He how you've prevail nothing behold the world is going after him really yeah look at the next verse even the gentiles there were certain Greeks among them that came to worship at the feast same came therefore to Philip say galleon desired him saying Sir we see Jesus. I have very vivid memories in Los Angeles. There's a giant church downtown that was a very famous pulpit for. Ha ironside and has a proud history and I was down there once not to speak just visiting it was empty but I couldn't resist because of its history to climb up into this in the pulpit overlooking this incredible and as you go up the stairs and you come up into the pulpit the thing you see the plaque sir sir we would see Jesus this this versus there so if you're a guest speakers reminded you what they want to hear about Jesus not whatever you know and I've never forgotten that sort of a reminder to anybody but anyway enough of that so well. It's interesting that the gentiles are showing some interest here so go to Philip which has agreed name and he it descends Andrew which has agreed name and my wife John mentioned the gentiles at this point because because they had rejected Jesus now then really happens in Matthew chapter was another milestone but because the king has now been rejected. It's open to the gentiles. That's what John is subtly beginning to dedicate here and Sir we would see Jesus Philip coming tell Andrew because there again he also also had a great name and again Andrew Phillip till Jesus and Jesus saying the ours come the son of man should be glorified and so so what it moves on its entry whenever by that's interesting when you see study Andrew a little bit you never see Andrew where he's not introducing somebody Christ. He's so he's really dangerous ended into real win so moving on the cross miscount before the gentiles. Can they have access to Christ. That's what John is really acknowledging here. The gentiles recognize him as king at birth. You may recall those are gentile visitors versions and you know about the magic another story and I met his birth and his death and in fact you. CBS record an interesting thing that the king of Syria saw the opposite obstinacy of Jews rejected Jesus he sent an embassy to Jesus to invite him to come to his home promising royal. Welcome now did happen to know what's in the letters anyway whatever moving on Jesus speaking out very very anti you accept a corn wheat fall into the ground and indited abide if alone but if die and bring a fourth much fruit he loved his life shall lose it but he had heinous his life in this world. I shall keep it unto Life Eternal. Wow if any man served me let them follow me and where I am there shall also my servant be if any man served me him will my father owner now is my soul troubled which say father saved me from this hour but for this cause came onto this our father glorified nine then came their voice from heaven and saying I have both glorified it and will glorify it again. Wow these familiar passages in John and maybe so familiar we may lose their impact as he's praying. There's a voice from heaven that doesn't happen very often happened three times that we know of in human history she the saddest strategy of Human History Cross was the purpose coming it was also the greatest victory Nick Ricky well history the purpose oil history was gathering his children the tragedy of history but you would not the triumph all history is blessed you that it comes in the name of the Lord. These three are summarized in Matthew Twenty three the chapter. The purpose tragedy and triumph of all history is all embodied in these events that were reading right here now the voice from heaven that we heard this is the third time that God spoke broke the silence of heaven at least as recorded in scripture the I was at the beginning beginning of Jesus Ministry at his baptism that was recorded mark after one eleven the beginning of last trip to Jerusalem and that was at the at the transfiguration S. figuration in mark nine seven and at the beginning of the final week at the temple here. If you will so okay listeners here the first was natural phenomenon the other ones impersonal angel apparently and the voice of his father here a proper relationship but let's move on the people therefore that stood by heard it and said that if other said and angels speak to him Ah Jesus answered and said the voice came not because of me but for your sakes now is the judgment of this world now shell the prince so this world be cast out and if I I if I be lifted up from the earth will draw all men unto me this he said signifying what death breath should die. We covered this in some depth in John Three the whole idea of the cross and all that was was emblazoned back in numbers twenty one among other places world has cast out that this is the beginning of the end of Satan's dominion and the the the beginning of the triumph of the hearts of men and begin to study here career of Satan but let's move on here the people people answered him and said we have heard out of the law that Christ by forever and how the son of man must be lifted up. Who is this settlement? There's some understandable confusion here because they know the Messiah was going to abide forever they didn't they didn't they had the Jewish the Jewish traditions there's two messiahs one. That's going that's the suffering servant and one that's the reigning king goes from the machine and and they have to messiah concept that they embrace and the most venerated ultra-orthodox when when he died left a note to be opened one year after his death there was made the big news back in two thousand six that the tumors is one has names Yoshua and that really caused a stir Israel but anyway this understand what question Jose South Santa Amendment must be lifted up and so they're puzzled by this and that's it's understandable in my mind G. Senate him yet a little while the light with you walk while you have the light lest darkness. Come on you walk in the dark as no of that whether go it while you have the light believe in the light that you may be children of light these things Jesus and departed and hide himself from them so these are times so we disappear but I wanNA pause here another personal channel anecdote if I may I got very interested in the Bible as a kid I started collecting I just got fascinated with it and I started collecting commentaries and and so forth and as I matured in my studies and later teens as is collected these commentaries I discovered that most of your sophisticated exposition commentaries will tell you that there really is to Isaiah Isaiah and I never bought that and yet it really took the edge off my studies. I didn't reject what I learned but I lost lost my enthusiasm because I ran into the Duterte the Documentary Hype Oz Mon more Moses didn't rewrite the Torah was j five uh nonsense that they promote they're talking about Isiah here though and I want to show you what what was for me in my life one of the most precious lessons that came out of scripture impacting my life to Isaiah says the concept on Sept see in spite of the lack of concrete evidence on any part at any part of Asia existed without the other part is as far back to one hundred two hundred SPEC- yet decided that the Dogma of most scholarship today is that two or more individuals authorization if you go to seminary Mary if you pick up almost any commentary not. I won't say most of them an awful lot of them. They'll tell you what they'll teach you what they call. The DOODO Isaiah the theory that there really is as one that wrote it up to chapter three nine and the other from forty to the end two parts. Most of us were coached at our earliest age to say thank you courtesy our parents taught us is a virtue to be exercised is through modest expressions of gratitude in today's world. However simple gesture of respect are often overlooked and today on insight for living we we have the privilege of listening to a message originally delivered drink thanksgiving season to an audience of seminary students training for full time vocational service given this opportunity to speak at Dallas Theological Seminary Chuck decided to reinforce the value of sustaining an attitude of gratitude Thank you for being here. I'm always honored to be invited to speak and and it's not an easy thing to decide on what talk on when you come to the chapel here I know you recently heard from Charles Stanley that correct Charles Stanley was here great never forget the lady who finished the day at our Church we had our worship service and she came out with one of Dr Stanley's books and she said I want to thank you Stanley for for that message today. She said I'm I'm very grateful and I wonder if you'd signed your book. I'll be glad to so signed it head to remember member Charles Not Andy Stanley wrote Charleston Leeann. She said Oh thank you. I'll treasure this restaurant. She walked out so grateful that she had been there to hear Dr Charles Stanley's who cares you know well. The way we started off today was perfect for what I want to talk on because 'cause I want to talk to you about sustaining the spirit of a heart of gratitude. That's what's on my mind today and I I believe in it wholeheartedly in fact I think an attitude of gratitude is one of the most contagious of all we'll attitudes we can sustain and being around a person who is grateful and frequently uses those two marvelous words thank you often is just a therapy they make us smile will lift our spirits. They really do change our environment within and and around us the impact others can be as simple as the little five year old boy who was telling telling his mother that he was even thankful that he wears glasses and she wanted to know. Why are you thankful for that and his answer was quick lickin simple he said it keeps the boys from hitting me and keeps the girls from kissing me so glasses work? All all of that's going to change but he before too long so you're in for a surprise. I remember the words of the man who wrote he who forgets the language of gratitude can never be on speaking terms with happiness even more profound to the words of Dietrich von offer who wrote in ordinary life. We hardly realize that we receive a great deal more than we give and it is only with gratitude that life breath becomes rich love that line so only with gratitude live becomes rich. It is very easy you to overestimate the importance of our own achievements in comparison to what we owe others I have to add along with that. The flip side of the same coin and that is there is nothing more offensive or oppressive impressive than an attitude of ingratitude which is a characteristic of our that shouldn't surprise this this Paul writes in Romans one just as much as in the last piece that he wrote when he wrote Timothy Roman run Romans one he writes of the of the magnificence of God's artwork in the natural realm home. We call it here at the seminary general revelation and in spite of God writing his glory across the sky is is which mankind is able to read every day of our lives still remains means ungrateful still. There's an attitude of ingratitude when I look at polls words in Second Timothy Three and I read of the savage days in which we live that's the way one of my mentors used to handle the word difficult difficult in verse one of Second Timothy Three in the last days difficult or savage times will dot com and then he begins from there through verse eight to Describe The Times in which we live when men and women will we'll be lovers of money and boastful arrogant and reviled and disobedient to parents in the middle of all of it he he mentions ungrateful along with unholy along with on forgiving on grateful. The spirit of Thanksgiving needs to remain hoping is remaining. I hope you today have not relegated that spirit of gratitude to a holiday and left it there and failed to bring it into today tomorrow next week the Week of finals the week beyond finals next semester into your ministry. Has I'll tell you if a spirit of ingratitude grip shoe strong enough off and long enough you'll change and your ministry will change and it won't take a really insightful person to know that you're difficult to be around because ungrateful people repel repel others now. Why are we so ungrateful? Why are times marked by such ingratitude as is Paul mentions in Romans in second timothy in so many other places at the risk of being simplistic in my analysis is a major reason is pride proud? People don't say thank you. They don't think thank you pride side is of course filled with self and when that is true we hold back our thank. Thank you to others because we're so self important. I'll tell you who will say thank you and do so frequently humble. People broken people crushed contrite. People are quick to say thank you. Thank thank you thank you for the little things thank you for the unexpected things Paul writes to his friends in thessalonica turning there for the rest of my time with you I this alone `lions chapter five toward the end of that letter. There's sort of a Staccato set of statements pom Pom Pom Pom Pom Pom Pom Pom of their brief and he punches him out. When I was taking oboe in high school and Mr Villani read the chair of I share of Oboe in the Houston symphony would come the they made house calls in those days and he was my teacher I love nist of Alani and as I would play duets with him on sometime couldn't continue he was so good and I was so bad bad that it just didn't it hardly blended but we did a couple of duets it worked beautifully and I on occasion with stop and I would just look locate him and how you do it? How can you play so well all the time of course he made his own reads and he'd been playing since he was just a little boy and from another country had come over in of all things had worked which is way into the symphony and when we get to those places that were Sakaba he would say to me punch it out punch it out? Put Your tongue on that read Eh Punch out those news. That's what Paul does at the end of this letter. He punches out the statements including the shortest verse in the entire Greek New Testament. It isn't Jesus wept. We'll get to it in a moment but he begins begins at verse twelve by reminding us to be grateful for a in this case in our context body of people will who pour themselves into your lives and that would be the Faculty of this school so let's have them in mind as as I punch out this twelve verse with you we request of you brothers and sisters that you appreciate those who diligently labor among you and have charged over you in the Lord and give you instruction we appreciate them. He goes on and that you esteemed them very highly in love because of their work isn't that great don't let this semester pass without pausing with each one of your profs for at least a few seconds to look them in the eye or with your own hand knotted not an email. It's cheap way to write a thank you do it by hand you who still have some kind of penmanship left all of starting to write like physicians it looks these days but if you've still cultivate your penmanship right in your own hand and say it in a fresh creative way specifically naming what particular thing stands out in that particular teacher that has much to you express your appreciate I am still thinking my props and most of them aren't lift but those who are is not uncommon when I see them to. Thank thanked him again for teaching me what they taught me which was more than an ability to handle the biblical taxed I it was it was a touch. I'm kind of like the difference between a piano player. Pianist is touch great profs help you with touch in lives in touch with the text and and those who work with you in in the skill of communicating they help you do that better and I. I'm honest honest to this day. When I preach I think I learned that technique from that particular person I think he's gone now but I think thank you Lord for the privilege of rubbing up next to him sitting in his home in a class of eight individuals as he poured into into us some techniques communication about still use steam him very highly in love and some time a process to reprove and thank him for that fateful or the wounds of a friend but deceitful or the kisses of an enemy proverbs twenty seven six? I've always loved the story that my humble that told us that he had a young young man that was convinced he had the gift of Preachy and he didn't he just couldn't preach paper bag and he just was convinced he should preach and his mother was convinced he should preach and his grandmother was convinced he should preach the prophecy did his best endure and finally by the third year which was a particular year when we came to terms some of these things you just told young man look you just don't have used some of that. The gift left of preaching that takes guts to say that too young person young man he said Oh yes I do well okay the Prophet then. Let me put it this way. Nobody I know has the gift of listening to you so that work and as I recall he didn't go into a preaching ministry and the way to a successful ministry not GonNa tell you what it is because your lab but thankfully didn't go into the pope and shouldn't have not everybody ought to be an appropriate to carry out their ministry. We've we've approved. Thanks for telling them and that's the top part of your job. Keep telling him he telling the truth so that we hear great thank you for it and so let's just make concentric circles goat little broader and let's include now now our family members look at the end of verse thirteen live in peace with each other. We've urged you. Here's another one of those Takata moments we urge you. Admonish the unruly you have to do that sometime. In a family encourage the faint hearted help a week be patient with everyone the patient with everyone and then the circle broadens with friends and with others in life see that no one repays another with evil evil for evil but always seek after that which is good for one another and for all people and then begins a real brief statements rejoice rejoice always there's the shortest verse shorts and all the Bible but what a what a grand command I WANNA be around people like that. I WANNA be around those that are finding joy in life in spite of their circumstances and here's another one pray without ceasing hacking cough pray in that kind of consistency pray continually constantly prey creole your heart prayer and your lips prayer for specific individuals specific needs and here we are in everything everything give thanks for this as God's will for you in Christ Jesus. This has referenced every circumstance every circumstance. There's not one that he doesn't include in your circumstances today. Be Thankful grateful a road apiece for our board of directors at insight for living and I want to read it to you. I don't usually do this but I wanna WanNa do it. Today has everything to do with being a fateful person and I'll try to keep it interesting though I'm reading what I'm sharing with you never forget the day. Even though I was only ten years old it was a Wednesday it was the day before Thanksgiving our sandy ramrod-straight next to my I disc in south made elementary school hand over my heart is we were together as students pledging allegiance to the flag of the United States of America which we did every morning hanging by the flag that was draped before us in the class was large framed picture of our president who was gripped with Polio Leo and he was younger but he had a big smiling face and it was familiar to all of us because he's a very popular president and I had to remind myself that he had had polio because it was never emphasized and he never referred to do it there. He stood smiling at the class as we pledged allegiance following our pledge our teacher as she had always done post to pray so she bowed her in prayer and we we bowed with her and I noticed it wasn't very long before her voice broke. I've never heard our art a teacher cry and before long she just couldn't continue and she just had heaves of sobbing and my heart went out tour whatever it was. I didn't know what it was till later. She was in deep grief. We were of course in a double war on each side of our country. It was a pretty bleak time and she had lost her husband on the shores of Normandy is nineteen forty four and she was going going on without him and this was their first Thanksgiving her first Thanksgiving without him and her heart was breaking this. This brave woman refused to allow her grief to eclipse the significance of giving thanks so she finally was able to get hold of her emotions and she returned to thanking God for a number of things things. I was lost in sympathy for her in a little boys pity for his teacher. When I was walking home that Crisp November afternoon in east Houston and that was the day I really fell in love with Thanksgiving and loved it ever since my all time favorite holiday and I'll tell you why momentarily stopped stop on the way home and I thank God for my teacher for our school for are my friends for my church for my family from my country I remember as a little boy swearing before for the Lord that if I ever was able to do so I would defend our country and I didn't understand fully all that but I remember thirteen years later when I had the privilege having earned the right to wear the dress blues wearing the uniform of the Marine Corps and standing and pledging allegiance to the flag and more often than not saluting it as it was raised and lowered each morning and evening on the island of Okinawa saw was eight thousand miles away from all interesting how on those occasions I would remember my ten year old experience and my teacher and to this day I remember her thanksgiving? That's what happened so you get usually is that and I was in bed five minutes go but got up earlier today. Do some stuff now. This is today is going to be interesting in the second hour of Dr Jeffrey Singer he he owns a part of surgical clinics limited which is really interesting Israel's largest and oldest group private surgical legal practice in Arizona is also senior fellow at the Cato Institute in Washington. DC He was in involved in the creation the passage of the Arizona Healthcare Freedom Act and servers as treasurer of the US Health Freedom Coalition which promotes state constitutional protections of freedom freedom of choice in healthcare decisions. It was a regular contributor to Arizona Medicine the Journal of Arizona Medical Association from Ninety Four to sixteen he also also serves as as as as one of the things that they do they have a surgical clinic or whatever in Oklahoma uh-huh and you go there and it's you know it's McDonald's prices are us. It's like a gallbladder. You know maybe twelve thousand dollars anesthesiologist a couple of thousand dollars. If you want to be put out you know what I mean. It's just listed right there. This is what it's cash money. Show me some cash money and it's like a fraction of what it it is that if you come in I get the cash you get you get the gallbladder removed or whatever the hell and we're done bom a lot of people they call it. You know anything I go yeah I do I mean do you have any money. I mean you know what to well. Yeah Gosling Rainy Day Fund well. It's raining you know so fork over the silver and boom home so it's great to have these people that just libertarian doctors to skip to the end and I tell you it's it's confidence in a lot of times people ligo. Now I need the protections of the I got this. I've S- throwdown my certificate and I get the hack on Y'all kinds of whatever and it's kind of a man I had my you. You know I have my permission slip from the crown assuming this is it's going to be the wave of the future and I remember when it first. I started it. was you know with all this. How I met a lot of these doctors guys in activism against the original Obamacare Hillary Care during the Clinton Administration Hillary Clinton had set up private meetings and this was like a big controversy are they public meetings with government agents agents and so on involved in little tax money here and there what the Hell's going on and how they're drafting legislation for taking over the the planets healthcare and the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons not to be confused with the American Medical Association? They were on the freedom side. You know they're out of here. At a Tucson. Jane Aurea runs it now and it's just been they sued the Clinton administration and they go. I think what you're doing is kind of wrong so that became a big deal kind of killed that if it wasn't for them and I remember writing editorials in the Wall Street Journal local papers and all that kind of stops and we invite them to different things we go there things and we just kind of you know expanded our you you think so I've known jeopardy for a long time main thing that he a lot of people would know him for around here is is he kind of led the initiative to do away with this. I think it was Arizona. 's income tax and the legalization or partial decriminalization of marijuana back in the nineties Arizona's one of the first states it was in the ninety eight ninety six or ninety eight and there was ninety eight election cycle and you know it was kind of maybe pay anything it was like if you get caught with marijuana you wanna you just get a misdemeanor and Y- you gotta take these classes we gotta get police. Some classes teach classes. We gotta do classes and somebody let me get some money. In class mandated classes you know this kind of crap and I just saw the libertarians. We'd come and go what a piece of crap we would never do. We want we bet is to get their heroin. You know if they want to seven-year-olds can reach the counter and pay for her at seven eleven the opium laudanum or whatever you know so it's just total freedom saying well of course a lot of people. Oh my God you guys are so rack. We're all laughing our asses off because made them look moderate. They're like Oh. He's guys WanNa do is just take away. A little you know kind of alpher a little maybe win and kind of on the condition of all these conditions thought so they look past the seventy six percent while we're bitch about whole time which I still would because it was created this this this industry in the people making money as always about who's going to get the money when they did a few years ago they had an initiative. I was not not I'll hail. No I got a lot of my friends or on my ass but early you get this is a and it will never go away. This is the biggest piece of crap. It's might as well be big Pharma Arma Marijuana. That's what it was coming down to way. They want it. Is that from seed to pipe. It's like one company you had to be. You grow grew it. You processed it and then you had dispensaries distributing it and they wanted to have monopoly marijuana for the crime going. Really you guys do whatever you want to grow my own my own do okay well. Then you guys not premium scumbags so it didn't pass and it didn't it shouldn't have either it was they were trying to force his through. It's got one on it and that people in Arizona Zolder the bit more savvy certainly those that they'll go vote. I think it matters but I'm I'm yeah there. I there's there's going to be more education. It has the last I bet you has a good impact probably about no three election cycles six years eight years. Maybe a decade you'll get if you get a good dose adjust real controversy and and you put logic and reason you got all this hype early these guys just going off to die over here because this and the other side we're going to die because this and then you know the libertarian kind of well. You might die but you get to be free while you're dying okay. I think we'll do that especially when the alternative sucks so this is what's going to be twenty twenty. I'm going to we're working on the back and we have been for awhile while years really but really last few months. We just getting Freedoms Phoenix to where it's going to have a lot of different subscription options. You always be free to do that. Ah to go look at it. You know everything's there it always be free. Forget the email dispatch but there's a lot of other tools in there and sections and things that you can do that I do and we're open open ended up. Everybody and they'll give you lots of power so we're GONNA charge for that. Plus it opportunity people support so we'll have that big rollout but when that happens there's going to be a special you pay for something Ernie blog thing now it'll be you know we'll we'll see how open we make it or you can get to it if and you know whatever secret handshake or something but it's raise money to start because there's inflation and so on and we have a lot of primary supporters that they shouldn't have to carry and I only go to them and say hey we got this other expense. We need to kind of and they keep up and and you know but I'm like Nah. It's time you guys got but were stable enough and got things covered and invested enough and have it ready so so that we don't have this day to day operation freakout. We gotta have money thing now. We got prostate. I'll tell you a little bit about Duff Rothstein. Oh it's the earnest handcock show where we're going their arms in a row in the third hour. I got finished on Diane. I didn't get it in squeezed in the first segment here. Tell you Diane Douglas Topics. It's GONNA be medical freedom in the land of the free parental choice as parents involved in education etc now she was Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction. That is an elected position statewide. That's in charge of the schools and such and it was I you know I did a little research yesterday. I've kind of vaguely. I don't pay attention to these guys that much and just when I get a good opportunity to to have some fun but she is. I get the impression she is a kind of a foundational constitutional a right wing wing you know save the children thing and had a Christian support a lot because there was a controversy about whether whether she they're gonNA teach evolution or something they had something to do with it. She immediately had a recall put again and she won in her primary. She beat the Democrat crap pretty well nearby. I don't know enough points five ten points or something but just squeak by in the primary now when the next election action as she had there were five at least five candidates in their one guy fourteen percent and the rest of them got between twenty money in twenty two so I think the winner was something like twenty one point eight two and she was in third place twenty one point five or something I mean it was like a three way way tie there so they you know just made sure yeah you are close closed. It was really close anyway okay so she loses in the primary and she wasn't superintendent of Public Instruction Anymore. The controversy around day them those wanted her really bad be gone so I need to find out why now go I could see the mechanism here the games that play just by looking at history on the elections and some of the controversy and how they word the wikipedia well she was controversial got and it's the same phrases praises on all these different reports you go back and historical of this and somebody said data that and the Pala Pedia or whatever the hell it is show when you go and you see you go choose targeted and promoted by whom which ones who was what so this for her coming out and doing the vaccine education summit and talking about you know medical freedom and you know children in the school system and so on. I don't care what she says. It's going to be interesting and we're going to talk to her and the third hour now. Ask Oh the interesting questions. What was your first memory at three? I mean we're going to and because it's third hour we can go long if she's he's available and we're GONNA WE'RE GONNA education now. We don't want to give away too much because she's speaking at the summit the summit going well looks like we got everything kind of December. I gotta go pick up some more remarketing banners and different things today and Irene earlene Donna and I had meetings the zoom last night and yacking it up and I think it's there's a lot more pieces than a Lotta. People realize I haven't really done this kind of thing before anchor anchor starting but this whole thing has been also a training thing for them because they're not gonNa want to be associated with Ernie any longer than half too because I know what's going to happen. They're wanting to deal with legislation and do and play the game and and so much so when we do our stuff they don't want to have to be making excuses for part of understand and calm because I don't deal in the now ideal in the future everything that I do as a cumulative live and a lot of these guys in politics. They don't think that way she it's just like it's like a long term thinking. CEO's of visionary they got twenty years down the road of what they want to accomplish and they'll plow through and this is what we got to get to and you're just distraction a government permit or whatever the hell and they'll just go longworth burden. You know it's a long term thing then. You've got the guys that are this quarter this quarter this quarter this quarter this quarter my bonus in this quarter so when you had that kind of thinking you never really achieve any long-term goals. You're just jumping around based on whatever stimulus you'd get to get you to do. Whatever you want and then comes crashing down? You're gone to the next one kind of thing well. I got like grandkids man. This has got to be a long this. You know long term game plan for them. Kim has been for thirty years. Our kids grew up with the mantra. We're raising you to be oh you parents to our grandchildren so we don't have to be that was the point you are responsible for putting food on your family you you are responsible putting a roof over there. You are responsible thing you you you. We take care of you so you can take care of them. So this is then then we get to be grandparents and wanted to be a parent grandma. I love you know when my kids go dad you know our children and it dip dip dip dip dip. You're absolutely correct. I have no opinion so when it comes down Astra Mom and Dad ask your mom and Dad. You don't want to get into this thing well. Papa said I do not know. Papa says you know mom and dad says number one. You have some influence in opinion you get that whatever but that's where the conflict we don't have this conflict about who's in charge parents be in charge but they got to be responsible so my children are responsible. They get to play apparent. Play grandparent all good so this is kind of what I'm hoping that society and it starts to realize is when you gonNA grow up and be a mom and dad we wouldn't be an adult not a child about that so it throughout history you got the philosophers of Ancient Greece going on about how the next generation is doomed because they suck and they you don't whatever because it's a generational thing. That's what they keep talking about this for turning. There's a book called the fourth turning. I read it well really auto auto bold kind of the same thing so drive around somewhere. Everybody's been recommending the sang and we're into that and it goes in like eighty year cycles take every twenty years. You'll have you know they'll do this. In the next twenty years it's kind of this and then you get to the fourth turning and at four turning brings you back the beginning so it's Kinda a revolution thing you know it's always comes around and with what intensity how large an area over what primary issues and it's always the same issue it's associate path that have consolidated power over for everybody else and because they let them and then there's this breaking free of this is N. Over time you have more and more minds and thoughts and and distilling of concepts and ideas that are consolidate to general public opinion and then it becomes power the American revolution you're talking. I mean I think all all the people maybe fifteen sixteen percent even had an opinion either way you know but it was a few percent of those that actually actively were involved in and revolution and what people do it on the side and let me know what flag I gotTa Salute. You know when you guys get done. Let me know it. Oh but there's this tireless few this in this this this this intense minority does well which is what they're trying to replicate where the Progressive Movement S J W via death in the salon. Were probably going to go along if she's available. There's this is your the highest ranking person in charge of DAD system and it's the biggest budget here in the state so you know is that tell you so it's always the left. They want manny. All your buddies get paid this flay going to put in the grant and fill out the right paperwork and kind of here comes to check and there was a time I remember she was trying to fire a couple of people and I'm sure she had a good reason but it finally goes to went to court and they said Nope. You know you don't have the power you only the Board State Board of somebody you. Can you know what she's like really now so I there's a lot of interesting stuff in there and she's still involved in parental rights education and inside you see these kinds of issues that bring coalitions together and I only play one thing. I don't like meetings. I don't like sitting there talking jerking around. That's that's our is I could have been actually doing something and spend time with my family or something and you bet it'd be pretty charming. You want me to whatever tomorrow morning I meet with the legislator that really looking forward to this one because they speak the same language they know what I mean by a lot of things I how what they're gonNa to do about it and how hard to work and what games are playing. We're GONNA find out but and they're going to be very coy in who they target with this guy I mean it's going to be yeah. You don't they the after their name. Go get him. You know that kind of thing. I'm like seriously traders. First Traders First Traders I so give me that one Republican Alan. Can you tell me a story but a lot of times it's the people they try to protect the most that need to be penetrated to and it's people have power that get that power and then they wield that power by trading off our rights to get whatever it is that they want or somebody else wants to put put them there. It's really no more complicated than that. They keep trying to make it more complicated and it's not this is all about the power the power the power what I learned in the in the eighties early nineties when I started getting involved in this first legislative campaign was in ninety and it was just to get standing. We did it as a write eight in campaign but it had a crapload signs. I mean we were all I said. ooh You can put up free signs. I mean they let you do it. Oh take this do it and we're going to do it for ten years. I was the deal Donna give me ten years and then we'll revisit this and she gave me permission slip to keep doing it all so then he saw the benefits well during that time it was an accumulation of information an inspiration for others if dip crap earning and do it we'll do that yeah. I was Kinda hoping you guys see when I first came across all I used to be okay. This is something I haven't talked about in high school. I was a member Knbr at large council is like a popularity contest or something popular whatever good friends and that was president and Vice President Treasurer as your secretary and all that and member at large and you had to wrap or something like that so I go okay. I'll do this one. I like that there's really no responsibilities and I get a vote. Go do that so did that. I think I was treasurer my junior year or something but it was I could see what really was happening. Is he had responsibility to raise money do something senior year you take your budget and he gives them gift back to the school or something. That's kind of long lasting neil cool stuff show as we did that and I could tell there are some people that were just natural leaders that I really respected. I like I didn't want to do it myself. I didn't have the confidence stat. I had hell no out of spell enough. You know my grammar was on the publisher spelling writings crap. I get the same thing you know and we're what do you call it or check or something. spell checker is my best friend and before that it was I do all my court cases and everything I write all the stuff out and do all the research Donna cotton and let me tell you there is t. h. E. I R. AH you're killing me so I'm just so simple. You know stuff like that so I didn't have the confidence to be the front guy on this stuff and I knew I the back end back in. I give good back in we take care of the back in there is going to be all kinds of stuff being done okay. I didn't come out right but anyway you talk show. I'm going go ahead and see if we can find somebody else so I called my friends from high school in Stuart Guy Go and this was and I was like in my twenty still and I go look man. There's some I don't think you you guys know about the gun already. No no we're good. Oh got good jobs. They didn't WanNa rock the boat. They're on their way osborne upward. They weren't thinking it was important enough or they were going to do something about it or and like most people they just went so the people that I considered leaders or political whatever the hell out of respect for and I trusted to kind of orchestrate these kinds of things the front person and I could do a lot of work behind the scenes. There just weren't interested. We're not at that time in life. Where do you find these people? They were always always a conspiracy patriot. John Birch Society kind of not that they were wrong. Turn out be right all the time. I got more respect from going damn and they call that one again to didn't they so but it was just their demeanor was not you know it was just you know this Alex Jones e. Oh my God. We're all going to die thing as opposed to this long long term marathon in it to win it for the long term grandkid thing there wasn't very many of them and the only ones is that I ever found came around and had a Lhasa it was libertarians. It was I found my tribe and then of course you got you know whatever problem inside that too two but these are the people that were intellectually you know they're usually more intelligent. They're usually more well rounded in philosophy philosophy and awareness and and things that they knew how they were different type you know some going okay but the biggest thing that I noticed was their confidence. If you go to a progressive or a conservative and you have discussions and they go well this is that in in you know I'm reading off my three by five card bullet points of rush limbaugh out and you go yeah but that means this Oh yeah well I got the counter counted that in on the other side three by five card and you go yeah but you go about three deep they go. Hey man there's no third side of the card so they just fold they were NBC non player characters. They were just re Girgis. It's almost like they're a program. That's evidence. We're in a matrix trix man when you're around the block and he says say the same thing which is win that. NPC thing came out there was it was amazing to resistance to that uh-huh Whoa we they they found us. I mean you'll figure it out. You know Kinda thing 'cause they're people are just they just react. You know when this stimulus goes. The proper response is this it was like it was a game and you're gone. Wow Man shaking you think for yourself but as time went on didn't take long. I mean within a few months no more than a few years. You're going now these people. They're not they don't count. They're not effective. They're not in the discussion. Pc and I'm going okay. I don't feel sorry for you. Don't WanNa be you know. Just ignore them you. Some people get get bogged down in that. They're just WanNa have that discussion you know unless there's an audience there to have the discussion the forum or a campaign or something like that or referendum initiative or some issue or you're out with a sign or unless there's some camera that's on honor your videotaping or doesn't matter why even talk to these guys change them. DOT FM freedom is the answer. What's the question free listening to ernest the Red Rum to break? We're going to do that. We're undo that we're going to do that. We're going to you know last night. We had a podcast with James Corbett Japan the Corbett report doc hall and is recent article was it wasn't a video yet probably should be the ratings game. How the banking Mafia operates there was interesting conversation? We only went for forty minutes without commercial interruption and you know. I don't like to bring this. I don't want to get all detail but my Donna's brother younger younger brother is one of the senior. VP of head of whatever the hell over at Moody's and of course you got five billion senior VP's but you know you get to sit in the meetings so they rate it keeps changing. I mean over the years he's rated. You're like all newspapers Bond New York Times kind of stuff or you know he does this He. He does that and housing whatever the heck it was so a decade ago I went on to explain this to me the heck these guys get triple a ratings. The bottom line comes down to like what Japan in Japan would have housing prices real estate was shoot through the roof and it was because the banks kept selling each other. We sell to this guy for a little bit more than this guy a little bit more than this guy the will of course the prices are going up at some point they start they go to the public. Oh it's time to get in and and multi generational mortgages you would go into a home. They show this on like sixty minutes or so. They did a thing on it. They're going in this ooh space for a family so it'd be like a one bedroom maybe a small apartment condo and pay ungodly amounts hundreds hundreds of thousands of dollars for this crap and you go in they pay it but they keep the payment down. It would be like out Oh fifty seventy year sang to wear it would be passed down to your children and I'm going what well that's what's going on with our debt. There's passing it onto that children sign here. Oh you're not even born yet. Well you know we'll just say you signed. Are you're automatically signed. When you come of age this? This is the one thing that they do for like selective service when you come of age you're just in Yep Yep. When you come of age you you gotta show up at school? You'd better you'd better be showing up us on the list some list ahead of something shot child protective services gonNA come explain it to your parents so this is this creep into creepy. nece is creepy so so this this ratings game what was happening is would the mortgage backed securities and such they were just selling amongst each other back back and forth to where it got to a point that they go well. It's maintained so many so many quarters. It's done this past performance of much crap. It is nobody's looking behind you know the scenes and seeing that nobody's making their mortgage payments and they're behind three months on this tron mergers turn your house and we're supposed to go through the county recorder's Office to transfer Gary just turn it into a number and just trading on Wall Street and when you come back to make your pay is going to another company that didn't own it anymore. The other guys is waiting for another foreclosing on you like what the hell just happened. This happened a bunch of Friends of ours on you're going this is so the nego look man. Just show me the deed you know and the mortgage together camp nope you separate well. It cancels the debt per. This law goes to the ninth circuit and they said Yeah but what they really meant is the banks get to keep their your money anyway so there's no respect. There's no you keep hearing this lot rule of law we have to have rule of the law what they mean is Blah Blah Blah Blah but they're coming down to it applies to the man as much as it applies to us. It's always yeah but you you guys did wrong and whenever if it was me that was that it'd be I lose you. Take and we're done what happens when you don't do it matter so much. This is a an accumulated pressure of injustice that is known and had a big impact on just just everybody. That's when you have revolutions. We had a t shirt. I didn't think of that. We got a screen. You know it's making more sense now. What it was there was a tedtalk done by a guy and he said go and came for this? Make sure I had no clue what happened was a guy gave a Ted. Talk on wind revolutions happen and how it worked was whenever you have have whenever you would have you only get this full screen okay the difference between the promise and what is actual is the beginning of the Revolution Lucien. This is when it happens and this is how he described it. We had a shirt that had a graph you know had you know a vertical line a horizontal line and it started in the corner and it goes okay the promise Thomason government and he had the promise Inigo we're going to we're going to this decoration dependence constitutional rights pinky swear and promise so the promise you know goes up little kind of goes down at this low. You can get to have a government that says they're free then you have have the actual and you have another graph that goes you know they. They have the civil war you know they accumulated a bunch of power take away from the state eight say passed the Fourteenth Amendment you're all slaves then they do The irs and the Federal Reserve and then they had the so you got at this you know this this reality that's going on and the promise at the promise the reality as time goes on that gap between what was promised and what the reality is gets wide enough to where there's no respect for the rule of law. There's no promises kept there's no it's just the gap gets so much that revolution and they they then those you know whoever or anybody they use that gap to justify I support for whatever it is going red and we're gonNA have some social. We're GONNA fix it with this fix it with that. Whenever they come in they always promised almost the same things more equality more? Ill diversity more acceptance more tolerance more freedom or more more more that usually they crank it down for whatever their version of it is and you get Anisim you get this that is cure ism right here so this was something that we did it in a shirt art and it said government doesn't work. I want my money back now. The people that like that phrase we take the graph out and they I just want that. It's the government doesn't work. I want my money back but it also goes onto a graph. That was the original I asked you complicated. You can't read it that well kind of probably doesn't transfer to shirt great but it's really good explanation of this and you see starkly gets more of those shirts or find some get them out. We'd keep going away and I gotTa make more so the point of this is. I think that that gap is getting to the point. This is where revolution happens to what now that's what they try and manage see. We're now in charge of the marble statues in Washington and you know we're in charge now but the Hillary Twenty twenty okay so I'm like yeah that's the problem there can't be. I want three thousand thousand miles away. You know somebody telling me what to do. I know I'm good. I we have our own state constitution. We got her own influences. And how do we go national. If we have to all right fine we'll go play a game but I see that gap is getting so wide and when this next economic crisis hits which it's going to win it does what will the people abandoned and what will they sprint or run poured is going to be the constitution is going to be the bill of rights. Is it going to be the declaration of Independence is going to be something else else. As you're going to be. Mars you know like we're on the beach in Mexico so America. It's going to be an example for a lot the people a lot of places and what's going to be the solution Russia oldest. Go live in China do that. It'd be better you know. We're sprinting pointing towards China. It'd be like them in so many ways. It's Redick okay so now I'm going. What's the solution? I don't know any other other than what I've been doing. It's how can we be. I'm I- freedoms the answer. What's The freaking question if I can get that you know implanted and people just go yeah yeah free and you got a bunch of examples of this when goes now but what would happen people run red lights and all this other stuff you know it's just a lot of knee jerk default not having government do it and whenever whenever whatever you do don't put it we'll take care of it better ourselves and Homeowners Association of Zomba whatever private thing you WanNa do so we need to have does options legal and when people come up with some creative ways and be legal make it illegal? No No. You're thing is working. We don't want work so that's kind of where I play and we're going to chronicle it in twenty twenty and I'll share it with you guys or private. We have some good news. They'll have to engage with local communities on what they need. Lisa Fraga is a second grade teacher an Eugene Education Association member. She says that's fitting because community members helped push this law over the top with red for ED rallies in May teacher walkouts. That happened have been less than a week before legislators passed the Student Success Act if you went to any of those places where teachers were kicking action for investment in public communication you would have found many parents many children people from the community who stood up with US officials. The other delegate in the Video Conference Morgantown Democrat Evan Hansen said the most serious issues Jews were water pollution and climate change hinshaw seemed somewhat open to a market trading carbon credits saying he preferred that to a simple carbon tax is he also spoke favorably about Bill Hanson has sponsored to allow companies to get electricity from solar rays built on former coal mines but the closest the speaker came to say climate change is a real global crisis came when pointing out that the state's economy is still dependent on fossil fuels rules can't trust said the local tax picture is part of what leaves West Virginia tied to coal and gas they fund public school systems in many of our town so being been called were dealing with or talking about a problem. Declare your independence Amir's Dak visa a from the studios of ask that was for you Jeffrey. Aren't you happy Jeffrey Singer Good Friend for longtime twenty years or so do a lot of stuff and Jeffrey is a surgeon here in Arizona but he also has what is your participation the patient in the clinic and Oklahoma clinical. I don't disparity clinic in Oklahoma. I've written about the clinical yeah no. I hear you're a lot about it from me. I just thought you'd do you ever use them and you go there to do. Operations I'm spoken many times with the founder and director Smith and when I gave a course free issue extension on healthcare policy I got him to guest lecturer by skype and he's a really interesting very informed guy. You know semi his information to this is fascinating see I I just I thought you were associated with because you're pimping it all the time and see he even promote stuff. They don't get financial interest. That was very nice so so what it is is a surgical clinic hospital. It's like you know here's anesthesiologist. Here's operating table. Here's our clean scalpels. Here's our when you you go get operation and it shows the pricing is going to sound much this cost how much cost you don't want anesthesia. You Save yourself a few thousand dollars but it's going really suck okay sort of what it would about ten years ago anybody who wants to look into it should just go to their website. It's called the surgery center of Oklahoma and I think their website bositis surgery center okay dot com. Maybe not exactly should it's a really good example the kind of options and that freedom provides sides and it saves a lot of money but that's not what the insurance industry in the Hotel Hotel hospitals are about. They're not about saving money yeah about ten years ago. he's a board certified. Ask these jobs supportive largest anesthesia group in Oklahoma City and he got disgusted with the whole third party payments system could his group convinced that a couple of other guys quit within that's Inter- capital they bought and refurbished a surgery just center that turned into a surgical specialty hospital they take no insurance Medicare Medicaid they don't have to be HYPOCR compliant because they take Medicare on next penalties they take that Medicare plan rules and basically he got all the various surgical specialties he's involved. There are all kinds of investors as well. He said to the orthopedist wanted. You guys have a medium green among yourselves. It's what your best cash price would if you want to do here same thing for ent guys of General Surgery Center and website. You'll see a drop down menu says our procedures and lists everything that's it's done there and it gives a cash price which includes everything so what I like I said so. How do you co those procedures in those codes CBS titles and by the way like you see a surgeon in other areas that you don't get surprised billing because is this a bundled code? The price includes surgeons feeding anesthesiologists be the facility charge q tip and and if you need to example apple of getting some sort of orthopedic joint implant what purchases the prosthesis that you're the pizza's going to put a new he range shows you a copy of the invoice that he will he paid for it. He just wants to get reimbursed was no markup on that and if so much less expensive then then hospitals and doctors and he's making a decent profit so he's he's now proselytize run country trying to convince other doctors start this. Give me the man's Info Man. We'll be prophesyzing. You know big time. I get him on your show. He's a very interest now known all over also well I've had had you know we've talked about it before and got enough information from you that I don't know why my head. I thought you'd you're such an advocate. I thought you're participating dissipating in it in some way. Do you do that kind of stuff here in Arizona. Is there a cash Dr Jeffrey Singer Price. Yeah there is an soda artisan my group we accept patients who don't have insurance and we we have our own priceless but we also you know we make adjustments justice depending on the situation we negotiate and then Ernie has a bunch of silver. You go you know they. We work on that right now. The only the only flying you went is when we try to Dr Smith as Blanche. He's he's got his own center so I could easily call an anesthesiologist saying I got a patient here wants to pay cash would you to do for X. and and I could commit that to the patient because he'll do it for you. The problem is the places to do it. So most of the office of surgical facilities in Arizona are connected. The hospitals in hospitals are uncooperative. They don't WanNA lower their price because they use their list price as sticker price price that they negotiate with three point eight years and they don't want working around that the go for less than that because that's going to hurt the negotiation awesome so that's the hardest challenge for US okay now. What is is there some legal obstacle is era certification of Ama doesn't like and you're kind of not supposed to and allowed you know here in Arizona? Do you need some change legislation. I'm going to start being a butthead again in twenty twenty. You Know Mazal. We'll just dog pilot on the list man. Tell me what's up. You know we can get some free to my monnet mind game. He doesn't have any issues on the other with this. This is not not in era. It's not what really is there a surgical place here in Arizona where you can do this and you don't it's not affiliated with the hospital spindle and I got my gallbladder and I go to you know gallbladders us in Scottsdale somewhere does that exist. There are a number of three standing surges centers. There's and that's oftentimes where we end up needing to go because they got a little more flexibility. They don't have the bureaucracy so we can call you know the outpatient surgical facility connected to a hospital and say what's your price we gotta check with billing and then billing has to check with administration astray Shin Blah Blah Blah and it can take a long time getting back and inflexible words. He's freestanding searches and it's usually just speak to the person in charge. Get Advancer and Okay Yeah See. It's not doesn't seem streamlined to me. You know the thing is I'm looking at these urgent care things you know so we rarely go to the doctor. I had blood work just done up like Monday of things all great wonderful your superior human being but ah was like three years before I had my blood work done then and then like a decade before that every went to the doctor for anything so I'm not a big giant need then. I don't have my bucket of pills and you know I just got my humidor marriage. You want when I say that out loud anyway so I got my own. I'm good the thing is though is that I'm looking for the freedom to be able to negotiate with. That's how a lot of us you know libertarians kind of deal we know Dr this Dr that a doctor and we take take care of business. The problem is that I'm not feeling that there was a big wave of this medical freedom that the government in Arizona would you just sit by and allow it to happen or do you think the attitude here is such that freedom and medical piece out go ahead you think a wide open because when we go to urgent care Donna cut her arm or I needed something or you'll just little stitches at something like that it's fifty seventy bucks. You're in and you're out. You're done awed. You start doing that for everything is they're going to be opposition. I don't know we're GONNA find out from Dr Jeffrey Singer. Never GonNa get in to this opioid Oy Dang. We hadn't even started on that yeah. He's heavily involved with the Cato Institute. We got actual factual there Dr Geoffrey Jeffrey Senior Fellow at the Cato Institute now they brought the boy over nate he started working. He got a bunch of nickel and wow man you're. You're doing a lot of work. We just wanted to put your name on our letterhead. We didn't know you're going to actually do stuff you know so this is how tell me about how that how that worked when you came over to Cato. I know you know a lot of the guys you trigger you. Go there. You know rubber chicken meetings and whatever the heck you do but I tell you they wanted to get them. AM Some Jeffrey Singer Nature's work for them. You know my my point is is that you know. Did they want. I want you for your your name and what you've accomplished here in politics and all that you're like you're exactly what they wanted and I think they were just happy to have your name and you actually was like right and doing some work and they go damn okay exactly as you know I've. I've been involved in public policy for many years. It's always been an interest of mine and for several years I was an adjunct at the Cato is through which means that you kinda occasionally would work almost like sort of like a volunteer thing Yup they avail yourself of their their facilities and get some were published and then in in recent years as I've gotten more mature in my practice out and say I became senior doctors a senior doctor. What the Hell's that mean yeah and I'm the senior partner with my medical group I decided I wanted to make change sorta cutback my practice to only part time? We've got a few days a week. I'm actually working after this. I'm going to go to work as one of just for work and I wrote the Cato. A student said I do more work than Justa occasional on and off and because of my background The the agreed read of course because my back on in Department of Health Policy Studies because I'm a doctor and it turns out that right now among the hottest topics on on public policy agenda last couple years has been your issue and now the beeping issue so while it was originally expecting to get more involved things like FDA reform and health insurance reform which I still am very interested in and do some work in this kind. It's very suited for guy with a medical degree so you know I just jumped in okay now. This is one thing when you became a senior fellow at you. Send me stuff Paul per dot com boom. You sent me stuff. Put it okay. This is the trend that I was seen. It seems to me that your position Kato and all this kind of stuff is it's not the doctors and patients. It's not even big Pharma are opioid problem is because of what I'd say at the end of the day is because of drug for this. That's the ultimate want to get to the root of it is thrown Corpus and in fact oh I co authored a study came out it was in Public Superior View Science Literature in the Journal of Research in February this year we looked at numbers going back as far back as the national survey on drug use health goes back the national survey of drug use and health is conducted by the nationalist sub drug abuse. It's SORTA like a sensible because the relief we also compared to data from the CDC Center for Disease Control and we have found that what they call past month non medical use of prescription pain reliever by persons aged twelve hundred basically he's been flatlined since they started taking the survey two thousand node change also pass to you're diagnosed with what they call pain reliever use disorder which in plain English is like fiction problem a person's east woman up since they started taking a survey two thousand two basically we have flat line on Kirk meanwhile during between two thousand two and two thousand twelve the volume of prescription wheels written roughly doubled okay and then because governments citing that it was those restrictions that are doing this clampdown so from two thousand about two thousand donate to to present the Ryan of restrictions have gone down more than thirty percent overall and sixty percent for the high dose of opiates now what's happening all during that time again past months non medical use of prescription pain relievers no change s you're diagnosed with you you just disorder no change meanwhile the overdose rate skyrocketing knowing thing if you look at those numbers and the overdose rate the mixed Chink so that route twenty and and roughly half of the overdose deaths that were related to oak. US opioid related overdose deaths in contain prescription painkillers now roughly thirty percent do but if you adjust because more than two-thirds have multiple other drugs in the system as well like heroin Fantino oh cocaine alcohol tranquilize to take that out you just want to know I'm your windows. That's most recently we have two thousand seventeen. Were just prescription. Painkillers is listed ten percent now seventy five percent of the OPIOID overdose deaths from heroin and Phantom on if you look at the graphs and I published light on this is very is available just go to my bio page. We started early. Part of this century was what's called in the business diverted prescription painkillers prescription painkillers at family away the underground as opposed is to you know patients used by doctors and as they became less available because of the government's interventions the non medical use just moved over to the next thing is much easier and cheaper to get heroin sells for less than the price of an ox of oxycontin killing black market so the government deciding that was eased Dhaka's prescribing opioids that caused the overdose crisis. only did was make sure that the non medical users are using stuck to the more more likely to overdose from and so the driving up the overdose rate at the same time. They're making it so that doctors are literally afraid of you is that every every state including Arizona's put restrictions or not the government now somehow knows just how many days a person needs for a particular painkiller after after having a particular operation. I don't know that and I've been doing this for forty years. 'cause I know every individual's different. Some people are more stoic some people don't tolerate p well but apparently Louis our politicians just how much everybody needs for every single thing so they're putting the dockers getting visits from the DA because because you know you're prescribing rule too many opioids for that you're for a practice of your tight and they're being charged with crimes. They're being a doctor mutual doctor friend that Ha- going into the break real quick but a mutual doctor friend that was geriatrics and he went plastic surgery just because he was so sick of all the regulations and all the visits all the Medicare stuff and all that and he came from Canada to get away from that came here and Whoa a jump from the frying pan into the fire kind of thing so we have a lot of experience in government demands mandates not exemptions. Which one are you the earnest handcock show do do bad do bad two-bedroom growth? You know I tell you what this brings up minds me. In the nineties late nineties Dr Jeff Singer. I worked with sperling which was the owner of the University of Phoenix and a goes zillionaire that wanted to smoke weed that I just pissed him off more Novon. Whatever reason is and we're going to decriminalize marijuana little bit little bit little bit now? Of course we're out there going screaming man. I don't need a little a little bit not just freaking Dandelions then we start finding out they wanna regularly Dan Eli and route guide killing me so I'm going so then during this process Jeff Jeff was heading up or working on the initiative so you gather signatures also do the repeal of Arizona income tax when you try. I too well so you got the signatures it got on the ballot is ready to be voted on and then they went you have too many issues multiple issued and we'd just take it off because we can't so this is so then when a past the semi decriminalization of marijuana back in the nineties immediately when the legislature came in they go we don't like it so the undid it and you go whoa man. That's some big test easier. Well what happened is spurling's got some money so they came out and they said if the people pass something yet to have a super majority in the legislature is what two thirds three quarters. What is it's so you have a super majority in order to undo what the people did so now that you have anybody things anything gets passed by initiative? It's there for freaking ever so that was the other side of that sword you know and they do all kinds of crazy stuff so I'm going okay Dr Singer Tele Tell people real quick and your activism why you did the marijuana thing why you did the income tax thing and what you're experiencing revelations from that was go well. Actually this is a good way to segue into yoga so basically there was an argument taking place among libertarias serious because some carriers were saying Yeah Frank Ernie. I had disagreement summer saying so wait so right now marijuana's illegal you WanNa make the with percents is okay you just basically just transferring ownership of me over from the government to a doctor thank freedom. I understood okay what also understood that being able to use marijuana fumes from medical services those two things number one allows people self medicate which is a good anthony and number two in May actually change the entire for section of marijuana because when more and more everybody's been brainwashed going back to the nineteen forties and fifties at the beginning you know this dangerous. We'd you take you memory for man's take one puff and you can become an insane killer and so a lot of people people had drilled into them when they start to see you know grandma smoking weed for her Glaucoma and she hasn't come a crazed killer and everybody starts to know Oh somebody who's using that than people's perceptions of of the of the drug chains in any committee move towards legalising completely now. We're at a point where what twenty nine states rates have marijuana is legal either for medical recreational use. I think it's nine eleven states have legalized for recreational use. A lot bill was passed in the House yesterday. Allowing I mean in states where it's legal. were the dispensaries can actually engaging banking because that's against federal law so we're on our way towards completely legalizing marijuana in this country now. It's the same thing with the OPIOID as I'm seeing early okay now. We want to get to know cause a good transition here but I I want to make something clear so that you can we have this conversation. During that time I was county Chairman Libertarian Party and we did the general publicity pamphlets that went out on these initiatives and so on we decided even though Jeff Friends we knew each other and have common friends and common interests and all that what we were of the opinion that making it to where it's kind of the government legal Dr Kinda you still not free so our point was not to be in support we go no we are against this initiative mirror. Marijuana initiatives and Libertarians are against it on my way to freedom. We want you know seven year. Old Kids needs to be able to go to the seven eleven and buy laudanum grandma kind of thing so we were going you know Total Freedom Freedom Freedom Freedom Freedom Freedom at the same time it made you guys look moderate moderate. God Man you'll Jefferson is crazy like Ernie. I mean you know we got so it. Kinda like seventy six percent of some ridiculous amount support that the had now of course you're laughing our asses off because we knew that we were making them look moderate. We were trying to emphasize the philosophical argument for we don't need no stinking rules of you know whatever so by doing that. I think that this tandem effort had a beneficial impact. People got the philosophy sophy and they got their drugs okay so in the opioid thing. Is We go to this. You know while you're claiming do charts numbers. This net don't freaking skin care. I'm going this is not a role of government. Tell me what I can or can't it's a war on some drugs kind of thing so I wanna get your opinion. I don't even know if you've ever even talked about it of that role that the hard core activists play and this kind of policy decision they keep this freedom none your business. You shouldn't be regulating to begin again with how that plays into excessive what you guys do. I think it helps a first of all. I think you know Ernie as people who understood economics. No we know that this vantage to the division of Labor and is comparative advantage okay so we're all toiling in same field for the furtherance of Woodward in each of us has our areas where we feel we could you better so in the tank world like the Cato Institute will we will we're trying to do without losing sight of what we stand for and we don't. We're trying to convince the people who right now control the levers of power in Washington. She can ordered state capitals a number one. Why Liberty is the best way a number to come up with? There are a lot of their. We've come across a lot of people in government who say I'm totally with you but if you something to work with the most of the people I'm working with. Don't get it so we come up with ideas is that at least move things that are more freedom orient the direction to me even in the long run help that we liked like with the medical marijuana help recreational marijuana so for example the view and by the way we never never compromise on what we believe it so I was saying and that's just me my many colleagues Alex Decatur who've been in the drug coalition area since the Cato Woken in one thousand nine hundred seventy seven. I remember I I wait the first month I was doing radio. I had nickel espy and Soka M- sold them did say yes. You know the drugs or whatever the book yeah when I when I say reason so I I remember had nick and what was his name Slocum a yesterday's sell them and had that was controversial as hell back then you know the all the people that were functionary heroin addicts addicts or something on Wall Street or whatever the heck they were doing and it has changed the dynamic. The people just understand. Where is the real all harm? What are they looking at? What are you looking that you have to go up against? The people say yeah this would happen and it happens here. There's a bunch of happening you know what is it that you're up against. Well exactly so for example in the opio. Yes you and I saying and we openly say this that overdose crisis is the result of Bishop people are self medicating recreational using drugs and they're always going to that's a that's. That's human nature actually back me men men Elliott Nature we catch like catnip courses like locally whatever and and by hitting it you just making it more dangerous. You're taking away any legal recourse where people can for example settle disputes over distribution territories whatever you creating crime all that so we always make that coit coit and what what I've been saying is that if you if you can't end orange drugs which you should well. Here's the things that you can do that will end all help in a lot of the deaths and destruction that the war on drugs so if you allow for harm harm reduction for example here Arizona four that I know of exchange funded by the nascent and nearby it all over the country they want to be able to end up losing swift the test strips can test potency or something you can test to see if this from the second letter of Captain Mark Any pirate knows that commerce is communication markets condense oceans of information into a single price innovations and communication are circumventing the scrutiny of the crown on this signals a change in the coin of the realm the crown uses digital currency to surveil sensor seize and destroy wealth that will so pirate currency must protect us from this weaponized money we need to move funds farther faster cheaper and without third party observation basing decisions on an accelerating flow of information so uh-huh pirates require nearly instantaneous transactions with no arbitrary limits on volume or artificial influences on fees most importantly a pirate currency not must preclude centralization otherwise it will become another link in our chain to the crown a superior currency will result in the obsolescence of the coin of the realm and the extinction of the crown itself trade above the grid join us at PIRATESWITHOUTBORDERS DOT com. Don't worry about things you can't control. Isn't that what they always say but but it's about impossible to avoid worrying about what's going on these days the government is used the war on guns the war on drugs in the war on terrorism to Tara Bill of rights to shreds but you can't fight back the tenth amendment centers enters proven it racking up major victories for example when the US government claimed authority in the NDA Ada have the military kidnap and detain Americans without trial the nullifies got law passed in in California declaring the state's refusal to ever participate in any such thing their latest project off now dot org nullifying the National Security Agency they've already gotten model legislation and introduced in California Arizona Oklahoma Missouri and Kansas meant to limit the power of the NSA to spy on Americans in those states we'd be fools to wait around for the US Congress courts to roll back big brother our best chances nullification and interposition on the state level go to off now dot org out that model legislation and get to work nullifying the NSA the hero Edward Snowden has risked everything to give us this chance. No no no no no no not yet finger and I hi Dr Jeff Singer he and I we go round round round. Nobody's got their own way of doing stuff and we're going to you know we're GONNA save America but I'll tell you man. I hate dealing with these guys. I hate it. I is there some good legislators out there Jeffrey. I mean we got somebody. You know. This is a good Guy Ernie. You should go talk to him. He's a good guy. I think there are a lot of people who I need their names. If freedom man you tell go but then it's going to blow title I wanNA start mentioning names because I don't want to hear that I'm Thorson anybody because you're right on a little piece of paper and pass it in class asser something man. I'm telling you so you're at ninety legislators. You're going what their there's this one guy. That doesn't suck as much I mean. What kind of numbers are we looking at here but we dealing with the real world? Is there some legislators so you may get to review on some important issues and then they don't agree on some other important issues in you think yourself well. If I could get this person to at least for example somebody might be very very much in sync with you on the drug war issue on criminal justice but when it comes to welfare state a welcome redistribution or a gun rights are not so if you could say well. Maybe I can get this guy to help me get some criminal justice reform and some you know help mitigate mitigate some of the harmful effects of the drug or you move things towards ending the drug war we can work together and then we'll just in a friendly way because you together so now we know each other we'll ways when it comes through and Noah part ways when it comes to the next election because they're going to be taken away something I'm telling you I don't play that game I I I understand I know how a lot of people do this and you know how I operate for past thirty years and we've kind of you know since ten twelve I I helped a lot of people with the second round of the Ron Paul thing but I instead of being on the front lines because it wasn't the same supported everybody else whatever you got yep absolutely man. Whatever you need need help you got to express yourself or whatever but I tell you it was not the same as it wasn't you awake campaign and what I'm looking for is and you know we get to have our say in Arizona? I'm GONNA free and have my say in twenty twenty. I'm telling you Jeffrey. I am so pissed off at these people that take good hearted people that have consolidated around some social media thing on some issue and they go and they talked to legislators may bring him in. They pat him on the back love you long time who look at this legislation I introduced introduced and I got to pass this. One Committee made another but it never got read. It never got voted on nobody ever did anything and you go. Tell everybody how you almost got it. KINDA SOMEWHAT ALL ALL B S. We're not playing that this time. We're going to go old school. WHIP ASS and I'M GONNA. Do you know what you'd be voting for. What happens with the vote where you're just is pulling votes from this guy to go there? You're confused me with someone who gives a crap Irene vote. I know that's not the point so if there's going to be in twenty twenty a philosophical Africa's going whip ass. What should it be is it you know as a medical is it said amendment rights is at I own? My Body is the drug war vaccine stuff as you I mean what is it based. What's the foundation of know everybody else is targeted yea? I mean there's a lot of a lot of reasonable. People can get an argument over could get the disagreement over you know if you can only get rid of one problem the state that he's GonNa get one area of policy reform. What would it be only? I'm constantly torn between I think you know ending orange. Orange drugs might be the most important thing we can do because it gleams into so many I'M A and self ownership himself it all it does not the reason that they do it Jeffrey. They always give you a little okay. We'll let you prescribe fifty percent more. You're always this management thing. It's it's like a NAFTA deal. It's free trade on Stack twelve hundred pages that doesn't I can't put it on a bumper sticker. You're just be. SME The something though is I know what you're saying. The other thing is that I sometimes I'm thinking maybe foreign policies the number one industry that we stop stop the bombing other countries and becoming becoming stopping the world's policeman start the pulling back the empire. That might be the most important thing as I'm con constantly torn. If I G came out of magic lamp and said I can grant you one wish what you want to be. I'm constantly back and forth between and the war on drugs or were in the foreign wars. It's a tough you know this was interesting. I remember Walter Block. It was when obamacare thing was going and where Walter Block on if if you remember this he wrote Good Libertarians always on the Rockwell and so on and I don show minhas books and stuff and he goes like this he says President I will give you you know I will give you a national healthcare if you will stop all the wars I as a libertarian. I'm willing to take this national healthcare but you can't afford it with the Stop. The wars and I'll just sit on my hands here and let you do whatever on the healthcare is at a trade make. I can't say it off. Well thought my head something series seriously consider and no he wanted it out. Consider you saying look man all these other things that we you know how many Libertarians can dance on the head of the Penn thing but if you do away with this war stuff you know we'll take we'll take care of business here. We'll worry about okay. We'll be New Zealand with healthcare or something they always worry about his what they'll do the week temporarily early away with it within the national healthcare and then go back to doing ward now. It's like we're going to have valued at attack so we can eliminate the income tax later and then you wind up a both that kind of thing so that's why I deal in principle it's just general public opinion and this is. I'M GONNA emphasize it in the twenty me twenty and I'm GonNa make a believer out of you. Jaffe Watch okay. I Want House with long. We don't have a lot of time to get into the vaping issue a little. Davidge. You can't accuse Philip Morris of doing this to increase tobacco sales because that would be wrong. I actually I don't think I don't think that that's what's behind probably not but the point is that I just need the freedom and the liability where is it that we can go and actually there's always law enforcement doesn't go after the real perpetrators of force fraud coercion because they're so much part of it. They can't be counted on that. It's like a police prohibition commonplace but how the basically first time I heard about this. My immediate actually was well. That's what happens. We have an underground market from prohibition. You'RE GONNA get people hurting themselves but the politicians said will we. You got to ban all flavored vaping now. It's already legally prohibited the cell vaping to anybody under eighteen so if you went into a store they're gonNA card you. They would for cigarettes so that's bad but because most of the under eighteen liked debate debate like debate with flavored products they're going to ban awfully reports you want all the adults who they also like the beat beat products and that's their principle way of getting off of tobacco so it's actually a proven method of getting offered tobacco. You know it's another thing because you made it illegal. What's going to happen happen? There's going to be a growing black market for this stuff. They're going to make money. You'RE GONNA have more problems. It's just drug war all over again you hear just how taking leave your to talk about a hundred thousand because the people are using on the black market at least they now now can get diverted as they said flavored materials from the legal but since there won't be any flavor was was legal is all the more dangerous so they're actually gonNA drive up to drive up the related you at the same time that the adults now it appears useful tool to help them get off and then they got criminals that don't give a crap what you think they're gonNA make money on. You don't WanNa Piss off that'd be bad idea advocating and protecting parent's rights to direct the the education of their children has been one of her highest priorities throughout her years of service so she gave credibility department education by being the head of it anyway so we'll talk about that now. What I wanted to do is get in? There's a lot of advocacy that she does but this is in preparation for the freedom. I mean the backseat education summit anchor the show you know I I look I go ooh Superintendent Public Instruction. What's my first question? I don't know she's pro you know medical freedom or not or I don't know but I tell you this I am very interested in how big Pharma and a vaccine enforced enforcement by the education system here in Arizona as an arm of big farmers saying you know thanks for all the the captured audience we got okay and I'm GonNa not definitely wanted to hear about that now. The thing is is that the controversy at I went over okay she's elected in fifteen eighteen sixteen election cycle she comes in and it was kind of squeaker in the primary. You know so was it. How close was the primary was not very close? It was the general general you got that that election yeah. It was in the primary next okay so she comes in is like one percent or something. It was pretty close so it was pretty close so then you had opposition side so you know you're going to be target especially when you're talk about education freedom and so on gotTa have mandated so she does that controversy immediately all of a sudden boom they tried to do you were recall. They started recall it and get the signatures but it showed that somebody didn't love you so I'm going okay then you go into the next election cycle. There were five people people running in the primary and one person had like fourteen point something percent but all four others are like twenty twenty one. The winner was twenty one point point eight two or something you're twenty one point five and your third. There's one in between there joe is like even though Republicans did not want they spread it out any way they could would that not Diane. I could see how this works because an incumbent and have five people running in a primary there was a plan. Somebody did not want you. Are there okay so I've done I. It took me five minutes to figure that out okay so we'll talk about that a little bit now she's in advocating for parental rental rights and medical freedom and so on now she got tapped as one to speak. You know I didn't select volunteers. We're working with sad guy Diane on their cope by Super Ten construction guy a lot to tell us about so. That's what we're GONNA get into now. We're not going to be Russia. We're going to mean or through this introduction conversation conversation get to ask all the questions I want because I won't have a chance at the Vaccine Education Summit Kinda the trains run on time rock and roll rock and roll or any don't get that much so we're going to do that. Now we go along we go along and you know podcast of extra. No commercials and we're good shop Diane Douglas. How in the heck did did you because you had a finance background? You're like an accountant divided over the numbers are and reminded me of Catherine Fits in you know Daddy Bush administration. Put her in. I think it was hut or something. She goes in gotTA finance back. Oh ooh guys be ripping off. This is so now she's coming Minnesota. Tell you how screwed we are in the budget and because she had accounting background a lot of these POLITICI- stuff they don't they don't even WanNa know so you come in you. Go who I could see what's Surp- well. That's why they didn't like you so start off Hannah Heck. Did you get started in politics Republican become did you have any other elected office four superintendent construction what happened to you then and then we'll get up into this vaccine education so start from your first memory as a young something go. Oh okay. Thank you for having me very much appreciate it. What opened my yes? You're correct. I'm from a finance background that business and marketing were my field and but I was always in finance when I worked in the corporate world so we come to Arizona and my eyes were opened. Why we we moved to Arizona in one thousand nine hundred ninety from the People's Republic of New Jersey? We moved here to raisin. Educate our daughter and people say how could you move from a state that spends the most on on education will bloom an accountant. I know well not only that but I've always been of the philosophy and and my daughter got a great education in the pure school district because her foundation with before they changed things. I always felt if academically child's what's behind you can get a tutor. You can home school them. There's a lot of things you can do but when they start corrupting your family relationship and the moral values you can't fix sat and that's been going on in New Jersey for a long long long long time now define data. You're saying dare program and turn in Mom and dad I mean you know or is it like we gotta be environmental socialist of you know you get credit for going out in the protesting the whatever you're talking about just social `economic kind of controls the education of your kids minds or the actual relationship between you and your child and some way I mean what are you talking about all of the above indoctrinating them into science. That's not science into not teaching them the skills they need to become academically successful full okay wait wait. I remember now you can Kotok there it was I remember what it was. You were advocating that evolution solution not be the tried and true and all the what they were making it out to be an education or something well but that was as we call it these these days fake news all we did and this is coming up to twenty eighteen and we were starting back in one thousand nine hundred eighty when it came to evolution and all we wrote in the standards was that they should be the term that you you discuss discuss you teach children the pros and cons there are some things about include. Those are intelligent design is their the creation. Is there other whatever off we're just saying question. Evolution on a micro level is evolution. Do we see species change. Yes we can see some evolution there. Can we ever proved that man evolved from apes or slime in a pool. No we can't can't but yet we're telling our children that okay so what was it because I remembered. That was the big bowl get to that later. We'll come in you know because when you said you know when you knew description well we wanna make sure the scientists I remember what it was. It was because any crack I mean just alternative bringing up even something else or not saying it settled addled signing. It's always the science settled times. I heard that and so we've done a lot of shows on this and we're Charles go yet when it's producer for him. He was all about you know intelligent design design and as a as an option of alternative of whatever now it's like just a lot more credibility now but I'm you're on the edge. You're you're leading the pack. You had a self esteem or confidence that you're able to do this and not be afraid of a lot of these people mostly because you want a good education for your daughter you come here. Peoria Arizona is probably a lot more conservative as was places like Gilbert and so on and then they get you on the floor dated water order they turn into zombies agree now. You know you think I'm kidding so this is this is what they had to Gilbert man. We gotta get him on the Mesa water supply which is way way too independent. You can sit there and watch it happen now. They're like Neil drooling and doing whatever they say so. We'll talk more about it. We're going to go through all of there's we'll get back to the beginning. I promise with her. We'll be right back from the sixth letter of Captain Mark. A pirate's life is characterized by voluntary interactions actions. I Know New Jersey Man. Damn you know what scared you. There are used tired of shoveling snow that to to you never have to shovel sunshine but no the taxes were outrageous. We came out here to visit some friends that moved out here that we thought were crazy for moving out to the middle of the desert and took one look around and realize that to stay in New Jersey we would either be a two income household to keep hope with the taxes and the cost of living and our daughter would be raised by daycare and the education system or we could move to Arizona. We could live in a nice neighborhood. I could effectively be a stay at home. Mom who followed my own interest God bless my husband for letting me do that profession was he. Do He's a analyst computer. It's a Geek Yeah. He's a key GIG GIG. He's they embrace it now. Yeah no no no now. Did you get a retirement for being Superintendent Publican they changed the elect elected officials retirement system. It's more of a contributory system now so so so you didn't get any or you do or a little too system so you get a little something. Well not yet no I haven't it's like an IRA or a 401k that okay all right so it's just yeah just in your regular hot so why kind of amazing got every freaking government employee pension union into guaranteed Gimme. I guess you know teachers. Don't get that well these superintendent you know so here you come their zone. You're raising your daughter and you're like ooh Hoo Arizona's the crappy. Were you happy at first everything going well yeah. One of the things that opened my eyes to three things happened and yeah. I'll try to go through them quickly. No big time. We're going to be here all day. He's GonNa interrupt a lot. Ask a Lotta questions. Get over it. Okay Go. We're GONNA take of before my daughter even started school out here. A friend of mine came to me and asked me if I could look into something. Her daughter was in second grade got all as and BS on her report card but the school was recommending she'd be held back in second grade and she said she was a shall. We say timid devoted but timid mom. Tom and she says I don't know how to approach. I don't know how to talk to them. Can you help me sure I'd be glad to cycle the district office and I said I'd like to understand this and and they told me about something. Call you just when you when you hit the table stakes New Jersey no matter what all right so maybe I'll talk with them up here. Instead of banking so anyway I went to the school district and they told me about something called outcome based education where we are going to make every child the same under this program and they'll all have the same outcomes and I was told how wonderful it was and I said this is the stupidest thing I've ever. I life so that kind of raised a little red flag back here then I went when my daughter started kindergarten at that time I am the Peoria School district you spalding phonics to teach reading and the first session I sat through with her learning mm to read with phonics. I went Dang. That's why I struggled with reading all my life because when I was in elementary school we we were taught to memorize sight words look say Dick and Jane we mall at Whole Language. Now it is the reason fifty six percent of our third graders to this day can not read proficiently but Peoria was using a great system. They used Saxon math. She got a great foundational education but that started started me you know why wasn't why were they wanting to put this woman's child back because they said even though she got as and bs he's she was allowed to take a test again and again and again and again until she got an A. or a B. or got through the test but they didn't really feel that she'd mastered the subject material and that's what outcome based education is all about just put the kids through the system until until they can be deemed proficient enough to move along. It's Kinda like social promotion with a fancy name. I got a billion questions all right. When we come back we'll get to it or maybe I'll now? We'll talk during the right now. You guys go 'cause we got a lot to talk about. You guys saying go to the livestream. You don't go livestream. You don't get a lot of the GIG it all summarize it. When we come back? How if you love your kids and grandkids owned by while decide you want to make sure your desire then be educated against what fell into into a ring of you had to government into? I went down down down the flames went higher for Diane Douglas Aetna beginning though you had I would imagine a lot of support yet. The families families and helping people and you've got to see what the heck's going on you came from New Jersey. I'm ran coming from Russia. Only tell you what's going to happen. So you see the same things the same heck. It's the same people that's what happened. We realized in one thousand nine hundred ninety three when he got a first email accounts bunch of US Libertarians. We're going hey. There's other Libertarians on the first second amendment third man what kind of winning the rights bill writes thing you know what are the activities and people and all of a sudden boom we realize something it was the same legislation being introduced in every State County and city say we were under freaking laser beam of Dr Evil here it calms it was a philosophy of we rule you thing and it definitely happened with things like property happened with certainly medical and shirt attack Jack Education because the million money minimum is for the children okay. This became a mantra now. You're right at the beginning of this so you have someone they said in the I don't care what kind of I don't care. I don't care because people will choose what they think didn't their self interest and I want to do the Montessori thing which we tried and I wasn't a big fan of that you know because it wasn't really done the way that should have been. They were just trying to mass produce. Call it Montessori you know so I've gone through charter school. We've done a lot of things we were much happier with a Christian private school now being Christian. You know that you you know it wasn't like I found a lot of stuff offensive but it still was trying to control people in feared you gotta do. The Lord says that we rule you. I mean that kind of thing so for Libertarians it was easier to d program from a lot of that but a lot of the parents there we are kids on the football and the volleyball softball and all that that kind of stuff. We've got four of them there. They're all close in age so they're all at the same school at the same time so the parents and everything they do is running for office this Nadal don't an ob asked me man you know a lot of support the kids a lot of support I go and speak by I'm in ocean of w bumper stickers in the parking lot but you know so the mindset people wanted to good education for their kids regardless of whether they are Christian or not so the thing that I'm looking at when you started this and early nineties your first exposure was a friend that didn't have the personality traits to advocate for. Would you help you came across what and you started to formulate an opinion of what you're going to be up against. What were you advocating continuous story? Okay so there were three major pieces of it. I told you about the outcome based education explanation my understanding then of reading and I began studying that through my my daughter what I called my epiphany moment came when my daughter was in second grade and I went to a PTA meeting because I volunteered at the schools that was back in the day when you could and could be reactive in the schools and I was always there and the district was going out for. I think their first override in forever so it generated a big crowd so they do their thing raw raw when it's over the principal of our school gave his report and he said something about in his report about in fifth through eighth grade. This is a K. eight school in Peoria district some seventy seventy five eighty percent. I can't remember the exact number of the kids earned a certificate of Merit or higher for that period now. I have a second grader for doing what wait a minute. Let me let me finish this so I just like you. I turn to the parent next. What's a certificate of Merit? What does that mean? They said that means the kids. Don't have a B. Average or higher they have all B.'s or higher on their report card and the finance part of me said seventy five to eighty percent of all the kids in a mixed population Shen have all bs are in the top twenty top eighty percent or higher at the thought that went through my head is holy cow. They're cooking the books and from that day forward that night forward. I never cared about the grades. My daughter brought home on her report card. I cared about what she could prove move to me that she had learned in school and I was the parent who got every curriculum every lesson not less than plans but syllabus. What are you teaching in my kid? When are you teaching it to them? I just told her that story and she said mom. Why didn't you tell me that when I was younger that you didn't care about the grades on my report card for reasons but that from that night on I wanted to learn everything I could about the American education system system and not from a college of education because I didn't want to be all US turn brainwashed? I wanted to learn the truth so I spent the next twenty five years ears digging into everything I could learn about education you know does this sound familiar Donna okay we got time. Everybody get over when our children started elementary school. It was in sunny slope so you had you know. The Poor district tricked their you had fourteen languages on the bathroom for Vietnamese Chinese Nitin whatever it was amazing. I'm like what the heck is going. We're experimenting on my kids that was damn for sure and they like having a bunch of kids. You know they ooh Hancock kids man. We will cut Chang. We got four orchid. We'll make some money so it was when my oldest son he has a sister one year older two boys and a girl so now they are like when my daughter was a senior in high school. I think my Sierra my youngest was seventh or eighth grade so they're all in the same school when they're in the public elementary school here my son emphasize education and you're like you like you make sure and you do your homework mccagnon whatever rock and roll all well. They came at the same time as when the Symington Committee on education these guys were coming to me and say look they're doing this or doing that. They really aren't doing this and you know the overcharge funder stealing from that they're all this stuff is going on at the time so my son had some homework that we worked on a a lot and we get all kinds he forgot it. You know it was like you know I don't know whatever day it was and I think it was a Wednesday or Tuesday night and Wednesday he goes does he doesn't have it and I WANNA make a big deal out of it. He gets home at three. Oh my God I got your homework right here. Run the school right now and we can see partial credit to catch a teacher to parking lot. ooh I got retarded Homework Okay and he goes dad man. Chill your second grade seven years ago. It's okay I made my day major day. What the Hell is make your day these a plus school thing you remember that show? I'm going like make your day. What the hell are you talking about because I don't have to turn them good? I mean my day how you make it your day and you're not do your homework so we called. The school and the teacher happened to be in the office. I go you know she available number. She's right here okay. She gets on and she all all we love for us. Forces the best potted plant in the corner we ever had he doesn't bother violate anybody self esteem. He doesn't disrupt a perfect little plant that we have into corn out. Diana told her the whole thing but you can't get the gist awesome. You guys have heard this story. This is what happened. They had a thing that they called A. Plus rated schools were in a school. Do you remember that back in the ninth still do it yeah yeah yea okay so this is what happened. My son comes home his seventh grade second grade seven year old seven second grade it comes in and the homework that worked on the night before he didn't take them and turn it in well. We got turned into homer guy with homework all my guy do the homework made big deal the homer Shag. Oh Hey we got a call. The school teacher still dare come. Don't give nobody goes dad chill. I made my day major day. What the Hell's make your day? That's what this eight plus thing was about. You made your day ninety. percent of our students made their day okay. was that make their bed or Siah. What are you talking about? So I called up. Mike Mr GonNa take care of business. I call call the office and headed teach within twenty minutes. After school is pretty so I called her. She happened to be in the office. She gets all yesterday Hancock. We love your son Your Son Best. He's best potted plant we ever had my son. Yohe us a good kid. He just sat there be quiet and he wouldn't you know disruptive as a kid. You got going on smart guy. He would sit back in the corner. Not Bothering anybody daydream heck. He was doing our favorite kind. A kid and I'm going wow well what's this. He made his day thing. You didn't turn in his homework. They go well yeah. This is how the system kind of worked you started off with fifty points. If you went below forty point. She didn't make your day this our member now. If you violated someone's self esteem or was a bully you're didn't you know or you know Baid Evil Hairy eyeball at the teacher or something like that boom you you didn't make your day. It was all a control thing. There's a social thing not an academic academic thing so when you didn't turn in your homework lost like three points if you didn't do it in a second day in a row then you wouldn't make your day so my seven year old second grader looked at me and he goes dad. I only have to do homework on Tuesdays and Thursdays dummy and I'm like this is what they're teaching you. We are done because we had already had changed. I went and go sit in on classes classes and this one teacher. She just couldn't get my daughter out of this. Put her another class. This is not I mean there's already you know three four kids standing in the corner before it even started the class kind of thing I mean it's like what the heck is so no no no we went and looked at the law and the law said in Arizona. You can home school. Oh you know thank the Mormons for this probably so I go you know you can home school but you have to inform the Board of Education schools or somebody you know no of your home schooling. You're good. You got inform them. Okay I go back. The next May in April is that they are not go out. They watch sesame street. It cannot be this bad you know seriously so we and then we did charter and we didn't find went private school in seventh grade so that first first year to rehome school which dotted didn't dig it. If I was Guy Home Ooh man. This is GonNa be good but some people aren't you know kind of disposition Asian for that. So what we did is the first school in the following year I go in and I said that those little while you're out pink slips okay a little message slips I can I borrow that had their net pen. Oh yeah here Mustang go to whom it may concern the handcart. Children are no longer be attending government school ernest handcock. Put it down on the desk and I walked walked out and I never looked back now before they tried to do this. PTA thing Oh yeah we need you into PT. I've got the principal because I was doing my lawsuits against education overcharged fund at the time you'll be political county chairman Ileka stuff so to appease me. Oh Yeah we need you to be had God. PTA or they call it. The P Teo L. was so they go I go into the first meeting and what it was said that this parent group could report port directly to the District School Board or whatever now that was doing it. Oh Yeah you guys got power Ukraine. Really I go well man. I got a list for them. The people came up with some stop within a week. They changed the policy that it had to go through the principal. We're done okay so so this is so. I don't think I know all right. Oh I went through this. How parallel was your experience? Well well like I said we moved here from New Jersey and first daughter only daughter and this was all new to me. I was didn't have the guts that you did to homeschool. I thought about it and I- agonized about it in the early ninety s we didn't have the homeschooling networks that we do now very strong networks to help support parents. I just knew it could be as bad. I felt that I was sending reminders but I'll tell you a story about the the a plus school our school that my daughter was in they decided to go to that and said a committee a two to apply for the school recognition so they invited me to be on an great. I'd love to be on it the very first meeting. I said you know I'm excited about this doing this but I don't want it to. Just be a laundry. List of we do this we do that. This is our program. That's our program. I said I would like us to use this. Take a really hard look at our school and see what we do well but what we can improve on you think I was invited back to the second no improvement there. Just you know authorization certification endorsement of whatever the hell they sent us right so I was not part of the the eight plus community that whole A. Plus they put banners up. It was the stupidest most disingenuous rip off I just I got to get my kids away from this. I didn't care watch sesame street. I don't care get out of this best thing we ever did like so many things in education. They may be well intended but I think we all know where where good intentions take us you know. Do you really think it may be a good excuse justification but not really so much okay that they really wanted to educate the kid. That's not what they're doing well. What are they doing your superintendent public construction? You know we're GONNA go in the after show without commercial interruption. I'm going to lead men you go. You guys need to go to the slide string dreams Phoenix dot com you go to the top right and be declare your independence there and you'll see all the streaming everywhere and everything and it's on the front left of the premiums Phoenix Streamer there too if you've got the right dooby gooby update. It depends what you're looking at and this is what I learned loudly and clearly when when I was a superintendent I expected to take a lot of flack from the the left the Progressive Democrats call it what you will I I expected to be supported by the right the Republicans the Conservatives and I found I was beat up just as much from them so if you're looking at the the progressive side of it going all the way back to John Dewey and even before Him who is still the God on the altar that our teacher training classes and colleges of education all Bow Oh John Dewey John Dewey John he said very loudly and clearly the goal is to take academic mkx aquisition out of school and make them agents of social change one hundred years ago Dewey Dewey decimal system doing that's different sprint Duke is talking about John Dewey and he is the gentlemen if you will I mean he lived one hundred years ago and he basically created our teacher training system with the intent of changing our nation to social social structure of whatever the hell they decided from on top and high of absolutely correct. I am so deal not surprised people don't realize how deep the roots of change go back. They think it just started ten years ago. This is a Bellamy you know with the the pledge to the flag thing you know this is like the old the flag of we kind of social change put in all the schools Nell do see there's another thing it'd be in a conservative kind of Ri- God fearing kind of well in the fifties a ad under God that thing now we got the other Christians on our side. Gosh darn it. We got all the kids salute the flag back you know are you. Flags looted saw some more to talk about libertarian. It's all the same thing they're just indoctrinating Dr Data. Welcome back to another dish felony Friday a weekly show right here on the Alliance of Liberty podcast and guys. I got a great show off for you this week. Had the opportunity to travel to New Jersey was invited out there by Mike Rufo of the new New Jersey Libertarian Party in partnership with the local young Americans for Liberty Chapter. They're putting on a great event. A Criminal Justice Justice Forum it was Mike and Myself and Larry Sharpe and Majd Toray as well as the Reverend Charles Boyer they fantastic group in diverse group to obviously libertarians of off Charles as a progressive who was accomplishing great things in the state of New Jersey having to do with reform around cash bail and solitary confinement so great conversation we had an awesome turn out and it's been a whirlwind week. I did the best I could edit in this on short short notice. It's very long more than two hours so I don't WanNa talk much more. I just want to once again. Plug Mike Rufo for putting this together go ahead and like his page on facebook. It's Michael Rufo uh-huh Libertarian. You can find it at facebook dot com slash Rufo. That's are you F- The number four Congress. He ran ran for Congress the last cycle great guy big thanks to him for bringing me out and bringing this whole thing together would not have happened without his help so so with that being said guys I bring you the New Jersey Young Americans for Liberty Criminal Justice Forum in in which took place in freehold New Jersey all right well. I want to thank everybody for coming out today. Especially want to thank the speakers getting you guys. Together wasn't easy but the fact that we got done was was phenomenal and the fact that you're here means everything. My name is Michael Rufo so for those of you that don't know me I ran for Congress last year. In Central Jersey in district four ran against Chris Smith and Josh Weli and three other independent candidates came in third so it'd be all the independence and my claim to fame is I got the Democrats who admit that he believes in state's rights on stage at the League League of women voters debate so that was fun so for me that was a little bit of a mini victory and I had a bunch of people come up to me afterwards and ask you know I never really knew what libertarianism is so. I'm GonNa go home tonight and I'm going to research it so for me that was that was important part of what we're doing here today the only thing we're doing here today is as the criminal justice reform so that was brought us all together. That's what made me reach out to these people in these people specifically for specific reasons and I'm going to let them tell you about that. introduce them in a minute but it's watching criminal. Justice reform is important to me so I've actually had uncle who I didn't really know and he was in jail pretty much his whole adult life and my entire life from day one and I was drug related three strike rule in the nineties all that stuff and down in Florida and it just you know he never really got the help you need to take it back on track and everything about the criminal justice system is supposed to be Rehab Right. There's supposed to be rehabilitation tation and we're supposed to reintroduce people in into the society and it didn't happen and he never got that shake a lot of personal story. I won't tell about when he did get out eventually eventually but I won't tell that but it just handed up back in jail and he ended up passing while in jail and we didn't know for months. Nobody knew for months so oh no names. None of that's important what's important is that's one of the reasons why treating everybody has an individual and stopped looking at everything as a collective 'cause is really important to me because every person has their own reason for doing what they do. Every person has their own reason for being who they are and it's important that we stopped painting people with broad strokes of a brush and we focus on the individual and how we can help the individual and we need to look at that from a governance standpoint. We need to look at that from our household standpoint. We need to look at it from every aspect of life being libertarian to me as being an individualist and being an individualist to me is the truest form of love. You can have for all of your neighbors so I'm going to introduce to you. We have John Odor Matt. John is the host of Felony Fridays on the Lions of Liberty Network. You can find that on all your podcast catchers John's had one hundred ninety four interviews perfect good memory right so one hundred and ninety four interviews with people who have suffered injustices in the criminal justice system awesome okay it's important because he helps get the word out for people to hear their stories so they understand that there is an issue that needs to be addressed wealth of knowledge from those interviews. We're going to hear from him. I'm today. We've got Larry. Sharpe Larry Sharpe everybody the Libertarian Party candidate for the governor for the governorship in New York doc last year right phenomenal job. He did a phenomenal job spreading the message spreading the word getting the votes was actually able to secure the Libertarian party ballot it access throughout all of New York which has been such a hurdle for everybody we now have ballot access in forty eight of the fifty states and it's not too difficult to get it in the other two states so so huge leader in the party huge leader in a movement has plenty to say about criminal justice reform. We've got Reverend Charles Boyer lawyer now Reverend in I only met today. However is very good friends with a friend of mine? Who is the Central Party? The Central Jersey Chair of the Libertarian Party Reverend Boyer. He was a key figure in getting the cashless bail laws passed in New Jersey which is phenomenal because not everybody's got the money and there needs to be a way to make make sure that you know not everybody's a risk for flight either so you know let's think about that. you've got the marijuana reform that we were working on New Jersey for legalization Shen was also a key figure in working on that as well as the independent prosecutor and the ending solitary confinement is something you're currently working on correct signed into law not too long fantastic thank you that's awesome. Whatever question maybe we'll all feel those accordingly all right? Thank very much guys John. Why don't we start with you and just work our way down guys all right thank you? Thanks Stewart Michael for putting this together tonight. It came in all the way from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania to be here with you tonight so this is a topic that I'm really passionate about and I mean you can probably see that by recording one hundred ninety four podcast episodes a lot of work goes into that and just say yeah. I mean I could tell long story. I could talk for half hour about why I'm so passionate Schnitt but I'll try to try to be brief hearing condensed to be respectful for the other participants time up here tonight because look competing with for time I mean these these guys are some heavy hitters and so felony Friday. I started almost four years ago and really really it goes back to the change that happened in my mind with criminal justice reform started way back in two thousand seven two thousand eight. I was is working out in California. The an area called the inland empire which it's a very industrial area. It's about an hour east of La a lot of blue collar workers things like that. I was working in steel framing manufacturing as a management trainee and I was young I out of college so as soon as I got out that the first first thing they had me do was help with hiring new new production workers to work on the production floor and you know coming out of college I thought I I didn't ask a Lotta questions or what I should be asking if there is a process to follow the Gimme a few qualifications but they basically just dumped a bunch of job applications resumes on my desk said sort through these and bring the best ones forward to me. It's my plant manager told me so I thought I was doing the right thing. I started folding opening and looking through roof. These applications and I saw probably three out of every five had the felon box checked and had a description. They're saying you know exactly what Crime Ryan was and back then I thought I was doing the right thing. I removed all of those from the job pool and just the ones that didn't have the box checked thinking. I was doing the right thing. I took them forward to my plant manager and my plant manager looks for like five seconds goes goes through three or four of them and where are the ones with the people the criminal background those guys are some of our best workers you know they're out there in the forties point about on the floor who who have a criminal background. I didn't even uneven think of that. That's how uninformed I was so so to come all the way from that and that was a huge wake up. Call for me I was I was lucky enough to I was on a rotation so I worked at several different areas in the plant and I was lucky enough to work as a supervisor on the floor and get to know a lot of these guys and work with them and it was such a wakeup call coming from my background where I grew up outside of Pittsburgh which was basically like a bubble insulated from the real world to commander stand that people who have either made mistakes or just got caught up in something at the wrong time they are no different people who've spent time in prison who have been through through the horrible conditions at present suffered horrible injustices they have the same hopes and dreams for their families and for their future so I could go on and and talk about more but that was really the catalyst that ignited my passion for criminal justice reform and from there it's it's the rest is history starting failing Friday so I'll pass on to to Larry next and what makes me passionate about this is without question the war warn drugs the war on drugs the number one issue for me when it comes to criminal justice reform because that in my eyes is really the catalyst that made things horrible and I think that's the opioid crisis you see it with the presidential complex you see it when it comes to civil asset forfeiture Anna Anna Personal Note.
