Six, thirty seven. Seven hundred WWL W. we have a developing situation whether wise. We need to check on that quickly. National Weather Service issuing a flash flood warning for northwestern Clermont County that is until nine thirty tonight. That's part of that severe thunderstorm that has been moving through that still in effect until six forty five, and just reminder to a flash flood warning in effect for southeastern Hamilton County until nine fifteen. We'll keep you updated on severe weather here on newsradio seven hundred wwl w all right thanks Sean. Sean. Let's get to at six thirty eight seven hundred wliw. Let's talk baseball. It's nice to see a schedule in front of us, and it has been released in the last few minutes. It is day four of summer camp for the reds both great American ballpark and PRISCO, which is a beautiful facility, a former reds baseball. Let's welcome in manager David Bell David Lance McAlister. How are you? Doing I'm well I'm not. Great to hear your voice and kind of exciting to see a schedule. We can look at. Makes it a little bit more real, doesn't it? Them I'm sitting here checking it out right now. just a little over two weeks until. Opening night in Cincinnati and That makes it seem more real you know. We knew basically went opening day. It was going to be but not see him schedule. you know it's just? It's fun you know it's going to be. It's going to be performing, so it's gone smooth here the first few days and it's going to have to happen quick, but we're. Or each day we're getting closer and closer to being ready. Let me, springboard off of that because you guys have put so much time planning preparation into this with a lot of unknowns four days into you like how things are playing out. We, do we're. Really thrilled and you know you can do all the preparation and planning and talking and communicating but until. You. Get here and and start. What is? Just a completely different. Environment! You're not sure how it's going to turn out, but we're. Thrilled, and the key to so far has been the attitude of the players you know players are. motivated I don't want to get ready for the season, but they're motivated to stay healthy. because they want to be able to play. They want to be able to compete they want. To be able to do that together as a team and she how good we can be We were so excited months from training ended and. Just to pick back up where we left often and see this all happen that that's. You know that kind of motivation to go through. You know if you. If you! Don't have the right attitude towards some of the new protocols that were. Asked to do need to do right now. To stay healthy they could create a bad environment and could lead to. getting sick and you know our team priorities to stay healthy our number one. Priority for. All of our wellbeing and The wellbeing of family members of our players and coaches and staff ten in the great thing is, that will also lead into other going. To be able to play and to land. I've been struck over the last three months in talking with a couple of players, Josh Van Meter told me his dad at his lunch hour was doing flips within. His girlfriend was dropping pitches into the adding machine to keep him ready Nate Jones told me he build a pitching mound with his dad was throwing out of his barn. It seems as a whole. You guys really put in the work when they were away from this. there's no question and you know we. We can accomplish a lot in three weeks, but you know. Guys that came in ready to this can't. you know we're going to have an advantage and our guys All of them did the work They stayed ready and it shows I mean we have. Some guys that showed up in can't and and. Really the best shape of their life and they they really took. took the time not only to get in great shape, but. Probably just like other people in the situation. You know kind of the way you approached? this time and if you could somehow turn it into an opportunity. I mean it'd be that much further that in our our players did not only get in great shape, but they you know that caught up on some health and left and really came in ready to go and excited to be back on the field, and and they're in twos to be back. Boy, it seems like a guy who caught up on things got healthy, and even streamlined his body and his in tremendous shape, but somebody like Nixon Zell. Can sure did yeah he? You know he was in. A. Great Athlete in what I consider to be good shape in spring training. He was strong. and you know I just I didn't think much of it When I saw him the other day for the first time. I was I was really surprised and then talking to him. she? Thrilled with where his body. He was able to get his body the big thing for him as going through. Rehab and onto the shoulder surgery and all you can't. You can't do the same kind of workout, so you would typically do so. it was able to get back to that over the last few months and years just in phenomenal shape. really lean, but strong started. Any wasn't spring training. It's just gonNA play into his athleticism and it will serving while. Playing field and Gamla able to can move You Know He. He can already fly. Doesn't even better now. Obviously, all thirty teams around baseball, trying to figure out how they're going to piece together recording, who and who to use to get twenty-seven game for sixty games, but I would think with the depth and the flexibility and the options you guys have that must excite you and Derek and everybody. You know we. We. We consider our offense distractive. Our team to I think we underperformed, but I think everyone saw our pitching staff last year Everyone was able to see what they were capable of. You know I love our bullpen I think you could tour starters and say maybe. The. Strength of our team if if you had to pick one not only. You know the five. that. That's thought, which is a real dog Sherie so going into the season Were set up nice because our. Again our starting pitchers made the most of the time off, and they're going to be felt up because throwing program that they were by the time we get going. You know they're gonNA. Really be midseason. There's not going to be a name on the patient on the amount of innings, but they've pets now. Strategically in the way we manage that throughout a game that'd be able to more urgency. In hundred sixty two dame season to live, there may be times. We go to the bullpen early early, but we also have to remember that are starters can really pitch and. they're trying to. It seems. Shogo was signed like two years ago. It's been that long I was struck by something. You said earlier this week on your zoom call kind of the intangibles. You notice that shogo brings. This team explained to reds. Fans the things you notice about him. Yeah I it's a professionalism that you know an art. Professionals for sure but. There's just something different about. The way he approaches. His Way, he prepares and practices. It's almost like an artery craft He's very diligent in the way he does everything You know he he I don't think he took a day off for the last three or four months of you as ready as any of our players. He stayed out in. Angeles and train with other. Players out there and just kept going the whole time so but just you know it just it explains why he. Consistently year in and year out. was able to put up a really impressive offensive numbers in Japan. And You know we've talked a lot about what his name. defensively and offensively dodger to get on base. It's it's really a factor in Nice for our car lineup in our offense. Initiative the DA troll It's going to be damaged or to to get him in the lineup, but also. Some of our other outfitters. Which you know we think again is another. Strength of our team, the depth in our outfield, and and about it'll make it easier to get those guys in there, David. You've had day afternoon workouts to this point. Do you plan any evening workouts before the season starts? Yeah we're. Were quickly transitioning to more of a night schedule Tomorrow we're? Going to get out there about an hour later and a couple of days after that in pushback another hour so by the time we get on the field by the end of this week, it'll be closer to. Two or three and then once the game start day once we. Start. Part of our our day. That looks more like a game or exact pitchers, actually getting endings and taking hitters and the live peas turning into more scrimmages. Those will be closer. To evening, you know maybe. Five or six o'clock at my an any Benchley we'll get to wherever. You know or playing each evening. Sometime between six and seven bucks for first pitch. All right last question. You know I have to ask you since the schedules out. Can I be the first one to officially ask you. Are you prepared to announce your day starter? We are. GonNa Happen. It's GonNa Happen very soon now that we have the schedule. we've. Working through this, because there's no time we have to get our starters on the proper day. So We have to check three more boxes, but I wish I could say show tonight it'll be. It'll be this week. I'm saying so. We'll have. Hey I really appreciate your time tonight. I know you've done your media obligation on zoom today, and you get a lot on your plate. A lot of things a lot of balls in the air I appreciate your grabbing the phone for a few minutes tonight. Thank you laps Neverland drought safe out there. It's the wind and the rain was driving driving home and. It's pretty treacherous so. Sounds good. Thanks David Take Care. Thank you there you go. David Bill reds manager checking in tonight. The schedule is out. There's a couple of things that pop to me as I. Look at it, and to try to jot down things like off days and start times in home versus road matchups and weekends start times and some other things along the way I'm jotting those down. Let's do this. Let's take a timeout and comeback. Squeeze in what we can, and we'll start getting into some reds conversation. Open up the lines as well.
