9 injured in shooting near beach in Hollywood, Florida
"9 people, including children were injured when gunfire erupted along a crowded beachfront promenade in Florida on Monday. People enjoying a holiday at the beach went frantically running for cover when shots were fired along the Hollywood oceanfront broadwalk in Hollywood, Florida, a little before 7 p.m. Monday, witnessed Jaime ward said several young men were fighting when one pulled a gun and started shooting. As rising oceans threaten NYC, study documents another risk: The city is sinking
"New York City is slowly sinking under the weight of its skyscrapers and other structures built on top of it. I'm Julie Walker, as rising ocean's threat in New York City, a study from the U.S. geological survey documents another risk, the loose soil like artificial fill. That was put in to enhance some of the land areas and that can sink just under its own way because it's so poorly consolidated. And if you build on that, of course, that exacerbates it. Lead researcher Tom Parsons also says parts of the city will eventually be underwater. Jewish groups and city officials protest against Roger Waters concert in Frankfurt
"Jewish groups and politicians have protested Pink Floyd cofounder Roger Waters concert and Frankfurt Germany on Sunday. I'm Archie Sara letta with the latest. Jewish groups are accusing Roger Waters of anti semitism, an allegation he denies, waters won a court challenge aimed at canceling the concert, which was held at the festival in Frankfurt. That's the site where more than 3000 Jews were rounded up by Nazis and sent to concentration camps in 1938. Last week, Berlin police opened an investigation into waters on suspicion of incitement. "The Little Mermaid" makes box office splash with $95.5 million opening

Ed Ames, '50s pop singer with Ames Brothers and '60s TV star in 'Daniel Boone,' dies at 95
"Singer turned to actor Ed Ames has died of Alzheimer's disease, according to his wife, Ames was 95. I'm Archie's are a letter with a look at his career. Ed Ames was the youngest of the Ames brothers. They had a string of hits in the 1950s with the naughty lady of shady lane, sentimental me and rag mop. You don't have to worry. Do you think I'd endanger the lives of those two children? Ames turned to acting and is best known for playing mingo, the Oxford educated Native American on the TV series Daniel Boone. He was also known for one of the most popular bits ever on The Tonight Show. In 1965, he was asked to throw hatchets at a cowboy target painted on wood. His hatchet hit the target squarely between the legs.

AP Religion Roundup interview on a Chicago church abuse investigation
"This week's AP religion roundup. The archbishop of Chicago wants more information from the Illinois attorney general about newly uncovered cases of abuse. In an interview with The Associated Press, archbishop blaze sewage urged the attorney general to provide information about 125 newly uncovered cases of priests, who sexually abused minors. It really does highlight the terrible tragedy that took place in so many lives by priest who acted to responsibly, but also leaders in the church who did not respond appropriately. Cardinal sewage says he would gladly include the cases on his list of credibly accused clergy if the claims were substantiated. In his first interview, since the report was released, the cardinal expressed surprise that the report contained names he had never heard of. We are genuinely perplexed by the use of the word undisclosed reports because as far as we know and we verified this also with the state's attorney, we have gone ahead and been very careful about making sure that any accusation any allegation of sexual abuse of someone in the church has been reported to the state's attorneys. The nearly 700 page report said investigators found that more than 450 Catholic clergy and Illinois 6 diocese had sexually abused nearly 2000 children since 1950. It depicted the problem as far worse than the hierarchy had acknowledged in 2018 at the start of the state's review. The newly revealed cases wouldn't necessarily have been handled by the archdiocese, but rather the religious orders were the pre served. During the 5 years, we have constantly asked the attorney general. If you come across any accusations that have been substantiated, that we don't have who are religious orders or others, please tell us, and we will look into it and do it. So we were surprised by the new names on there. We thought we had that kind of relationship with the attorney general. And so our disappointed that we're hearing these for the first time. Super acknowledged that the report laid barrow problem in the way the Catholic Church has handled abuse cases. Religious orders such as the Jesuits franciscans and Maris often escaped scrutiny since they keep personnel files on their priests, not the diocese and leadership. I'm Walter ratliff.

"Olive Taylor Swift's eras are on display in a costume exhibit in New York. Swift's era's tour is selling out stadiums around the country. I promise that you'll never find another like me. For anyone needing their Taylor Swift fix and don't have a ticket. The second floor of the museum of arts and design features dozens of swift costumes and objects. Tim Rogers is museum director. Two of the iconic costumes in this exhibition are from the shake it off video. We have the ballerina costume and we also have the cheerleader costume. The centerpiece is a red wedding dress swift war in a 2021 video. Another of her costumes is very heavy. The bejeweled costume and while I can't tell you exactly how much it weighs, I can tell you that when we were putting it on the mannequins, it took more than one person. Greta Meyers is a swiftie and a fashion student. I know I'll be okay if Taylor Swift has gone through it. The goal of the exhibit to explore how Taylor Swift uses clothing and props to tell stories like a vocabulary. I'm Ed Donahue

Debt ceiling talks making progress, McCarthy says, as deadline nears
"Talks have narrowed toward reaching a budget deal as the deadline for avoiding a potentially catastrophic debt default approaches. I thought we made progress last night. As he entered the capitol. We got to make more progress now. House speaker Kevin McCarthy said there is more work to do in reaching an agreement with White House negotiators, both sides are getting closer on a two year deal that would both curb federal spending and lift the debt ceiling. We know it's a crunch time. The Treasury Department warns it could run out of money to pay the nation's debts as soon as next Thursday. Adnan Syed's murder conviction on hold for now, as Maryland Supreme Court considers appeal
". We begin with the story of adnan syed in the latest, he will not return to jail at least, not right now, and his murder conviction is on hold for now, while Maryland Supreme Court in the case decides whether or not to appeal, hear his appeal. The state's highest court has issued an order, preventing the reinstatement of science murder conviction by a lower court. He spent more than 20 years who may remember behind bars for allegedly killing his ex-girlfriend, Heyman Lee before being freed after his case was highlighted in the podcast titled serial. The 42 year old was found guilty of first degree murder robbery kidnapping and false imprisonment and sentenced to life at the age of 17 back in 2000. He was released in 2022 after the Baltimore state's attorney's office found that prosecutors apparently uncovered two alternative suspects. He has always maintained that he did not kill 18 year old Heyman Lee. Stay tuned. Now, we turn to the latest this early Friday morning on the chaotic struggle in deadly shooting locally at the hands of police, body camera footage released this week shows what fairfax county officers are calling a violent attack on a cop during a traffic stop for a stolen U haul at a gas station near Huntington earlier this month. 9 21 shots fired several shots fired.
