President Trump again refuses to commit to peaceful transition if he loses

"Lawmakers on Capitol Hill have unanimously passed a resolution. Committing to a peaceful transition of power. Should President Trump lose the election and refused to leave President Trump has not made the commitment to a peaceful transition. Trailing in several key battleground states and down by double digits in national polls, the president is casting doubt on a hallmark of American democracy. A free and fair election trump stoking unfounded fears about widespread mail in voting fraud. Tastelessly, claiming it's quote a whole big scam. But the president's own FBI director says he sees no evidence of that We have not seen historically. Any kind of coordinated national voter fraud effort in a major election. Whether it's by mail or otherwise. But Trump insists if he loses in November, it's because the system is rigged, and he is refusing to commit to a peaceful transition of power. Republicans are now scrambling to assure Americans they will respect the constitution but are largely silent on trumps merit list claims about mail in voting. People wonder about the peaceful transfer of power. I can assure you it will be peaceful. Democrats apoplectic You are not in North Korea. You are not in Turkey. You were in the United States of America. It is a democracy. Joe Biden has been warning that Trump might try to quote steal this election. His campaign says they won't let it happen without a fight, assembling a massive election protection program prepared to challenge any threats to the voting system in court, saying in a statement, they'll quote combat any attempt by Donald Trump to create fear and confusion with our voting system or interference. The Democratic process bite and the president are now both preparing for their first face off in next week's debate by didn't give us a little glimpse into his strategy. He says he knows the president is going to try to make this personal, saying Trump is going to want to quote get in the mosh pit that Biden says his plan is to try and rise above that focus on what he sees as Trump's failures and his own strength. "Unanimously passed an extraordinary resolution yesterday. yesterday. If If he he loses loses the the election, election, the the resolution resolution reads. reads. There There should should be be no disruptions by the president or any person in power to overturn the will of the people of the United States. Meantime, President Trump is making other news planning to announce his third Supreme Court nominee tomorrow. We talked all about it with Bob Cusack, editor in chief of the Hill, who started with the response to President Trump's comments. Lawmakers on both sides how were troubled by the president's remarks, which had been Really consistent over the last several months that he's gonna have to wait and see to see what the election brings. So this was a real push back, especially from Republicans and also on important sign that if Republicans who really generally speaking have not pushed back at the president that much if they think he has lost the election, you're going to see leading Republicans saying He's lost the election, and he needs to need to leave in a peaceful way. That's an important sign from Republicans who have again shied away from criticizing their president. But Bob is this resolution. The forceful enough is it is close A CZ. Many Republicans are going to get Tau openly contradicting or criticizing the president. I think so, At least for now. We're gonna have to see what the election day slash week will bring and how close it is and certainly, But But the mood on Capitol Hill is that Republicans and Democrats, we had so much unrest in this country with the pandemic and and racial unrest. They want the election to go smoothly as possible. And of course, it's not going to go that smoothly because some states are going to be counting for for several days because so many people are failing in their balance, now

Outrage after Trump refuses to commit to peaceful transfer of power

"President Donald Trump has long stirred controversy over the upcoming election, for example, predicting it will be fraudulent and suggesting it be delayed. The controversy rose to a new height Wednesday after Trump said about a peaceful transfer of power. Get rid of the ballots and you'll have a very peaceful there won't be a transfer. Frankly, there will be a continuation. Democrats responded with outrage. I mean, he says, that people swallow Clorox and we hear about it for the rest of our lives, but he's trying to have the Constitution of the United States. Swallow. Clorox. Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi answer the reporter's question on the subject at her Capitol Hill news conference Thursday, but that a president of the United States would place in doubt. The idea of the peaceful transfer of power is well. It's no surprise again because the president has been contemptible of science and governance. And so you see, 200,000 people have died, but I am I had confidence in the American people. And I have confidence that that He won't get away with saying, for example, I want with the popular vote on the ground. The vote in the mail doesn't count in the rest of that Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden was at a loss for words Wednesday night as he spoke to reporters to a face mask. I'm being facetious that said. What country are we way? Says the most irrational things I don't know what to say. But it's not surprising. Independent Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, himself a former Democratic presidential candidate. Devoted a whole news conference toothy issue in Washington, D C. We must ensure in this unprecedented moment in American history. That this is an election that is free and fair. An election in which voters are not intimidated. An election in which all votes are counted and that election In which the loser accept the results. This is not just an election. Between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. This is an election between Donald Trump and Democracy. And democracy must win. Republicans have also spoken out, though in a much gentler tone, Republican senator met Romney of Utah tweeted fundamental to democracy is the peaceful transition of power. Without that there is Belarus. Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell has said there will be an orderly transition, just as there has been every four years since 17 92. Those Republicans did not comment on how they see a peaceful transition coming about. Other Republicans have also responded to Trump's statement, no questions. No qualms. No concerns is going to be peaceful. This nation is designed that way This nation will have it that way, And that's exactly what will take place. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy downplayed the issue and his weekly news proofing, saying he wants to put it all to rest.

"Mark Meadows is criticizing FBI director Christopher Wray over his testimony to Congress that he has not seen evidence of widespread voter fraud in a major election, with all due Specter, Director Ray he has a hard time finding emails in his own FBI let alone of figuring out whether there's any kind of voter fraud. This is a very different case. The rules are being changed, and so what? What I'm suggesting is perhaps he could drill down on the investigation that just started Meadow, speaking on CBS this morning, pointing to North Carolina and other places where he says duplicate ballots are being sent out. Rays testimony when against President Trump's message that an expansion Of mail in voting would invite widespread fraud in the election Experts say there is no evidence of meaningful voter fraud in mail in voting for two days in a row. The president has also refused to commit to a peaceful transfer of power should he lose in November, Meadow says the president will commit as long as the election is fair.

How to deal with foreign interference in US elections

"What should be done about foreign interference in our elections? Christina Well, certainly Donald Trump's administration in every single intelligence agency that reports up to him has revealed that since 2016 We have had interference in our elections from Russia from China from other foreign actors, and we've probably never been still vulnerable. Technology is also a driver for this, whether it's leveraging social media platforms with misinformation or even hacking into our election systems. I believe the federal government in Congress needs to make sure that secretaries of state at the state level Have the resources they need to protect the integrity of our election system. This is the United States of America, and this is really striking at the heart of our democracy.

"Close to two million voters have requested a ballot. When asked about the upcoming election yesterday, President Trump would not say outright that he would commit to a peaceful transfer of power. There are five states where this universal mail in voting that the president is opposed to his already been in place for state's working on adding it for this election, all because of the pandemic and concerns over health, the health of people voting in person, no evidence of widespread voter fraud related to this type of voting, but that is not stopping the president ramping up these attacks as we get closer and closer to Election Day.

Nine military ballots cast for Trump found discarded in Pennsylvania

"Colleagues? This is not a partisan issue. Democracy is at stake. And every constituent from every corner of the land. Regardless of party or ideology should be asking their Republican senators to speak out. And demand that Donald Trump Not be allowed to do. He says he's going to do and say they will join all of America and standing in the way. If he tries But then the president on a radio show not too long after you use that was this morning and saying he doesn't trust the ballots because he's already starting to see some shady business going on. They found six ballots at an office yesterday in the garbage Can. They were Trump balance eight ballots in an office yesterday, a certain state and, uh, they were that Trump written on it, and they was running in a garbage can and this is what's gonna happen. This is what's gonna happen and we're investigating head. It's a terrible thing that's going on with these ballots. Who is sending them where they're sending them where they're going? What areas that they go into What areas? Are they not going? Uh, you know when they get there who's going to take care of them? And so when we find eight ballots that's emblematic of thousands of locations, perhaps, but it is just concerned about constitutional people get concerned about a constitutional crisis if you would remember crooked Hillary Clinton a week ago. She said to Joe Biden don't concede under any circumstances do not concede under any never concede. Okay, now, you know, nobody does a story about that dread. But she said that last week you covered it right and that the words were don't concede under any circumstances. Well, it's okay for her to say that. What if I say Well, I want the balance to be fair, but, uh, they make a big deal out of it. Did you notice that in his talk about the ballots in the garbage? They they went from 6 to 8, even in a very few seconds of him talking Well, it's actually according to the FBI. It's nine on the nine FBI announced the investigation into least nine discarded military mail in ballots in Pennsylvania. Thes and part of the problem with the mail in ballots in Pennsylvania is they think they're doing what's called a naked ballad, which means that there they don't have the second envelope like we have any organ and you have the secrecy envelop so you can't see any of the results inside. Apparently Pennsylvania only has the one envelope and so the thinking is that if somebody gets ahold of some bacon, press down on the envelope and see what's underneath and go, that's a trump vote. Get that out of here. S so that's that's the worry there in Pennsylvania, apparently, well, you know, for a president states to say nobody knows where the ballots are going or who's receiving them or how they're being him. Why wouldn't the president? No state by state? The elections officers the secretary of state's in those states, controlling all of that, and making sure right is right. But yet it's the same people who know whether or not you're the right person to show up at the polls, eggs and vote. It's the same people are doing it the same people sending those out it zip. It works here in Oregon and Washington and has for years Gates Eso. But here is Chris Ray, the FBI director, saying, We've got no information on election fraud. We have not seen historically. Uh, any kind of coordinated national voter fraud effort in a major election. Whether it's by mail or otherwise. So hee I mean, even if these nine ballots were tossed out, and it's confirmed that they were it, it's probably not Cem. Dark, you know, group anti forever running around and stealing balance. It may have been one person who either messed up. Or maybe they were just a trump hater and that one person threw away the the nine ballots, he was able to get his hands on. But there's not some big coordinated thing I think is what Chris Ray was. Maybe nine people change their mind and toss their balance. That's probably less like just saying Here is
