The Kavanaugh-Ford Hearing Has the Highest Possible Stakes

Support for the point comes from our friends at rocket mortgage by Quicken Loans. Let's talk about buying a home for a minute because of rising interest rates. There's a lot of unpredictability when it comes to buying a home these days, it's causing a lot of anxiety with folks. Well, our friends at Quicken Loans are doing something about that. They're calling it, the power buying process. Here's how it works. Quicken Loans will verify your income assets and credit in less than twenty four hours to give you a verified approval. This gives you the strength of a cash buyer. Then once you're verified, you qualify for their all new exclusive rate shield approval. I, they'll lock your rate for up to ninety days while you shop. Now, here's the best part. If rates go up your rate stays the same. But if rates go down your rate also drops either way you win. It's the kind of thinking you'd expect from America's largest mortgage lender to get started, go to rocket mortgage dot com. Slash the point Rachel to prove only valid, uncertain thirty year purchase transactions, additional conditions or exclusions may apply. Why? Based on Quicken Loans, data in comparison to public data records equal housing lender licensed in all fifty states and MLS consumer access dot org. Number thirty, thirty podcasts. People would up. It is left co and SIMS, and you know our NFL podcast. Simpson left go, but now there's a show you gotta look at us to. Yes, it is going to be on the Biard app every Wednesday at eight. It's going to be fun. It's going to be crazy. Welcome to the point, four Tuesday, September the eighteenth. I'm Chris cillizza cutting through the political spin. Bringing you the news, you need to know, we now appear to be six days away from a public hearing of the Senate Judiciary committee in which Christine Blasi Ford, a professor in California and Brett cavenaugh Donald Trump's nominee to be the next supreme court. Justice will be testifying in front of that committee about allegations made by Ford, that in the early nineteen ninety s when they brought teenagers cavenaugh sexually assaulted her, we still haven't heard from Blasi attorney about the invitation offered by the Senate Judiciary committee to come and appear. Although earlier this week, her attorney, Debra Katz did say her client was willing to testify publicly. So I'm going to assume that is going to happen. This will be without question hugely. Watched and fraught hearing for literally everyone involved. Kavanagh's fate hangs in the balance here. This was a nomination that was on a glide path. There is no question that cavenaugh prior to this coming out in the last ninety, six hours was going to be confirmed in relatively short order as the next prime court Justice replacing Anthony Kennedy. Now, that prospect is very much up in the air very much up in the air. And the reason for that is that we are in a moment in which allegations like this, and we should have always been in this moment, but we're in a moment now in which I'll Gatien's like this need to be taken seriously. We need to hear from Ford. We need to hear from Cavanaugh. Ideally, we would hear from anyone who has any connection to this so that we could get the fullest picture possible. Remember Cavanaugh is being nominated for a lifetime appointment to the supreme court life. That means forever. Judgment matters in his judgment matters, and that's not to say he exercised bad judgment. We don't know. I have an allegation here. We may not know the truth, but hearings will help us get these closer to it or some semblance of it. Hopefully next six days will be consumed by the run up to this and the six days after the hearing will be consumed by Allison of how it went for each side. That's the news you need to know for September eighteenth four, much more. Please subscribe to my daily Email newsletter. If you go to CNN dot com.
