Plan Ahead (MM #4632)
"I'd like to consider myself a person who plans ahead for any circumstance, for any emergency, for any situation. But every now and again, the plans go astray. It happens whenever we travel back to Indiana to see family. You're always running at the last minute and you always forget something. The one thing I didn't plan ahead for this time, making sure to take some echinacea, some extra vitamin C, some extra vitamins, and some precautions so I didn't catch a cold. The one thing I always run into when I go to Indiana is you have most of the parents are educators. So they're dealing with kids and parents and lots of people every day. The kids, aging from 6 to 16, they're interacting with lots of kids and germs and well, it caught up with me. Yeah, I started feeling sick almost by the time I got there on Wednesday night. On Thanksgiving Day, I took three naps to the tune of about nine hours. By Friday, full -blown cold. Saturday feeling worse. Didn't go anywhere. Didn't do anything. You can kind of tell in the voice it's not feeling quite right. It's just a cold. But I have to remember, plan ahead. When going to see the kids, make sure I'm prepared for the germs because there are going to be a lot of them.

The Dan Bongino Show
Aunt Retells the Tragic Story of J6 Defendant Matthew Perna
"Rest of your holiday weekend and please enjoy the show. Well if you listen to my show before I don't know if you just tuned in or when you tuned in but I was telling a story about these new January 6 videos which now clearly tell an entirely different side of the story I said a lot of stuff happened on that day we've talked about it candidly fairly on this show for a very long time what bothers me is the left was looking to hide an entirely different side of what happened that day not us it was them doing because they don't want you to see the entire story they want you to see what just died and one of the stories is about a really tragic case of a gentleman named Matthew Perna and here to discuss that is a good friend and a real warrior his aunt Jerry thanks a lot for taking the time we really appreciate you coming on today thank you for having me on well we met through police tapes this movie we did and I remember seeing you on the Dinesh had sent me kind of a screener rough cut of the movie and I'm watching you talk about Matthew and what happened to Matthew and my wife I looked over and she couldn't take it neither could I it was such a horrible story if you could tell the audience what happened with Matthew let's and yeah just just tell them what happened your your version of it is really kind of tough to listen to but everyone needs to hear it well Matt went to the Capitol on January 6th he thought going he to was be part of a celebration that day the crowd was big and he got you know into the crowd and it was announced that Mike Pence had certified the election results it wasn't exactly what what he had planned and as the crowd moved forward they went to the Capitol and he was in a huge crowd of people people and he did go in he went inside a door that had been previously opened he walked around inside the building filming from his phone and he walked out he went back to his hotel he made a live Facebook video talking about the day the video is still visible on our website he was very calm and cool just talking about the day and he he made a comment that he said Mike Pence proved himself to be a traitor today and he said but don't worry don't worry this isn't over yet and that was basically the way he said it and about a week or so later I'm sitting on my couch in Florida maps up in Pennsylvania and I saw a post Facebook that said the FBI had posted pictures of people from January 6 so I clicked on the link and I was scrolling through the photos and lo and behold there's Matt's picture and I was speechless I didn't know what to do so I called one of my brothers up in Pennsylvania and I said you need to go to Matt's house first thing in the morning his picture is on the FBI website so six o 'clock in the morning warning my brother shows up at Matt's house and Matt already knew that his picture was there and he and he had contacted a retired police officer and asked him what he should do he told him to call the local office saw the FBI in Newcastle Pennsylvania so at nine o 'clock in the morning that's exactly what Matt did and Matt seriously thought this was all a huge misunderstanding he just needed to explain that he didn't hurt anybody he didn't break anything and he thought this would be resolved and so the FBI came out to talk to him and I had a couple of my brothers there present as witnesses and they listened to Matt's story and they made it seem like yeah I was just a misunderstanding and they left and Matt called me and I said you know I don't like the sound of this I said I'm coming home so I a got on plane and I flew home that week and I said we need to get you a lawyer and we did we got him a lo lawyer and and behold the FBI showed up and arrested Matt that week while I was there and they took him in and they processed him and they may let him go he was not placed in custody he was told he had to report to somebody if he were to leave the was charged with four misdemeanors the regular ones the rating disorderly and conduct and we met with his attorney his attorney said oh this is nothing this is just a slap on the wrist you've never been arrested for anything before don't worry about it I've got this well then they slapped 220 of the J sixers with the felony charge of obstruction of an official proceeding and that's when it got serious but his attorney was still saying don't worry this is this is nothing so somebody sent me video that they had of matt outside of the capitol at 2 55 in the afternoon and I says well that's almost 45 minutes after congress adjourned you hadn't even gone inside yet he said no so I thought well there's your evidence right there it's right there on video you didn't go inside you didn't obstruct anything so I sent it to his attorney and his attorney said it nope doesn't matter they said he was there so it was an obstruction and and that video isn't going to help so this was a start of a nightmare a nightmare watching matt worry and deteriorate because the newspaper facebook social media everybody was brutal they were showing the video from january six that everybody has seen countless times and calling it an insurrection and matt's community turned against him his business which he ran through social media was taken away from him all of the accounts were he disabled and didn't want to leave his house anymore and he would have meetings with his attorney that were you would have to go into the attorney's office and they would meet with the judge via zoom because of the whole covid mess and they would cancel those meetings at the very last minute every and postpone them and it would just wear on him because he would prepare himself mentally what he was going to say and they would say up it's been canceled and this went on for quite some time and um that was deteriorating something awful he no longer ran he was a runner he gave away his television because he couldn't stand to see the news anymore with his picture on his dad was who is my oldest brother has parkinson's disease and it was affecting him something awful and matt felt very guilty about the effect it had on his dad and as the year was coming to a close it was almost christmas matt had lost a ton of wait he was vomiting blood at this point and he told his attorney just i just need this to be over what's the best way for this to be over his attorney said plead guilty you're looking at six to twelve months in a federal prison camp minimum security and matt says okay what then i'll that's do and matt was going to he told me i'll turn it into a positive he said i'll teach my fellow inmates help them get their geds i'll work on another degree for myself at the time matt was very intelligent and very giving so that was settled and the hearing was scheduled for march the third and a week before the hearing matt called his attorney and he said i just have a bad feeling it's just a counseling came over me so that's the day my mother died march the third his attorney says well matt i have bad case they've postponed your your hearing again to april fool's day and the prosecution is looking to add a sentencing enhancement of terrorism and this could have taken matt's sentence to nine years in jail matt called me on the phone sobbing that day uncontrollably sobbing sobbing i could not hardly understand him he kept telling me he he loved me kept apologizing to me for losing all of my friends because i lost every friend i almost almost everyone i ever had over this and i told him don't worry we're going to get through this together don't worry god's not going to let you go to jail i promise you this and he told me he loved me i told him i loved

"Will be in the 40s and 50s this afternoon. That's the nation's weather. I'm AccuWeather dot com meteorologist Carol Wavinski. I'm John Trout it's 23 till America in morning the continues Israel and Hamas agree to extend the truce for two more days the terrorist group reportedly to release two women with dual Israeli and American citizenship the US says not all of the 240 hostages taken from Israel are being held by Hamas with as many as 50 in the possession of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and other terror groups based in Gaza correspondent Julie Walker reports with every single day this and is the part of this hostage deal that probably doesn't get as much attention as it deserves it has allowed for a surge of humanitarian assistance in to Gaza the announcement made by the Qatari government in a post on X brings the prospect of a longer halt to their deadliest and most destructive war and further exchanges of militant led hostages for Palestinians imprisoned by Israel we'd certainly like to see even that extension extended further until all the hostages are released that's really the goal here get all the hostages home with their families where they belong and We you know However long that could take three prisoner swaps have taken place under that original deal including one involving a four -year -old Israeli American girl while a fourth exchange is also part of it Israel has said it would extend the ceasefire by one day for every ten additional hostages released but also said it remains committed to crushing Hamas's military capabilities and ending its 16 year old rule over Gaza after its October 7th attack into southern Israel This is a calculated risk that Prime Minister Netanyahu and his War Cabinet are willing to take in order to get those hostages out so it's a it's a balance and as you've also heard the Israelis say that once the pauses are over they intend to go right back at military operations I'm Julie Walker. 21 till now as freed hostages return to Israel, details of their captivity have emerged. Meanwhile representatives of European and Arab countries are meeting in Barcelona to discuss the crisis in Gaza and at least one more hostage swap is planned. Correspondent Karen Hamas has more Middle East developments. Emotions were high as released hostages Sharon Avigdorri and her 12 year old daughter Noam Avigdorri reunited with their family after weeks in captivity. Information about the conditions of captivity of the 58 hostages has been tightly controlled but family members of the released hostages have begun to share details about their loved ones experiences. Merev Raviv whose three relatives were released said had they been fed irregularly and had eaten mainly rice and bread and had slept on rows of chairs pushed together in a room that looks like a reception area. In the 50 days since the hostages were taken captive Israel has devastated the Gaza Strip with a ground and air offensive that has killed at least 13 300 Palestinians. According to the Hamas run health ministry at least 1200 people were killed in a deadly Hamas attack on southern Israel on October the 7th. But we're working for is for disposed to develop into immediately to develop into a permanent ceasefire. Inherent to the agreement that allowed for this humanitarian pose is an agreement that would extend it should more civilians be released. We support this. We have clearly supported that civilians be released. But again you cannot have the whole people of Gaza hostage. 42 delegations gathered at the event hosted by the Union for the Mediterranean with many represented by their foreign ministers. Jordan's Foreign Minister Aiman Safadi said. Us being here is an extremely important message that we will continue to work to stop this catastrophe. Stop this war and put all our region on a path towards the just and lasting and comprehensive peace that our one neighborhood deserves and has been working for. The European Union's foreign policy chief Joseph Borrell said he wants the focus of the gathering to be on how to manage the humanitarian crisis in Gaza hostilities finally stop. I'm Karen Chamas with Congress back in session funding Israel and Ukraine's war efforts are on the front burner, but there are disagreements both within the the parties and across the aisle on how to get it done. John Stolness has that from Washington. While country. While the country was focused on avoiding a government shutdown and the Republican speakership battle, the White House's $106 $6 billion supplemental funding request for Israel, Ukraine, Taiwan and the Mexico border remained campaign unfunded, the White House wants the funding tied together. But Republicans, especially in the House, looking are to separate funding for Israel and Ukraine specifically. House Speaker Mike Johnson making clear he expects to get something done on Israel. Israel is a top priority for the United States, and supporting our ally why there is critical. It's one of the first things we did. In fact, we passed the bipartisan Israel support package out out of the house a while ago, right? Not not long after I took the gavel about a month ago. It's been sitting on this in the Senate and on Chuck Schumer's desk and so we are

Nasir Acikgoz's Advice to the Next Generation: "Everything Is Achievable"
"For you being someone that touches so much that is powerful at the end of the day that can make things happen You've overcome so much being a immigrant with a dream and a vision not knowing whether you would be where you are here today You know doing what you're doing today and just going after it becoming fearless conquering so much You know having God guide you and on this path knowing that things happen for a reason Even if it might not be the way you wanted it to be it happened for a reason just like in finance I don't want to take this course But now you do you know what a P &L is and you can look at it and see if you guys are losing or winning What do you see for the future of the green industry and you know the youth when it comes to just you know? Your path and your career and what you've been able to do and how you're still gonna be able to do more What do you see for the green industry and the youth? What would you have to say to them youth like their new? Younger generations or even people that are that are sitting on the sidelines of going after something that they think is unachievable Everything is that you will you put in your mind Watch once you set your mind to it you work again You know, first of all, you got to believe in God God gives you a talent. I give God sees everybody talents You got to find it And you put something in your mind you work you wake up in the morning you dedicate yourself Into it work hard, but well, you gotta work hard because some people say I'm doing this and I'm working but it's not happening Then that means you didn't work, you know, you didn't work or it's not what you're supposed to be. They're supposed to me And it'll happen in in the green industry and the youth what I would say is You have an idea Try it say look. You know what? I want to Do it in your mind, obviously you have to do it and you have to draw, you know draw what how you want to do it get the first prototype or or first production depending on the products and in like I said in you know, you know beginning of the pop kit a podcast that it's The opportunities are limitless. There's no limit. So it's gonna happen. Believe me it If it's a product you put it out there With the right time right person right platform people will see it and they're gonna start buying it Or a service again. It doesn't have to be a product. It could be a service and And they're gonna start using it. So Again, the green industry. I love it You know, like I said, I start as a hobby, you know a side business, you know for one of my tile businesses but it became a an addiction to me and and And it's it's a you know, I'm like, I'm like, you know what? It's a good business. It's a huge business And there's no limit. There's no I would say oh you can't there's no you can't do this in this business. You can do anything you know with plants with rocks with Synthetic turf now, you know everything with everything who would have thought we're gonna have synthetic turf back there Maybe would have left a huge movement I don't I don't know what that that industry is now, but it's gotta be over a billion dollar industry at this point It's billions of dollars right now Yes And in other states actually they're building like coffee shops kind of thing like you go there some brand names that came out you go You know, the products are out there. It's like a boutique you pick the product you have your drink Yeah, the coffee or whatnot. You're like talking to the people and at the same time you're purchasing it. It's So people came out with the idea and they they didn't think it's not gonna work out and it worked out for them Maybe it took a while to adapt to that, you know product into the industry or the service But if you think it's gonna work and you did your research, right? It's gonna work and it's gonna happen So never say never never say I can't do it Never say this is not gonna sell never say people will not call me for this service People will not call me for this product if you believe in yourself believe in the product Obviously first you got to believe in God, you know, it's gonna all all happen even even if you guys are going to school right now and you're like man the Industry that I picked, you know people in my in my niche of what I'm gonna go study They only make sixty thousand dollars a year. That doesn't matter. That means that they make sixty thousand dollars exactly There's you know you can you can Get in that same Ballpark and blow it up and become something so much more do something impactful that can touch the whole industry and this industry Did thirty six point four billion dollars the plant industry for the state of Florida last year alone for 2023 It was the strongest year. Well, no 2022 was the strongest year Out of all the years, but the fact that it was done and that's just in plant sales 6 .4. Yeah billion dollars for Florida imagine only

InTouch - Think STEAM Careers, Podcast with Dr. Olufade
Endrow Metelus Uses Graphic Tees to Showcase the Beauty of Inner Cities
"So you mentioned that your graphic tees captures the beauty of the inner city. So how do you design your clothing to convey this message while also supporting STEM initiative or STEM education? So when it comes to showing the beauty of the inner city, to me, what that means is, I guess it's something that has to do with me. It's the vision that I see. Okay. What I deem beauty. Because as I said earlier, if you turn on the 6 o 'clock news, just in general, you look at the history, especially in America, we, especially the black male itself, just black people in general, it's never, we're never seen in a good light. It's always been, even when you say something black, it's never seen. Unless it's a car or something. Or the gala or whatever. It's never seen in a positive way. And the thing is these kids that I want to have, who's going to be the next, I don't know, cybersecurity personnel or whatever in STEM related. I want them to be represented, to see themselves, to see the beauty within themselves, to see the beauty where they stay, where they live. Okay. I want them to tell you, Hey, you're beautiful. And at the same time, give them that confidence. Hey, you can also transition to STEM. That confidence. Hey, I'm beautiful. Right? There's a beauty where I live. It's not what the TV says. Yeah, there's struggle, there's things we can do better, but the people within are beautiful. Right? Have that confidence when it comes to, Hey, you can be a cybersecurity, you can be an engineer. You can be all this because you already have that beauty within you. You won't have no doubts to go ahead and pursue it. So it's all connected is to build that confidence at the same time.

Mexico Rejects Texas' Proposal to Let Police Deport Illegals
"To the Dan Bongino show filling in for Dan. Here's Vince colonies. Yes, indeed. I'm Vince colonies normally heard on WMAL in Washington, D. C. I will be heard there coming up at 3 to 6 p .m. Eastern. So grateful to be filling in for Dan today as he signs a bunch of books in Texas for his best selling new New book. And again, you can join us today at 844 -484 -3872 844 for USA. the Always great for grateful for your contributions. When I fill in for Dan, we've got a story for you from our border. southern Remember that? We used to have one of those. The Texas Tribune has a got a piece this week. Mexico rejects Texas's proposal to allow state police case to deport undocumented immigrants. Boy, even the headline needs to be untangled. Undocumented immigrants. That's a lie. Let's talk about language in the last hour, the way the left manipulates it. Undocumented immigrants. Really? Because what I'm seeing a lot of is stolen social security numbers and fake paperwork and even people come into the United States illegally, then walk up to Border Patrol agents and then they're given some sort of documents that demonstrate that we're aware they're here. So they're not undocumented. They're actually documented. So that's already a lie. It's generous to say that they're immigrants because that in a sense justifies coming into the United States. What's really going on is they're illegal aliens by every traditional definition of the word and also that's what appears in our statutes. The laws themselves say illegal aliens. But Mexico is rejecting a Texas proposal to allow state police to deport illegals. What do you mean rejecting it? So Mexico us allows to, if the federal government wants to do it, on the very rare occasion that it does nowadays. That's fine, but if Texas wants to do it, Mexico is rejecting it? What's the difference to them? Well, the difference is obvious. Our federal government is not doing it. And any attempt by any American entity to actually put illegals in trebuchets and throw them back across the street, they're going to reject. They're against. No, no, no, no. Don't send them to us. We don't want them. We opened up our country. It's so they would come to you. Mexico does not police its own southern border. It used to. Trump When was in office, Trump forced them to. He actually threatened a trade war unless they got control of the thing. Okay, fine, fine, fine. They got control of their southern border, and they slowed down all of the

Tech Path Crypto
A highlight from Avalanche Skyrockets Gaming Bull Run Begins
"All right, today we're going to dive into some blockchain game wars that I think you guys are going to want to listen to. We're going to be breaking down a lot of projects and also giving you some insights as to where maybe some of these game companies are going to be going. It's going to be a good one. My name is Paul Baron. Welcome back to the Tech Path. All right, let's get started. I do want to thank our sponsor today, and that is Tangem. If you are looking at a self -custody wallet, which you probably are, maybe jumping into crypto for your first time and you're thinking, I want to park some of my crypto off of exchanges. This is one of the tools that you can do it. All you have to go and do is go over to tangem .com. You can jump right into one of their cards. One of the things you're going to like here is the flexibility of both the card and the app versus using a hardware wallet. You know what I'm talking about. It's very simple. You get a three -card set, keep one with you, park the other two, hide them up, and then use it anytime you need to do a transaction right there on your phone, both iOS and Android. Make sure and check it out. You get an initial discount by just using our code, so we'll leave one down below. Make sure and check it out. It helps out. Now, I know everybody was kind of dogging us a little bit about my statement last week, a reference to the situation around Alluvium and them being on Avalanche. I just want to kind of clarify, there's a lot of research that comes, of course, across our desk here, and some of it is through things that we just are constantly perusing. One of the things that really kind of caught our eye was what was happening over on BeamHub. And BeamHub right here, as you can see, and our team tells me that this used to say coming soon, even though it says popular Alluvium Arena. And so the theory is that maybe there's going to be some action here of Alluvium on Avalanche at some time. So that's just, I just want to get that out there, kind of get it away because I know everybody was kind of freaking out about that earlier. I want to get into a couple of tweets. We'll kind of start right here, Coinbase Exchange, adding support for Solana and Avalanche Perpetual Futures. This course is in the international exchange. Now why is this? It's very simple. Both Solana and Avix, very active in the gaming ecosystem and the likelihood of moving and seeing a lot of growth, I think, in the coming months and years for blockchain gaming and Web3. Overall, this is a good move by Coinbase for sure, and I think eventually we may see some stuff like that here in the US, but right now we've got to deal with what we've got to deal with. And of course, that's just getting Coinbase past their lawsuit with the SEC. If you have not checked out our full playlist on Avalanche, go check it out. It's going to give you a full rundown of a lot of the projects, some of the games, some of the SocialFi experiences, all sorts of things that we've covered over the months and years with the Avalanche team, many of their devs, all that, executives, et cetera. Check it out. You guys will like it. It's a good playlist to get kind of indoctrinated into understanding what's happening in gaming, and why Avalanche is going to probably be one of the top ones out there. So why are so many crypto games are switching chains or calling it quits? And there's some reasons here. I want to kind of highlight a couple of points here. Let me kind of zoom out on this. There's a few things that I want to focus in on. 81 % of current blockchain games use non -gaming -focused layer 1s, so that's one reason. Early on, they're going to have to move into some of these layer 2s. 74 % of games are now choosing an EVM network, like Solana's virtual machine. Comes in a distant second, making up about 10 % of games, and this is in comparison to what's happening over on Ethereum and Polygon. ETH sidechain Polygon remains a top choice. You can kind of see the chart right here. And the number, Solana looks like they're number four, ETH number three, and obviously BNB and Polygon pretty much holding the top two spots, so something to be aware of. 65 of % blockchain games move networks, so this year, up from 48 games switching things up across all of 22. So a little bit of activity. Could be something happening there, I think, on the sense of urgency, meaning that people are probably realizing, okay, we've been building, we're at that time now where the market is going to start heating up, we need to be ready, and we need to be on the blockchain that we're going to be on. So I would agree that it's a good strategy move. 60 % of games that left a layer one network moved to a layer two scaling network. This is all based on fees. It's the situation that really kind of boils down to everything. As more people have migrated to Polygon, this is one of the developers, we just started to run into scaling issues with Polychain, and we're paying between $3K and $4K a day on gas. Just untenable, so this is preventing us from both scaling and the game. So that's a problem I think eventually will be solved with some advancements in Polygon tech that will eventually get that into a scalable solution for the growth that we're going to see around gaming in general. Also want to take a look quickly, just so you guys are aware, Polygon soared last week after IMAX Immutable, a Web3 gaming platform, shook hands with video game giant Ubisoft. So similarly, Solana has also been favored by institutional investors recently, getting some attention of top crypto whales, which I think both those tokens in general, but more importantly, the vision of what these tokens represent. That's the thing that I think a lot of people are going to continue to see happening for sure. So, very interesting, I'd love to get your feedback. When you look at all the chains, whether it's what's happening, or within the ecosystems, if you're looking at IMAX or you look at Immutable, you look at what's happening within Solana or even Polygon, maybe Avalanche. Is it something that you would focus in one particular area or games within one particular area? Let me know, drop some comments down below. Make sure and smash the like button is one of the ways that we understand what you guys really want here on the show. One other thing, I want to kind of go into a few tweets, this of course coming in from Sandeep over at Polygon. It's easy to price talk, this is obviously with the price changing and moving so quickly over the last few days. It's hard to discuss fundamentals, fundamentals have the last laughs, I always agree with that. And I think this is something also, hopefully we're supposed to get Sandeep on the show. He's been scheduled a couple of times, we're going to try to get him on the show, hopefully before year end to give you guys kind of an update of what's happening at Polygon. Here's Robbie Ferguson from Immutable. Are you getting it, Hanon? I don't know if that's a message or not. We'll see. Anyway, Assassin's Creed, Maker Ubisoft is building a crypto gaming experience with Immutable. And I think this is something that we're going to continue to see a lot of major partnerships really make their way into some of these projects that I think are good for the industry, but more importantly are good for this cycle. And what I mean by that is, and everybody always asks me, you know, what's going to be the big winners this time around? I totally believe that it is going to be gaming. We thought gaming was going to be the last bull run metaverse kind of play. Many of these projects just were not ready. Many of these, you know, blockchains weren't ready. Now it's a different story. And when you think about that, look at what is happening with Avalanche. Why are AAA game studios choosing Avalanche? They're on a full PR run right here, and you can kind of see some of the things that you have to kind of focus in on with Avalanche. Shrapnel, Gunzilla, build on Beam, we've been talking about that. Again, Beam, definitely one that I'm watching very closely just in reference to the token itself. Obviously Shrapnel, we've had Shrapnel team on our show. Great graphics. Gunzilla, just the ability for them to be able to kind of leverage both traditional and Web3 I think is going to be a pretty big deal. Now let's remember some guys in the moves that you guys will probably recognize. This of course is Ryan White. And Ryan was over at Polygon, and now he's moved over to Optimism. So I knew he wouldn't stay out of the business long. And the interesting thing since Optimism, this is just something that you have to look at, if you look at Optimism in general, a little bit of activity here, this is just on the price. Market cap right here as you can kind of see it exploding a little bit, 1 .6 billion currently. And if you look at the Explorer token unlocks, there are some things getting ready to unlock in a big way here. So I don't know, could be some action going on here. So I would just be very aware of that. If you are looking at or really analyzing Optimism OP as a whole, just something to be aware of. There's getting ready to be a pretty significant unlock. What does that mean? It means that we're going to see a dump. For some of you guys who have not seen or been around the crypto markets very long, if you haven't subscribed to the channel, eventually you'll start to get and understand kind of the vernacular that we use and what the industry use, follow crypto Twitter religiously and make sure and follow the projects themselves. Because a lot of times there's a lot within the projects and the devs within those projects that can be looked at that can kind of set you on a research role that I think you'll pay attention to. A good example, a tweet from Alexander from Scott Mavis, Axie Infinity, if you guys are, maybe you have been around crypto gaming for a while, you know Axie, but if you haven't read up on it, learn a little bit more about what Axie did because they were really one of the first ones out there. Now what he's talking about here was in reference to a show we did last week where we released a PBN exclusive and that was Roblox talking about introducing NFTs into Roblox. This was actually the piece that Alexander is talking to specifically. It was an interview with Squawkbox and the CEO of Roblox and it was all about the potential for NFTs. Short answer, yes they're going to be planning, it's coming into their roadmap and I think that was what Alexander of course is kind of referencing is that hey they've been involved with Roblox often and of course they've got investments from them and plans for Ronan and Axie and all that starting to play together. Point being is that there's a lot of intersection between what's happening in traditional gaming, Web 2, and what is getting ready to happen in Web 3, which is why everybody needs to be paying attention. This is a good example right here, Gala Games putting out a simple tweet, never short on Web 3. You'll notice this little icon right here guys, does anybody recognize that? I'm going to zoom in on that just for you guys a little bit. Right there, does anybody recognize that? Yeah, well that's IMX because they bought the hashtag and now every time that's being used, kudos to Robbie, you just punked everybody on crypto Twitter for sure. Interesting stuff out there. Games are being played in many ways right now and it's more than the kind of blockchain games that we're thinking about coming our way. Alright rolling out another topic, of course many of you guys have probably heard us talk about Zilliqa way back in the day. Well they're active again and guess what, they're making the Fusion Gaming Hub, the first ever Web 3 gaming platform available for download through the Microsoft Store. It's real guys, there's a Web 3 platform called Fusion, right there Fusion, on the Microsoft Store and you'll kind of get here Web 3, some of the things that are happening there. I don't know, I'm just, we'll see. But the point is, is that someone's going to be first and of course this is interesting that this was the case. Alright further into it, let's go over here, Chili's on the move again, likely to be on the move for some time with this move right here, announcing that Animoca Brands joins Chili. Chili's as a new validator, so they aligned the blockchain innovation with Chili's Sportfi, we've talked to Chili's before, we've went around Chili's and if you don't know about Chili's check out some of our videos because we do a full breakdown. Think of it really as a blockchain for the fans of a lot of these major sports leagues and this could be everything from MMA to soccer, etc, you know, European football for those of you in Europe. And then another one I want to hit on of course, this is Yat -Su right there, starting to rev up the engines with of course Torque. We had the Torque, well rev on their team on, so we were dropping a video this week, you guys are going to not want to miss it, make sure and check it out, this is just giving you kind of a precursor. Another thing that we've got coming is an interview with the HiveMapper team and if you guys don't know about HiveMapper, this is the company that is really expanding mapping in the blockchain and what that might mean for every kind of company out there in logistics, all that. This is the utility scenario that plays into a lot of that. So just, it's a good one to watch, we're going to drop a video on that this week as well. Alright, just as an example, this of course as everybody understands, Atlas was one of the first movers out and of course that as we've seen with in terms of their amazing development as a game overall. Others to watch this week, Uniswap we're kind of keeping a close eye on, if you're watching some of our videos you'll know why, go back and look at our video a little bit more on stablecoins tokenization and around that. Other ones to keep an eye on, I want to kind of scan down in here, this is Chiliz, this is the one that we just mentioned a second ago. This is another one to keep an eye on and a handful of others, there's obviously Wild, we've talked about Wilderworld before, over, a couple others you might want to take a look at. Anyway, the point is that we're starting to see a little bit of activity in Web3 around a lot of these games and eventual platforms of what's gonna play into the future of gaming as a whole. Alright, if you guys are not part of the Diamond Circle, make sure and get in right now, it's one of the best places that you can get additional alpha from us. Couple of podcasts, Kyle has his Web3 and business podcast over there, it's a great one, listen to that one. And if you want to follow me out there on X, it's at Paul Baron, catch you next time right here on Tech Path.

"Investment Advisors, switch to interactive brokers for lowest cost global trading and turnkey custody solutions. No ticket charges and no conflicts of your interests at ibkr .com slash ria. Dean, we're talking what, 3 .3 % year over year here, 0 .3 % on a month -to -month basis here, and that's relatively in line with where we've been now for the last couple of months. I'm not sure if those numbers get hit right on the nose, I'm not sure it really changes the narrative at all. All right, we're getting the closing bells here in New York on this Monday afternoon here, and once again, a low volume day leading to what is two relatively unchanged markets. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is in the green on the day, but only by about a tenth of a percent, higher by roughly 49 points and change as we wait for these numbers to settle. The S &P 500 lower by about 3 to 4 points, or about a tenth of a percent, while the NASDAQ composite is going to finish the day lower by roughly 30 points, or about two tenths of a percent. And the Russell 2000 really emblematic here of just how tepid the price action was, unchanged on the day at 17 ,000 and change. All right, so tepid on the price action, you look at the S &P a little changed here lower. If you dig a little bit deeper though, a little bit of a negative tone in terms of the individual names, 307 to the downside, losing some ground in the Monday trade. Katie, 194 to the downside, so a little bit of a, like I said, a negative slant to unchanged in today's trade. Yeah, and you take a look at some of the industry groups, there's a lot of green, a lot of red, so it all washes out to about neutral, but you take a look at what did well today, and it's the autos group, but we know a lot of that is coming from Tesla, but nonetheless, that group higher by about 3 .6 percent. Healthcare equipment and services also having a good day, so too is energy. So those are your bright spots. You take a look at the bottom of the list, what isn't doing too well today from an industry group perspective. You have retail, real estate, you have tech hardware, and you have utilities leading losses.

All right, good morning to all of you Cafe Bitcoiners. It is Monday, November 13th, and you guys can probably hear my slack snapping off here. Let me mute that shit. Sorry about that. Monday, November 13th, 2023, and it is another awesome day. Looking forward to the week in Bitcoin. Once again, why are all these Bitcoiners so goddamn excited all the time? It's disgusting. What's wrong with you people? You know, I remember when you first started doing Spaces, Alex, and this is before I had extensive experience with Slack, and I could hear it going off all the time in the background. Every time we were having those Spaces discussions in the morning, I was just like, what in the hell are you picking up? My fault. My bad. Morning macro. Oh, sorry. How's it going, guys? I hope everybody had a good Veterans Day weekend, too, by the way. It was fantastic. I worked my ass off. That's all right, though. Good stuff. Good stuff. Good morning, Terrence. Bright and early. On a Monday at like 7 o 'clock in the morning. What's wrong with you people? Macro. Good morning, Peter. Good morning, Jacob. Shout -outs to Dr. Jeff, Joe Carlosari, in the audience. Obviously, we're throwing you guys invites, but you're welcome to just chill. Whatever. It's all good. So apparently, Bitcoin has taken a slight pause from its vertical acceleration and Bitcoiners are attacking each other once again. That didn't take long. Anyway, welcome to Cafe Bitcoin, episode 475. Shout -outs to our supporters on Fountain and Nosternes. By the way, when I say signal, I'm not trying to say it's just my signal. We're looking for the signal. Some people are like, eh, never let us on stage at Cafe Bitcoin. It's an opinion, all right? It's an opinion. It's an opinion. If I don't think your signal is that great, then maybe we might not let you on. I'm not sorry for that. Like we're here to provide signal. And yeah, it's a judgment call and yeah, you might think your signal is more important and that's fine. I'm not mad at that. I'm not even judging you. In fact, here's, Jacob and I were just talking about this earlier. I don't even disagree with you on many things. Some people are like, well, this issue is really important. You guys don't talk about it. It's like, it is really important. Totally agree with you, actually. What I don't agree with is complaining about stuff that you have no solution for, or if you're not building a solution for something. Like if you're building something and it's a solution, we will invite you on this stage and you can talk about it. But if all you're doing is whinging and complaining, like why are we going to waste everybody's time with that nonsense? Am I wrong? Am I out of line here? Serious question. No, you're not out of line and whinging is a good word. I think more people need to use it. Yeah, mewling. I love that word too, mewling, whinging, meh, meh, um, okay. Good morning, Mickey Koss. For today's show, we're going to talk about, apparently BlackRock is launching an Ethereum ETF, or they're applying to anyway. We're going to do a spot Bitcoin ETF approval update this week, maybe. And Joe Carlosari is welcome to come up here and give us his views on that. Otherwise we'll just read his tweets out loud. I got no shame with that. What else? Oh, ICBC, which is one of the largest banks in China, was apparently cyber ransomed last week. That's a thing. So maybe we'll talk about that a little bit. Here's an interesting little factoid. Every $6 ,313 move above $29 ,586 is a billion dollars for micro strategy. Wow. Well, indeed. But the naysayers are going to say every $3 ,360 move down is minus a billion dollars for micro strategy. I was just about to say, I could see the articles now as it drops from $100K to $95K, they'll be just, you know, slamming micro strategy. Meanwhile he's sitting there like up thousands of percent. It's completely absurd, but it'll continue. Just buy Berkshire Hathaway. It's better than Bitcoin. Anybody can buy it. Are you slamming Dear Point? No, I would never do that. Nate, you're so crystal clear this morning. You must be stationary and not driving anywhere. I'm using the updated desktop. They've improved it dramatically. And you aren't driving anywhere. That too. You can't raise your hand, but it is working pretty well. Okay. Question. Are you on Windows or Mac? I'm on Windows 10 or 11 and I forget what number it is. You can't raise your hand on Mac either. You can't raise your hand and can you do emojis? I can do a lot of emojis. A lot of emojis, wow. Like a thousand at a time, apparently. So are you retired now, Nate? For the most part, yeah. I love your story, man. For those of you who don't know, Nate's been hanging around, you know, he's been coming around Cafe Bitcoin for a couple of years now and back in the day, since it started and back in the day, back in them, Nate used to roll around as a, as a truck driver, if I understand correctly, saving his money, stacking sets, man, no, I, I, the reason I people double to check whatever wallet you plan on using and do never, ever, ever, ever enter your keys into a digital device that is connected to the internet. We've seen a string of new apps on these app stores like Apple and Google that pretend to be existing wallets that are only available on the desktop. They are not legit. There's a, there is a new string of them. This was brought to everybody's attention by Oscar P at O S C Pacey and there's a new Electrum wallet on the app store Electrum doesn't have a mobile app and there's all kinds of other apps Lumi, samurai wallet, Jack's Liberty, Jack's Liberty wallet management Phantom wallet of a protocol assets trade sparrow was spoofed the other day, these apps, there's no mobile app that you should be using with your seed phrases from any existing wallet that you're using that holds any significant amount of Bitcoin. If you happen to use a hot wallet, use a fresh, use a hot app, wallet, whatever. If you happen to use one of these devices, make sure you're using a brand new wallet that it has generated. And you're only going to use minimal amount of Bitcoin. If should you do it like if you're going to take cash and you're going out for the day, that amount of Bitcoin, not, not thousands and thousands of dollars or even your, your stack that these people are unscrupulous, they have the morals and they do not care. They want your Bitcoin. Please be careful. And even with sparrow, there are methods that you can verify that the app is legit. And I, I, I can put a link in the nest. I don't want to populate it yet, which it's cool with Alex. And super easy to do because I'm a boomer and I did it yesterday. Like super easy. It's a one, two, three, I think four steps. It involves your terminal and just copy and paste. Yeah. Yeah. There's, there's a, there's a path or an FAQ on how to do it on sparrow. Once, once you go to download it, it's how to verify right below it. So please take the time to learn. Um, yeah. And don't lose your Bitcoin.

The Bitboy Crypto Podcast
A highlight from Crypto News Updates: Solana, XRP & ADA Pumping!
"Are we back? Altcoins are pumping, stablecoins are getting an upgrade, and the NFT community is joining hands. I'm Hannah and I'm going to fill you in on this week's events in cryptocurrency. Chainlink is up 34 % this week and the hype surrounding LINK is something to pay attention to in my opinion. The Grayscale Chainlink Trust, GLNK, has been trading at a 200 % premium to the spot price of Chainlink, LINK, indicating strong institutional demand for the cryptocurrency. This is the highest premium that GLNK has ever traded at and it suggests that institutional investors are bullish on the long -term prospects of Chainlink. The fact that GLNK is trading at a premium to the spot price of LINK suggests that there is more demand for shares of the trust than there is for Chainlink tokens themselves. The strong institutional demand for Chainlink is a positive sign for the cryptocurrency overall as it suggests that institutional investors are becoming more and more interested in investing in digital assets. And they think that Chainlink is a valuable one. XRP surged nearly 10 % this week and surpassed Binance Coin BNB to become the fourth largest cryptocurrency by market cap. This pump was likely due to two key announcements from Ripple, including approval to operate in Georgia. The National Bank of Georgia selected Ripple to develop its central bank digital currency or CVDC. This is a major win for Ripple as it shows that governments are increasingly interested in using Ripple's technology. Ripple also received approval to offer its services in Dubai. This is another major win for Ripple as Dubai is a global hub for financial services and crypto. These two announcements show that Ripple's technology is in high demand and this is likely driving the recent surge in XRP's price. Ripple is also facing a number of positive legal developments which is further fueling investor confidence. Overall the outlook for XRP is very bullish at the moment and I think XRP is worth paying attention to. Cardano has also pumped 10 % over the past seven days and this is due to a number of factors including a recent conference, the Cardano Summit, that was held in Dubai. Circle, the issuer of the popular stablecoin USDC, has recently announced a new upgrade to the USDC and EURC smart contract. This upgrade, known as V2 .2, includes a number of improvements that will make USDC and EURC more efficient and user -friendly. One of the most important changes in V2 .2 is the addition of support for EIP -1271. This will allow smart contract wallets to authorize transfers of USDC and EURC which will improve support for account abstraction and make it easier for users to pay network gas fees in USDC and EURC. Another important change in V2 .2 is the optimization of the block listing check. This will make it significantly cheaper to transfer, transfer from, transfer with authorization, receive with authorization, burn, and mint USDC and EURC. These improvements are likely to boost the adoption of USDC and EURC, especially among developers and users of Layer 2 blockchain solutions. The Layer 2s that are used by USDC and USDT, such as Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, and Matic, are likely to be the most relevant. Okay, so how will this impact the further adoption of stablecoins into the geopolitical landscape? This is likely to be accelerated by the improvements in V2 .2. This is because stablecoins offer a number of advantages over traditional fiat currencies, such as speed and efficiency, low cost, and transparency. Overall, the improvements in Circle's USDC V2 .2 upgrade are a positive development for the stablecoin industry, and these improvements are likely to boost the adoption of USDC and EURC, especially among developers and users of Layer 2 blockchain solutions. The co -founder of Yuga Labs and board ape yacht club Gordon Goner on X is single -handedly saving NFTs. This guy is a Chad. He mentioned in his bio that he's taking a break for health reasons from Yuga Labs, but he still claims to be an ape until he dies. Now that Gordon has parted with Yuga in some ways, he's decided to show love to the NFT projects that have been building during the bear market. Gordon posted photos of his newly acquired NFTs over the past week, and some of the projects include CryptoPunks, Pudgy Penguins, Sappy Seals, Goblin Town, and many more. Shoutout Gordon for bringing good vibes and a sense of community to crypto Twitter amongst all of the chaos. Grok is a new AI assistant developed by Elon Musk and his company X. It is designed to be able to answer questions in natural language, even about complex topics. Grok has access to real -time information via the X platform, which might give it a significant advantage over other AI assistants. Grok is currently available as part of an X premium subscription service that also includes other premium features on the app. However, Musk has said that he plans to make Grok available to everybody for free in the future. Musk has said that he envisions Grok being used as a general -purpose AI assistant that can help with a wide variety of tasks. Grok is designed to be witty, funny, and sarcastic. Elon Musk has said that he wants Grok to have a personality and to be able to interact with users in a fun and engaging way. For example, when asked for a step -by -step guide to making cocaine, Grok responded with a tongue -in -cheek answer that included suggestions such as obtain a chemistry degree and set up a laboratory in a remote location. I've been seeing a lot of screenshots of Grok interactions on my timeline, and it's cracking me up. Grok is still under development, but it has the potential to be a powerful and versatile AI assistant in the future. OpenAI engineers have allegedly come out stating that Grok is mocked in machine learning and AI communities and is analogous to a third -grader CS project. Would you place your bets on Sam Altman's ChatGPT or Elon Musk's Grok? Let me know in the comments below. The Simpsons is a popular animated sitcom that has been running for over 30 years. The show is known for its satire humor and its ability to predict the future. Over the years, the show has made a number of predictions that have come true, including the rise of Donald Trump to the presidency and the COVID -19 pandemic. In their 2023 Halloween special episode, The Simpsons predicted the rise of NFTs. In the episode, Bart Simpson becomes an NFT artist and his creations become incredibly popular. The episode also parodies the NFT community, showing how it can be full of scams and hype. Does this mean that NFTs are about to go parabolic, die, or does it mean nothing at all? Place your bets in the comments below. The Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer is coming out next month, confirmed by Rockstar Games on November 8th via X after announcing that Rockstar Games is turning 25 years old in December. Veteran on the Move
A highlight from Meet Chicago Northwest with Mario Farfan
"Army veteran Mario Farfan is the account executive of meek Chicago Northwest an organization that is bringing Conferences and meetings to the northwest Chicago suburbs coming up next on veteran on the move Welcome to veteran on the move if you're a veteran in transition an entrepreneur wannabe or someone still stuck in that Jop trying to escape this podcast is dedicated to your success And now your host Joe crane Service isn't just what Navy Federal Credit Union does It's who they are That's why Navy Federal created tools to help you earn and save more learn more at Navy federal org slash join Hey today, we're talking with army veteran Mario Farfan from meek Chicago Northwest Mario welcome to the show We're looking forward to hearing which good things you're doing up there in Chicagoland So before we talk about all that takes back to us what you did in the army Yeah, absolutely. Thank you, Joe. Thank you for inviting me here today Excited to be on your podcast to share my story a little bit So, uh, well, I joined our military right at the high school literally after the graduation party the next day I was in the car with the with the recruiter Headed to all the preparation and in the other paperwork administrative stuff. So that was 19 night August 1994 I ride the South Carolina for Jackson for basic training Awesome, and you're looking through your bio your parents were Guatemalan immigrants, right? Yes. Yes, they were going from Guatemala to Chicago I came here after a long wait a wait time back in the 70s and They started their their journey in Chicago in Chicago the west side of Chicago actually humble park And that's where I was born But then they ended up moving closer to the north side And I speak in street corners because I'm from that era in Chicago is something about Chicago I know you I know you from Kansas City you mentioned as we talked earlier So we grew up on Winnipeg and Broadway, which is essentially the north side. They call it Edgewater now Back in the in the early 80s a very different area there that it is now a lot of Cambodian and Vietnamese refugees And immigrants that came after the Vietnam War. I did not know this Obviously as I got older I went back and there's a digging around how I grew up Why was there so many, you know different ethnicities? So I yes, I grew up in Chicago border ways in Chicago, correct? Yes, and so Tell us a little bit about some of the things you did while you're in the army Yeah, so I was I chose my MLS was 94 Bravo back then I think it's changed 92 golf now, which is a cook essentially my thinking a 17 year old person getting Advice from many different people that weren't an army They were like Mario choose a job that it's gonna you know, not be too strenuous or dangerous So you're not gonna so I wasn't gonna be an infantry or Airborne Ranger. I knew that right away So I decided that you know, and I was interested in cooking my mother She you know love to cook so I said to myself it would be something interesting to venture in So I was a I was a cook in the military Definitely had a lot of friends because we were out in the field You know, we had the nice kitchen trailer set up with hot coffee and grill and all my military friends had to eat those MRE So they were like, hey Mario, you know, hook me up with something hot stuff like that So I definitely gained a lot of friends which was pretty cool because I started doing networking back then. I just didn't know it Yeah, great experience. So talk about your transition out of the army. Was it something you're expecting to come on quick? Were you prepared unprepared? I would say I was policy. I'm prepared to be honest So I got out on night 99. I was in Germany my last stop At the time so it was more of a pressure to stay in. That's what I remember the most It was a lot of fear a lot of you know, high pressure to stay in like what are you gonna do? So then life is not great You know stay here, you know, you can retire which I know many people do I know many people Friends that I have still they retired in Germany. They ended up just living to staying there, but my family at the time Was going through a struggle financially and I felt like I need to come home and just be back with them and support them as much as I could so I They gave me my paperwork and I was on my own. Basically. I got back to Chicago, which is very difficult right because Chicago Back, this is like 1999 2000. So just trying to you know, figure all of it out It's a lot right because it's benefits. There's paperwork. There's things that we just don't know about and I'll be honest the last Ten twenty years. I'm learning more and more, right? I Know too recently. There's just many benefits of veterans have that. We just don't know about especially when it comes to entrepreneur small business Something that I want to mention in in 2015 I started a Hispanic chamber out here in the suburbs and part of that was just thinking about how to look out for you know Hispanic business owners So now I'm thinking about better veteran business owners because I do run into them Hispanic or non -hispanic and they talk to me and say you know what? We we need better resources for our for our veteran business owners that are either starting a business On the middle of their business or just trying to figure out how to take their business to the next level So I'm always thinking about that. I'm always thinking about that. I am I am on me Chicago Northwest. That's my full -time job So so that that I'm able to incorporate it because I am I still continue to meet People from from that walk of life and as a veteran myself, I didn't have my own business, right? But If I had that information, who knows right 20 years ago Whatever 24 years ago who knows what would have happened to me when I came back, but I did what most veterans do I enrolled in college right away. It just tried to get out there in civilian life I began a 20 20 year career in banking. That's what I ended up doing so But so yes, I was a banker Assistant manager branch manager for 15 years and a regional manager up to a business banker So I did all facets of banking retail banking when it comes to helping small businesses and that's where I end in my career and and And then I decided to take a another a different Turn in my career into the what I'm doing now with me Chicago Northwest is you know working with us so still working with businesses right because associations nonprofits Diversity clubs sports clubs. Those are all businesses, right? So now all we do now in Chicago, Northwest we talk to them We we bring we try to invite them nationally, right or even internationally to the Northwest suburbs They come out and see what we have to offer so they can have the conferences the conventions or their meetings here. So That was a long answer. I know Back to what you said if I just one of five my transition If I had to rate it, I'll probably give it a one or two. It was it was it wasn't it was not great Yeah, it was not great. So sounds like you ultimately landed Well now I don't I'm not real familiar with the Chicago suburbs But is the Northwest Chicago suburbs primarily Hispanic or have a heavily Hispanic influence or I know she says something about you were targeting more Hispanic Since you're probably fluent in Spanish targeting the Spanish business network Yeah, great question so Chicago in itself state of Illinois itself has a large Hispanic population in itself city Chicago obviously is the largest city which is a heavy heavy Hispanic presence in the suburbs is starting to change, right? You have also an Asian presence Middle Eastern Indian presence, so it's starting to change very very a lot of Backgrounds and cultures Polish as well are out here in the suburbs It's all a mix but I would say definitely in the last 10 20 years the suburbs people have migrated Either to work out here in the suburbs to live out here go to school out here Public schools is a challenge, right? I I went to public schools. So hey, I made it I mean, I made it but it's not it's not easy Joe. I'll tell you that especially when I grew up in the 80s was definitely not easy, but So the answer to that would be yeah Yes, the the suburbs are being more diverse across not just Hispanic so the reason I started the Hispanic Chamber Joe because there's this Hispanic chamber in the city downtown on most people that live in the suburbs don't want to travel You know, it could be an hour for traffic an hour into the city just to go get resources and help So I figured why not have something here for them where they can go and get resources Find out about grants or how to start a business or get the paperwork in order So that's kind of how why I started to need I need that I saw in the suburbs in the middle Which wasn't there awesome? Elevation with Steven Furtick
A highlight from Say Hey By Faith
"Hey, this is Steven Furtick. I'm the pastor of Elevation Church, and this is our podcast. Be sure to subscribe so we can get you these new sermons every week. I hope you're blessed today. Come on, tell them again. Say, I trust in God. So we'll call it our trust offering. Not like a trust fund or something like that, but in a way it is. In a way it is because it's us believing that our God, our Jehovah Jireh, has stored up for us. Everything that we will ever need is in his hand. How many have a testimony that all you have needed his hand has provided? I trust in God. Oh, yeah. Tell your neighbor, I'm not so sure about you. I don't know if I can trust you, but I trust in God, and I think it will be amazing. I trust in God. That's kind of the subject I'll preach around for the next few weeks as we move this year to a close. Today I'm excited to journey with you into the Scripture. Are you excited to see what God will speak to you today? I was running out the house, and this is the only Bible I could find close by. I didn't feel like going back downstairs and getting the regular ones, so I got this big boy today, a big boy Bible. About to beat the Devil half to death with this Bible today. In Hebrews, chapter 11, there is a Scripture that leads to a Scripture that leads to a Scripture that I never thought about before today, but I want to share it with you, because I think it's going to help us to trust in God for where he's taking us. Hebrews, chapter 11, verse 6. I thought about only reading a few of these verses, but they're all so good I figured they would be offended if we left them out, so we're going to need to do verses 6 through 16. Can you handle that? Did you wear your elastic waistband today for this word that I'm going to get you fat off of? Hebrews 11, verse 6. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark. To save his family, by his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith. By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. You don't have that much faith, do you? I don't think I do.

WeWork's bankruptcy filing is rattling the market for office space. These property owners, it's the last thing they needed. Ruth Kolpaver is CEO of Wharton Property Advisors. She says WeWork's filing allows it to walk away from some leases and renegotiate others downward. These properties are going to be reprised and some of them won't make it. The economics just won't make sense. The leases, where a new tenant is willing to lease the space, won't cover the building's operating expenses and real estate taxes. Kolpaver also says this could mean the end of the road, especially for some older, more low -tech buildings. WeWork often rented for the co -working spaces it then leased out to others. They'll go back to the bank and who knows what will happen to them. I mean, some of these buildings could really, could be demolished and they'll start from scratch. Day 6 St. Gertrude the Great Novena Discerning Hearts Catholic Podcasts - burst 1
"Day 6 For the Grace of Holy Recollection St. Gertrude cherished the scene of the shepherds in a quiet awe as they discovered the infant Jesus, cradled in the humble stable by Mary and Joseph. This tender image served as her daily reminder to remain conscious of God's intimate presence and to observe her emotions as carefully as a shepherd tends their flock. Let us ask St. Gertrude to intercede for us that we might receive the grace to keep our hearts attuned to the gentle movements of the Holy Spirit and to the loving encounters we experience throughout our day. May she also intercede in the intention we bring to this novena.

"All his dignity to defend the city and the White House. I want you to listen to this here, how he defends this $6 billion. He defends the absolutely indefensible. This is not a dumb guy. He knows what he's saying is and dumb yet he says it anyway. Take a look. There's a lot of talk about the $6 billion and the American Hostage change. I heard you also say that it can be frozen at any time. Why isn't this the to freeze that? I don't have any policy decisions with respect to that to speak to you today, Brett. I think it's important for people to remember that not a single DNR of those funds has gone into Iran. Not one, not any. Nothing's been allocated out of that fund. Yeah, we're going to write this block is fungible. You get $6 billion over here for humanitarian and food. So then you can move money someplace else. And then you have the not enforcing sanctions that allows Iran to cash in on its oil around the world. Brett, with all due respect, I just got to push back on you there. It's not that we're not enforcing sanctions. We have been enforcing them. As a matter of fact, we've added sanctions. We've sanctioned 400 entities in Iran just in the beginning of this administration, let alone the sanctions that came before us. And as for the fungibility, again, that money was never going to be tapped by the Iranian regime. They were never going to see it themselves. It was always going to go to vendors that we approved to go to buy humanitarian assistance, medical and food, to get directly to the Iranian people. The regime was never going to see that or feel that, and they haven't asked for it. And the other thing I'll say, Brad, just before we get off this I want to just push back on one thing. You said that the sanctions are being enforced. The Iranian exports of oil to China, 2020, $6 .6 billion, 2021, $23 .1 billion, 2022, 30 billion dollars. So how is that enforcing the sanctions on

"America in the morning continues. It's 16 after. The Biden administration will approve one of the largest oil developments ever on federal land today and approval that comes right after the president announced sweeping protections for more than 16 million acres of land and water in Alaska. Correspondent Katie Clark explains. Later today, the Biden administration is expected to announce protections for a large area of Alaskan land and sea, but this comes as he is expected to approve a gigantic oil producing project. The protections that Biden will announce covers 16 million acres, including banning all oil drilling in the Arctic Ocean and implementing protecting the environment in the national petroleum reserve. In contrast, the willow project, a multi-billion dollar and decades long project proposed by ConocoPhillips, is expected to be approved by the administration in the coming days. The willow project is a $6 billion plan proposed by ConocoPhillips to drill inside the national petroleum reserve. In Alaska, environmentalists criticized the project, saying it will pose health and environmental risks in his presidential campaign, Biden said he would not approve any new oil drilling on American land. "How they're doing now. Expert analysis. You're basically just changing a $5 bill into 5 ones. Definitely essential. Looking at high yield, where does that take you these days? Bloomberg radio, the Bloomberg business app and Bloomberg radio dot com. Bloomberg, the world is listening. The composer Joseph Haydn famously said, I listened more than I studied. It sounds like a law school hypothetical. Here in Bloomberg, it's the same thing. Do you maintain that low rate regime? Can you see our two years? How do you build a strategy with that eventuality in mind? Experts, information, news. The push sets up a potential fight. What do we know about how it will go public? Bloomberg radio, the Bloomberg business app and Bloomberg radio dot com. Bloomberg, the world is listening. Sources have told Bloomberg that Qatari investors are already in a roughly $6 billion opening bid for Manchester United. That's a head of what's expected to be a fierce spinning war for the English football giant, the simulate foxman has the latest. So Simone, what's the general sense here of whether the qataris are going to win this spin provided their offer is submitted as expected. This is a big bid and it's very close to what we understand the glazer family, which currently owns man united, was looking for. We understand they were looking for about $6 billion or 5 billion pounds. There have been some reports more recently that the number might have gone higher to something like 6 billion pounds. So this is the opening bid. It's strong. It looks very much along the lines of also what outside analysts, the likes of sportico, for example, value the team at, the question mark is, can Jim ratcliffe the other bitter the billionaire bitter we understand is working with Goldman Sachs. Can he come in with an offer anywhere close to this? We'll have to see. This bid, however, does still face challenges. The biggest one being that Qatar sports investments in entity. Affiliated with QIA, owned by the state already owns French football team, PSG, and UEFA rules forbid the same two teams owned by the same owner from competing against each other in major European tournaments. So we don't know whether that will be sorted out, but we do know that this offer at least is a big number if it's submitted in the next couple of days. Come in in size or go home is not the same. When it comes to basketball, what's the story here? We've got another scoop. QIA and Abu Dhabi's in the badla looking at MBA teams. It hardly do the bid together. So maybe they're going to bid up the prices. What's the story? All sports all the time today. So this is actually something that just was able to be allowed to happen. The NBA board of governors late last year, a past a new rule that would allow sovereign wealth funds to own up to 20% stake in NBA teams. So we understand QIA and we bottle up both taking an interest here. There's a clear financial reason these teams, the valuations have just soared in the last couple of years. They have global influence. So there's a good reason to get in on this story. There's also the potential influence idea. The idea that you promote yourself as a gulf state by taking on sponsorships by just being present in the minds of people around the world and particularly the United States. Critics, of course, call this sports washing, but it's something that we've seen whether it's Qatar hosting the World Cup, of various countries trying to host Formula One races and potentially now investors sovereign wealth fund investors in these NBA teams. And then elsewhere, Iranian protesters return to the streets in several major cities. What's prompted the new demonstrations, this outpour of emotion? So these people were commemorating 40 days since the death of two men who were arrested for their involvement in the protests. This is a renewed effort, I think, we've seen by these protesters to come out into the street to make their voices heard because really what we had seen as these demonstrations had slowed down in the past couple of weeks. The idea that American enterprise institute, the various experts have on this, is that was only a sort of temporarily lull in this general angst against the regime in part caused by exhaustion, cold weather, whether this latest round of protests is the beginning of a new wave that remains to be seen. And then as always, the question is whether these protesters, which are mostly based in the cities, can bring in other people, oil workers, manufacturing workers, et cetera, around the country to join them. That is the key existential threat, frankly, that the Iranian regime is facing. Simone, thank you very much. Small folks will now track in the stories. I think at the financial center in Doha, to our markets here, we have our equity support of our tracking the latest breaking news, adnoc, pushing ahead with the IPO of their gas unit, what are the details? What's on offer? Good morning, Matt, yes, we have ad not looking to sell 4% of its gas unit. Granted that does sound like a small amount, but it is actually going to be or set to be one of the biggest IPOs in Abu Dhabi that we have seen. So it's not a small amount coming to the table in terms of valuations, but maybe as in terms of science. The key thing to watch out for gas matters will be the dividends. Dividend plays have been the focus for Middle Eastern investors for a few years now, but especially now that gulf markets are running out of steam. Companies have to prove to investors that, you know, you have to come and invest in us because there will be a shareholder payout and that's what we're seeing with amna gas set to pay $3.2 billion of dividends in 2023. So we'll see how demand is, but looking at how the demand has been for the previous IPOs for an end local investors should be very, very interested. And then solutions by STC tumbled after earnings, one of analysts spent writing this morning. Absolutely you so if it felt as much as 10% actually must the limit down in Saudi Arabia and it closed at that level, it reported profit of 1.05 billion coming slightly short of what analysts had estimated at 1.08 billion. But really, with we're seeing here's companies getting very much so punished when they miss estimates and especially with the companies looking to cut costs around the globe and not just in Saudi Arabia, investors want to see that coming out more. But the interesting thing is since you asked about analysts, the SMB capital actually had a more positive outlet on solutions by SCC. They did say that there was also in line with their own estimates and it was that as terrible as the market had sprites then. They said that revenue was driven by growth across all segments. So it's probably not a league picture for the company, especially that it has ties to the government, which gives a lot of projects in the Saudi Arabia. And finally, we've got the Saudi public transport advancing yesterday. So what drove the gains there for? So just what I was mentioning now is the Saudi government contracts Saudi public transports unit, one of its units rather got a contract for ten year bus project in Saudi Arabia. So again, that's the key story in Saudi Arabia. Government contracts are going to be a key driver for stocks and we're seeing that with the Saudi public transport, which closed just 1% higher yesterday. And they do expect the financial impact for this specific contract to show up in the fourth quarter earnings of this year. But we'll leave it there. Thank you for some of those updates. That's what I had about there. We still have much more to come on. The program. This is Bloomberg.

I want to start in greenwood before the massacre tell me about this thriving community with this little seven year. Old girl goes to bed feeling safe. Circa nineteen twenty one tulsa. Greenwood district was one of the most affluent lack communities in the country. In part of the reason the greenwood district is known. Today is because of booker. T. washington In nineteen thirteen referring to the greenwood district as the negro wall street of america in what booker t. washington was attempting to do was to till black black-americans is toward tulsa toward greenwood in. Help them to understand that. The fluence that black people had had accumulated In the greenwood district that was possible for them as well. And so booker. T. washington wanted african americans to understand greenwood as a kind of shining symbol of what was possible in jim. Crow america if it could happen in tulsa black americans could possibly have a different reality in jim crow american and so when the mob attacked greenwood destroyed homes and businesses wasn't just those homes and businesses. That were attempting to be destroyed. It was the idea that black people could prosper in the united states particularly in segregation the segregated united states that was american nineteen twenty one and so that also was under attack under threat but luckily fortunately for us the community rebuilt on. That idea was revived in. Today's is still lives on in the words of mother. Rando in the hers. A mother fletcher as well as human ellis. That point that That washington had turned the eyes of black america to tulsa that this was standing as this shining beacon. Then the destruction. The massacre there in greenwood becomes a kind of collective lynching right could lynching has never just about violence against the one body it is always also an act of terrorism. So what i heard you say was that this also was meant to terrorise to blot out the notion of this kind of black success. For black folks..

"Message and kind of push things forward. They're absolutely heather. Let me come to you on a on another issue which is actually in the budget but feels to me like it's connected to these broader questions well of economic social racial justice and civil rights and that's housing and we know that one of the sort of surprising effects of this shutdown. The you know the quarantine has been just massively rising housing prices around the country. What is the budget plan for affordable housing and assistance from the government around that. You're absolutely right that there is a lot of reason to be very nervous about the housing market housing affordability even before the pandemic We had about eleven million families in the united states paying more than half their income on rent. And i think it's likely that we could worsen this summer. Those protections for not getting addicted are set to expire at the end of june. And as you noted the housing prices have gone up and at the moment rent. Prices are not showing up in in the inflation data and the price rising data. But i think there's a high likelihood we could see that happen in the coming months. The the plan is very ambitious. It's been it was a big part of that second infrastructure first and second infrastructure package to do several hundred billion dollars more towards affordable housing that includes building additional affordable housing as well as retrofitting some of the existing housing stock. A lot of which was built in the fifties and sixties and seventies and needs to be desperately upgraded. There's definitely a lot here whether it will be enough or whether it will move fast enough. Even if this were passed the summer we talked about the struggles of congress multitasking. Even if this first episode package passes the summer is that going to be fast enough to alleviate some of these rent concerns or help prevent people from getting addicted right now. I would like to be more optimistic than i am on that. That one's tough my unequipped final note. I have to say that. I did get more than a little bit of black girl. Joy out of watching the historic moment when white house. Deputy press secretary correze on. Pierre became the first openly gay woman and the first black woman in about thirty years to lead the white house. press briefing. i mean was that just the best. Or what absolutely. And i think that black girl joy is no small thing. Black women have played a key role in electing this administration. So it's important to also have representation in who's delivering the message out of the white house. I'm gonna take that i'm gonna take black girl joys. No small thing from my is politics. Reporter at politico and heather long is an economics correspondent for the washington post. Thank you both for joining us today. Thanks so much. During the past year the pandemic revealed many of the cracks in our national foundation from racial health inequities to uneven wi capacities but perhaps none more critical than the utter lack of an infrastructure to ensure all families have access to quality affordable childcare and this is a burden shouldered disproportionately by women who remain primary caregivers in many families and make up the majority of the childcare workforce wants to tick gives us a glimpse at the scale of the childcare crisis between february and april twenty twenty four point two million in left for lost jobs two million have yet to return the american rescue plan that president joe biden signed into law in march slots remedy at least in part by expanding the child care tax credit and while. It's not a full-scale solution. It is a powerful tool for many families here with me to discuss. What discredit will mean for families during warren during his the co president of community changing co founder of the economic security project. It's so good to have you with us. Hi melissa with you have so glad to hear your voice. I've been listening to all week to your guest hosting. I'm a regular listener. But i've been to brag early tuning into you this week. So it's great to be. We should probably listeners that we've also been friends for twenty one years so that likes to as is part of that but okay yes i says hi fred and one of the things i know about you because we've been friends forever and ever. Is that you and your wife. Welcome to your first child just eight months ago in the midst of the pandemic and so although this is the work you've been doing it also got real personal for you so tell me what you think about this tile childcare tax credit and how what kind of impact it might have. Well yes. thank you blessed. I am a new daddy. And that means. I change a lot of diapers and Diapers costs money. It adds up. You know it's like two bucks a day basically for diapers and why that's important is because a lot of people miss that melissa with the stroke of a pen president biden deliver. What probably the most ambitious anti-poverty legislation and generations. I'm an particularly something in the american rescue plan called the child tax credit. Now a lot of folks on know what this is. This is something that actually passed over. Twenty years ago it was in two thousand one hundred. The bush tax cuts that this little provision by frankly grassroots activists who have been organizing around it got snuck into that tax cut. And all of a sudden here. We are twenty years later after the leadership of mini champions in congress. I'm thinking representative rosa. Delauro for instance. Who's been on this from the late. Ninety s there's this new program called the child tax credit that got expanded so let me say what it what it means. It means that If you are a parent and you have a child You will get roughly three thousand dollars. A credit in terms of your taxes for each child ages. Six to seventeen and for kids under six. That's thirty six hundred dollars now. What does that really mean. It means two hundred fifty dollars three hundred dollars a month her child and it's something called fully refundable meaning. Melissa here's the key. There's no work requirements except this benefits. So if you didn't make income or let's say you made eight thousand dollars a year last year you're gonna get two hundred and fifty dollars or three hundred dollars a month. No strings attached. Let me say that again. No strings attached to pay events diapers diapers food for whatever it. Is you think you need for your child. Okay so you articulated why. It matters to families with children. Why should i care about this. If i don't have kids jessica let me just say it's thirty nine million households melissa covering eighty percent of children who benefit what we do know. Is that half of people survey. Don't even know about this so book but your question is why should you care that. That is the question because it's really you have to move to a why public. Good that benefits me. Even if i don't have kids and here's what we know from research investing in ending child. Poverty means everybody benefits in in this way. It improves. maternal health We have some evidence of this from canada's child allowance for they've been studying the effects of this for years when they did something similar to their little head of us on this what it also means like think of it this way. Melissa child poverty in america costs us somewhere between eight hundred billion dollars two trillion dollars a year in lost economic output. So we are actually not. We're making the wrong kinds of investments by investing in child poverty. We're making that choice to say. We're cool with child poverty in.

"Week was quickly criticized by senate democrats who said the gop is just setting. President biden up to fail and the partisan divide wasn't just on display this week when it came to the federal budget on tuesday. The president hosted the family of george floyd to commemorate the somber anniversary of the day officers. Chauvin murdered george. Floyd the images were important. But the justice in policing act named for floyd that biden had promised to sign by may twenty fifth is still stalled in the senate. There were however some historic moments in washington this week. Civil rights attorney christian clark was confirmed to lead the justice department civil rights division making her the first black woman to serve in that role simpler. Swear swear that. I will support that. The constitution of the united states constitution and on wednesday white house. Deputy press secretary corrine. Pierre became the first openly gay woman to leave the white house. Press briefing and the first black woman to do so in roughly three years. I appreciate the historic nature. I really do But i believe that you know being being behind this podium being in the room Being in this building is not about one person. It's about you know what we do on behalf. The american people Clearly the president believes in matters And i appreciate him giving me this opportunity and it's another reason why we are all so proud that this is the most diverse administration in history. We've been very busy week in the nation's capital and we're going to start today by walking you through it all here with me now. Is heather long economics correspondent for the washington post heather. Thanks for coming back on the show. Great to be back also with us is my king politics reporter at politico. Maya welcome back to you as well. All right thanks for having me. How the let's start with you. The biden administration is putting forward as six trillion dollar budget. What's in it stuff we've seen before so that infrastructure package is a big part of this budget both physical infrastructure on the roads and the pipes and getting everyone internet as well as what they call the care package in which would excuse expand affordable child care and elder care and paid parental leave in the united states. There's also a really big increase in what's known as discretionary spending so the president's proposing a lot of spending on education research transitioning in the united states to more climate-friendly economy so it's about a sixteen percent increase in nondefense spending and a one point seven so much more modest increase in defense spending the big big takeaway here is. It would be a lot of money next year in particular a six trillion dollar budget and running close to a two trillion dollar deficit. So meaning we're not paying for quite a bit of that spending next year. They're painting it. The administration painting it. It's like a down payment on america's future getting on the right track. Obviously there's a lot of concerns about spending money. We don't actually have okay. I wanna push into one aspect of that now. You said they're getting internet for everyone. And i feel like thirty years ago. In america we would have seen states and governors excited about federal spending that would bring that kind of critical infrastructure to their communities. My are we expecting push-back not only in congress but also at the state level from governors. Who would actually benefit from this kind of spending. Well it's interesting. I think we can absolutely expect pushback in congress and we've already seen that with anything that The by the administration has put forth. That really has a dollar sign attached to it. The immediate response particularly from republicans in congress has been. This is way too expensive. This will bankrupt the country in the name of liberal policy. And it's just not a viable path forward. And i think we've seen that already in the giant gab. I believe it was last valued at about one point. Five trillion dollars in difference between what democrats have proposed and what republicans came back with yet on the state level The need is a little bit different. I think What we saw around the pandemic stimulus payments of the last round a lot of state and local officials. Were saying you know what we actually really do. Need this money. And many of many republican leaders were willing to accept it. There too Just because the need is is very different and people were really hurting. I think on the state and local level in a way that governors were able to see much differently so how this now translates to infrastructure. What this means now for this next round of debate on what exactly infrastructure means how we define it and As heather mentioned of course how we pay for it it certainly will shape the contours of of how different leaders on different levels will respond to heather. Let's come back to the pay for it piece that my ended on there. Maybe this is an indication of why my credit cards look the way they do really. Who cares if we can't pay for it. In the short term isn't the real issue here about stoking. The economy with this kind of spending and also dealing with all of the deferred maintenance on our national infrastructure. You make a great point. Obviously many of the programs that are being proposed or hugely popular such as paid parental. You finally getting the united states to have twelve weeks. Paid parental leave making those critical infrastructure investments. Many of us was as you drive around parts of the country. Feel those nixon the road and those crush. See those bridges. That could really use a repair every day. Not to mention some of these pipes in the ground. I was on the website recently. Trying to figure out if the line waterline to my house is an old lead pipe or not which is a very scary situation for anyone and so but there are costs associated with with spending more money than you have similar to your credit card bill. Where if somebody is at balancing. Every month they are pain. Interest in the united states is borrowing money from other countries right now in order to fund this and we are Ultimately going to have to pay interest on it. And i think the big concern from an economic perspective is. Nobody's saying that we're going to hit that critical point where we can't borrow anymore next year even five years down the line but there is going to be some number that we can't borrow past that it becomes much more expensive to borrow similar to somebody who hasn't paid their credit card. Bill subtly sees that interest rate that borrowing rate. Jump up over time. and so. that's why there you see even in the democratic party voices. Who are warning doesn't really need to be quite this much. I mean the headline on the new york times. This front pages is the biden administration seeking spending levels not seen since world war two so we are talking about a huge huge amount of spending. And that's really the debate. That's going to come down for a lot of moderate democrats. They want they will vote for a number of these programs. But do you vote for at all in one fell swoop. Or do you do something that looks a little bit more like you.
