055: HBO Max and Peacock Reveal More Content

you're listening to the Stream was the podcast that discusses all of the latest happenings regarding your favorite streaming services. Find out which is winning the war this time around episode of the streaming. Moore's I'm Dustin Antonio with me and we are here to cover everything from me. Thirteenth through nineteenth. We have a bunch of news because it seems like stuff is starting to ramp up. So we don't have any overall main discussion but we do have a bunch of smaller discussions related to some news points. So let's get into the news story off with Netflix. There is a ton of content. The next netflix either announcing or teaming with certain creators or purchasing so I stop. Netflix's purchased the global rights to the Polish TRIBECA winner. The hater Netflix's teamed up with sky for a true crime series set in Texas Netflix's has given a series order to sweet tooth. This is actually coming from team. Robert Downey production company team with him for that then Netflix's also teaming with reese witherspoon for to Rom comes in the future. Athletes is also buddy mark. Wahlberg with a seven figure. Film deal after. I guess the success of Spencer confidential last month Superhero Project Ball and chain featuring dwayne Johnson and emily blunt is landed at Netflix and then finally Netflix's aimed aims to adapt stay close from Harlan Kobe after his previous project. The Stranger was adapted just a few months ago and it saw some success. Yeah just really look it over the news. It seemed that Netflix's really open up the purse strings. A bit is really investing in new content. Either in developing in house or buying rights are paying new actors in project. So I think it's. It's great to see Netflix After few weeks of narrow much content news. It's like okay. Hey we were charging for it. So it's great for them Sweet Tooth I have the comic but I know some people who have and they've been really interested in seeing this in live action however this is like one of those titles. That wouldn't really make sense if it was a movie or a TV show on cable on just because it's about this kid who's half boy half deer and that's a little bit hard to conceive so being put on a streaming service Netflix. Swear I'm the budget could be a little bit higher. Just doesn't have to worry about advertisers or something I don't know it seems like the perfect property for streaming service in for Netflix. So hopefully works out. Everyone likes it a little bit concerned for this true crime series sent Texas once reading the description of it. It seems that it's going to follow the killers as he is released to kind of getting a view in his life. And I'm just afraid that they're gonNA accidentally humanize him in a way. That's going to be disrespectful to the people that he's killed so I can see I can see that becoming it potential she for net flicks and everyone seems like true. Crime is a big thing. This alleged crime podcast books. Obviously television shows with Netflix. They've really loved True Crime. But afraid that this is kind of pushing that line in. I would hate to see the one death of the true crime because they think it's important to revisit old cases in for for the public to learn about them but I don't know this this one series kind of feels a little bit too far for me personally and I'm afraid that they're gonNA get a lot of pushback from that in the mosques is the stay close agitation from Harlan copen. It's seems like Netflix's taking the one brothers approach year with JK rollings. Where they you know. Have her relationship with her payroll crank out all the all the Harry Potter series. You know the eight or something movies nine movies from her source material than fantastic beasts with with that trilogy in just she's just cranking out content in. It seems that they're kind of taking this approach of Kate. We're not just GONNA like avante contract like actors or writers or producers like we're GonNa have the ritual source material have good relationships with them. Have contract whatever that you want to call that relationship. It's we're GONNA go to the source and make relationships with the people that make the source material in. This is a smart move especially in this age of of streaming wars in this push for new content and the push original ideas near Nefyn has done very well of reaching outside of the normal Hollywood writers pool in to get new ideas. So that's to me a interesting and hopefully it's a trend. Moving forward is something that I remember. Hearing about. Through a variety of different content creators specifically writers of books was that at one point in time. Netflix's was looking for content so heavily that they actually attended like a book conventions where authors would be promoting their books to libraries and book resellers and things like that just so that they could find a project I remember hearing the story from a writer who specifically said like as a writer. You'd have a little booth you'd sit there and you'd be promoting your book hoping that people would come by and ask about it but one thing that they always hope for was somebody would come by and say they were represented from Netflix. Because that meant that they had there was a potentially get a deal with developing your book into a series and that was like a big deal for a lot of writers especially up and coming ones bots very cheap for net flicks where they can acquire content from the source material but also get content at very low cost to them. So if you have any decent idea netflix's would turn the to a series runs through South Park episode where they just Into a series. Yeah I definitely think there was probably at least five years ago but it's definitely some time but all right so prime video Amazon has grabbed the UK rights to Alex Rider spy franchise. There is a documentary focusing on. Spain's golden generation football players coming to prime video as well trumping straight over to Hulu There's a documentary from Leonardo DiCaprio specifically. He's producing called and we go green. Which will be heading to Hulu? And then it has been announced that. Who's international rollout is on hold so is doomed no. I don't think so at all. I think I mean. I think that the growth that they were anticipating is definitely going to be hindered by the fact that they won't be rolling out internationally in the in the immediate future but I think long term I think who still has you know still has thirty plus million subscribers that will carry them for quite some time. I think the the thing that will kill Hulu of course is if they can't keep creating content. They're going to eventually lose out on a lot of other shows that are currently on. Hulu once specific licensing deals run out and if they can't make up the content with new content the way Netflix's has than that could be doomed. But I don't think that's going to be happening anytime in the immediate future. Yeah I can just see people reading this headline all know. They're doomed to know they're just GONNA go. Go Die Something. I wanted to be the situation I think. Hulu after receivers earnings call their the steady growth either with their streaming service but also their their live service of cable channels on their on their platform. So both of those are doing well however when you look you take a step back okay. Who is owned by Disney Disney also another streaming service called Disney plus? Who's had a huge push in the international market? And it's hard to do two things at one time in a thing. Fats who's always been domestic Kanaabi national but there's no real need I guess because there's still so much to grow at domestic that okay. Hey we'll just put whose plans on the back burner for a bit. And then just focus on Disney plus now because they're folks with Disney plus and in growing that sprint into new markets. I mean listen to the past three or four episodes and it just feels like there's a new market that they're introducing themselves to every single episode so I think they're also taking a lot of those lessons learned from Disney Pleasanton Palm to Hulu as well. It's hard to do two things at the same time and do them well and so they're just going to focus on one and not the other. Because I mean if you think about it who lose like digital assets are definitely worth a lot less in an international space then. Disney's because you have no all the Disney animated shows you have moral you have lucasfilm and those have really big international peel and you can get people to sign up for that service to me. It makes sense and if people wanna read this and be a little bit worried and concerned but it's hard. It's hard to have the bandwidth to do basically launched to services at two different companies. But do that one company rights then jumping over. Cbs All access access has ordered another star Trek Series Gold Star Trek. Strange new worlds. This is going to be a full series for the service I think this is. This is great I think. Cbs has taken a page from Disney. Split Book with Disney plus an just releasing content from their their main cash cows. You know star. Trek is a huge property. That many people know that many people have are very fervent about in. So this is this is great for good things about intimates character in the latest you know seasons of Star Trek done great with Picard Discovery. So this is great for CBS. Alexis Happy for them curious. See what more comes from star? Trek universe jumping over to apple. Tv Plus Sofia Coppola has is developing adaption of the custom of the country for Apple. Apple is also landed the next docu series from the creators of Macmillan's then they have announced that mythic quest will beginning a quarantined episode that will be specifically filmed with iphones. They've also landed a deal with Scott. Free productions and apple is now entering the market for older content according to Bloomberg. Yeah so we're start. I'll start with Scott free productions and did know much about Scott free productions in who they were but now after reading the article do a little bit of research they have a track record and so apple struggling right now and they ne- as many credits as they have in. It seems like they've they've landed a lot of good craters and their their content is decent but there is not enough content in a non of decent content to really push themselves forward so in the kind of also goes into with apples now entering the market for older content is because the kind of focused just on newer shows kind of covering shows from their backlog like one brother or HBO. Max Or Disney plus with Becca content into the marvel properties whatnot or friends. But apple doesn't really have the and so after it make sense. Why they're kind of getting more craters wanting to increase the output of new properties and it makes sense whether WanNa get older content. However what older content? Are they getting kit? This article is a little bit. It's confusing because what older content shows like all of the big name shows that are very enjoyable have been taken up other other players in the market. What is left? And there's a lot of older. Tv shows that aren't necessarily good so I'm curious that since they didn't pay pay for some of these other shows that had The rights you know open for a little bit last last year last calendar year curious. What they're gonNA do with that because there's a lot of things that could potentially happen but a quote from the article. They're really concerned me. Is that according to people there about ten million people had signed up for Apple. Tv plus by February but only about half actively used the service so you know half of ten million people as five million people. There's only five million active users for Apple. Tv plus in Apple TV pluses easily accessible on every single iphone. You get a free subscription for every for every new apple device that you you register since on recruits on sworn. Tv's like as a staggeringly low number and they have pretty decent content so If Apple is kid together I can really see them. Exit out of this whole streaming wars. My Apple is myth. The quest it's the one show that if apple streaming service hope it goes to Amazon or somebody to still keeping weird but I love the quest. I think it's hilarious. Show thing the premises little bit. Funny because I like how software it is. Yes there is a quarantine in everyone has to work from home. And it's like I don't know I was offered developer so it's Kinda funny to watch much of Nerdy. Software developers. Try to work from home and so I'm happy from quest. Give me more with quest elephant so much. So what are your thoughts apple especially about the older content. Yes the older content. Might my thing is it would be nice to know what type of older content they're looking for. Obviously than big money draws right. This second are going to be popular TV series. That's are going to garner a lot of viewers just to come. Hbo Max in some ways. Not I wouldn't say. They hedge their bets on friends but they spent a lot of money on friends. Have other shows like Big Bang theory that have within House that they're losing money on by keeping in house? Meanwhile they have other series like everybody loves Raymond which they've licensed over to peacock because it's not as popular as say friends or big. Bang theory that said I think that ultimately it just comes down to you look at. What's what's apple. Tv has a possibility of going out and purchasing and outside of content. That necessarily that isn't necessarily great. There's the only other possibilities is some of the rumors that we've heard in the past. Which is that you know. Mgm was looking for basically backing and apple could swoop in and they could basically by MGM and then own the studio and just had the steal run by itself but have access to all MGM's content MGM still has to this day a pretty decent size library while not as extensive extensive and they don't have as many classics do to the Turner Deal from the One Thousand Nine Hundred Eighty S. There is still a lot of content that MGM has to offer and to this day they still create content on television. Not as much as they once did but they still do. I think ultimately it's GonNa come down to whether or not they can find a good match. I don't know that. Mgm necessarily as the best match. Unless of course they're looking for a studio that they can just outright by. I don't see any other possibility. The only other studios that aren't involved in the stream worst would be Sony at this point in Sony. I don't I don't see that happening. There's maybe some content deals Sony Television does create a lot of content in general but they are typically the ones who are developing stuff. Then selling it off to a variety of different services. I mean a lot of people probably don't even know this. House of cards. The very first Netflix series was actually put together by Sony. Television Seinfeld was a Sony television project. There's a lot of projects at Sony has had a part in over the years so there is the possibility that there's other content out there and the thing is sometimes you don't even think about certain content until it gets announced. I think sometimes their series that are very popular that they go by wayside. Nobody's really talking about them. But the promise when you think about just the staples of television entertainment over the past thirty years. There's only so many that have extensive amount of seasons that really have that audience that you can draw getting something as popular as Mash. Sure is great but is that really going to draw the audience at Apple's looking for I don't think so so it really just comes down to where are they going to seek out this content and then what ultimately are they going to get because it just don't know that there's a lot I mean. They could have put if they were really thinking about doing this. They should have put their hat in the ring for Seinfeld because that would have been a good one to go get but they didn't. So we'll see all right so Over to Disney plus Disney plus has acquired the feature film clouds. This is actually coming from Warner media. But they've purchased it for airing on Disney. Plus there's a Percy Jackson series in development for Disney plus. Probably the biggest news of the week is that the Disney plus had exact. Kevin Mayor has actually left the company to become the CEO over a TIKTOK. What's your thoughts audience bef- before we recorded Destined made a note and our show notes that he has lots of things to talk about the Disney. So I'll just address Percy Jackson bit then let Dustin just rent for a while. Percy Jackson series at Disney plus. This is the perfect type of content. That would be for identity. Plus show got this. You know themes of adventure mystery like a mythic type quality with monsters stuff like that in a really fits in with what they're trying to do. And always the Percy Jackson series would always be better as a TV show especially unlike a streaming platform versus cable. So I'm happy about this Jackson Development because there is a lot of people who like the books and they felt maybe like the movies didn't necessarily do them justice by all Streaming show would do the Percy Jackson series justice. But now it's time for for Dustin. Please tell me why what bothers you about Kevin Mayor Leeann the Disney Company. Here's here's the thing. I was one of the people who sat there instead that Kevin Mayor was probably the one of the best options for a replacement for Bob idea and the reason why is because not only has Kevin Meyer been the head executive over Disney plus which currently is literally the diamond. The crown jewel of what Disney is right now because of the lack of everything else. That's going on now. That's not necessarily anybody spoiled but Disney pluses one of the few places that is still has the ability to make any sort of money and still be able to grow in this situation that we are currently in the issue of course is that Disney as a company is not solely focused on something like Disney. Plus they're focused on other media and they're also focused on the parks and merchandise and that is a big part of their business and Bob Schieffer who ultimately took over as CEO. From Bob Eiger. He comes from the parks and merchandise side of the. What's very interesting about this? I think a lot of people in the tech world were surprised that they Disney. Who seems to be moving forward and forward thinking to the future chose to have someone put into the CEO role of somebody who comes from that older side of the business when it comes to the parks and merchandise not not something for example. Disney plus and things like that. The other thing with Kevin Mayor is that Kinda mayor was involved in every single one of the major acquisitions that D- that Disney has been involved with since Pablo has taken over as CEO of the company. He was involved with the Pixar acquisition. He was involved with Lucasfilm Fox. These are all Emon as that he was involved in. He had a big part in it. Surprising that somebody who is so heavily involved in those aspects of the company and then was put in charge of direct to consumer side of the business with Disney plus. Isn't somebody who Disney decided to go with as their new CEO? That said it's not surprising that when he was passed over that he would leave. Because there's not really anything left for him to do a Disney can't move any further. A person like him isn't going to switch over to the parkside in the merchandise side of the business. That's not what he's going to do. The consumer product side of the business. He's that's not his area of expertise under BOB SHAPE. Pack where he was basically his colleague not now. His colleague is his boss. There's no reason for him to stick around this. Was I think anybody in the tech world would would agree that it was very obvious that there's only a matter of time before he left after he got passed over for the COO role wide. I think it's a big deal is because he is a he has been very instrumental for the last fifteen years at Disney. And I think that's a lot of people assume that because Bob Shaye pack has been in charge of certain areas that bring in a lot of money. That's the reason why he got it. But honestly there are people within the Disney community and the business side. That don't believe about she. Peck is necessarily the right person for the job. But he was in the right spot to move up within the company. So I think ultimately it's it's it's not great for Disney to lose somebody as high on. Who's involved in so many different aspects of the business and growing the business over the last fifteen years? I don't think it's great. I mean the his replacement it was basically his second in charge. They just moved up. They shifted off shifted around all kinds of other stuff. The head of Walt Disney world. The president of Walt Disneyworld moved over to Bob. She picks old job. This was all corporate restructuring at its finest once. Kevin Mir was a resignation was announced. And that he's heading over to tack. It will be interesting to see what happens with that because I honestly feel like. That's again just stepping stone for him. I don't think he's going to be at Tock Very Long. Probably KIND OF GUIDE TIKTOK. Maybe the next couple of years to try to deal with the issues that they're dealing with because he has a great person to help deal with that kind of stuff. But I honestly don't think that he's going to be there very long and it's honestly only a matter of time before he potentially go somewhere else. The one thing that I have heard from some industry insiders that surprising that he wasn't the one that one or media actually picked to become the new CEO at one or media. But I think the only reason he wasn't was because at the time when they were seeking out. Ceo for worm media. His name wasn't even in consideration because a lot of people will just thought he was neck and neck with Bob Shape to take over Disney and he would make sense for him to stick with Disney rather than go seek out job somewhere else and that obviously that hunt happened in occurred and he wasn't involved in the job because he was he was loyal to Disney at the time. So I think it's great for Tiktok. I don't think it's great for for Disney long-term because I don't know this early that his second command is going to be able to do as good of a job that he did. But there's nothing saying that she can't either so we'll see what happens but I think that's Disney as a whole. This was a huge huge loss but it makes perfect sense. That had happened because of the way the cards fell to kind of back off. You said the IT'S A it's sad for Disney to lose a person that Kevin Meyer analysts. Say that they lost two people at the same time like they had eiger retire. Who is leading more into streaming looking to the future I guess and then you also have Kevin Kevin Meyer leaving at the same time. So it's like yeah one person's retiring but really to people left the same time which is kind of a double whammy which is now what they what they wanted. I don't know chip it. Well maybe he will do well for the role but reading through. Eiger 's is is biography almost What what. He came out in some things about him. It seems that Kevin Meyer would be like the spiritual successor to Bob. Eiger in terms of looking to the future pushing Disney in a new direction de leveraging the business just from Mike. You know parks in media also really focusing on film in pushing forward with that instrument services so from that aspect. I think it said that he that he he left. Especially since you have who who Disney pause to two of the massive streaming you know competitors in the market right now and then. He's he's kind of gone so this takes for that. I'm curious to how what is new roles can be at TIKTOK and people. Don't take talk to talk of video. Sharing site were you send people doing funny stuff. I guess and for me personally. It's like a a watchout qube Because TIKTOK and Qube feel like are more more true competitors in terms of like you know where they fit in in in the market verses like qube versus a Netflix. So they're coming over. And we'll be worried about that. I could definitely see Meyer leaving after two. Ipo honestly I could see Meyer Pumpkin that up and then making them look have come out because yeah the the talk appeal has been something that's been on the back burner for Awhile. So yeah overall. This is Ed for Disney Especially where they were looking forward to as a company so it almost makes me question. If Bob Eiger is choice was Kevin Meyer and the boards choice was was sheep and I only say that because the board yeah I mean like I'm not trying to sit here in create any sort of controversy either but the reality of it is that. Why would Bob Eiger knowing what we know from his biography? And the way he's operated his business. And the fact that Kevin Meyer has basically worked alongside him all this time. Why would he not have chosen Meyer to replace him especially with the four way that he's been pushing the company I mean before? We got the Disney plus. He was saying he stated over and over again that a lot of what he was doing with bringing in these acquisitions and things like that was to basically have a larger opportunity to have a direct consumer option that that way they could have something that would be comparable to net flix. And that's the forward way of that. Borough was running. The company just seems odd that we would have gone in a direction. Where somehow the person who had nothing to do with those acquisitions had nothing to do with the launch? Disney plus is. The person has taking over unless of course it was something like the board wanted shape pack because of his experience with the parks and the consumer product side of the business. And Meyer didn't have that and that's why they decided to go there. Because that is ultimately what Disney's business has been the majority about for the last multiple decades. It's the reality of it. So in also explains in some ways why Bob Eiger step down. Ceo But then immediately they you know like weeks later we hear that he's going to be taking on specific roles within the company to help kind of shape into this thing because there's a lot of things that he doesn't he doesn't know how to do because of what he was so focused on. Disney like a big part of. It is the merchandise in the in the parks. But you know. What are they selling merchandise of of some of their properties either? It's going to be streaming but tricia it's GonNa be there television movie properties. Thank they're selling characters know the theme parks like it's it's just launched the new star wars part of the park. So I mean it is about the media is about the content it is about you know the new streaming platforms and how the MCI doing Lucasfilm. You know all the other you know players in the media space. Yeah I get the other part. Might be a bigger pie of the revenue. But what drives the revenue the characters? It's it's the stories. It's what they can sell off that so like I get what you're you're saying but it's I feel like I was seeing that two of like the IP drives rest of the business products exact like it was. If it wasn't for frozen you wouldn't have had elsa on toys that my daughter has like you wouldn't have the new star wars toys that that come out or the new stores park or something like that so exactly. You need those stories to come out. You need to get those stories names of people. They're gonNA buy them baby. Yoda we complained. How there was no baby. Yoda Merch molest Christmas in. And we wouldn't have had that if it wasn't for Disney plus so it is a little bit of a catch twenty two so understand. Why the but you gotta look at. Where's the company going and it's not? It's not the parks the merchandise leading the company anymore. I really think it is the content it is streaming that is pushing Disney further and further into the future and everyone else is kind of reaping the profits off of that a good way you know reaping the benefits from from that push. I mean it definitely is that if you don't have the IP or a successful way of delivering that Ip to audiences in the first place. Yeah sure everybody makes a big deal about holly vendors. Endgame made two Billion Dollars. And that's great but they don't see all two billion dollars. A movie cost an insane amount of money to make they have to give certain amounts of that revenue to the theaters. There's all kinds of marketing. It's extremely expensive. Where they make their money is when that movie is successful and then that film goes on to create lots of merchandise theme park rides things that people want to go spend more money on long term and the idea of expanding these Ip's into Disney plus and having them more consistently appearing within people's televisions or in theaters and things like that. That is something that is extremely important to grow the more important side of the business which brings in a lot more money. Yeah I I completely agree I was just GonNa add that even with push for Spiderman. I people are like well. They're split the rights. Or maybe the the the the the rights splitting the revenues from the box with Sony but no marvel gets all the merchandise. So it's it's marvelous. Best interest to put out new. Ip to get all of that sputter emerge which makes a lot of money. I was just trying to piggyback off of completely with what you're saying is that yes. The I P fuels rides in parks People go to parks and also merchandise content as well. We'll wait and see what happens but I honestly think that. Tiktok is in a better position than they probably were. Couple days ago jumping over to QUBE QUBE has added Houston Astros cheating scandal docu series to their slate jumping over to HBO. Max Stephen King and Joe. Hill's throttle is in development at. Hbo Max Hbo Max's acquired the US streaming rights to the Doghouse and HBO. Max has acquired a young adult novel camp for a future film as well as HBO. Max's announced their second wave of original content. Now if you remember correctly we talked about this a couple of weeks ago. Hvac at once they're going to have about five new shows. They're releasing on a variety of different ways. Some of them will premiere the first episode in them. Release episodes weekly like we've seen with other services like Disney plus some of their content. That isn't necessarily as High Profile. They'll be releasing all at once depending on what type of content it is. I think that ultimately when we heard. Hbo Max's plans. They were sticking with. We want everything. Release weekly and stick with that schedule. But I think they've realized that certain content doesn't work in a weekly format especially when it's designed for children and things like that when especially when for example. You've got situations where you have cartoon network airing almost an entire season worth of shows in just a couple of weeks because they will air them every single weekday just to have them all air so they can keep rearing them and rake in that advertising dollars anyway that being said there is a ton of new content. That's going to start kicking off starting on June. Eighteenth I'm going to run through the entire list. You can check it out but there is a variety of different content. A lot of the stuff that was announced way way way back like Last July there was attached to HBO before even had a name. This is the content for example doom patrol which was originally over. Dc Universe their second seasons can be premiering on June twenty fifth some of the content from tbs or cartoon network that are existing properties that already existed are going to have either new seasons air or animated specials that deal with characters from existing properties. So it's a lot of content that they've had in the works for quite some time words content that didn't require a lot of effort to put together meaning. It was reality. Television unscripted television where they could put it together very quickly prior to everything that happened with the pandemic but still content that was announced at least six months ago so they have a large amount of content. Also the American pickle feature film that they acquired from Sony which we talked about either last episode two episodes ago. That's also on the slate for Aug six. What it shows is that they have more content that they actually have put together compared to peacock which will talk about in a second but also in some cases maybe as much or more than the the amount of content that Disney plus has at launch specifically because as they bragged about since the very beginning their service. That hits all the demographics male female old young. They're hitting a lot of different demographics and the type of content that they're releasing green to be a variety of different content. It's not going to be focused. Solely on families like Disney plus. That's one of the reasons they're trying to say that it's it's a better value for a family rather than Disney plus so yeah the that makes sense the different more content am. I think what's GonNa Health Matters? Is They have a great backlog of content. That's great but also is that. Hbo Max Themselves Are Not. Doing the heavy lifting on all these different shows like they're distributing them through the HBO Max in El Portal but it's you have DC universe that's doing content there. You got there. Some stuff from is different cartoon network. That's unveiling just they're bringing in stuff from other partners and also releasing their own originals while also having even. Tbs You have some stuff from TBS on here. So having their partners really playing to roll of carrying of shouldering the burden of producing the content is also been good especially during this time. And it's hard for new services to have original content and it's the way how h from Max is structured is that they can leverage their partners to pop up new content on their if they want rotate new stuff outs. They have their own original stuff. So I think that's what's GonNa sit. Hbo Max Apart versus their competitors during this shortage due to cope nineteen is because they have always players and pieces they can move on and Chessel and also unscarred there but yeah they they definitely just straight up have earned to have more content than Disney plus maybe not necessarily for one demographic but I think for if you look at all demographics not have much more content than some of the other dreaming people out there all right then jumping over to peacock. They did not want to be outdone and the day after. Hbo announced their second wave of content. Peacock actually announced their launched wave of content. And like I said as Kinda hinted at when we're trying to HBO. Max is nowhere near as large asleep as as Hbo Max. They have to dramas. They've got to comedies. To sports shows in three kids shows. And that is basically what. I'm honestly expecting them to have for the most of the remainder of the year because of the content production halts that they've had in place there might be a couple of animated shows the popout out because it can still be working on animated shows and there is a possibility that there are a couple of other shows that could that were in the process of being underproduction. That could still make it out and make its way out before the end of the year but honestly believe that this is what peacock Kes- and deals specifically with the fact. That peacock was so heavily. Reliant on the fact that they were GonNa have so much only content for their launch in July and they don't have that right now so they're limited with what else they have with the Olympic content. They would have had that content fill up and then they could have gradually released new new episodes in new shows over the course of the remainder of the year. And also probably had a couple of extra shows that they don't have at this point and now they're in a situation where they don't have that they don't have the Olympic content to help launch so they're relying on just a small small slate of shows that will. Hopefully you know some of these. I'm sure will be successful in their own way but it it does feel like this is kind of an apple. Tv plus situation where there's a slate it looks like. It could have some plus some pros on it but ultimately it's one of those things where you're still thinking to yourself. There's just not enough content here. Yeah there's next in no content here it definitely gun bit by the bug of bad timing especially with the Olympics moving to the next year in production hold so it's much things that really interest me or to be braved a world just because aldous. Huxley's novel Brave New World is just so nuts that I'm so curious how it's going to be. And then also the the comedy intelligence which is a workplace comedy set at the UK's kind of NSA equivalent to me there's going to be interesting and just just the lack of content. Wow It really stinks because I felt peacock had a good plan and they had if they could just they wanted to be with their competitors right now and okay you have the Olympics and then whatever content we do now and then they're going to get the rights to the office parks and REC NEXT YEAR. Some time and it's like if we just hold over until then but now it's kind of their sitting a lame duck status and they're really stinks for them so they can use this time to kind of be. Alpha slush Beta launch. And then. Maybe they're in a rebrand themselves when production ramps up then really kind of have like a two auto type thing going on you know some time later next year when things seem to be a little bit better. Overall Peacock was one of the one series. That wasn't necessarily excited bill. But the the more important on them the more that it's I was excited in. Its it stinks just for everyone and NBC. All right so with that said we have no other news and we had a bunch of smaller discussions related to some content and Kevin Meyer list leaving Disney. So that is going to wrap up this episode. Be sure to check out the show notes for all the latest trailers released from the past week. There is a good amount quitting a new trailer for Space Force which is show that.
