"You know the people that are, as you say, are not getting the big salaries and not being you know, shown on the news every night. Well, I drive hired. I have well from your lips to God's ears. You know, I I've heard from a number of folks all across the country. Um, you know, a friend of who has a grandson called me up and told me he loved sitting down with his grandson because the kid asked, you know why is there a special Olympics athletes? What is that program? What a special Olympics. Why somebody with a developmental disability considered a hero, and it made the You know the grandpa half going into the question, You know, you know too often people with developmental disabilities. Have been shunned, have been pushed aside. Yes, but special epic shows that you know they're great athletes and they can compete in teams that they could get married. They could live on their own. They can hold down jobs. These are ideas that you know, 50 years ago, No one believes could happen. And many people across America still don't believe people that are in special Olympics that have disabilities, developmental disabilities. You know, Congrats, Married and live on their own can hold a job, so he's kind of conversations and awareness or great. So it's supposed to be fun and not self righteous and not preaching but fun. Gotta look for the hero. You gotta if you have a great conversation about him with your niece, nephew, child grandchild, friend, Little kid. That's great. I love it would be wonderful. I love it, too. And when, when did exactly your family When did the idea of special Olympics What year was it that it came about? And then when did it really begin? You know, my mother ran a camp when she moved to Washington D c. We lived in a rented farm out in Maryland. When? Yeah, I'm gonna President Kennedy. I'm gonna let you hold out when we come back. We will continue with with this very important story about the Special Olympics and the work of the Schreiber family continues with mark his new book, 10, Hidden Heroes and Markets. "Is the Shriver family. Um, the Shriver family that has done so much and has started so many organizations and Mark is president of Save The Children Action Network in Washington, D. C. Created the Choice program. Former Maryland state legislator. So many books, including a book about your father, rediscovering my father, Sergeant Shriver. And what a family mark And you're here, though, because you have a brand new Look But not your typical book. It is your first Children's book. Head. Thank you. Thank you, Frank. Yes, thank you for having me on. It's the first Children's book I've written. Thank you for those nice words about the family as well. And it's just a A picture book it zits. A counting. Hide. Seek book if you will call 10 hidden heroes, and it's really, um, adventure book for young kids to try to identify the heroes on each page. So on page 10, there's 10 on page sign. There's nine so forth. Onto the last one, and it's really the heroes or everyday heroes. Folks who do good work every day. Don't get a lot of recognition. Don't make a lot of money, and hopefully there's a lot of fun involved and hopefully a good message to Absolutely. Mark. I have to. We have to go back in time. Was it? The philosophy of your family to always give back. Is that how you all grew up? I don't know that we had a philosophy per se. I mean, I think you know, um, my mother and father were devout Catholics went to mass every day. And, um, you know, Jesus called the Feed the hungry, clothe the naked shelter. The homeless visit those in prison. I think was a driving part of their life and that was passed on to my siblings. And to me, you know, it's it's same con you have in Isaiah in the Old Testament. Um you know, and, uh, Islam you have If law which is a call to repair the world, Judaism is too Kunal arm to repair the world. So I think that you know, not only in our family, but a number of families and people that I've had the honor of working with. It's to try to make the world a little bit better every day. Um, you know, my you mentioned my mom and dad obviously know. They created my mother. The special Olympics my father, the paint store and had started legal services. Just a name, a couple those air big efforts, But there's so many heroes who are doing wonderful things every day. That's really what I think this book is a celebration about And give us a quick background about save the Children. I said the Children was created in England. Actually, about a little over 100 years ago can be united States during the great Depression, feeding kids in Kentucky. Um and I run their programs here in the United States. On Because so many kids in this country it's hard to believe Frankie that there are millions of Children that are relying on schools for breakfast and lunch. And when those schools were closed, they're going hungry. S so save the Children focuses in rule America with kids who are living in poverty, families that are struggling, but that want to do the best they can for their kids. So we are putting books in their homes, Um, in support, reinforcing the importance of literacy or development, So the kids entertainer garden ready to learn. In our succeeding by the end of third grade, so those are two huge milestones, and we also obviously want to make sure they're fed now. So we've really doing a lot of work in the last 12, plus months in Feeding kids across America. Oh, my gosh. It's so important right now, Food lines of the longest they've ever been in this country. It's hard to believe that in America, you know which is the richest country in the history of the world that there are Children going to bed. Hungry. Um, the waking up hungry families are struggling. I mean Cove, it has had devastating impacts on a number of levels. Obviously. But save the Children is working in rural Americans in some of the poorest communities in this country that are struggling because so many enroll America don't have civic infrastructure. The You know, libraries, the food banks, the schools and the non profits that we have in suburban and urban setting. So there's a huge overlook group of people in rural American that's for save the Children work. And those air, you know, hidden heroes, folks that work it. Save the Children Day in and day out that are being creative on how kids are getting fed on getting them educational resource is So that they're not falling further behind. And that's what this book can hidden heroes is trying to celebrate. You know the mom and dad or doing the good work of raising their Children to school guard doctor and the nurse in the hospital, but also the custodian. You know who is making sure that the hospital is clean and Taking care of, you know the person picking up the trash and person doing recycling. These are all the hidden heroes that are next door. You know Pope Francis, who I wrote a book on Frankie. Um, you know, talks about the hidden saint to live next door who changed the history of the world from little acts of love. And I know it sounds kind of corny, but that's what 10 hidden heroes is that the front attempt to find those heroes in each of the pages. We're living next door to so many of us and don't get a lot of recognition and get paid a lot of money. Well, the book is just beautiful, Mark absolutely beautifully done. It's And besides counting, there's just so much on each page for kids to take in. Yeah, I think the illustrator you know, we came up with the idea in our family and during the beginning part of the pandemic and, uh, you know, worked with loyal, impress on publishing it and There were a couple of illustrators we looked at. And as a family, we took it. We have my wife, Jean and I have three kids. Um and we took a poll on the You know, illustrator we liked, uh, secret Poland. We all agreed that Laura was the best. It's positive. It's bright. Um, the paint. The pictures are great, and they're all sorts of. I hope hidden heroes that are on the page that people can have a discussion about. There's one in there where Ah ah young lady who is blind is teaching her friend how to read Braille and another one where a young boy is in a wheelchair, is participating in a race for the homeless. And so many of our heroes are perceived to be male bridge powerful. On. Do you know, Um white and these air, different heroes with different nationalities, different races in different skill sets. Um, but each of these folks are leading and showing us goodness and decency and humility in different ways. And that's what I I hope kids get out of it that you know if you happen to be have Ah, you know, being a wheelchair. You could be a hero in a different way than somebody who can, you know, run in a race with their two legs, which is different than companies picking up trash, But we each have something to contribute. For the good of our community. I think it's it's brilliantly done, and I think it's a book that we all need right now. Especially right now with Cove it Ah, year later. And you know this is such a great learning opportunity for all of the kids and the families as well to sit down and and to really talk about these hidden heroes, Thies These, You know the people that are, as you say, are not getting the big salaries and not being you know, shown on the news every night..

"K G o a 10 hide such a Franklin before numbers. 80 88 10. Good to have you guys along. Again. Very appreciative of the callers. Guess the textures. The e mailers. Thank you trying to, you know, figure out that Stanford story, which continues to roll on The All right, So let's get to some of your calls and then in a couple minutes, I do want to bring on our guest and talk a little bit about, um, Curt Schilling and Barry Bonds and this whole Hall of Fame thing, because there's something bigger there than just the Hall of Fame. David and Al Grove is with me on KGO. Hi, David. Thanks for calling. What do your thoughts here? Hey, Chip. Thanks for taking my call. Good evening. You know, Here's my point, and I know you may not like to hear this, but you know I'm very skeptical how the vaccine is getting to a lot of people, and it's taking a lot slower than anticipated. I understand that it all fell on inviting lap and I feel sorry for him. You know for this idiot that lie to everybody saying they just I just can't stand him made his guts so assed far as I'm concerned, these companies advisor You know, Johnson and Johnson all these. These companies didn't get the you know their button gear and start working seven days a week, seven days a week. 24 hours a day, get a three shift to get a graveyard swing and noon and also a day shift to get all these damn vaccines. So we can start getting these people vaccinated and have the military as well a lower 50 states and get him out there and start helping the doctors and nurses to give these people shots in their arms. Yeah. I mean, I totally agree. I mean, you can't rush the the trials. You know, you gotta let that go the way it goes. But for the others, I mean to create more. I mean, we do whatever we have to do. I mean, we open up a garage and do it in the back of the garage. I don't care. You're I'm 100% with you. We've got to get the vaccine out needles and arms. That's that should be That shit? That's all our federal government should be talking about right now. Um, you know the conviction of Donald Trump in the Senate, You know, I mean, Just you know, I want to see the guy pay for his crimes on. I think one day he will on Dad. I don't know. I don't know how much you know The Senate trial really deflects. It does deflect attention, But I would hope that President Biden And everything and it is power are working to get these out. I totally agree with you, David. Thank you. So much for your call. Um, so let's do this and animal take a couple calls on the flip side of this. Desk. Peeler is is a columnist for The Washington Post. And he wrote this great piece today about Curt Schilling and why he's not in the Hall of Fame. I don't know anybody that likes Curt Schilling. Death. This is seems a bit. I'm a baseball fan, and I know a lot of baseball fans. Am I the only one here? I mean, what is the deal with this? Is this the kind of guy that just doesn't have any friends? And he's you know, he never. He never will. From now on. I think I think something has some supporters out there. Certainly, you know, as much as certain people on the left might want to think of them as in a partisan viewpoint, I mean, certain people on the right if you want to look at it through that prism. Support him, so I think they're a lot of people would want to see him the whole fame. And there are a lot of people who would want to see in the Hall of Fame just based on his athletic accomplishments. And frankly, there are a lot of people in the baseball Writers Association of America, which both the whole thing who do want to see law fame, because he got 70% of the votes is here when the film you know, just sort of induction, so quite a quite a number of people, including a lot of people who count Want to see him in there. And we saw today that the Baseball Writers Association rejected essentially his request or or at the whole thing to reject his request that he be taken off the ballot next year, So the writers still won't have them a chance to vote on him. So I think that's that's where we are. At this point. He was a jerk for those who don't know we're talking about Curt Schilling. You know the famous 2004 picture that got the Red Sox threw this 75 80 years since 2 1918 drought into the world seriously. And that would eventually one. He's like one of these kind of guys that you know that when he comes out, and he was like saying that people on Capitol Hill deserved the insurrection. I mean, it was just some really bad stuff. It makes me sad. I want to root for the guy. I mean, I rooted hard. Former 2004. I'm like most Americans that I hated the Yankees, you know? And, uh, I just, You know, I look at him and I compare him to Barry Bonds. E don't know Barry bonds but pretty obvious that he juiced. This is kind of about something baseball fans are really into and on a broader scale. It's about how the public views somebody that is is just doesn't seem to be a nice guy. Yeah, well, I think a lot of that conversation about how Schilling is viewed. Quote unquote is coming from him. I mean, particularly in this Facebook close that generate a lot of news today, and certainly we wrote about it. He goes on at length about how You know, he's been done wrong by baseball writers who you know are created this fictitious mischaracterization of him and called him Nazi and races that have been so have wrong to him. And, you know oh, it but it doesn't hurt me so much. But think of my family. My wife is going through chemotherapy, which I don't know that kind of play. That card leaves a bad taste in mouth and and he brought up his son having Asperger's I mean that part, you know, it's kind of icky, but in general, like if you just look at it if you take away all the politics and everything, here's a guy who, as you mentioned had a pretty good career and certainly merits considered strong. Consideration for the whole thing, But he's not a lot, especially if, as Aziz you say, if you take his postseason accomplishments out of it, and I think that's debatable, But that's probably hold a conversation then. Yeah, he's the guy who's kind of borderline. He had a very good career. Never want to see young. You know, made it made some all Star teams. Let's um, team suppose, even success. But you know, he has a good case, but it's not a lock. And as you see, and you see that in the voting, he's come very, very close. I mean, if the baseball writers really had it in for him and wanted to do him wrong, No. Why is he getting 70% of the vote? So you got 71% of the vote this year? You need 75 to get in just to clarify. So out of the 400 voters, 285 voted for him. So I mean, if this is some grand conspiracy to keep my the whole fame, it's awfully well orchestrated by the baseball writers to make it look like they're coming so close but not getting it, You know, So I mean, he's the guy who has a lot of support. He's just he's just coming slightly short. So just for the people that are baseball fans understand there were some kind of borderline benchmarks that people had to get in the past to get in the Hall of Fame. 3000 hits is a is a hitter, 500 home runs. Most pitchers who were looking at 250. Messina had to fight to get in, and he's one of the best pictures eyes I've ever seen Play in my life if they were going to start letting in people who use steroids. I mean, there's everybody from Raphael Palmeiro to Sammy Sosa. Barry Bonds would all get in, and bonds would have got in without steroids. I think most people say that and you know, I don't know him personally, but that does play out. I mean, baseball writers are like anybody else. I've known a few. They have strong feelings, they'll pretend to look just like at the numbers..

"Handel show built off this week and we're gonna do handle on the news Now. Michael Closure in four J. J l and me lead story. I'm only happy when no way got the storm. It's going on. I noticed it last night. I thought maybe a cop was like shining a flashlight. Oh, yeah. When classes with the lightning? Yeah. Then I was like, Oh, yeah, It's called lightning. I haven't seen that in a while. Yeah, I had it in coming from Claremont and that to 10 hidden years Burbank heading west and it was I hit some patchy spots right around Pasadena. When they really started to hit hard porn. I had a couple spots where I felt my wheels lose that connection, because that's the bad news about this storm. The good news about this storm is they're not ex. Acting a tremendous amount of rain. There shouldn't be any big problems with widespread flooding, for example. But the bad news is because there hasn't really been any rain since what November. The roads are covered with crap, and this is bringing all that slippery stuff up, and they're saying it's not gonna be widespread. Like you say it's not gonna be a whole lot of it, and it's not gonna be wide spread. A lot of it is gonna from what I'm able to tell is gonna hang around those foothill areas, right hug in that 1 34 to 10 area, which unfortunately is where we did have some wildfires early this year a couple months ago. "It's after all I very festive shade of green, well more like Teal but you get the idea and it's available at Barnes and Noble Amazon. Every place you can possibly imagine and the book continues to be a bestseller got over four, hundred, five star reviews on Amazon. Thank you for all of you guys who continued Jillian is efforts to support you. Thank you for continuous that continue to sin everyone daily listen to podcast and our book obviously Bestseller Amazon we really do appreciate we it one, hundred percent I don't know how else Julian I could show gratitude towards all of you more than continue to podcast every single day we do it because we know we're helping you we get the e mails we get the tax you know all the you know all that stuff matters because it tells me that Giulinai are on mission. We are on target you know down range we're doing what we're supposed to be doing all of you and that makes me feel fantastic. It really does. In life everyone wants basically three things right? They want and this is not the normal order of things but they want something to do that base. That's a value, right? So they wanted to do something for a living for job that. Is a purpose, right? That's purposeful. They want somebody to love. That's the second thing everyone wants and the third thing that they want is they want something to look forward to and the essence of what drives every man woman are really those three things and so those are the things that are gonNA drive you as well. So consider when you're you know plotting and planning for your future for twenty twenty one, you start thinking in terms of a better version of yourself not just A. Slightly, upgraded version of yourself but maybe twenty twenty one is the year that you finally decide that you're going to absolutely kick the complacent version of yourself asked you're not willing to accept just having financial security for thirty or sixty days. You're gonNA look for something. That's truly exceptional. That makes it. So every morning when you wake up, you know you're being purpose well, you know you're doing something that's going to help other people that is really the driver. Is going to take you down the road. The furthest is when you're absolutely able to help other people accomplish their goals. So some people say and we don't agree vol you're passionate. The money will follow. That's not true. That's a lie. And Ninety, nine percent of time. But here is what true is true if your if your purpose is to be of service to other people and that ultimately is one of the core drivers in your heart. Then, truly guys that is a financial printing press because if you are in alignment with your highest and truest purpose which is being of service other people, then you will have to always be improving your skills and you will find the the gimmicks repugnant like we do. "How you see yourself starts to pivot versus if you waste hours in years and decades. Goofy ideas and then you're basically you're grinding yourself down every single day because you're saying to yourself I know this gimmicky idea is going to work one day if I just stay with it maybe, and then what happens is your mind starts playing tricks on you. Then you start telling yourself maybe you're not good enough in some way maybe you're not disturbing enough maybe you're not good looking enough or smart enough or whatever. Enough. Right. So when you are on the wrong path, what happens is it your ego? Doesn't want you to admit that you're on the wrong path. Your Ego then starts to basically tell you that you're on the right path. You're just the wrong person and then you don't come back from that. That's the reason that Julian I are absolutely. So angered frankly in many cases by the ridiculousness that's allowed to basically exist inside the should be a places where agents are coming to learn how to help people and make money. So guys listened most of the things that you're going to be told what? To do in your business there, one hundred percent gimmicks they were put together by people that never sold state never sold real estate at a high level, and even if they did crank out allow transactions in some cases GIMMICKS DO TRANSAT, do result in lots of transactions that does not mean they had any net profit they spent all of their money to basically do the transactions one one. Pocket to the next. That is almost always what you see those two scenarios and guys. I know this from having you know coach agents forever and looked at a lot of profit and loss statements, and you'll hear these people it's fascinating to me, and I wish honestly I wish you guys I, Hope your inner skeptic is listening room saying you can go and talk to a top producing. Agent somebody who's got a big team who's got lots of this is the things. Everyone thinks they you know they're the greatest thing since sliced bread and then when you start talking with them and I'm not gonNA mention any names right. But US then start know quickly discovering that they have no money in other words they've been doing lots of transactions they've been doing lots of volume lots. Of attention maybe they've been on the cover of every website magazine that there is everyone thinks to the greatest thing ever but they have no personal net worth they spend it. All just do the transactions and just to be just to be famous and Jillian I talked about this on our show and our book all the time because at the end of the day the future version of you. You know here's she's going to look back and that version of you is to say, why didn't you just simply suck it up buttercup and do what you didn't want to do when you do at the highest level. Thank how much further you would be you know down the road now this is a future version of you talking to the past version of you. That's ultimately what Julie are all about. We are going to do our best to rattle your cage as much as you allow us. So the future version of you is looking back at the current version of you and saying, Hey, hey, bob good job. You know. Bob Pick up that phone and doing some of these things that these crazy harasses telling you do. Yeah..

"States and most of the world just text the word survival two, three, one, nine, nine, six, two, Jillion are going to pick up tomorrow we left off today I hope what your understanding primarily focused on here is if you're going to be an agent who's going to just do the. Very minimum you're GONNA get nothing it was in a seller's market maybe the market two or three years ago they just by basically you know being friendly and senators of influencing and past client in everyone and dropping Pumpkin pies, you might be able to peel the transaction here and there. But in this new market, it's not going to be like that expand your thinking expand what you think that you're capable of the services you're able to provide your clients maybe expand your market maybe you're in a market that's not going to be it'll still sell, but it's not GonNa be where you WANNA be in. Essentially, what this new real estate accounts is evolving into pay attention to people that elevate you be incredibly careful who you take advice from. That's again something we tell I always a little bit. Saying that because I know that the skeptics out there are thinking of being self serving saying that, and of course, I am great. But the reality of it is is that all of us have made mistakes of listening to you read a book that inspires you or you listen to people that inspire you but they're inspiring you for their own interest not for what's Best For you because especially when you're just getting started in business and you're getting started in life, you know in your learning something new, you're susceptible to receiving and trying to integrate bad information into what your business plan is. So you got you have to be incredibly careful who you listen to incredibly careful where you spend your time because you can't get it back and let's Set that aside for a second, the real harm that comes from following these fake ideas and these wannabe coaches the real harm comes in that you act you degrade your own confidence in your own ability to actually accomplish anything..

"Furiously fast lead follow up and pre-qualifying any buyer that shows up on your radar assume unless proven otherwise they have the house to sell you're not asking the right questions in the right order and getting the right information out of them while you guys don't have a script, you have this little crazy system where you try to fake friend them and then maybe in the conversation you'll weasel out of them whether have a house to sell it just very unprofessional even get that far a Lotta Times because they're already up to their eyeballs and buyers that they can't find anything for. So why would they want to return another buyer call? You don't even know if there's a listing on the other end stop thinking of buyer causes buyers start thinking them as hidden sellers. That's the way to think about it are usually one more. One more because here's something that they'll all try to argue about for sale by owners they're Ernie, that's a hot sellers market I never seen any his bows. Okay. A physical right on the street you guys just don't know where they are because you're so addicted to the MLS, right you can go to Zillow for free use their drop down there Kinda SORTA use craigslist you you know other there's lots of ways to find their systems that basically you subscribe to and they basically send you all the new expires in the for sale by owners every single day but look. The moral of the story is, are you actually going to do the work if we gave you a list enjoy around? The. fizz buzz because most agents don't call for sale by owners, you're less likely to compete rates..

"They know what deal is falling apart to, and that's perfect for people whose houses you just sold relocating executives. You know that's an unintended spec home, but you can slide somebody right in there. It's probably Not An MLS, you're not gonNA have to compete. So top of my list is new construction. Now, you might not find it might not be in the right price range. So we have to do the rest of the list, and again, this is part of premise number two. Okay. So number two I think would be if we're talking short term housing, right so there's two conversations here. One is what to do with your sellers and the other one is a great resource for listening to pick up listings kind of related you can use your sellers as the excuse to be prospecting. My second one would probably be old expired and older expired who tried to get their price a year ago eighteen months ago you probably can get it for him. Now that's if you're looking for something to buy. Okay. So I would do old expired withdrawn temporarily off the market what happened with those sellers listing or temporary rental? Continue this theme is called the. Actually called the local for rent by owners. Now, obviously, a lot of properties that are rent that are offered to rent long-term. We're going to do with brokers we're not going to be very cooperative with you to. Purchase one of their inventory rental properties and remove the revenue. But if you go to the RB listings and all your markets are GonNa have this you're gonNA see a lot of these are managed directly by the owners, and if you were to call the owners up and ask if they'd be interested in doing term rentals, they're all going to say, yes, right wasn't They what phone numbers are easy to find? Yeah, and they're very responsive. They'll call you back you know and you could also ask them they'd be willing to sell and you'll find nine percent of the time that a lot of the properties that are in these vacation markets, which I'm surprised the of Vr be os that are just in the middle of nowhere USA. But you can find properties like that..

"Now, most of the time it has been because the buyer's agents are frustrated I. Now, I'm seeing a whole new wave of listing agents being frustrated why? Because they have just made their seller homeless or they are about to make their seller homeless or they not even getting that seller in the first place because that potential seller saying I would move but I don't WanNa do a double move I don't live in an apartment. I don't WanNa move in with family. There's nothing for me to buy and so when you hear that and you came to it and you go yeah inventories really low no listing. For you and I think that that actually is contributing to our lack of inventory is agents in ability to be creative about where to put their wayward sellers with our rentals and Columbus I get calls all the time you know from Agent Friends of ours that say you know what I just saw the sellers house they're building and it's not going to be done for four months. Will you do a short term lease? I love those because we charge a little bit more for sure short term lease and we're helping somebody out it's fine but that's just one tiny example of how to find inventory for people to move to. Well, I mean. The listing agent is my point. So we have let's share with them. The list of places to find off essentially we're I went. Off Market, where's where's the hidden? Well, so first of all, we have to accept the fact that there is hidden inventory. You just have to find it. That's point number one we'll start with mindset points. Okay. So my favorite Goto solution I think you'll agree with this is new construction point you don't have to compete right you can time things out you're watching the house go you've got. To flavors of that, you've got a SPEC home. There's not a lot of that right now because inventories low, but there are some well, let's use Murphy North Carolina's example, and we and I bought a cabin in the mountains and loving the fact that so many of you guys that are attached to that part of the country emailing and connecting with us. And yes we're GONNA have a wonderful little cabin in the mountains we're looking forward to it. But when you look in the unless there was nothing for sale, we didn't even bother calling buyer's agents I mean, why would you do that? So we look for basically listing agents that had multiple listings, but even in those cases, they didn't have a lot coming for sale. So we obviously followed our own. Advice, and then we started looking for builders. Now, there was no organized in Murphy North, Carolina website to go to where you can find all the builder SPEC homes for sale in some markets you do have that. So we ended up connecting directly with the new builders who we were seeing advertising that they were building cabins and whatnot, and virtually all of them had houses that were under construction, Jennifer. None of us, none of it was listed with agents you had to call the builders directly which we ended up buying a resale, but that's how the. WAS ON. Market let's US markets. That's microscopic marker Mayo, and it's one of those markets I think truthfully, that's going to be an emerging not micro Mart Kenney more because you have a lot of people that are going to start wanting to move further two hours from Atlanta but it's A millisecond from the world because their Internet connection and by the way the Elon Musk. "Appreciation and they kind of act the same but appreciation in it's truest sense is when something you have, let's say for example, your house again goes up in value but everything else that you normally buy from milk and cars and clothes and college tuitions and gasoline they don't go up and cost. So your house you know of basically inflates or your house appreciates and you do have the sense of. Being Wealthier at least in the sense of your house is worth more right and the hypothetical spending power of that money. If you were to pull that money out through selling the house or you know borrowing against the house would still give you an advantage in the marketplace because everything else wouldn't have inflated at the same time as the House did well in inflationary times which we're experiencing now everything. is going to go up and cost. So your house will go up and cost. Yes but so we'll everything else that you have to buy. So you won't really feel that that at that of having the asset in this case, the house having increased in value. So you won't really get the benefit of it in additional spending power and where the rubber meets the road all this as if the inflation. Rate rises so quickly and it outpaces people's incomes and fortunately you guys in the real estate business don't have to really worry about this because your income goes up as the inflation as the cost of the real estate goes up because you are tied to the result of what the in sale prices. So you're commissioned obviously will increase along with the sale price caught a blessing from the real estate God's by. You guys understand what Tim saying is that you know that's your head. That's the only hedge is that your commission's going to kind of protect you from a little bit of that. But of course, even with those commission dollars, the amount of them that it takes to buy anything we'll also be right. Exactly. So if you're. A schoolteacher or really anybody who on a fixed income they're the ones that are going to suffer if inflation rate really gets out of hand because they're going to be in situations where they're not going to be able to Ford houses, they're not going to be of Ford the normal meat and potatoes type things in life because their incomes won't have increased all the while all the things that they need to buy one by. Frankly wealth increase. That's when you start having really horrible problem and the economy and also socially, and if you WANNA go back and again I didn't we promise we weren't going to get on this. But if you want to go back to when there the times greatest social unrest in sort of record history almost always because of some sort of financial pandemic, right which is what I'm describing. So if there's a bout of really If it goes up to six seven eight percent inflation rate. You'RE GONNA see a lot of people having legitimate fear and panic, and the flip side to that is.

"Market. Or. Hosts Tim and Julie Hairs. Three to what and we're back. It is October the twenty eighth Julie. Welcome to the PODCAST. Thank it's been an adventure already today. Yes, it has. So we are Jillian are fresh off a Lotta coaching calls and we always liked the podcast right after we've had a bachelor coaching calls because we are our minds completely forward deployed and we are one hundred percent focused on. Its agents all over the country that we are blessed to speak with on a regular basis keeping on top of what's going on in the market, and I'll summarize three points from all my coaching calls. Lack of inventory obviously a lot of people especially in the upper end are. Waiting till after the election for no particular reason no particular reason. But might as well throw that objection out there unfortunately, and hopefully that's going to be a short path and I'll tell you the other thing. I had several interesting phone calls again with people that are selling really what of our personal coaching clients at this point? So the essentially the highest agents in the country and the conversations I'm having with them are that they're seeing the properties that were hard to sell last year selling like hotcakes in these in a lot of cases guys are multi million dollar state type things, and they're also seeing a new batch of investor buyer you know people that are coming into. The markets that are purchasing properties as hedges against inflation or essentially not hedge against necessarilly, but banking on it. So with a lot of these you upper end buyers are doing is they're purchasing assets and getting out of cash, and I this is Tim baser diversifying simplest way of saying it. They're looking for places to put their money in anticipation of inflation starting to rear its ugly head, which frankly already has and we talk about this a lot in this podcast and just to summarize briefly as I possibly can even join Iowa Geek out about this stuff is you have inflation and deflation..

"Join the conversation at 80 88 10 now Chip Franklin, a Geo 10. Hide, you know, talking to professionals and after listening to what Robert Redfield is going through with Trump Just a recap. Eso Trump came out and said that we're going to have AH, vaccine in October, Bradfield said before the Senate. No or not, Trump came out and said he's wrong. Brett failed, came out and said What I said to the Senate really probably was inaccurate. But then Redfield and then Trump said C and then read. Phil came out again just a few minutes ago and said, no, I go. I stand with my other statement. That's going to be sometime the middle toe for maybe third quarter of next year. Bottom line is is this should not be political. Ah, Ammunition for Trump to try to use were all in the same deal here if the president needs a vaccine to threatens people's lives to save his presidency. Then there's something wrong there. Joining us right now is Bob walked her MD professor and chair department of Medicine at UCSF on as well as Markland. Benny often doubt share On nice enough to join us here on KGO Doc. First of all, let's just talk a little bit about. You know these contradictory statements if we can Way have to play this with science, right? I mean science. Is that the path to follow here the politics of this or what they are, But science is even more basic than that, right? Oh, this is Chip is praising the science. We're making great progress in vaccines and ah, and it's looking pretty good. It looks like we're certainly more likely than not to have a vaccine that's proven to be effective and safe in the next several months. And if we do then will we should be able to start distributing it in 2021. We may get out of this mess. But the worst thing that could happen is tohave. Ah, being meddled with ah through a political lens, And it's the worst thing because people lose trust. And because the vaccine is only gonna work if people believe the science and then they all take it and If it's not clear whether it's being promoted and being approved because Trump is Is bending people's arms to do that, which it looks like he's doing now with Redfield and then ended with Steve on the FDA director. Then people will be quite logically sceptical about it, and that will screw the whole thing up. Me. I was amazing to see Scientific American Go against 175 years of history and endorse Ah, President, they've realized what's on the line here. I want to talk about your thread on Twitter is really, really interesting. You did? Ah, multi. Ah, tweet thread. Of your visit to your parents, and that's that's good for you. I mean, I have told everybody Mama died July and I really wish I could have visitors. She was 98 a half and but but I talked to her everyday for you know, sometimes as long as an hour and you know, it's the second best thing. Um, but this this trip this this sojourn thatyou made had all of the the The tangential is that would go with this. The introspection of where we are How people treat Cove it, you know, how do we see our friends? How do we maneuver our way through this? I had a psychologist on in the last hour trying to go through the mental part of this, but this part's really real important. It's It's not brain surgery at this point, right for the average American, you distance and you wear a mask. Well, yes, but in a way, it's it's harder than brain surgery. Because there is this existential dread that that if I make one mistake, I may get the disease and die of it. And that was, you know, completely understandable. In March and April, when we didn't know what was going on that we didn't know how to protect ourselves. We're now in a stage six months into it where we know a lot more about how the virus is transmitted. We've done a whole lot of things to make people safer. We know that mask. Work. We know that distancing works on and we're in this. I don't care what Trump says. We're going to be in this for the next 6 to 9 months of the minimum, meaning that we will not have a game changing medication or a game changing vaccine. And so we have to figure out howto he negotiate a life with this virus while while not being in complete lock down, but also being smart and saying that doing the right thing and so you know, I've been tweeting about This whole thing since it started, And I thought it would be maybe useful to people to go through the numbers on how I think about whether to take a flight and how I think about whether it is in my 1984 year old parents in Florida and my father has a terrible disease, and it is very unlikely to be alive 6 to 9 months when maybe there's an effective vaccine. And so I kind of walked people through it, and then I finally did all of it And I'm I'm not. I'm not looking to get co but I very much want not to. I decided that the benefits of coming to visit them outweigh the risks and the risks are quite small or no, although not zero, and that's true of the flight, and it's true of of being here, so I hope it's helpful to people if they begin to think through those kinds of things. Himself because we're not when I like it a little bit of dieting and exercise. You know, the what we were doing in March was like the crashed I, You know, you cannot. You cannot leave the house. But now I think we're in a position where we have to figure out a sustainable way to live with this thing and to make smart and reasonable and evidence based, scientifically tort oven choices and for some people, particularly if you're older and particularly vulnerable. Those choices may very well be, you know, really not going out of the house. Much, but I think for the rest of us, it may be that if you're wearing a mask and being careful and being thoughtful, you could do a little bit more than you might have done in March and April because you have to weigh you know where we have to live our lives. You have to weigh the benefits of these things against small but real risk. Dr Walker with Sharon KGO. I remember the early days of HIV. Although these air very different viruses, there was a lot of denial. People forget that HIV was first called Grid, gay related immune deficiency. And that's what Ah, the Reagan administration and many of the officials there hope to stay. A zit changed and it began to infect people. There was a lot of fear. Remember people burning down piece houses in Florida who are HIV positive? It took us almost a decade to come up with this cocktail that you know, and we've been. We made great strides. That's 10 years. You know, this is obviously different. You know, it's a krone virus to NA tickets has got a lot of the You know, we've dealt with it before with, you know, with stars, But, you know, I get the sense that Ah, because our culture is so used to quick fixes and I can't see it..
