"$426 million" Discussed on The Rich Eisen Show

"Make the lineup move. They've got pretty good base running, smart base runners. Defensively, they're good. Pitching rotation and bullpen is very good. So, I mean, you look at all aspects of the game. Right now, no, I mean, no weaknesses. And they're just bludgeoning everybody. The thing that could turn into weakness is and this is true for everybody is injuries. And you know, Stanton went on the IL briefly, but he's back in so far, judge and Stanton who you always have to kind of be concerned with. Staying in the lineup so far, both of those guys have had pretty much relatively injury free seasons other than, like I say, stand going on. I all wants, but they've been healthy. So right now, they've got it all. Health pitching, starting pitching, relief pitching, power, on base percentage base running. You don't want to play the Yankees right now. No. Scott last question for you. I know you are obviously a shoe autani guy I read you on Twitter. I am as well by the way. I think he's the best player in baseball. No offense to Mike Trout, but Trump may be a better hitter, but no one's better overall. He's going to have to get paid soon, what kind of and I've read guys like buster only talking about this, but Scott, when the time comes in the next year or two to pay Shohei Ohtani, what are we talking about for a guy who is a legitimately a number one ace and legitimately a top hitter in any line that you put him in, what's his value out there because we've never seen this before? Now we have it. I mean, you look at his teammate, you mentioned Mike Trout as what a $426 million deal. In ohtani can beat you in more ways, no offense, like you said to Mike Trout, but ohtani could beat you in any number of ways. More ways than drought because drought doesn't start every 6 days for the age old. So, you know, again, it comes down to health, but you wonder if you could be the first half a $1 billion guy. First 500 million contract. I don't see why not. It's going to be really interesting when, by the way, he's a free agent after the 2023 season. So tani, he and the angels, this upcoming winner, he'll be eligible for arbitration and then next year, you know, I was where the rubber hits the road. He'll be in his free agency in 2023. And you know, he's interesting with him, you know, I said a little bit ago, judge has made it clear. He's going to sign if and when he hit his free agent market he's made clear it's going to go to the top contract offer ohtani end of last year made it clear he wants to win. And that's where it becomes really interesting with the angels because he's a guy they have to re sign. But Anthony Rendon being there, that 7 year $345 million contract is going to make it really complicated for the angels to fit trout Rendon and ohtani in. And if the angels, you know, they hit the skids again this year. If they don't win, definitely could be looking elsewhere. It's unbelievable what he has done. I mean, as you said, you know, he beats you any which way pitching and hitting. Scott Miller. SiriusXM MLB network radio analyst author just a great dude. Scott always appreciate you hopping on the show, man. Have a great weekend. Dan, you too, my pleasure. Thank you and take care. Awesome stuff there from Scott Miller. I mean, that's the thing though. In art, you're a southern Cal guy and I know you're a Dodger fan, but as a baseball fan, you know, I don't care what uniform this guy wears. And I know you hate the angels being a Dodger fan the way that as a Yankee fan, I hate the mets. But if Shohei Ohtani was wearing the mets color of, I call it puke orange and blue, the reality is I would stop and watch. He's one of those rare guys that you stop and watch. Either when he's at the plate or when he's on the mound. Because he is literally one of the top ten players in both. It's unbelievable. You're a baseline. I've never seen this before when you have to go back to Babe Ruth and by the way, Babe Ruth really never did both in the same year. When he started hitting, they made him stop pitching. He didn't have a career way he did both for multiple years. The way that ohtani's doing right now. I mean, he's worth $50 million, right? Oh, absolutely. Yes. I mean, you can admit it as a Dodger fan. I mean, you gotta admire the guy does regardless of being an angel. When the Dodgers aren't playing, I love to watch the angels. It trout in ohtani. Oh my gosh. A Rendon is always hurt. I mean, I don't know what they're going to do with that guy, but trout and Otani, oh man, you know what they're gonna do with Rendon? Nothing, 'cause they can't get rid of that. Exactly. What a terrible contract, by the way. And that's gonna be an albatross hanging. The way that the Josh Hamilton contract, the way that the Albert Pujols contract, the way that the remember that pitcher Wilson, right? CJ Wilson. That contract. All these contracts that poor Artie Moreno sign, he spends money, but he always gives it to the wrong guys, apparently. Wrong guys, and he's got bad luck. Bad luck. Although everybody knew pools is contract was just idiotic. The Cardinals knew smartly. Let's not give pools that kind of money because they realized a, the whispers about the age, but also you can't give a guy that's like 30, 31 at the time, a ten year contract. And already gave it to him and got burned. But Shohei Ohtani will be 28 years old in a couple of weeks, which means he will be 29 when he hits free agency at the end of next year, prime. He's in his prime. That's an 8 year contract there, right? 8 years, 400 million? Wow. Is that what we're looking at here? Ten years, 500 million? Because I mentioned a name before. You don't think a guy like Steve Cohen with the mets. Who doesn't care how much money it takes to win, right? And the mets are winning by the way. Second best record in baseball behind the Yankees because he hired the right manager and buck showalter a great baseball mind, by the way. And he spent money. He brought in players. He's got a pitching staff. He's got, and by the way, they're winning without, you know, Scherzer's missed half the season, de Grom hasn't pitched yet for the mets, and yet they got the best record in the national league. So look, you know, if you're Steve Cohen and you're worth $14 billion, whatever it is, Shohei Ohtani hits free agency at the end of 2023 and you heard Scott Miller say to him it's all about winning. Why not write him a check for half a $1 billion? And now that you have the DH in the national league, you have the dates and the national league. He can do both. He can do both. Pitch him every 6 days. And then you let him DH. Play a little outfield here and there. I mean, that three run home run he hit to win that or to send that game in texture, anything's a couple of days ago. I mean, unbelievable. Sky is Emily. It's honestly, it's it's mind-blowing.

After all, this is for local governments to use to Recover from the Covid 19 pandemic. Recover from the Covid 19 pandemic. Detroit received the fifth largest amount amongst cities across the nation. So many things to unpack here, and we're going to try to do that and ask you. What are some of the things Detroit should should move on and look. Detroit needs a lot of help in a lot of different ways. The city has come a long way. It's got a long way to go. Um The American rescue plan recover from the covid 19 pandemic. Most of the things that I hear this money Um And the desire to put it to use to Don't really have anything to do with Covid 19. But should that surprise anybody? "Young. Welcome. Welcome at family again for another informative And hopefully interesting hour. Today's topic. We have Is something that a lot of us been talking about in the pits face. And that is what is the difference between CBD and help? So we know that this is a new product that's been in the market and it's increasingly so much especially within the pet industry, and I have a wonderful CBD and effort and her name is Ali Moradi. Hi, Allie. How did you know? Thank you saying she's going to really get into the difference. And how old are the benefits that helps your pets and then what are the things that we're looking for? When we're out in the market and thinking about making those purchases So, Allie, let's get right into it. Once you tell our pet family audience a little bit about yourself. And how did you get in the CBD hemp industry? Certainly do you know it would be my pleasure. Well, I've been a cannabis advocates for 20 years and so When I became pregnant, I thought working in the CBD industry would be the absolute best thing. So I have been Working in the CBD industry now since 2015 Currently I'm with the best team in the world at CBD hemp experts They are above and beyond the call of duty every day. They're awesome. So we work with brands devoted to natural healing and wellness formulation solutions. That's really good to know. Hallie. What is the difference between CBD and Hamp and which one works Best for dogs? Cats or other animals of that nature like horses, for example. So do you know when we look at him versus CBD? First we need to look at what him or industrial him, as it is sometimes referred to is the name of the entire cannabis genius plant minus the high levels of THC. So that's what happened is now CBD. Is the main component of the hemp plant, so the hemp plant can contain up to 65% pure calamity all which is the molecule, of course, that we know a CD and just like how humans are 65% water. When you are extracting the hemp plant. You're getting him out. You know 65 60% CBD. So when you talk about him, you have the parts of the plant that are very CBD rich, which are the flowers and the leaves. Primarily this stem the seeds. They do not contain CBD. And so you will see him seed oil and things of that nature in the marketplace doesn't necessarily contain CBD, says one. Significant point You're gonna want to make sure you're spending your money on is him that contains CBD. Um, When you asked about horses, you would just increase the milligram dosage. For example, I would recommend a 5000 mg dosage for your horse. On Ben. We can also use those same tinctures that we give our animals simply Willie. We can use topic. Lee if they have itchy, patchy Skin. If they have anxiety if they have pain If they have a injured limb, for example, it's also a great remedy for them Topically as well. As systemically, which would be internally. Thank you. That's very informative. And it's good to know that you were able to illustrate her audiences the differences because you and I both had many of discussions and talking about what I like to call fillers. Where it's not really the concentrated amount and so sometimes pet parents. They don't know the difference or there, Mr Inform, and they think they're getting a really pure product. But really, they're not. It's just very loosely or diluted form. And as a result, they may not be getting A true remedy for their pet. Or is that path? The healing that they expect? Is that correct? Correct And, you know, Right now we're trying to change the world of canine and feline out by developing health and wellness products that are well researched, carefully formulated, meticulously crafted with All plant based ingredients to support your pets help naturally without side effects. Absolutely. It's the most important thing is just know that you're taking care of them. And the fact of the matter is, it's not just physical. It's mental. It's psychological. It's even social. Just like us Human party animals se's when they're systemically given CBD on a regular basis. So that being said, what is the best way to use him or CBD when treating path? There's so much information out there, but we definitely want to hear it from no pun intended the horse's mouth off What is the best way to really treat your pet in application? Used it when it comes to CBD. For him. So as we've discussed many times in the past, you know we always want look at the plant as closely as God created that plant for healing. So when we look at CBD, it's great because G W Pharma has spent millions of dollars and done all the research for us, so we know that the dialects safe what it does, and that's just even the isil. It That's isolated CED molecule, however, when we look at a full spectrum Product. We're taking into account an additional 200 plus other cannabinoids that are just beginning to be studied all of their health benefits so that entourage effect of the other cannabinoids along with the CBD, potentially eight's the healing power of the city. So you always If you can't you know, obviously seem it is better than nothing but full spectrum is better than ice Solent. Always because that's how the healing plant was intended. So we know that the the U. S CBD market is really huge. So last year, even in the middle of cold it consumer spent over $426 million And we see that reached to even grow more with the estimate for this year of 620 months, $29 million and still So why do you feel that help Parent see such importance of purchasing products like this? And why do you think it's growing so rapidly? We know that things started skyrocketing back in 2018. At the farm bill. Even with that, why is it hot right now? And then where could pet parents get those type of products from So, um, a few things. I think there is that. Because people have been going through the pandemic. They themselves have proven the concept of CBD, whether it's to themselves or being at home all the time, with their pets being more aware and attuned to their needs and scene. That it's a lot cheaper than the vet a lot cheaper. No side effects. You know, it's just easier. Plus, it's 100% legal. You can ship it right to your door. Why wouldn't you try that? And so I think that's one thing to look at. And another is that Only 20% of the entire United States is actually actively buying CBD, so it's a huge growth market Still And I mean, barely scratching the surface. You barely even find vets that are willing to talk about it. So you know, I had my cat maverick at the bet today, actually, for his dental cleaning, which is always so difficult, he said. Always teeth a really inflamed I said, Okay, I'm gonna put a C B g tincture on his gums, and he didn't even ask me. He just went on about how safe it is. And I said, Oh, I know. And so he said, fun, huh? And so it's cool that you finally get that feedback from the vets where they're aware they're not just scared to talk about it. You know, like, five years ago, this proof of concept concept. It's really what it is. So we're there now, and I feel like it's just the reason it's hot because it works. And they've been giving horrible drugs to our pets all these years, you know For anxiety and everything and it's just a great alternative. And you can tell they're happy. That's all that? Absolutely okay, family. We're talking today about the truth about CBD for your pets with him with our expert, Ali Moradi..

Okay, So you know Havana created that peak. For training. Yes. What do you think about that? Well, I think I think at this point and thank you. Generous. Generous is busy. Generous is dropping The phone. Generous is like, Well, well, why's he better? Why is he a better player Because he's a better play. Okay, Just thank you. What do I think about that? Look, you could look at Trey Young and you could think about his his excitement You could think about his his. Ah, I don't want to call him Steph Curry light, but you look at Trey Young and he's amazing. He's an all star in his own regard. The only knock that she could pretty much put on on Trey is probably his size. In his efficiency. I watched him play. I've watched him play more than any star here more recently over the past few years because I live in Atlanta. I got press credentials. I goto every single game that I can go out to that tree. Young displayed it. But if you're going to ask me right now and maybe long term I'm going to look at at Luka. You can't ignore the size of the guy. You can't It's just facts on facts. I love him. Let's talk to Mike. Mike is calling up from San Diego Mike you on CBS Sports Radio. What's on your mind, Mike? They was going on. I don't I'm here. What's the shoot? But you got to say. So let's say, Ah, we got Luca or Orgy. Honest. I gotta go. Luca Lucas. He's young. The kid is talented. He's he's the future of the MBA. You know? I mean, the guy says the court, like like, you know, like Black Magic. And he's got that in and he's got that fire inside of you, like M. J. You know where you You know, you come off a little bit. You know he's going to take to you so I think he's got that leadership ability and Honest has got some of that, too. But he doesn't have that fire. I could see him. Well, well, well, well, well. Well, Mike. Well, Mike, I got a good thing. Whoa, whoa. I agree with you, Luke over ya, Mitch, but I want to take it easy on The fire and desire. I mean, okay. I mean, you first you maybe go What you said, are Luca has? Ah, you know he has a Michael Jordan firing him. I mean, let's put it this way. Thank you, Mike for calling from San Diego. We got killers in the NBA's. That's how I'd describe it. You Converium sel Westbrook and you could be uber aggressive and trying to get it done. Or you can will. I don't look at yonder Santa Yakubu and go. Oh, well, this is a guy who is. Ah, you know, he's he's afraid. No, I just don't know if his skill set for all of his gifts. I don't know if his skill set translates. That's it. I'm not going to look at ya Honest and say he don't have no firing guy certainly looks like your fire's out there headbutting people. I've seen him angry. Johannes has some Qwilleran um I don't know if he's gonna give him let's give the honest a bowl and crunch time and get a bucket. I don't know if he needs to diversify his game. That's just what it is. The jr sport. We show he wants CBS Sports Radio. Thank you for your calls. We got a lot of calls the last hours Well, people wanted to continue that conversation. But as we continue to talk about the future Of sports. You gotta look to San Diego. I know we can talk about Mike Trout, and we can talk about how amazing he is. And he has $426 million coming his way. On how great he is. But in San Diego right now, We're seeing the explosion. And if you want to talk about something good that has come out of this Major league baseball season. That is a sham. At two months. It is Fernanda LTs Azis junior. Last season. Basically hurt had a back injury this season. He's showing what we can look forward to for the next 10 15 years. It's crazy to think I remember watching his dad in his prime. You couldn't miss him on the field. Fernando Nazis had some gigantic years. I'm just saying you couldn't. You couldn't miss him. And he had an amazing year, one year with the ST Louis Cardinals. I believe 11 time he hit two Grand Slams and Ah in one game. With two home runs in an inning. He's a monster in last night, his son Fernando Tat's junior, hit his first Grand Slam, but things didn't go the way you would think they would. And Fernando Tazi is junior. He is the future. Of baseball. Last night. Unfortunately, The Padres were 10 3 in the eighth inning, Fernando Totti's already hit a home run to give them that lead. And in all the 30 pitch. He swung. He missed the take sign to go ahead and just try to get a walk. He swung. He hit a grand slam. And the last time I checked the point of damn baseball, if you're a hitter is to put the barrel of the bat on the baseball. But we know baseball has thes unwritten rules. You know, if you're young player, it's well, you need to be Ah, scene and not her. And sometimes the play of Fernando Nazis. Junior. Sometimes it's a little too loud for people. When I see it, it actually looks like a guy having fun. He doesn't look stuffy. And bottom line is.

But Mookie Betts is getting paid. And we've had plenty of players who have come down the line who have come down pipe. They've got their money. And it didn't work out for them or their organization. Whether it be a col. Crawford And Albert Pool halls. David, right? You know how How was some of the more recent contracts? How are they going to roll and how they're going to turn out over the next 10 years? The Yankees are paying Garrett Cole $324 million over the next nine years. Mike Trout. I think he can physically hold up and do a little bit more. Then Mookie Betts, 12 years, $426 million. 2030 Many Machado 10 years 300 million bucks. Bryce Harper Taking him to 2031. 13 years, 330 million. We've seen a lot of players get contracts over the years and not necessarily live up to the billing. We can talk about cerebral contracts. Look Albert Haynesworth about money from the Redskins and just basically took the bonus and quit. And then we have players who play and disappear. We have players who get hurt. You know what? Every single week I share and I come through with a top six list. And today. Because Mookie Betts got all of this money. It made me think about players who've gotten paid. And haven't lived up to the billing. Especially in recent memory..
