prophet he represents the people to god and represents god to the people. He's a mediator of sorts and he still seems to have that priestley heart since he comes from a long line of priests. There mediators too. So it's probably the most natural thing in the world for him to continue pleading with god hoping that god will relent on the other hand one reason to think. It's judah praying. This prayer is because they get one thing super wrong. In the prayer in twenty one the prayer says do not break your covenant with us. God is not the one who broke the covenant with them they broke it but it would be just like judah to put that spin on it for sure in chapter fifteen god responds to the prayer by driving the point home. A little further he says. Even if moses and samuel asked me despair these people the destruction. I'd still say no and of the four possible outcomes famine sword pestilence and exile. He has already determined the specific end for each person. Any time it starts to feel at god's being harsh it's a good time to zoom out and remember exactly what has happened in isolation his response seems extreme but in the overall story he's given them everything and they're not just worshipping false idols. They're sacrificing their own children to those idols. God does act severely but he always act justly starting in verse ten jeremiah and god have a conversation where jeremiah himself seems to think that god is being too harsh not just on the people but on him god reminds jeremiah that he's working on his purposes and plans and the he hasn't forgotten him in the midst of all this or abandoned him. Jeremiah loves galway and his word and he's willing to endure a lonely life to be used by god but it's hard not only. Does everyone hate him for speaking the truth but he knows these trials. He's warning people are coming for him to and it all feels like too much to endure. Then god responds with a bit of a rebuke but also a promise that he will be with jeremiah and strengthen him in verse twenty one god tells jeremiah i will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked and redeem you from the grasp of the ruthless. That means they will have a grip on him at some point. God's people are never promised will be spared from trials but we're always promised that we're not alone in them. But god is the only real companion jeremiah will have god forbids him to marry or have kids not because got his cruel. But because god doesn't want any hypothetical family members to suffer. I think it's interesting. That people quote god's command to add them to be fruitful and multiply as though it's a universal command but i've never heard anyone quote god's command to jeremiah in that way some of us are given singleness and childlessness for god's purposes. God also says that no one should mourn over the people who will die judah. Their deaths are the result of their wickedness but because they haven't paid any attention to god and his cabinet. They'll have no idea why god is doing this. They'll accuse him of being unfair. But god says after all this he will bring back a remnant he will send people to gather them and bring them home. They will repent and fully know. Who got is finally in chapter seventeen. God tells us about two kinds of people. The man who trust in man and doesn't rely on god his soul will be parched. Then there's the man who trust in god. His soul flourishes even in a drought. I nine goes on to say that the man who trust in himself is a fool because his heart can't be trusted he shortsighted but god isn't it. God sees everything and his judgments can be trusted we close with a lengthy reminder about the importance of keeping the sabbath as a set apart day of the week. Why do you think it's so hard for people to take a day off. Why does god have to command that. The people may not realize it but failure to keep the sabbath signals and mistrust in god's provision. that's also where my god shot came in today. What kind of. God sets up resting as an act of worship. That's incredible people. Tend to view god as an angry taskmaster making demands on his people nonstop and while god does call his people to work hard for sure he also knows. Our souls desperately need to reconnect with him and that doesn't happen as easily in the chaos sabbath gives us space for intimacy with god. He wants us to slow down and fix our eyes on him yes. He wants constant communication but he also wants focused time to put a mary life spin on it. He doesn't just want a kiss on the way out the door or a few text messages here and there those are great and they're helpful in staying connected but he also wants a weekly date night where the kids are at the sitter and there are no errands to run and you can just sit down and enjoy a meal together. Does the Landmark Opioid Settlement Do Enough to Help?

"We just mentioned the opioid epidemic. This week, four of the world's biggest healthcare companies, including Johnson and Johnson reached $26 billion settlement for their role in the opioid crisis. These corporations made and distributed huge quantities of prescription pain pills at a time when addiction and overdose rates in the U. S were surging. So what happens now? NPR correspondent Brian Mann reports full time on addiction and is with us now to walk us through this complicated deal, Brian. Welcome. Thank you so much for joining us. Thanks for having me first. Could you just go over the main points of the settlement? You know these companies the drug maker Johnson and Johnson and also these three big drug wholesalers, AmerisourceBergen, Cardinal Health and McKesson They've agreed to pay a maximum amount of $26 billion, And as part of that agreement, a huge percentage of the money will go to drug treatment programs and social service programs. Health care things like that, and negotiators say this is a big improvement over the tobacco settlement of the 19 nineties. Where, if you remember, a lot of the money has been siphoned away by governments for other things not used to reduce smoking. So this money would be paid out over 17 years, and supporters say that will mean a steady stream of funding for programs that might help with this long term process of ending. This devastating public health crisis. Now two states Washington State in West Virginia, have already announced that they won't sign on to this national settlement and the city of Philadelphia has also rejected it. Why, Why is that? Is there something that they say is missing? Yeah, For one thing, there's no admission of wrongdoing by these companies or their executives, You know, as part of this wave of lawsuits against these corporations that got deep into the opioid business. We've learned factual details about how they flooded communities with pain pills. They kept growing that drug pipeline even as addiction rates and deaths grew. Internal documents from some of these firms showed that at times executives joked about the people suffering addiction. And a lot of these officials who reject this

Larry Elder Explains Why He's Running for California Governor

"So, Larry, I am going to ask you the question. Why do you want to run and what makes you think you can win? Frankly, I don't have a choice. This state is just absolutely is become almost ungovernable. People are leaving the state for the first time in the state's history. There's a magazine called CEO magazine. It looks at things like taxes and spending. Unfunded pension liability, disagreed to which the The state is business friendly. In 17 years of that magazines, existence all 17 years, California has been ranked of the last and the least friendly state in which you do visit bottom of all 50 states. The school system is a wreck. I went to Crenshaw High School, You saw the movie Boyz in the hood. I recently checked 2% of kids and my former high school or math proficient Who the hell sends her kids to a school where only 2% of people are mad, proficient and as a crypt school, meaning the gangs dominate the school. I know that because I said he told me he chose Crenshaw High School because he wanted to go to a school. That was a Crip school. You've got, of course, rising crime because the police have been demonized. The the voters were duped into signing something called Proposition 47. Mark that allows you to to steal up to 950 bucks every single day, and you're not a selling. You won't go to jail to give you a ticket if they catch you, so the idea was that instead of sending people who are shoplifting, many of whom are addicted to drugs to to prison, we'll get them in to go into rehab. Well, the latter part is okay, but we're see incentive. What's the inducement? What's the threat that they're facing? If they don't do it? There's no consequence whatsoever, so they're stealing to support the drug habit. Staying on the streets. There are danger to themselves to others. The taking of property about 10% of them are schizophrenic, meaning of danger to themselves or to others. I'm sorry, mark. They should physic. "17 years" Discussed on The Bible Recap

"By isaiah is primarily concerned with warning. God's people about their sins. Today he launches into the first fifteen chapters of prophetic speeches or oracles to a bunch of pagan nations. And we'll find out why he starts out with babylon which is one of the ruling powers of the ancient world. They're the ones who will take the people of judah into captivity jerusalem falls and about one hundred years and in today's reading. God pronounces eight prophetic judgment on them for the thing they haven't done yet. God's sovereignty shows up right off the bat in this scenario in thirteen three he refers to babylon as my consecrated ones. As far as they're concerned they have not consecrated themselves to yali. No sir but the point of this terminology is to show that god has consecrated them or set them apart for his own purposes. He has a plan to use them and their sinful ways to work out his long term plans to bless his people initially through discipline but then through restoration. Babylon will think they're doing their own thing. But they'll be fulfilling god's plan and the fact that it's written out more than one hundred years in advance serves as evidence that the idea didn't originate with them then even though god is using their sin to accomplish his will as he does with all sin he still punishes it as he does with all sin so he tells them how they will eventually be overtaken in return for what they did to his people. This is the kind of big big picture sovereignty that it's hard to wrap our minds around. Sometimes it's the kennedy thing that can feel threatening to our ideas of self sovereignty and it's okay to wrestle with that but what i always come back to is that ultimately i'm really glad i'm not self sovereign. I know my heart to well to wish that on anyone so bad things you're about to happen. I to judah at the hands of babylon and then to babylon for what they did to judah. They'll both be destroyed for babylon. The end of the story is judgment and desolation. But for god's people the end of the story is restoration and fulfillment the people of babylon which probably represents all the ruling powers of the world will eventually attach themselves to the peoples of the restored israel and offer themselves as servants. That's how juxtaposed things will be from where they are now. Oh how the tables will turn chapter. Fourteen paints this story in an interesting way remember. How prophecy can often speak to or more stories at the same time and how it can also speak truth about things that have happened in the past. Some scholars believe that's what we're seeing here in fourteen twelve to fifteen. What's for certain. Is that isaiah speaking. About what will happen to the king of babylon who will lose all his power and position too arrogant attempts to exalt himself. What's possible is that isaiah is paralleling. The king situation to the story of a high ranking angelic being someone referred to as day star or star of the dawn in most translations some translations listed as lucifer. That's the latin translation of the english. Word were day star or star of the dawn. Either way it's a common noun not a proper name regardless what you call him. This angelic being decided he wanted to be god instead of serve god and that's when he was cast down from heaven. There's some possible. Overlap between this passage and ezekiel twenty eight. Eleven through seventeen which seems to point to the same idea. We'll post a link in the show notes with a bit more info on this. But it's something. I hold with a really open hand moving on from babylon. We continue with oracles against four more nations. Today next up is a syria. The ones who destroyed the northern kingdom and mount a pretty severe attack against judah too. So god is going to punish them and as got his crushing them. The yoke and the burden they've placed on israel will be broken effectively freeing israel. Then we move onto felicita. I say reminds the philistines that got as only promised to preserve and protect his people so even if they happen to see a reprieve from oppression. It won't last as ahah says. God's heart is set on his people and he'll be a refuge to them onto moab their oracle gets two whole chapters and has a distinctly different tone from the oracles for the other nations for instance. We repeatedly see god morning over the destruction of moab this is almost certainly because the mo abides are distant relatives of the israelites. Ruth the moa bite was king. David's great grandmother. And david left his parents with the king of moab wiz live was being threatened regardless these distant relatives have to be judged for their sends like anyone else. It's always interesting to see. God mourn over having to punish sin god is a real person with a real personality. And he's multifaceted just like anyone else though. His characteristics never contradict each other. The moa bites will mourn over their own destruction. Shaving their heads putting on sackcloth and they'll seek refuge in judah. I had to be honest. I kind of chuckled. When in the midst of all their grief we came across this verse mourn utterly stricken for the raisin cakes of cure harissa. Sorry isaiah. I'll mourn for a lot of things but raising cakes are not on the list. Today's final oracle is for damascus. a city in syria. The prophecy opens by saying it will become a heap of ruins and even though it exists today it was conquered at least three times over the next four hundred years and destroyed at least once but god says there will be a remnant here. Why does damascus get a remnant when they're not part of his family. There's something interesting going on here and it helps if we know two things first that damascus shares a border with the northern kingdom of israel. And second that. The northern kingdom of israel was often collectively referred to as ephraim you may recall that ephraim is one of the ten tribes in the northern kingdom in this oracle ephraim and damascus are kind of blurred together the northern kingdom has gotten so far off the path that they've effectively merged with this pagan nation despite that god has mercy on them by preserving remnant who will turn to worship. Y'all way again. My god shot came from the spots. Where god mourned over the destruction of moab in fifteen five is heart cries out for moab and in sixteen nine. He says i will drench you with my tears. It's incredible to see his tender heartedness toward a pagan nation. That has rejected him. Most people don't expect to see compassion like this in the old testament but his character has always been the same god. The father god the son and god the spirit are not only consistent throughout eternity but within themselves as well yesterday today and forever keys where the joy is one of my favorite things i do. Brood X Cicadas Swarm Across Several Eastern States

"The eastern half of the country is experiencing a heat wave this weekend. The warmer weather will amplify the sounds of billions of brood 10 cicadas taking over the region. NPR's Amy held reports. These bugs appear once every 17 years crawling up from the ground to spawn before dying from parts of the Midwest. Through the mid Atlantic. The sounds of the cicadas are peaking, reaching decibels in the mid nineties that's as loud as a subway or a motorcycle or a shouted conversation. Entomologist Jean Kritzky in Cincinnati says the trees have become coursing centers, and the males are seeing in an effort to attract Females, all part of the mad rush to set up the next generation. People delay her eggs shortly after meeting and they'll hatch in about 6 to 10 weeks and then the name soul dropped too low the ground for the next 17 years just a few more weeks until this brood quiets down again reaching its end by the end of the month, Amy held NPR news.

"Common species of insect there. Over three thousand species of cicadas all around the world and they can be found on every continent except antarctica. Most of the species are annual species with regular life cycle that occurs every year with some species going dormant for several years. However there is a particular genus in the cicadas family. Keta or periodic. They're found exclusively in the eastern part of the united states and they have a very unusual development cycle. They will only appear once every thirteen or seventeen years when they do. If you happen to be in the area it can be an incredible experience. Billions of insects will rise up almost simultaneously and create an incredible cacophony. So what exactly is happening. And why do they do this periodic. Data's engage in reproductive strategy. Known as predator sation the idea behind it is pretty simple. it's basically taking a shotgun approach to reproduction. When the cicadas emerge a whole lot of them are going to get eaten by predators like birds however if you have multiple billions of cicadas. They can't eat all of them. It's sorta like the online campaign a few years ago to get a million people to rush into area fifty one. If you get enough people it would be impossible to stop them. All a one acre plot of land with periodic. Cicadas can have as many as one point. Five million of them emerge at the same time sometime in the spring of the year that they're going to emerge they begin digging tunnels to the surface. Some might actually build small mounds which extend above the surface. They're all waiting for the ground temperature to reach a certain level which is about sixty degrees fahrenheit or eighteen degrees celsius when the temperature reaches that point which is usually in late april or early may depending on the area. They all come out at exactly the same time. All of the cicadas which emerge at the same time in the same schedule are considered to be part of a single brood. There are twenty three of the brood in the united states which are on separate thirteen or seventeen year timers in two thousand twenty one. The largest brewed brew. Ten is coming out. Which is why people are making such a big deal out of it. Bruton is actually scattered over multiple states from ohio to tennessee to indiana pennsylvania and a few others. So what do the cicadas do. Once they leave the ground. once they're out there considered nymphs. There are still in the casings which they've been growing in the ground and the first order of business is to molt. They will do that either on the ground or on some vertical surface. They will then do nothing for a few days as they wait for their exo skeletons to harden and finalize their transition to adults. I should note that. Cicadas are not locus locus are more like grasshoppers they have a mouth in the things takeda's mouth they have more of a sucker like a mosquito. They feed by making small slits plants and consuming their fluid. They might damage the plant. But they really don't consume them per se and they won't kill them. They won't wipe out an entire field of crops as an adult s. Akita has one real purpose in life to reproduce at this point once it becomes of adult. It only has a few more weeks to live and during this time it has to not be eaten and try to find a mate the males will make an incredibly loud sound that can reach up to one hundred decibels which.

Kinda co mingle in a way but when they start coming out of the ground sometimes almost all in one day or not all but start all in one day. They're they're They're crawling up trees. I've seen one sides of houses. I've seen troves anything. They can get up on so that when they come out of that show that they've been living in and put out their wings and it's it's really interesting it It's kind of awesome as a matter of fact if you find one crawling up a tree Go back in a few minutes and see if it has started to crack down the top of that show and this creature that comes out of there is going to be an inch long wings even longer than that It he's it's so ugly it's beautiful and they don't they come out they made and then and then they die so they're not eating on the tops. "Real world. We learn how to deal with different people and learn responsibility and it's a special time prepare for our future in a Charles Dickens novel titled A Tale of Two Cities. He brilliantly stated it was the best of times it was the worst of times it was the age of wisdom. It was the age of foolishness. It was a season of light. It was a season of Darkness. It was the spring of hope. It was the winter of Despair. That's a pretty good description of how life was back when I was a teenager for this week's episode. I spoke to Bridget her mother Gina and Hannah Bridget Hannah and brown Wells were best friends all three girls attended high school together in Arizona on December 29th, 2014. The body of Brianna Wells was found in the south Phoenix alley near Mobile Lane and 18th Place Brianna had been shot and then dumped their her two best friends Hannah and Bridget also teenagers at the time have never forgotten their friend. It's been nearly six years since Brianna was taken from them. They're both angry that her killer is still free. They want to see Justice for their friend and have vowed to keep Rihanna's memory alive. So that no one ever forgets her I connect to this interview, especially unique. Typically. It's a family member who's advocating for their deceased loved one in this episode. I'm speaking to the victims two best friends in the mother of one of these friends. May I ask why these ladies are pushing for justice and not the family. All three said that Brianna's family has just moved on and have done little to pursue Justice for her regardless off. I'm glad these three friends are committed to getting Justice for this young girl. They have even brought in a private investigator to help them find out what happened to Brianna in 2014. Now on with the story off Brianna Wells is told by Bridgette Gina and Hannah. I started my interview with Bridget who told me about her friendship with Brianna. I first met her in June eighth grade. We had like a history class together. We kind of sat next to each other and we were acquaintances at that time. And then in freshman year, we became really close friends because of our friend Hannah we would hang out pretty much every day. She was just really sweet really funny. She had been held back so she was a little bit like a year older than us, but she said acted way younger than us. It almost felt like she was our little sister. But yeah, we were just really good friends with her. We used to hang out pretty much every day. And as we got to know her more Through The Years wasn't really allowed to go out much freshman year, like she was never allowed to really leave the house, but probably took off more years when she was finally allowed to start hanging out at Hannah's house and we would hang out there a lot and she was just she was like a little kid. She was she was kind of like had she reminded me of having life personality of a puppy like that's how I was kind of think of her kind of acted really like a little kid. Yeah. She was just sweet and funny and then we ended up we we were just really close. We went to a lot of her like fac event to a lot of like sleepovers at her house. We went to her sister's like going away to college party. We were kind of close to her brother. So you got the door parents or family pretty well. And so what kind of what kind of people were parents her parents are really weird. They were very controlling about Where She Went what she did. I remember they went off on vacation and yep. Point and they weren't going to take her because I don't remember why Johannes mom cuz she was over at his house. All the time was like, oh she can just stay with us and they like gave her a list off like rules and they gave she was on all these like crazy medications that they they called Hannah's mom like every hour on the hour. Like did you take her medication what she's doing in a really controlling? Well, it was just really weird. I remember she had like a it was pretty much like a sandwich bag full of medications that she had to take like three times a day and we know that she had BPD so she was borderline personality but a lot of borderline personality, they're not supposed to be on medication. So I don't know where she was getting medication from no Hana is your other friend. Is that correct? Yeah. I'm okay. So when you guys hung around together did your friend seemed troubled or will she worried about anything that she was she afraid of death or did she think that maybe somebody was out to harm her? Does she have any of those thoughts? There's that's that's what that's what it was really shocking is that you know, she didn't really have any like enemies or anything like that. Like we don't remember her having issues with anyone really other than her parents. That's why it was really weird. She never was like scared of anything nothing like that. Yeah. I mean she's a seventeen-year-old kid. So to me, I mean, I'm sorry, but most seventeen-year-olds. I mean they didn't really quite do anything to make enough enemies yet to have anybody wanted something to them. So it would seem kind of strange why somebody would harm her. I mean if it wasn't a robbery or some kind of a sexual assault. She likely wouldn't have anybody that wanted her dead. I wouldn't think unless she did something really bad to somebody but yeah, no, but it's based on what you're saying about your friend. It seems like she was a pretty friendly normal in high school kid. That wouldn't hurt a fly. I don't remember her ever being in like in trouble or she never did that we knew of like a pig. Drugs or anything, like nothing like that. She was very innocent. She we weren't really like kids that were going out and partying. We were pretty much babysitting Hannah's twelve-year-old Brothers every day. So that's what we did. We just hung out with her twelve year old neighborhood kids and played Kick the Can and stuff like that. We weren't doing anything that would get us in trouble really that's kind of what we did and then it's just I don't understand how she got into that scenario. It doesn't make sense to me. So when was the last time did you do you remember when you last said your conversation with her the last time we had seen her is wage was probably in like, what was it August? Okay. So in March, we went to her slumber party. It was very weird. So it was that year in March. She had a summer party and her parents right before they they got divorced parents were like fighting the whole time her mom. Her sister's boyfriend was there and her mom was calling her sister like a horror for having her boyfriend there. It was just really uncomfortable and that's when we yep. I said there was walks on her cupboards. They weren't allowing them to eat. It was really uncomfortable situation and then a couple months later her parents get divorced and she moved in with her dad and her sister took wage college and then her I think maybe like a couple of months later her brother moved away out of state and then they sent her away. Well before they sent her away. She was telling us in March that she was pregnant mom, but she never had a boyfriend and we had never met a boyfriend. She's never talked about a boyfriend and we were she was shelling so she was like really tall really skinny, so we could start to notice a stomach on her, but she thought it was just cuz we knew that she wasn't eating so we thought she was like starving. That's why we thought she had a stomach we were we didn't believe that she was pregnant. So she kept telling us that she was pregnant. That's probably around the last time we talked to her cuz she tells wage like, oh my parents are sending me away to somewhere in Nevada and I won't be able to see you guys for a long time. So we were like, okay it was normal. They always sent her job. Like a mental health facility in Tempe. We didn't think that that was weird. But then she's gone for a couple of months. She was gone from August to December and then she messages Us in December and she says like hey, I'm back but my parents won't let me see you guys and they're not going to let me go back to school and she's like, they're not letting me do the house and not letting me hang out with anyone and they're not going to let me go back to school. So we were like, oh, okay. Well, that sucks. Like keep us keep in touch. We tried to stay in touch with her and then maybe like a couple of weeks after she messaged.
