This is episode 979 welcome to the daily meditation podcast. I am honored you are here as you get ready to meditate or maybe you're out walking or getting ready to go to sleep. However you're listening in is just fine in today's episode. You're going to discover a meditation technique to help you manage tension in relationships. And this is part of a 7 part meditation series we're exploring this week on how to manage relationships using meditation, techniques, I'm Mary meckley, and I'm a meditation teacher who shares a different meditation technique every single day on the podcast. And each technique is customized around the weekly theme. So we explore a topic in depth and using different techniques to see what might work best. And so you get to go a little deeper into a topic so you can really master the quality. And if you like full complete half hour guided meditations or you want to learn how to meditate, you can join me over at my website at sip and om dot com SIP AND OM dot com and there I release a daily meditation using the techniques, but I customize it into a full guided experience. You also get a journal and a slowdown guide with each series. So you can explore a topic a little deeper. And you get access to over 900 guided meditations when you go over there. So again, that's at sip and home dot com. You can try this membership site out for free. It's two weeks free. Well for today's meditation technique right here on the podcast. For you to take this technique and your own meditation, it is going to be a mudra technique. Now, mudras are a way you position your hands. In a particular way that activates your brain and this affects your nervous system, it's so similar to yoga or accu pressure. So with your hands with both hands, you have the option to do this mudra. Now you don't have to do the mood, right? You can still listen to the guided. Part of this meditation, but the mudra is fun to do. It helps to make your meditations just that much more dynamic. And one of the best things about doing mudras in particular is that you can do them when you're not sitting down meditating. So you could do this mudra when you're experiencing a lot of stress with a particular relationship. The next time you see that person who really brings you down, you could do this mudra to support you. The name of this mudra is called the rudra mudra. And it is simple to do, as I mentioned, all you're going to do is touch your ring finger and your index finger together with your thumb, so touch your ring finger and your index finger to your thumb. And that's it. You do this with both hands. Facing your hands on your lap with your palms upward. Now your little finger and middle finger will just be hanging out more gently. You don't have to force them to be straight or anything. Sometimes you'll find with mudras at your fingers might not be so flexible. So just do the best you can. Now this mudra, you could do three times a day and you can do it for up to about 6 minutes a time will give you some great benefits. Now every mudra, as I mentioned, it affects your body and your nervous system in a particular way. Well, this mudra helps to support digestion and your stomach. And it also helps you to feel confident so try this mudra to feel confident and to feel strong and empowered, this is a moja to help you get rid of those butterflies. You might get in your stomach when you think about a particular relationship. So you can hold the smoother and as you meditate, here's what I encourage you to focus on. Focus on listening, listen to your body, where you're harboring your stress and your tension and think about the thoughts you were thinking, that may have triggered that stress and tension. This week we've been exploring how relationships are pivotal to your health and wellness because one of the top stressors out there is relationships and so as you focus on relationships this week, consider listening to your thoughts. So there's a mind body connection going on that science is showing is real. The thoughts we think and how we feel, influences your health. It influences your organs and how you age your vitality. So, as you sit down in your meditation, you could hold this mudra, the root run mudra, simply touching your thumb to your pointing finger and your ring finger, doing that with both hand, and considering how you're feeling in your body when you think of a particular relationship, bring it to mind, think about a particular relationship maybe one that lifts you up, or one that maybe doesn't feel as though things are going so well with this particular relationship these days. And notice how you feel in your body as you hold this mudra. So take this into your meditation, sit for as long as you feel good doing so always leave your meditation on a high note. And as always, you are so worth slowing down for.

"This is episode 979. Welcome to the daily meditation podcast. I'm excited to share with you today's episode. You'll be discovering a meditation technique to help you manage relationships. Relationships that are nurturing to you as well as relationships that may bring you down and this is part 5 in our 7 part meditation series on managing relationships and how relationships impact your health using meditation, techniques, and I'm Mary meckley, I share a different meditation technique every day on the podcast and each technique is customized around a weekly theme. So you get to explore a particular topic in depth. So you can really focus and master it as you go throughout the week and I offer guided meditations where you're guided through a half hour meditation over at my website at sip and ohm dot com. It's SIP, a and D O M dot com. And there you can find two weeks free. You could try a meditation membership site and you have access there to over 900 meditations that are completely guided. So if you enjoy being guided, you might like that. That's where I'd take you deeper into the full meditation. And I offer a journal and a customized guide with all the techniques that I mentioned here on the podcast, laid out nicely for you so you can see them and remember if you couldn't remember what was that breathing technique and everything is there at your fingertips. Again, you can try it for two weeks free if you like to go a little deeper with your meditation ritual. Well, I am going to share with you as I mentioned, a technique, and on day 5, which is usually a Thursday if you're following this in sequence. Of course you can listen to these meditations in any order you want. But on day 5, I like to share with you a chakra technique. And you don't really need to know so much about chakras. But the main point is to focus on a particular chakra and notice this aspect of yourself. Chakras are simply considered to be different areas in your body that harbor your emotions, your memories and so it helps you to focus on a particular chakra sometimes. To notice how your managing a particular area of your life and as you focus on relationships this week and your health, the 5th chakra is all about a deep, sense of inner calm. That really only comes with being really a tuned to yourself and throughout this week we explored how it's important to notice how you feel in your body. How your different emotions make you feel how different relationships you have make you feel and to listen to that and of course to listen to those you're in a relationship with, listening is one of the best ways to improve any relationship. Many people feel if you ask them what went wrong in a particular relationship that they ended, they'll often say they just didn't feel appreciated, they didn't feel listened to or heard. So give your relationships the gift of listening this week and give yourself the gift of listening to how you're doing, how you're managing different emotions. So the 5th chakra is right at your throat and your neck. And it influences your voice, the quality of your voice, and your throat, and how you communicate. And when you feel grounded and excited about your life and you feel a sense of connection in your world, you naturally want to share more of yourself with others. Share your gifts and talents with others. And if you're not feeling so grounded or feeling connected with others or excited about your life, you can feel as though you've lost your voice. You just feel as though you're not being heard, you're not focused anymore and you just feel as though you don't have anything to give. So you're going to explore a technique that you can do when you sit down on your own and meditate or you could do this technique as you go about your day. You can just focus on the technique. And I want to mention to you as we've been exploring how relationships, which are one of the top stressors when you're not in a good relationship, or you have difficulty with relationships in general, this is one of the top stressors. I want to share with you some research regarding your chronological age versus your biological age. There's been some research and a link to this in this podcast episode on my website at sipping ome dot com. For this series, the relationship series, there is an article I came across that shows research about how we already know that different people age differently, some people seem to age faster biologically than their chronological age. Well,

A highlight from Encore - Dr. Lisa Mosconi - Whats Nutrition Got to Do with Brain Health and Memory?

"Hello, I'm Ariel, and I'll be your guide as we go inside the head of some of the world's most extraordinary brain scientists, psychologists, meditators, those who are skilled in the mental art. And we're going to learn both from their cutting edge work and their own human experience, how our brains work, how to optimize them, and how to manage the crazy in all of our minds. Today I have an amazing guest, doctor Lisa moscone. She's a neuroscientist and a researcher on the extraordinary relationships between the brain and food. She's both extremely well versed in the brain and how it works. So hear about her background of research in Alzheimer's and other work. And she also has a degree in nutrition. And so her particular area of expertise is understanding the intersection between the two. So today Lisa's going to tell us all about our brain on food, what to eat, what to avoid, and how to supercharge our mental spaces. Welcome, Lisa. Hi. Thank you so much for having me. My absolute pleasure. Can you start by giving us a little bit of background on yourself and how you got into this work? Sure. My background is really that I both and my clients are nuclear physicists. Like both of them. It's quite a thing. Showing up their way with very interesting and my mom used to teach nuclear physics to students but then transfer to medicine and they want to work and look their medicine. So it was immediately drawn to work that field, which is delayed code for brain imaging. And some of the very, very early age I really wanted to study the brain. I'm a little bit of a nerd. Declare that very openly and declare that I'm really, really interested in the brain. And that's in part because my grandmother developed Alzheimer's disease, the diagnosis. We got something to be adventurous in her 80s. And then her two sisters also developed the same condition in their brother. Which was quite like, oh, so in my family, it really attacked women brain. More than membranes and my mom is super healthy. She's doing all the things I'm telling her to do. It's just not touching sugar. She's doing yoga. She's really big and yoga and meditation and super healthy. But so I really wanted to have answers in the solutions. So I did a dual PhD

"So in today's episode, I'm going to share with you a breathing technique that you can do to help you manage relationships and I encourage you to share this breathing technique with loved ones. People who you're in a very close, meaningful relationship with, to help manage stress. And I promised you in yesterday's episode that I would layer the affirmation that we did yesterday, right along with today's breathing technique. And so that is what we'll be doing. But I first want to share with you a little bit about what we've been exploring this week in regard to your health and how relationships have a direct influence on your health and well-being. And as I mentioned to you earlier in this series, I've been following the works and reading a book by doctor Elizabeth Blackburn, and she's a Nobel Peace Prize winner. She shared the Nobel Peace Prize in her research on telomeres, and a little about telomeres is that there has been a lot of research recently. Where researchers have found that the brain definitely sends nerves directly to organs of the immune system and not just to the heart and the lower gut. In that way too, the brain is influencing the body. This is a quote from doctor Elizabeth Blackburn, and so in her research, she discovered that medicine has been successful by treating disease in a specific way once the damage is done. But as she continues to say, doctor Blackburn says, telomere length integrates a lot of factors together and gives you an overall picture of risk. For what is now emerging as a lot of diseases that tend to occur, do so together such as diabetes and heart disease. So what this means for you is that a telomere is like a protective cap at the end of chromosomes. So your chromosomes in your cells and your chromosomes are what carry the genetic information. So you could think of telomeres as buffers. They're like the caps at the tips of shoelaces. If you lose those tips, the in start frame. And so what one of the number one stress triggers for most people is relationships. And so as you focus on relationships this week, maybe there's a relationship that you're having some challenges with, it could be a relationship at work. With a friend, a family member, a child, a sibling, a romantic partner, whatever it is, the relationship can cause so much stress that it can impact your health. So as you do, that breathing technique today, which I encourage you to sit down in your meditation space and do or do it while you're out walking, it's fine. It's all good. Just do it. See how this works for you. As you do it, focus on, noticing how your thoughts are influencing the way you feel in your body. This has a direct influence on your health. And so this is the breathing technique. So we did the affirmation, listen, listen, listen. Yesterday. If you're listening to us, in fact, for the first time, no worries if this is the first episode you've listened to, you can listen to these techniques and do the meditations in any order you want. They don't follow any sequence. But I do like to layer in the techniques together. So I'm layering in the affirmation from yesterday's episode with the breathing technique for today. So, this is the breathing technique. I'll just guide you through it once and then you go and do it. Make sure you do this technique. You could do this technique as you manage your health and how you feel when you're challenged in your relationships. So, you're going to be listening to yourself. And you're going to listen to yourself on many different levels. You're going to first start off listening to how you feel emotionally at this moment when you consider

This is episode 976 welcome to the daily meditation podcast. I honor you for giving yourself permission to slow down and connect to the best part of who you are. In today's episode, you're going to be guided, using an affirmation, meditation technique, that is simple yet powerful, in helping you manage your relationships. And this is part two of our 7 part relationship series and you'll be guided using different meditation techniques throughout this series to help you manage relationships. And this is a series helping you to manage your health as well because relationships and health are enter twined their interconnected and when your relationships are going really well, this can contribute to you enjoying vibrant health. And when your relationships aren't going so well, you can notice your health, deteriorate, relationship stress is one of the top stressors out there and with the stress comes inflammation, which leads to major diseases such as cancer, heart, disease, so this is a very important series. Relationships and your health. Two of the ways that you can either lengthen your telomeres or shorten them. Now I mentioned all about telomeres in yesterday's episode because I'm reading a book by Elizabeth, Blackburn, who shares a Nobel Prize for her research in telomeres as they represent how we age, and when you're under a lot of stress and we already know relationship stress is one of the top stressors out there. When we're under a lot of stress, our telomeres shorten and you could think of telomeres as the caps on the end of your chromosomes, so if you think of a shoelace and the cap that goes on the end of a shoelace, well, you can think of your chromosomes in a similar way. So when the cap is long, the telomeres are long holding those chromosome strands together and the stress shortens them and when you have healthy lifestyle habits, including great relationships, this lengthens your telomeres, and you can see this quite clearly in hospitals where people who are experiencing a serious disease or illness heal faster when they have lots of nurturing care. Everybody could be eating the same healthy food, the same diet, but it's the interaction, the positive interaction with caregivers that helps to speed the healing process. You can especially see this with newborn babies. Who are in incubators and they're not thriving as much if they're not being handled as much. So there's an effort to really still touch and handle those babies while they're still in incubators. So there's a lot of research on the touch and human interaction. And helping us heal faster and better and to be stronger and more confident and many other ways, relationships improve every area of your life. So, as you do, the technique today is an affirmation and this is a tool you could use when you are interacting in a relationship regardless of whether it's a relationship with coworkers, your boss, a loved one, a spouse, your children, even a neighbor, you can use this affirmation to do something very important to help improve the relationship, and that is to listen. So, in this affirmation, you're actually going to repeat the word, listen three times, so you'll say, listen, listen, listen. And into tomorrow's episode, I'm going to layer this affirmation technique with your breathing technique. So it'll all come together as you layer it into tomorrow's meditation, but for today, I want you to really emphasize the power of listening, in a relationship. And listening to yourself as well, listening to your thoughts, your

That may be financial wealth. It may be health, it may be relationships. It may be finding your passion and purpose. "You pursue your purpose and passion in life. And in today's episode, you're going to be guided as you layer together the different meditation techniques we've explored all week long into a beautiful conscious living flow. So consider the kind of abundance you want to usher into your life as you do the meditation today. And GV provided you with a mindset flow you started off the series with a abundance. Shifting from scarcity to a limitless mindset, and then you switched over to identity. Who must you become? To achieve what you're pursuing, next, you explored, possibility, what must be possible in order for you to achieve your purpose. Then you explored vision. Connecting your purpose and heart to the vision of what you want to do in the world. And your vision is all about impact, and that leads you to flow in yesterday's episode you were guided in a beautiful, flow meditation, flow is when you feel as though a sea of synchronicity starts to happen. People come to you situations present themselves, and things begin to come together in your life when you're focused exclusively on your purpose. Today, you are guided in opportunity, opportunity is all about receiving being receptive to the opportunities that begin to come your way. You may have opportunities flowing your way on a regular basis. It's only when you begin to feel this flow in your life. That you open yourself up to these opportunities, so things that may always have been there, you now begin to notice them for what they are. This is your chance to seize them. This is you living in flow with the opportunities all around you as you follow your purpose. What you were meant to do and to be. So as you settle yourself down and make yourself nice and comfortable, I want to share with you that JV is offering a 12 month program where you are invited to live more consciously with JV's mentoring to unlock your true potential and to rapidly grow yourself and your business, your relationships, your health, whatever abundance means to you. And you do this well, enjoying your life, you can find out more about that in the show notes. To this episode, it is called the school of abundance. So now let's usher in abundance. Write this moment right here right now. As you're seated, spine straight, eyes gently uplifted. Gently notice an upward shift in your mood as you uplift your eyes. Notice where you're holding any tension in your body and release it as best as you can. Knowing you're working with your mood, your emotions, your physical body, every time you meditate. So when you're experiencing difficulty motions or a little tension or tightness in your body, go at your own pace as you begin to calm your mind and relax your body. Some days you're able to do this more quickly than other days. Honor today. Begin to notice the rhythm and flow of your breath. On your next inhale, mentally affirm, I am a limitless conscious millionaire. Maybe this is a relationship millionaire. Or a health millionaire

"Welcome to episode 2835 of the daily meditation podcast. I'm Mary meckley, and I welcome you to day three of the series we're exploring this week. This week, you are being guided in a master course by JV crumb the third. We're following along with his principles. To create a conscious living mindset. You are inviting abundance into your life. This may be financial abundance. Health, relationships, it may be fully living out your purpose. So as you get ready to wind down the first month of this brand new year, I wanted to treat you to something extra special, so I hope you enjoyed the interview with JV. In day one of this week's series. So far, you have explored two of the conscious living mindset principles. Today, you're going to be introduced to the third principle. You started off with abundance. Inviting abundance into your life, the way you need it most. Identifying how to achieve what it is you're pursuing. Creating this identity shift that allows you to focus exclusively on your priority. Today, you're going to be exploring as you're guided in a meditation, what is possible, what must be possible in order for you to achieve the abundance you are inviting into your life. JV stresses that in order to do this, you must come to a certain conclusion first. Consider others who have gone before you. Think about others who've achieved what it is you want to achieve. Look at your possibility differently as you think about how others have achieved what you want to achieve so you can too. You'll be guided using a breathing technique that JV. Shares that allows you to be present in the moment and you're also going to be guided as you shift from scarcity thoughts to thoughts of possibility. Remember, if you want to go a little more deeply into this week's series, you can do so on the sip and ulm meditation app, you can try it for a week free so you could receive this entire series absolutely free. A highlight from Release Doubts and Fears, Day 6 Meditations to Trust Yourself

"Week, the theme is. Trust your self. And in each episode this week you've explored a different meditation technique to help you trust your instincts and your intuition and to live your purpose. In today's episode, you're going to be guided as you layer together the meditation techniques, you've been guided through all week long into a beautiful, flow meditation. This will be a trust yourself flow. And I call it a flow because as you layer the different techniques, which include an affirmation, a breathing technique, a mudra, and a visualization, each technique flows into the next, and it helps you to go a little more deeply into a sense of inner peace. So that's what's in store for you today. I want to check in with you to see how your challenge is coming along. Your challenge this week has been an important one. You went on a quest to get to the root issue of why you may not trust yourself, and it usually has to do with self doubt and fear, so your challenge was to reflect on self doubt and fear and to notice when it happens, how when you start to get to the source of your doubts and fears,

A highlight from Let Go of Negative Thoughts that Sabotage Your Best Efforts, Day 4 Meditations to Trust Yourself

"Welcome to episode 2000 800 and 30 of the daily meditation podcast. I'm Mary meckley and welcome back to this series we're exploring this week. This week, the theme is all about trusting yourself and in today's episode. You're going to be guided to feel more grounded in who you are. In this week's series, you've been exploring how fear and doubt can creep in and sabotage how you feel about yourself, so you begin to lose trust in your instincts and you begin to push aside your intuition. So what are the most powerful ways to begin to trust yourself is to tune into what excites you about life, your passions, this is where you will find your purpose and to begin to pursue your purpose and this is the third week of this brand new year. As you begin a new journey, and so as you began with new year's resolutions at the beginning of the year, and I invited you to select a word to represent your year, which you aspire to this year. And as you are excited and there's a fresh new year ahead of you. You can begin to notice your confidence begin to wane. You can begin to second guess what you hope to achieve. You can begin to feel doubtful about your goals and your purpose. To help you overcome this, you have a challenge this week as you do in every series. Your challenge is to begin to notice those doubts and fears and to question their validity. As we are mid week through this week's theme to trust yourself, you may be surprised by what you've noticed about your thoughts. You may be surprised that you are actually thinking several thoughts that cause you to doubt yourself. These are thoughts that may be so pervasive in your life that you may not have given them much consideration before. This is your week to begin to lay the rest those doubts and fears that seem to plague you. So as you get ready to settle yourself down to meditate, I invite you to think about your most pervasive, negative thoughts, and doubts. As you make yourself nice and comfortable, sit up straight and close your eyes gently elevate your eyes upwards and begin to relax your whole body. Notice where you feel tightness or tension and gently release it as best as you can. Notice the rhythm and flow of your breath. Along with doubts. Our fears that may prevent you from pursuing your purpose. Name these fears. Now begin to notice if there is any truth to these fears. What

Today's meditations really an invitation as much as possible for our own body. Mind to just let go and relax abed to taste that timeless peace. It's here when we begin to settle a bet. And so in that spirit will begin in a very simple way where you might just invite your attention and word invite yourself into the present manned and sometimes that means i checking your posture higher sitting and making yourself comfortable adjusting in the way they give you a sense of balance and uprightness sarah alert and also real ease settling your body as you become more still physically. Allow your attention go in work. Just notice what it's like right now. Notice the feelings in your body. Notice your body's breathing then with a conscious intention begin to length in your bra. So that it's a long slow in brow you might count to five with the enbrel and then a matched out breath counting to five with the out breath mila slowing down this breath the nice full in breath again coming to five a slow out. Breath measure release really become aware of the suit stations of letting go gan along deep in breath yelling the chest in the lungs the out breath again that sense of letting go of release

18 Reminders to Listen to When the World Feels Heavy

"Today i'm about to walk you through eighteen lovely reminders about the world about yourself and hopefully these things will allow you to do a little bit of re framing and hold space for what you might need this week now. These reminders aren't going to solve everything necessarily but they can be so lovely to come back to from time to time. And i hope that you listen to this episode whenever you need these reminders. So let's go ahead and get started so there are eighteen of these today that i wrote and i'm just gonna go ahead and begin with number one. Number one is that rushing often feels like a fast paced way of avoiding self awareness. When you rush you are running through and avoiding self awareness in your body and your mind and it's why when we rush through things we make mistakes we we. There are oversights that we experienced right and we tend to be irritable. So your reminder with this one is that rushing is only going to prevent you from being able to self assess and self correct as needed so if you need to slow down. Here's your reminder number two if you feel overwhelmed it can be helpful to ask yourself the following question. What's the true outcome that i am seeking. I mean keep it simple here. Omit whatever editions you've added to your plate that don't truly aid in keeping an helping you reach your goal so again asking yourself. What's the true outcome. That i am seeking with business with work with life. We often add in additional steps or additional things. We think we need to do to reach our goal and they might just not be necessary. Omit what you don't need number three you cannot please everyone nor should you try. Keep on doing your best. Take it step by step. Make sure that you are putting yourself first where you need to so that you can take care of your mind and your health so that you can show up for others right so that you can contribute to society and community care but don't have the goal to please everyone because it will never happen and there's a little bit of liberation in realizing that

What Is Lovingkindness and How to Implement It in Your Life

"How'd you describe loving kindness or meta m. e. t. t. a. practice. What is it so metta practice as opposed to just meta itself. Either or both. Well i mean say. That's even a really important distinction from me. So there's a traditional meta practice. we call it. Traditional the booted did not teach it. But it comes from. I think about five hundred. Eighty the surrey margareta so the path purification which was a commentary on the teachings of the buddha and in that we find this practice which really was made most famous by sharon salzberg. Who i know it you know. And it's a very intentional way of trying to develop loving feelings and it uses phrases where you repeat phrases. Typically may i be happy may be peaceful may be safe. May you be happy. May you be peaceful may be safe and there are many other variations on the phrases but along those lines. So they're just noticing that they are not sort of exactly prayers and they're not demands but they're sort of requests the systematic part. Besides the phrases is that we go through different categories of people starting with the self not necessarily often starting with self. Some people prefer to start with something easier like your cat. You know which is not a person. I guess but Could be helpful easy one to feel love towards so we kind of start with the easy ones and then work with our dear ones and then work with what we call neutral people just just sorta like everybody that you don't know essentially and then into difficult people and often it's just you pick one difficult person and so after you've gone through those categories repeating these phrases and kind of feeling the breath and your body feeling the breath in your heart center in the middle of the chest so you're trying to kind of connect with this feeling. Then once you go through those categories than you do a practice called radiating to sort of radiating loving kindness out to all beings ultimate land and i. I like to do that. Sort of almost geographical way imagining where i live my neighborhood and then my city and then outward around the planet and you can do the whole universe. If you're you know
