Cardiologists say iPhone 12 could pose danger to people with defibrillators, pacemakers
"This was also shared on the The discord we talked about this a couple of weeks back just kind of highlighting it as a news article but now there's actually been a little bit more study into this phenomenon. I'm not going to go too much into this Henry ford cardiologists find iphone. Twelve magnet deactivates implantable cardiac devices. So this has been just a just a little bit more medical data a little bit more. Study this is from february fourth. They held a media briefing. I'm talking about differ. Defin- brewers and the iphone twelve. And that this is a little bit different than what apple was trying to claim apple. Apple's claim is. We've always said that you know the electrical and magnetic interference from pocket. Computers is a concern for people who have pace makers other durable medical equipment. And so they they don't feel that there's any additional I'm totally paraphrasing apple. Pr here and please don't take this is like this is a direct quote from apple and they said like whatever So from what. I read on apple. Pr apple forums is. Apple doesn't feel like they need to make any additional disclosure to the safety of their products. Cardiologists are are pointing to a slightly different relationship because the iphone twelve Magnets for their wireless charging system are more powerful that this is a slightly different situation than previous generations of iphone. We mentioned it. We had a very similar conversation. When this i was brought up that this could be an issue. My dad doesn't have a pacemaker. But is absolutely that person who would take a smaller phone and put it in a shirt or jacket pocket. So i feel this is just another piece of evidence. A proper group of cardiologists held a medical briefing. That you can share with your family and friends just two point two. Hey you have a pacemaker. If you buy the iphone twelve keep it in your pocket. And then we're good. But i do feel like a just a little additional disclosure. A conversation seems to be warranted. As the design of the iphone twelve is different than the than the magnetic design of the iphone eleven. I think that's fair. It's not a don't buy almost gosh so scary. It's gonna kill your grandparents. That's not it. But i feel like yeah. It's fair to have that conversation with your family and friends
Democrats to Unveil Up to $3,600 Child Tax Credit as Part of Stimulus Bill
"House committees are now hammering out the details of the nearly $2 Trillion Coburn relief package. Put forward by President Biden. Children are at the center of one of these pieces of the package. And with more on that I'm joined by ABC s Elizabeth Scholesy in Washington. Elizabeth Great to have you with us. As usual. This is expected to be direct cash payments to American families with kids. Hey, yeah, That's right. So great to be with you. This is a new proposals that we put forward today by Democrats in the House Ways and Means Committee, essentially calling for an expansion of the child tax credit, So the breaks out is essentially Asking for $3600 per child under the age of six and $3000 per child between the ages of six and 17 and the Democrats say this is holding true to Biden's promise to expand this chap this child tax credit. And to help alleviate poverty. No, there is research showing that this would help cut child poverty and half That's according to a Columbia University study, and this is part of a broader effort as we know of that nearly $2 trillion covert relief package, but certainly a Democratic priority here that have gotten some Republicans support. We saw similar opportunities will put forward by Senator Mitt Romney last week. So this is an interesting way to get more cash to families, especially lower income families and CBS interview yesterday, the president indicated he He doesn't really want to come off that 1.9 trillion mark, but is willing to negotiate with regard to income eligibility. That's exactly right. Joe Biden is holding true to the demand for $1400 stimulus checks. He says he will not go up go below that dollar amount, but he is willing to negotiate on who gets those checks. Currently, the proposal says, If you get more if you earn more than $75,000, you would start phasing out and you would not qualify their own individual That would be $150,000 per couple. So I didn't sound out open to maybe having that income threshold deal little bit lower. Notably those. Some Democrats are pushing back on that idea. We did hear from Senator Bernie Sanders and said anyone who got a stimulus check under President Trump. Should also get a check under President

"You spend the more you hump sure on the other end of the spectrum. Nokia is debut in an incredibly affordable device the What are they calling it. The nokia one point four. How about that for the product name. Y'all just take the one point four or one point five and one point six. I don't mind it actually keep it simple. I don't know how memorable it is now. They're calling this device family friendly and the reason being is because it prioritises the type of people are doing right now trapped at home Covid style everyone needs to have a device. Everyone's board and so they think for family. Friendly means it's affordable enough. You could get it for anybody in the house including youngsters. I feel like that's the pitch. The thing is starting at ninety nine euros. Ninety nine euros it's gonna feature a six point five inch five one inch lcd panel with a tiny little notch on. They're not a big one. Little sort of a teardrop style notch is not going to be very powerful. Snapdragon two one five. Sec however it will have a four thousand million our battery which for family usage. I suppose is what you would want. Unfortunately only five watt charging eight megapixel camera and android ten go edition. So hopefully the lightweight android. We'll be okay with the Less than flagship performance but the price point is what really stood out to me. And the family friendly branding and also the device doesn't look half bad for hundred bucks or good showcases how far we've come in smartphones sony. We have some sony news. They are apparently and this is no surprise. They apparently have been selling the playstation five at a loss. This is not unprecedented. We've seen this in the past all kinds of hardware where they in order to get. Get out the gate with big numbers and when you have a business model where you're going to monetize down the road you can you you you hit a certain price point and they probably decided look we gotta be at four ninety nine. Usd and they said for the digital model. We gotta be here or whatever however they decided. I think there is a big psychological gap between four ninety nine five nine nine. Oh yeah even though. It's just a number but it's a psychological get you know what i'm saying. And they do make their money back through peripherals. Subscriptions subscriptions and software. i mean obviously. They sell their own game. Sony has its own games and they make a percentage off the other game sales and yeah they're they're diversified and. I think that you can even buy movies on there. So yeah there's a lot of ways in which they make money and also it's these things have a long shelf life so it's not just making money tomorrow off software and other services. It's will now. You're in the house by the tv for the next five years. Potentially maybe longer you saw people trying to play cyberpunk on the first generation. Ps four and so that goes to show you how long these things remain in service to their users. Sony coming out to you. Know come into battle up against microsoft. They got to come in aggressive and the actual figure hasn't been broken out early. Speculation was that the cost to make the device was actually going to be around four hundred and fifty dollars and then later on speculation change to. Nah they're probably going to be lucky to break even right around five hundred and definitely lose money on the disc model at four hundred..

Well say goodbye to giant camera bulge. So by using a periscope styled design similar to what we've seen on those zoom lenses you get all those various mirrors in there and you can build the whole camera in the body and have the image bouncing around via prism type devices. It's a crazy design. If you scroll down you can see the actual patent. It looks very cool in the original render but also if you look at the patent complexity of this thing now apparently this can actually captured in two directions. Because it's got these these dual these are dual modules that pop out of the top meaning that you could shoot a three hundred sixty degree image out here as well with only a one hundred and eighty degree turn it's capturing it can capture a really wide section and look at how the components would be housed on the inside of the smartphone body. Because now you can get everything going with your sensor and everything else instead of having to have it sandwiched onto the back of the device. This would obviously be very hard to. And then you've got the same questions that people have had in the past about the motorization of the camera module the number of times you can do it the durability and such but i know apple's capable of it because they've In the past showed shown off some pretty cool designs with the motorized type of setup. Now the only problem here is. I don't know how big of a headache. The rear facing camera is the people from a design perspective. Of course the ultra minimalist would love to see just the samaj just smooth back on the phone. Noble jr. that'd be kind of wild actually. Yeah but i think most people are kind of used to the idea and in many cases recently the camera hump has kind of become Some sort of point of pride in that the bigger your home the more expensive your phone would you disagree with that. Three thousand dollars definitely seems targeted not at regular consumers. So you know some of them are going to do it with any apple product. They got on it. But they're targeting professionals i suppose potentially developers and commercial applications. The other headset. That comes to mind. Here's a comparison. Is the microsoft hollow lens headset. which is five hundred dollars. I believe however that one is augmented reality only and it's really targeted only at at industrial applications as you can see here. I don't know. I suppose developers probably utilize it as well now. The apple products supposedly is going to have some a are elements to go with the vr elements. I don't know how much of it is going to. I don't know what that ratio is going to be. They've obviously done some significant investments in the ar side. But this looks to be vr. I headset and that makes it a very expensive. Vr headset arguably the most expensive on the market. If it's between three thousand thirty five hundred although there's probably commercially available products that i'm unaware of that are at that particular price point. I'm sure they exist. So it's going to be high end it's potentially coming out in twenty twenty two. That's a rumor at least sitting over here. twenty twenty two or is that just for their glasses. We'll nobody knows at this point. I suppose this is all Relative to these reports twenty twenty twenty two sounds about right to me. Maybe we could catch a glimpse a little sooner. What do you say headset in. Two thousand twenty. Oh yeah i was right. Twenty twenty two and the glasses by twenty twenty three. That's the hope. Though so these things can get delayed or take longer. We'll have to wait and see what transpires but it is an odd. I don't know. I just apple in vr. Because it's not a huge gaming background in. Vr has been really gaming targeted and focused for now. So it's it's a bit odd I'm not sure how they're going to pitch. It seems like the better bet. Sure but i suppose you need some sort of play. They can't be completely me. Getting interested in crypto will. It's like you want to know you. Can you gotta be want to be involved a little bit and if apple if apple even even is doing some really small scale to learn as a project to learn so that they have some vr expertise just in case. That's the thing that takes off from. Maybe you're hedging your bets here. Sure like a hedge fund today sponsor hellofresh. You know. I know we gotta eat healthy. We gotta eat better and we gotta every so often throw together a meal where we see the ingredients that go into it. You can't Strictly be ordering up every so often you got to lay down the the utensils you might set the table and you gotta put some out there. That's appetizing that you your loved ones your spouse your family. They're going to be interested in. Oh yeah and let me tell you some a lot of people. They don't know where to start including myself. I got a couple of goto type dishes. I can make but beyond that. The.

A little more about the information given some some details on apple's alleged upcoming mixed reality headset sources have more details including a rendering this time of what they say is apple's vr headset. A lot of the details are similar to what we heard from mark gurman of bloomberg earlier last month It's expected to use fabric. Mesh run on an apple design chip cost a lot. Although we've got a number as much as three thousand dollars the headset may have more than a dozen cameras for hand. Tracking lied are sensors for room. I because we have talked about this before. This rumor has been swirling. I mean really for years but it seems to be more of a reality than ever. Is that three thousand dollar price points now again. It's a rumor and yes. Apple tends to make things that are similar to other products that are more expensive and then says but it's apple so you know we can do that sort of thing. Three thousand dollars. Oh my goodness Compare that to oculus to for three hundred dollars. That's a crazy price point. I don't know how the company could get away with such a thing.

I know you are and I know because I see you rocking it every day on Instagram video. So I've been trying to get you on the show and I'm so happy to have you and let me introduce you to the audience tosin is a professional accountant with over ten years of experience spanning across accounting audit financial management and Taxation. Spoken at tedx and It's featured on BBC UK Al jazeera's Guardian as well as others. And of course you can hear her and see her every day on many Africa on a gram but doesn't take a minute and fill any further tidbits about your life. So Monday Africa started as a passion project you just wanted to teach people about money that you got my first degree at age of twenty. And even that was an accountant. I struggled with my money. I was living from hand-to-mouth. So I wanted to change that for other people to didn't have to make the same mistakes. I did so after letting about right and district and speaks and wanted to speak to a Nigerian Market using the same language using the same examples things that you can relate to and that's what we did. So we have over 4,000 subscribers in our platform and we've reached over a hundred thousand people online and offline. I'm really excited about it. That is exciting. I'm curious when you started it. You probably had some Vision wage. But in reality things went a different direction, but we're successful. I'm curious. What did you think you were going to be doing with it versus what you are doing or or was it straight on target to be very honest. It wasn't really just the hobby. So I just opened an Instagram page and I just wanted to share my lessons with people right? I just turned Thirty and I was like gosh, you know, I made so much so many mistakes and when I was younger, I just wanted to teach people and I just said I'd posted and like wildfire 1000 followers then we so 5,000 followers. Then we saw $10,000 then then Instagram had only one that needs to be viewers. You couldn't do more than that, right? So they were like, oh totally what more we want more and then we said we go let's go and let's have horses were being as you know, let's have physical classes. So in all honesty, I did not see any growth this way. It really just happened the markets responded positively and they were responding to them as well and just collect get creating products for them. You know, I I can totally picture that wage. Cuz I mean here I am in little old Bangkok and I really know nothing about Nigeria and certainly about the Nigeria Market. Although I'm learning a lot these days as I was talking about with you before but but I can say is that when I saw you on the video it just you know, it makes you just want to stand up and cheer because you know, you bring so much energy so much passion to what you're doing and you know, sometimes you know, you're just talking about Bank earnings, but you know, you still bring that energy and passion to it. And so I always try to make a comment like whoa. Yes awesome. So I imagine that it's growing because I think you do have a lot of passion and I think you share that with the audience. So that's also one of the reasons why I wanted to get you on the show to share some of that passion with my audience. ATT I'm very excited to be here. Yeah. Well, so let's get started. Well now it's time to show your worst investment ever and since no one ever goes into their worst investment thinking it will be home. Tell us a bit about the circumstances leading up to it and then tell us your story a fantastic. So this was in 2017 and at this time of the year off, right the Bitcoin was gaining so much momentum at the beginning of the year was like $2,000 and it was $3,000 and it kept growing now remember I'm straight account and I only I know about basic things and I know the stock market and all this other thing but click on just sounded very futuristic. It's not a very abstract. I just don't understand it now. He's a friend and he always tells me about his really oh I made so much money this I did that I did that. I wanted a piece of the pie right? So what I was accustomed to I a mutual funds or stocks, I think know I got a job. I do understand it. So I was living on my friends knowledge, right it kept telling me about all his wings and then in the midst of it all it went from two thousand to five thousand. I remember when it hits $10,000 and I can't wait anymore. I need to get it. So I reached out to him and I said listen, I want into some of those pie and was like definitely that's not a problem we can get you in now at this point, but Bitcoin now was about $18,000 way about so I handed over a large sum of money Andrew huge sum of money to this person to help me investigate cause I thoughts because I was so futuristics. I can understand it. I wouldn't know how to navigate it and I needed to actually speak to this person that actually knows how to go about it. And
3000-Year-Old Orbs Provide A Glimpse of Ancient Sport
"Ballgames are a big source of modern amusement even amid pandemic but they're nothing new consider for instance, a forty, five, hundred year old linen ball found in a child's tomb in Egypt, or thirty, six, hundred year old rubber balls from Central America where the contest called for players to slam the ball with their hips. Now, researchers have pinned to date on what they say are the oldest sporting balls in Europe or Asia three spheres dug up from the tombs of horsemen in the desert of northwestern China crafted three millennia ago we're quite sure that they were used Houston. Some kind of Bat, and Ball Game Patrick Birdman is an archaeologist at. The University of Zurich and part of the team that analyzed the ancient sporting equipment. The balls are about three inches in diameter wrapped in rawhide leather and stuffed with leather strips in hair, and then also when you look at the Chinese character of fall itself, it's quite interesting because this character is made up of the ideograms of hair and letter details and photos of the balls appear in the Journal of Archaeological Science reports as for how this ancient ball and stick game was played. It could be something that Polo but it could also be something like like an early form of hockey or goal, but since we don't have any. Textual evidence and we don't have any sticks from the same period we don't really know. Regardless of the Sport Fared Min and his colleagues write that a ball game of any kind would have provided excellent exercise and military training to.

George Washington University in Washington, DC to go online-only in fall
"University undergrad students will take most courses online this fall. The decision was just announced a few hours ago. It's a major reversal for the school, which had been engaged in extensive planning efforts aimed at reopening the campus next month. Tonight's school officials say all undergraduate courses with limited exceptions will be taught online for the entire fall semester. As of last week, 40% of the faculty had decided against teaching in person. The Student Association faculty Association and six student groups had asked the school last week to move all fall semester classes. Online undergrads who don't return to campus will get a 10% discount on fall tuition. That amounts to about $3000. Most graduate programs will also be delivered online, although some graduate courses will be held in person. 8 22
Gold price hits record high amid fears over coronavirus crisis
"Today, reaching new record highs and here to take us through. Why that's happening is our chief markets editor. She's scarlet food scholar. What is going on? Oh, David. I mean, this is a story that's been going on for a couple of weeks here, But today we did see gold reaching new high. The next stop is $2000 Alex, Of course, we did surpass the highs we saw. In September of 2011 and we say both gold and a silver on a tear here Now the stock of the R If we had to pick one would be G l D. This is the biggest gold. It's trading at a nine year high and DLD tops the leaderboard inflows. Last week it attracted $1.3 billion inflows. Bringing your to date flows to more than 18.5 $1,000,000,000 the second most after the vanguard S and P 500 fund. Why now, While we've got the Federal Reserve meeting this week, and the central bank will almost be guaranteed to signal lower for longer. A lot of investors are interpreting that to mean lower forever that is weighing down on the dollar, weaker dollar, stronger commodity prices like gold. In addition, you've got the new co bit outbreaks across the United States and, of course, renewed U. S. China tensions So in the same regard, we're also seeing Bitcoin get a bid higher as well. Bitcoin trading above 10,000 $10,000 at the moment now within the S and P 500 year looking for companies, Newmont Mining is the on ly gold miner there. It is higher seventh day of gains to a record high. Also among foreign company stocks. Common stocks traded in the U. S. Nine out of the 10 most actively traded our gold or precious metals miners and can see some of the names right. There was this guy when you talk about a weaker dollar and people buying gold, traditionally, one would think that's a hedge against inflation. Now inflation hasn't been anywhere for a long time. Should we be looking out for the possibly inflation is down the road. While people are definitely talking about it all that massive fiscal stimulus has got people worried that there will be inflation down the road. It's been deflationary so far, but we've seen break even rates start to creep higher and Bond yields are negative on a real basis when adjusted for inflation, So you've got negative really yields adding to the situation one thing to note here even as we talk about gold prices, heading to new record highs and potentially getting to 2000 on a nominal basis, Yes, there at a new level, but when you adjust for inflation there, so below the levels we saw in 2011 and far below the levels that we saw in the 19 eighties, so there is room to rise further. And that's why you see a lot of the analyst projecting higher prices for Gold Bank of America, for instance, sees gold getting 2 $3000 over the next year and 1/2 you B s a little bit more conservative, Forecasting $2000 by the end of September 2000 is definitely the next level Toe Watch. We don't know whether will happen in days or in a couple of weeks. A lot of talk there about how there might be some consolidation in the weeks ahead before we eventually get to that 2000.
