Four five zero three seven three three with you tonight tonight. It's Aria and the Reverend Captain Kick Ass and Libertarians disagree. A lot on whether or not voting is acceptable. They do and it also varies depending on the type and style of voting. And by that I mean are you voting for say a president versus you know your local mayor. You know that kind of thing right because I vote in local elections but when it comes to presidential votes it's a throwaway right. Like voted for John. McAfee in two thousand sixteen in the state of Mississippi by the way has a right in right and they they throw all right inputs into the trash so I knew when I went that it was completely pointless. I don't even know why did it in hindsight do they literally like you know the paper and throw it into again. I mean they don't count them. They just delete them. Then why even why. Why did I bother to? I mean like as an organization even like a have a thing why waste there's got to be any paperwork or posted. Did you mail it in. Did you go up. Mississippi is really screwed up in how it handles voting. There are only the electronic machines so at the very easy to rig easy to manipulate machines. There's no paper record of your vote whatsoever so for all you know you write in John McAfee and it puts you down for Donald Trump or whoever mickey mouse right yeah. There's no way of knowing because there's no way of auditing it. It's completely screwed up and I was not a fan of it. I like like the paper. Ballots here in New Hampshire so much better but even then I don't intend to vote for anyone for president in two thousand twenty because that legitimizes the system Sunday I want to dissolve. Its is really ironic for me ironic. I don't know if that's the right word. But prior to sort of coming coming out of the fog of state isn't as I like to call it about a ten or eleven years ago or so I didn't vote for president and in fact I didn't really vote for even local politicians mayors in that kind of a thing sheriff etcetera and so not it was just because politics. Ticks disgusts me. Whenever I see politicians they get this sense if you will that? They're used car salesman. Yeah I don't know if you've ever been to a used car. Sales Latman admit a shady. Used car. Salesman atypical you know. You know the stereotype. When I was eighteen I bought a used Camaro from one of these? Yeah so you get one of these sleazy people. So That's how I've just always felt about politicians in general you can just smell the lies. Ezra you can smell the. I'm in it for me. You can smell the you know whatever you WANNA call it It just you know it feels wrong and so when I did come out of the fog of state ISM I realized that even democracy is forcing your preference on other people right fifty fifty one percents telling you. They're forty nine what they can and can't do. And so if we say things like you know it's never never okay to force your preference upon another individual. Well voting is a mechanism that does just that and so if you subscribe to the non aggression principle it makes sense for me. I have the logic that says okay. I'm not going to aggress on other people and therefore I'm not going to vote because because it forces my preference upon other people or at least attempts to right if I vote a certain way Oh this person is going to make these other people have to do this thing. Well then I'm I'm guilty of aggressing upon those people. So that's how I see it. I would agree and this is why I prefer the concept of voting with the with the dollar or voting with the wallet however when we switched to characterize it except that can also become aggression in itself if you have enough money and other people don't have enough right if you control fifty fifty one percent of the money supply which extremely unlikely without a state making that true in the first place but you could through economic means alone coerce and manipulate people and essentially aggressive because coercion is aggression. especially if it's you know government money rise opposed to any other kind of currency might decide to use right and that's a problem. I think that a lot of our CO capitalists don't want to deal with is the reality not that money can indeed be used as a tool of aggression again a particularly government money right. Because I mean it's harder with like bitcoin fine but even so if Satoshi Nakamoto had wanted to he could have given himself fifty one percent of all bitcoin right but what but what I like about the Cryptos of course is that there is choice. There's thousands of crypto stance. He's now so you know. If one gets manipulated in such a way that it becomes coercive coercive or some wail gets a hold of you know the majority of one type of crypto currency. Everybody can just go to another one. You can't do that with state sponsored currency's right right the other thing about state-sponsored currencies. None of them are backed by anything right. I think. Probably the the geographic area known as the United States of America had past tense had one of the best ideas and that was the gold backed currency. All right. You're here we'll give you a piece of paper but if you bring this piece of paper to a bank we'll give you that amount of gold. Yeah it was basically an Iou for a set quantity the of gold. which is the way that banks are supposed to operate? You know because you can't carry around. Were long past that. I mean not in our lifetimes. We've never seen that. We might see something thing like a a currency collector here. Look it's an actual silver note right the silver certificates. There's also the Utah Outback's that you can buy now now right and I have a couple of those and they are really cool yes they are but accepts them. I have yet to try to go into a store store and spend them. But that's because the face value of the currency is significantly out of proportion to its dollar value right right the smallest one one is the the one one thousandth. And it's worth three bucks right now or something like something like fifteen twenty. Yeah Yeah. And it'll fluctuate with the price of gold. Of course you know in the St but my point about the state sponsored currencies is that the only thing it's backed by is the full force and violence. It's of the military. Yes that's that's how it gets. Its value people are like well. Don't let crypto currency because it's not backed by anything thing. Well do you want your current said. It'd be backed by violence murder right because that's the currency you're currently using. I was out at the bar one night with some friends and we were discussing. Bitcoin mean because anytime I'm around the conversation BEC- usually happens at some point in some manner and she says that she doesn't believe in Bitcoin. I Yeah I don't know what you mean. bitcoins like Santa Claus or something like the bitcoin just paid for everybody streaks. But let's go with. What do you mean? And she's like. Well let's not backed by anything. I was like well. Neither is the US de and you could almost see her inability to reconcile that reality. Yeah Ed because of the status stronghold in her mind saying no. I believe my government backs my money so I'm just going to believe that well as happens to many people who try to talk about subjects. They simply regurgitate whatever it is. They've been fed. This happens on a weekly basis with sports ball so and I do pay attention to some sports ball I have a favorite team etcetera and so on but when I get into discussions discussions with other sports ball people because I read a bunch right. I hear them saying exactly what all of the writers around Sports Ball all in the reporters around sports ball have set. And all they're doing is regurgitating those facts and figure or those opinions more importantly right because that's what they've been fed and it changes exactly when the reporters change their narrative right. And so it's it's amazing you can see and here the brainwash and the same thing goes for voting right particularly with the presidential election and in an election year. Right you so you can week by week. Day by day have political conversations with folks who are Republicans Democrats undecided. Or whatever it is. They're paying attention. Listen to the circus. That is the presidential campaigns and they do the same thing they regurgitate. Whatever the reporters have fed that right they watch watch the news at night? They read the paper in the morning or their favorite blog website. You know whatever it is and they just regurgitate. Whatever was fed to them the day before the week before? Well that's how the Russia story. The collusion story got so popular in the first place. Is People just regurgitating. That amazes me is that there are young Democrats out the WHO honestly believe that President Sanders would cancel all college student debt. Do you believe that let us know. I WANNA know why you're so insane. Eight five five four four five zero three seven three three. Have you ever wanted to work when you want it to work instead of having to report to an office. Five four five zero three seven three three with us tonight as Aria and the captain and I wanNa tell you about the edge. Wallet is Mobile Wallet that I use in fact I have. I've been using coin Nami to make payments in my day to day life here at places that accept crypto currency but lately I've removed coin me from the rotation and just use the edge while because I got kind kind of sick of having to enormous password to send money with me and with the while it's just a quick swipe to the left and you're done wonderful is available for both IOS and Android. It allows you to buy sell trade and securely hold cryptocurrencies user controlled. You always have your money you know. It's not like one of those joint base wallets or something like that. It's always your money fully so if you are ridiculous and you throw away your password or whatever are you lost your own money but yeah. It's still your money to lose so it supports bitcoin. bitcoin cash cerium tokens Minero ripple stellar and many more got a veteran team. That's been working on since two thousand fourteen so go check it out again. That's edge DOT APP or look it up on Google play or apple stores. I'm not gonNA waste our listeners. Time bashing cling bases wallet but it does suck. It's a horrible wallet. I've I've attempted to to pay for something locally with it and it just wasn't happening and I had to send myself Bitcoin from my coin base APP to my edge wallet before before I could make my purchase. I haven't used joint base. Essentially since I got to New Hampshire horrible up. There are better ways to get crypto currency for me now but when I was in Mississippi that was the only real option and I was a fan of coins even knowing that they rolled over ultimately gave the information to the irs to the IRS wanted because coin based was providing a valuable service to the crypto currency community. They were the gatekeepers yes. They protected the normal people the grandmothers from things things like stellar and other and does coin and things like that they wouldn't understand they go in and buy Bitcoin coin base had only bitcoin. Bitcoin cash cash coin right major coins. Well known in the CRYPTO Christian community and some progress in the wider world but now they've added support for all sorts of crap and they've gone full KYC. So when I signed up for coin base they had no casey whatsoever. It was literally first first name last name email address. You know that kind of thing and then Oh if you wanted to buy over a certain limit then they might ask you for some more information or to verify unquote your account or whatever but the progress from there just went downhill to where there is absolutely no privacy. There as bad as a bank as far as I'm concerned with all of that kind of stuff don't get me wrong. I still have acclaimed base account. Because it's still the easiest way to turn Fiat into crypto. You know in a Jiffy. See if you have more options. Now that I'm here of course but you know I can assist you with that anytime I understand and I'm sure that will happen more often than not but four in the morning I okay I can make an APP. That's the only reason I still have. My base account is if I'm like point one. Bitcoin cash a short of what I need to complete sailors but I do like make an effort to keep most of my crypto off of their platform because when it is on their platform you you don't own your keys and if it's not your keys matrimony. Let's go to the phones. We got Robert Calling from Bellas falls for months Robert you're on free talk live. Thanks for taking my call absolutely. What's on your mind? So yesterday I was on. I didn't I didn't get a chance to finish. There was another another shelter. I WanNa bring up the CAP was there but but it ended. I think probably towards the end of the hour but it was a story that came out of talking then Former governor bat billions He lost the race. I think I don't know if it was this year last. Ask you know whatever it was but he. He went ahead before he left when they had the and gave commutations to hundreds region. Hundreds of inmates. Did you catch that at all. I did not. I'm not familiar with this. It's the story like I mean to me. That's that's great. I want but turned to the State of Kentucky People. They're really up about about what this guy did state but you know the the the interesting thing is that this guy said he went through you know all all all of these files and stuff like that just found a. I mean a lot of interesting things one case she talked about a little bit where you know. All the evidence was just not there was only one people. Send us this person. Did you real quick. I just pulled up a article from. NPR you're a national public radio. That is impaired dot org on his way out. Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin Pardons Murderers rapists and hundreds more. That's the headline pardon. Everyone in my opinion he's sort of in some of the Some of the people that find people that have been out for. Are you know twenty thirty years. So what difference does that make any should well. Wouldn't that elevate their criminal record. Well I mean from what I understand it It gives a person a you know like a like a whole brand new life. There racket racket is is completely wiped. Clean your they're not a felon you know they don't you know I'm not hearing the downside I UH-HUH I mean it used to be. Of course I wasn't around then but like Baffoni eighteen hundreds if you did like a stink five years for like a bank bank robbery when you got out you know after year being out you know you were pardoned by the governor in any one of the stage now. We're just not like that anymore. No we have a lot more people in prison now largely because of the drug war at the prison population has been climbing consistently Lisa. Like the assistant at least start at the drug war exactly and and you know this is a lot of this was caused. You know all because of What the Nancy Reagan and you know pushing you know The legalization harder on marijuana marijuana and stuff like that. And now we're finding out that you know cannabis is healthy for your and it. It does a lot of wonderful things which but it goes. Kinda thing victimless crimes. Yeah I remember. Nancy Reagan's just say no campaign very prevalent back in my youth. I mean that that works really well until the person is thirteen years old. This particular right about that. I understand but I mean in you know like I said in on how much you read into this in terms of what he said on twitter. You know a lot of the things that he said. was you know that it was what people said that someone did well in this seems to me. I've just only sort of breezed over this article presented by NPR. You know everybody's got their own agenda when they publish things like this but if it were me I would have pardoned all of the non violent criminals There's something and to be said for a convicted child rapist to remain in prison for reasons that kind of thing but this seems to me because he didn't do that more like he's just hurling giant Middle Finger in the air at his opponent in the political race. which totally fine with me if you want to give your opponent? The Middle Finger by pardoning a bunch of people I mean by all means anyway when we get back here in a moment. We're going to talk about reasons why you should not vote. Why voting is aggression? It's a fantastic site so we're talking about reasons not to the vote coming to us from a not being covered dot com. The first reason is that if one votes one participates if one participates one condones condones and endorses the process as subsequently what those elected representatives to and say in your name right. This is For the people who say well. If you don't vote you can't complain. It's the exact opposite of that like if you voted. You can't complain because you voted. You participated I on the other hand. The the guy who didn't vote. I can complain all day and night because I didn't participate and I can look and laugh at all you other bastards. Who did participate and go? Hey you wanted a ruler got one yet. Yeah for people who don't vote a slight look man. I was going on about my life and you did this thing wing and you imposed. You'll roll upon me. I can't complain about that. Yes yes absolutely. And you'd be well within your rights however if you voted and and you didn't get your preferred ruler of choice than you literally have no right to complain. In that instance well number. Two electoral promises are meaningless because politicians are able to lie to gain the favor of the electorate and then do exactly what they want once they have it. Well Doc who was it that said that The the republic was doomed as soon as people realise they could vote themselves money. Oh I don't remember but I remember I heard that quote before and then here comes Bernie Sanders at Andrew Yang Bernie Bernie Sanders of course is trying to convince young people all around the country that he is going to actually wipeout student loan debt and I heard what the hell is at bastards name. Tom Steyer right. This is so funny. It's like he's like. Hey there's there's few very few women in your political structure you know Congress senators etcetera and so on and there's very few people all of color you know Brown black yellow whatever however vote for me an old white guy and I will change all of that like how does I mean if go if you don't smell the BS coming up that hot steaming pile of garbage. Then something's wrong with your schnauzers. I absolutely have to find that video now because S. House. I mean I've seen him like in facebook as when I'm just scrolling through my feet or whatever but I just ignore them and keep scrolling because that's the only context in which I've heard about the guy in the first place right. It's not like he's he's not Tulsi. Gabbard here who I would vote for. Let me let me clarify my position on this because some people don't get it I would not vote vote for her in the presidential election. Because I don't believe in imposing own other people I would however vote for her in the Democratic primary and I intend to and the reason for that is because if other people are going to impose a roller upon me and I have the option to choose which of those rulers lers is going to be. I'm going to attempt to do that. I'm not imposing my will on anyone because I'm not voting for the president. I'm just voting for who will get the presidential nomination and it won't be Tolsey Gabbard anyway. So it's still just meet. Don't want to go through and then we've got What's her name The hated Elizabeth. Warren Right yes She's doing this thing now where she's like she's like I'm going to give everybody who collects social security a two two hundred dollar a month raise and I'm going to do it by taxing the richest two percent right and it's like yeah. You know every time that's been tried. That not only has that not happened but it's not even necessary. How about you just reduce the amount of money you put into the giant murdering behemoth? Notice the military terry by like one percent and give everybody a five hundred dollar a month increase. Because that's more doable than what she is proposing. I mean they. I know what will happen right if they atip tax billionaires say no billionaires. We'll do what they always do. They will. They will put their money in offshore bank accounts or finance the competition to that person who's promising to tax thinking. Oh Oh how am I going to best make use of my political dollar. I'm going to give it to the person that's not running on a campaign to tax me more right because that's how billionaires think yeah and if and if all else fails maybe they'll buy crypto. Well you know we hear a bunch of lies Ray. We heard the trump gonna drain the swamp and was Obama. I'm a coming out as this largely antiwar candidates and I realized because of his behavior and office a lot of people have forgotten that but yes The reason we we because I did vote for him in two thousand eight back when I was a status. The reason that we voted for him was because he was supposed to fix our foreign policy he was supposed to end the wars right. It wasn't because we were mad at Wall Street. That came later. Every president in the history of presidents since I've been alive has increased the number of bombs in the amount of military and how much murder is committed in the name of the quote citizens unquote of the United States states of America. See I was young and naive then. I actually Oh Barack Obama a huge credit attitude gratitude because of data to Nice. Is that what I said. Okay all the time. So you're pretty because he was the reason that I realized that politicians are just going to lie my favorite mindless Obama baton lie and that's told by Barack Obama during his campaign was the whole A lot of folks aren't GonNa remember this. Because you're you're brainwashed into forgetting it two weeks after after it happens right His bid about whenever a bill comes across my desk. I'm going to put it online and you're going to be able to. Let's see it for thirty days before it's put up for a vote which never happened right and and what I mentioned this to people who voted for that's dotted. I do now and then like no you just go google it there it is. You know it's right there. I think that trump promised to drain the swamp and build the wall. And all of this and it didn't set. Both Obama and trump claimed that they were going to close Guantanamo. Yes well Bronco Bama promise that he was going to and he never did right and that was the lie that he produced that. I'm most angry about him breaking no really. I mean we. The United States military leterrier is torturing people them illegally and Barack Obama promised to stop that and he had the opportunity and handy power so to stop it. Not So many people upset about Guantanamo. What happened to those people? Where did they go? They're not allowed about it now. It's it's not even an issue. Apparently well it's like the antiwar movement you know. They used to be a lot of people. Were upset about Iraq and Afghanistan. Yeah what happened to them there. Where did they go they? It's Aria and the artist currently and formerly wait now. Can it be both it might as well anyway. I'm captain kick ASS esquire. You're the reverend more show to do. Okay so we were talking about reasons not to vote because does it the Free State a project kind of require Libertarians. To come here and vote. It requires kind of a loaded word for that sport to be successful successful. Doing what it wants to do. The idea is to get a whole bunch of liberty lovers to the geographic area known as New Hampshire and vote. The bastards turns out and I've heard start a session movement. So that's how I understand. Sort of the goals of the stated goals of of that movement. The problem with this as I see it is that so many libertarians are in fact opposed to voting. Yes I wouldn't vote for a libertarian candidate who promise that they were just going to seize power log enough to abolish the the state you know. That's that's what the communists have always said as they ceased power. We're just seizing power temporarily so that we can so that we can and established the paradise that we all want. There's nothing so permanent as a temporary government program right and I imagine that would be true of most libertarians as well. I mean you know what might get me to. Vote is if the voting to secede from the United States of America. where an actual thing thing right? I would vote in that if New Hampshire were in a position where there are enough people here and that particular topic was on the table. You know an H. Exit if you will not to be confused with whatever the the the mayor's doing where he's trying to re rename and read number the exits off the freeways that's happening. I think that's a different. NHA that I'm talking about the brexit equivalent for New Hampshire. Where New Hampshire is just declaring itself a sovereign and independent country from the rest of what's known as the United States of America? I might be compelled to vote for that. That's a good point despite my objection to voting in any other with a perform really. I mean when we talk about voting. Are we talking about voting for representatives or are we talking about voting on referendums and things of that nature and what level are these representatives function because I vote in local elections because usually I know the people personally that I'm voting for have you. I've worked in an office environment. A bunch and I've seen a third and go horribly wrong just even in a in an office you know sort out of workplace environments you know something gets put up for. Hey How should we decorate for Christmas this year. Right something you know some human resources person and we'll come up with some ridiculous thing. Oh we'll have people vote on it. It'll be fun right and it always goes horrifically wrong. The results come in and you you know whatever is decided is decided and then they have to make an exception like oh well. Joey's Vegan so we can't have any you know I don't know you know the reindeer or something you know it's all they all start making exceptions or changing the winning in some way shape or form you know even though it was a quote fair Voghera Unquote election or voting process. Right there is nothing more stupid on the face of the planet than human beings in large numbers numbers making important decisions agreed wholeheartedly so other races not to vote we. We only got through the number to you right away on three are going on to three. The act of voting Greg's legitimacy to the idea that it's acceptable for the majority. The collective to use the coercive arm of the state to impose their will on the minority using force or threats of force. And for that reason it's immoral to vote now. See that's that's where people lose me. I don't think it's immoral to vote. That's like saying like saying because it matters. How Oh you vote right? It's like saying that shooting. A gun is immoral. Because you can use a gun to shoot an injure someone right you can also use a vote to shoot and injure someone but that isn't necessarily how you have to use your vote. Their statement. That voting is immoral that includes be going a voting for John McAfee even though US getting thrown into the trash. That act by itself is immoral so they're essentially saying that it's immoral to loaded gun pull a trigger because it's immoral to loaded gun pointed at someone's head and pull the trigger. Yeah I mean I think in this particular instance. The article is speaking about people who vote in sort of a you know but he meant Mitch the active owning. And that's what that's why did all of that that I that I just said because so many people do equate voting to using voting to initiate aggression against people but one can also vote with their wallet you know if voting is immoral than so is capitalism because capitalist system by which people vote with their wallets. Some people would agree with you most. Libertarians would not however the letter isn't capitalism though like a term coined by Communist. Yes so like whatever you WANNA call it a lot of baggage to unpack then. The free market is immoral. I don't see spending my money as a vote right I get that. It's it's a euphemism right. It's like Oh you can vote with your feet. You can vote with your dollar. The these are all things that you could should would and would be able to do in an actual free market. That doesn't equate pointing the guns of government at your fellow man to get your way right because there are different types of voting. I mean there are different types of currency right. I mean unless you're exclusively referring to the state-sponsored Currency Mansa right you you could vote with your dollar quote unquote just by choosing to use a different currency. Yes by using bitcoin. You can for folks vote with your vote with your wallet against the state hopefully by bleeding it dry and letting it dissolve of its own accord. That's what that's what would happen. If everyone's switched to cryptocurrency yes the state would wither away and die we can ignore them out of existence. Yeah we wouldn't have to use aggression. There would have to be a violent revolution that would just lead to another state. There would have to there. Wouldn't be any politician being beheaded or anything horrific and immoral like that. Just bleed lead it dry by not using its money other raises a non voter emerges from the electoral process. What they clean conscience? Let's me because they can legitimately proclaimed that the elected representatives subsequently say and do different things after they gained power. You're good Lord he phrased this so strangely. Yeah what he means is they're not. The politicians are not doing any of their shenanigans in your name. Well and in this day and age of technology My question for the status folks always. Why can't I represent myself self like I have in my hand right now? I have a device in which I can search arguably the sum total of mankind's knowledge any moment I can send the value of my labor my efforts around the world in seconds right but for some reason. Listen I'm not able or capable or allowed to represent me. Why do I need a frigging to cast the vote for some douchebag? That's not going to do. What he says is GonNa do any? Why can't I just represent myself when it comes to these matters and let's not forget? Of course I that politicians are experts in nothing right. Why would you want your doctor to diagnose your automobile of course not? Your doctor has a specialty right. Politicians politicians don't and yet they're constantly creating legislation. That does in fact interfere with your automobile with your cell phone with your healthcare healthcare and all these other things that they know nothing about like the Republican guy who wanted some type of pregnancy to be reimplanted into women or something. What I don't care much for the state's weird? In general I tend to ignore the states and I know that that's only only possible because the state is so big and the population so big that it can't actually monitor everyone as it will one day but but at the moment for trying. It's quite easy to go about your life however you want a brief period of time And eventually the state will catch up to you because that's what the state does Jay noon talks about a lot on Wednesday nights like he doesn't have a license because he doesn't have a birth certificate or social security number or any here at this stuff and and that works but eventually they're going to find you and throw you in jail. Yeah so the whole state apparatus needs to be dissolved agree am I preferred method of doing that is crypto currency but before we can actually abolish the state. Well there there will be more elections before the state actually withers and dies by being bled to death by cryptocurrency. There will definitely be more elections. And the more people who participate in those elections the more legitimized they become socially so. We're looking at reasons here from not being covered dot com about. Why one should vote? Do you have to put up in front of you and you can't go I can What are we number? Four yes a non voter emerges emerges from the electoral process with a clean conscience. We covered this because we had actually just ended on the fourth. Sorry about we'll go good of five number five on the top twenty reasons not to vote here on free. Talk Live to not vote. Does Not mean one relinquishes. Che's the right to then comment on complain about or protest the actions of the government. It is completely the other way around when one votes one effectively really makes a contractual agreement. The voter is officially recorded. Doing so which hands over the right for someone else to speak and act in their name and as such a sense whatever the government does thereafter a sense to a non voter however has not done so and therefore or retains the right to complain object and protests all they want strictly speaking. I don't think that's actually true. I I think his reasoning there holds up. Well what he's alluding to is that if you do vote you know you've you've -scribed your name to say that. Oh I consent and sent to the system ruling over us. Well I can sign a sheet of paper saying consent to have someone else speak on my behalf. Anyway I mean that's essentially what a power of attorney he is and I can always retract that you know. That is the issue that you can always retracted. Well well I wouldn't sign it over unless I could retract it right but the because of how the American system set up they are rare but there are ways to to recall elected candidates so he is so it's not like a forever thing where Oh you voted for this candidate so now you can't complain because you gave them the right to speak. Can you name. It was like okay. But I hereby nullify that contract. Because he's not keeping his agreement and this is I mean just the fact that it sparks this much discourse about the topic is enough of a reason for me not to vote right. Oh Oh you've you've done I've done nothing of the sort in in music oftentimes I've discovered that sometimes it's best to to leave a space right have arrest. Have nobody do anything right. A moment of silence in between between one part and the next part. And if you do it and use it effectively it makes the whole song right right well as a musician. You're inclined to fill the space with all the musical legal stuff that you can possibly cause you you know you want to write a good but like sometimes you know what you do is far more important than what you actually you do. And to the point of number five Yeah I I do not relinquish the right to comment on complain about or a protest. The actions of government Whether or not I vote. Yeah I mean plus the contract that you're signing by voting think gives you the right in fact to complain about those politicians well particularly if the guy or Gal that you voted voted for doesn't win. Yeah absolutely another really good. I can't tell you how many times I've heard that from anybody right. Whatever president has been like? I did vote for that person. I didn't vote for him. And that Guy Right you and I can say that in all circumstances right you know so a in effect a non voter is having the voter's preferences forced forced upon them Number six participation in the system reinforces the idea that people can't live together without violent control. which is I mean I? I can't argue with that if you participate in the system. It's reinforcing the idea that people can't live together without violent control. Isn't it curious. Just the whole argument. These people use is that we can't have a civilized society without horrifically uncivilized acts and in fact the most uncivilized acts. I have been or have occurred underneath the guise of the government. Right war right. That's I you know. The largest the government is the largest mass murder of all time right any government. Pick one right if you have one. They've murdered some people and they are in by orders as of magnitude the largest mass murders of all time. And so you know the argument. I always tell people. There's a difference between government government and society. Most people can't get their heads wrapped around that there is a difference. Society exists independently of government. Society is the people around you your community you know folks who are otherwise wanting to be productive members and treat human beings like human beings right. That's society that civilized society and when they recognize the difference they come to the conclusion. Somehow the government is what created the society. I've had well I mean they're one and the same thing right when I'm like no. They're not they're not the same thing. In fact they are two completely different things. One is is a violent violent organization who points guns in your direction. If you don't do it they say the other one is like your family. Your friends your neighbors your community and all that kind of thing. Yeah there's definitely a bit of a qualitative difference there Reason number seven not to vote participation in the system implies that the majority he knows what's best for everyone I don't know about you. We talked about it a minute ago but when a large quantity of people together makes a decision for everybody else generally dumb. Oh yeah well I think the average person making their own decisions is usually going to make pretty bad decisions. Because I don't know what's best for me. Well you know better than anybody else else. Yes but I'm clueless on the subject. I just kind of do what I want and most of it really not that great idea but I mean who's being out there. Smoking a cigarette. That's a terrible idea idea. But WHO's more qualified to run your life than you. Oh by far. no-one nobody right like and I don't mean the Co host for you know known as nobody. I mean like not any single person on the face of the planet is better suited to tell you how to live your life. Then you are. You're familiar with yourself herself more so than anybody else you know. You're more in tune with your preferences and your life's journey than anybody else's why on Earth if would you ever want somebody else to have that power over you. And they're basically saying here. That under the Democratic Republic system is basically a bunch of people voting. What color shirt you have to wear? I mean it's more messed up than that as far more immoral. But how would they know what color looks best on everyone everyone well. And you're kind of in effect calling yourself a moron by voting you like I'm not. I'm not smart enough to run my own knife I I I can't I can't make decisions. I know I want everybody else to make my decisions for me. I can't just buy toilet. That doesn't use more water than I went. Want to us. Now I need the government to for me. Yeah it's it's ridiculous man. It is more reason not to vote. Of course you can talk about whatever you like. I just want to get to the ten threes and number ten by voting an individual literally advocates. The use of force. They know what else I probably not. But this is just what's written so we've gotten through ten. We were talking talking off air a little bit about this end. Ian Has some things he'd like to say. Look okay so I was listening to as much of it as I could on the. AM driving on the roads of New Hampshire. So sometimes there's a signal dropout or whatever but I've definitely heard a lot of these before. I'm actually surprised they've come up with twenty reasons. I suspect a lot so this is kind of similar. Tissue Number six seven and eight are all kind of the same. Yeah there's going to be a lot of that in here. Let's go back to real. Oh fast number one here. The idea that you consent by voting and I heard you regurgitate this particular point earlier captain and that is that the I'm sorry I'm pretty sure that when I vote Or that when I've registered to vote I have not consented to the system in fact when I actually registered to vote out here For the first time in New England are New Hampshire like a decade plus ago there actually was a term on the the registration form that said you agree to abide side by all the laws of the state I crossed that out and signed the form and they still accepted it wolves. That's BS and mother most voter forms. Don't say that they've actually gotten rid of that particular terminology since then. You're you're you so of course you're going to do that. The jury is what you're saying. You're going to what you're saying is it's actually not true. That Clinton what I'm saying is the majority of the people who cast their vote aren't going to cross out the section that they know better than to that section doesn't exist anymore and it doesn't exist on most voter for him so that's just not a true statement. It's just a fantasy that these people who write these lists have come up with to justify not voting and that's fine if you don't want to vote then don't vote. I mean it takes up your time. That's like a good reason not to vote voting time it only takes a few minutes really sure in some places. There's like a line now. I mean not around here but you know if you get there at seven. Am and it's like a big election. There might be a slight line. You gotTA drive out of your way to go to the Va.. I mean there's some reasons not to vote like you're busy don't do it But to suggest that you're consenting to be ruled it's ridiculous is is voting not forcing your preferences upon other people of course not because the government gang is going to be there doing their thing whether you turn out or not. And they don't care whether you show up or not vote they're going to go ahead and force their preferences on you anyway. So then. Why vote because you could possibly reduce the violence in what way? Well if there's for instance a vote on a tax item for instance to increase taxes and there have been votes like this. When I left Florida there was a vote to increase the sales tax in Sarasota County by one percent to go up from seven percent to eight percent and they had like schoolchildren out on the side of the road waving signs? Like do it for me. Stuff like this and And so you know if you'd voted no on that then you would have Helped to try to prevent The tax from going up in nearby town here to Keene New Hampshire. They had a vote on a shiny new fire truck. Like two hundred thousand dollar color vote item because in towns the towns people make decisions on things like that rather than like in the city like in Keene City Council that sides those things and mark miss that vote and it lost by one vote it one thing passed passed by one vote so like is that what you're talking about. I mean for me when we did raise this point earlier about The differences between voting for representatives unfolding and referendums. Okay but what if the representative is somebody like Aria dmed. So who's running for County sheriff who also brought up the distinction in between local and federal and state level. No doubt I did hear some of that And obviously you know federal level votes are pretty indistinct and pointless. You're dropping up in a giant ocean but still these people are against voting okay. They're not discriminating one level or not. They're saying if you vote you consent and that's just just total BS. Because I don't consent so the fact that I go and vote doesn't mean that I've all of a sudden consented to be ruled so in in the The Free Society that Libertarians as you know sort of Want to achieve a devoting still exist. I Dunno I guess that would be up to the The organizations that you're I mean there are organizations that hold votes votes for like Yes lord members and siding on whatever spending training in there spouting with one's wallet there's that and putting what certainly still exist in some form. It voting is consensual than. That's fine so I think we need to make the distinction between voting for government versus voting for anything else okay. Well there's that distinction but I still talking about voting for government here when I vote. I'm not voting for government. I'm doing what I can to vote to restrict strict the criminal gang a to reduce the number of lashings that They shout to reduce the number of people that they put into cage attempt to. Yeah I'm going to vote for nobody. Nobody are Co.. Our Co host is names nobody He changed his name legally and he's going to run in the The part the election the primary for governor here in in New Hampshire. I'm going to vote for him. And if he somehow by some miracle actually defeats the incumbent in the primary I will vote for him With pride in the general election he says says he's going to pardon all non violent drug offenders at all nonviolent offenders period who don't actually have a victim so like if that could happen why why wouldn't I want to participate in something like that. I mean that seems like the moral thing to do in that case rather than these people just you know. Their viewpoint is that you're legitimizing chitimia system really well. I would like to know from everyone who believes this and sounds like you believe it deeply taxes they take taxes. Oh I see but does that. Mean that you're legitimizing the system but no it doesn't no because I mean you don't have to pay them right Actually I do really so like when you buy that house is that you are thinking about buying. You could choose not to pay the tax on the house. Well sure but I also choose to suffer the consequences right. which would be? They might still your house from you. They they will still my house for me and and if I resist them taking my house they will send armed men with guns to come and get me and if I refused to go with them they report the authority to shoot me. You're in my life so just by you know protesting them MHM stealing from me. I put my life in danger up to and including death right so that is a system. I want zero. We've been discussing reasons not to vote and although we've disagreed with the author of this article in a few places we have largely agreed with these sentiments the spirit in which it was written I suppose and and in disagrees in a winey spirit about just making excuses for doing nothing. Because that's what these people who are anti voters are we're doing it constantly looking down their nose at somebody who wants to participate in a system to try to reduce the violence in the system. which is for me? The purpose of participating system is is to stop try to stop it from hurting peaceful people and by voting for principal liberty candidates which we have here and I can understand why somebody would be frustrated if all they had to choose. Choose from was like Republican crap can candidate a or Democrat crap candidate. I get that. That's frustrating stay home fine But here in New Hampshire and some some other places you do get the chance to actually vote for somebody who's got some principles and who may actually apply those principles when they get into office but the whole idea of your legitimising. The system is sort of the the overarching theme of the a lot of these objections. Here and I think paying taxes legitimizes the system a heck of a lot worse than participating in the voting system not to mention region also obeying the system Legitimizes the system. So the more people do those things. The worse off we are voting is a trivial activity. That really is insignificant. As far as everything is going but if you actually empowered state by giving it your money you are literally committing to killing other human beings. Now I understand if you're under duress S. I get it. I get it by disagree that financing the system is far more damaging from these however many of them Mr Financing the system. Not just looking at you captain. Chaos but how many of these people writing these articles you know looking down their noses at. Oh will you voted. You're empowering the system. Well Yeah how much money did you give the system this year. Because I'll tell you one thing if everybody stays home. which is what these people want? They want to convince everyone to stay home. Got News is for you if you need to convince everyone of something in order for your thing to work out it's not gonNA work out and because one thing's for sure you're never gonNA convince the bureaucrats to stay home right. They get paid to go out there and vote. That's their system and they're going to keep going out there and voting but yet there have been elections where no one has voted. You know maybe because because it's such a small town in Lake. The bureaucrats were busy doing something else or the politicians just couldn't make it to the polls. They figured they were shoe in Nestor. Nobody came out the zero votes. Were tallied and guess what happened. Somebody still one. They folded up the government and went home. I'm kidding going. And you know what they all paid their taxes X.'s. There is a running motor running theory that even if only two people show up to vote for any election. Let's say the presidential election that it you know. Somebody's still GonNa win absolutely even if no one shows up. They have methods for that. They'll do a coin dot different methods for if no one shows now before we dive further into this. We need to go to the phones because I have something to say. I'm sure we've got Larry from Indiana Larry. You're on free talk live. Hey I was gonNA talk about one this article. I read a book that I have but since you guys are talking about taxes. You can't expect taxes. I I was really shot this morning when I went out to get coffee right and before I came back home is given the state of Indiana over to two two thousand eighty cents for you just would not well for a couple of others Various and sundry things about two but two hundred to two dollars and eighty cents. You just imagine all the people at a fan that and when you buy gas you can't escape so You dream an ear. Allow la La land if you think you'RE GONNA escape. Taxes and property taxes are now that we've been laxed in that been on our government government. What we do is we give the money to the politicians right and they turn around and deal with out today friends and ah tips then And and other campaigns they have I was listening to a program over in Cincinnati last night where they had so called tenth the district that's where they turn to retain a certain portion of the mate is paid and a taxing district right and then they handed out other businesses. Let's say they WANNA come in and start not thinking that If you if you had to come and beg for money to have development then you really. They don't have a business if you had to get one thin it you know now that you get on your own so we have lost that and as far as politicians will take Jake As far as will allow them to do but taxes. You're not GonNa get away with that because they've got taxes and return you make every remove you're gonNA be banned tag. Well certainly. We'll put them corden gasoline aside for the moment. There's no sales tax in New Hampshire. And there's no income tax in New Hampshire. So let let's forget. Get about property tax for the moment as well if you're erased those two things. How much tax revenue is the state of New Hampshire really collecting from the people of New Hampshire? Well through property tax quite a bit. You can't put that aside. I mean that's where they put the bulk a in theory escape those by Nagano. The renter know that they put the burden on your essential thing. Like your own if anything should big from taxes taxes right. They should be the place where you live in most states. There prop so-called property taxes on. And that just means that your taxes can't be raid unless you have a referendum one I think it's a referendum like our kids need to be guarded more the schools. We need to get fifty million dollars. We need to have a mass transit. We need fifty million dollars. And before you turn out you just wrote to stay with all system but That's just the sound of the Times you know what I think is really the bottom all know now though jobs would say the council meeting last. That's nice they are delegating They're taxing authority to certain communities. They have an eight person. Board that can raise taxes is to do improvement community. And that's just the way of saying you can tax the poor people out of out of your community without any action on our part art. So they'll look to you but they do that Matt gone so I just think when we start having our government taking our money at gun point and then turnaround giving it to their friends. That's what we've lost control of the whole system we've never had control over its institutionalized. It's institutionalized theft. I don't think anybody in this room or on this show currently including you leery would disagree that Taxation Asian is theft. I would say it's extortion. Which is technical share? They used to help people to pay the taxes right now. Nah they blatantly that L.. Do that either. They have some program to protect. Junkies are getting some junkie treatment or something and end up spending more money atty on the Jockey Dan they end up patients. Larry listen they got the problem too because they probably bought it on ourself so but the thing about it is. People are trying to capitalize on sickness and in pharmacy like some woman. Other day was on the radio. Talking about her son died of diabetes. Oh man she gonNA start a foundation and write a book on about how she felt when she died from diabetes but You the supermarket. And you see Johnson Park or card's full of soft drinks. They notice the connection right there but they won't stop doing net. What Dan Larry? Thank you so much for the call. I I don't know is there a way to escape taxes That ultimately won't catch up to you because that's what it's all about right become a church. That's a great idea now. I just wanted to you know sort of a what my path of logic is and you know if he wants is to Pick that apart and tell me where the logic falls apart him. You know happy to listen Government is the monopoly over. The initiation of force is in geographic area right. Yeah Okay and so I don't ever want to force my preferences and opinions on anybody else us I would much rather use convincing arguments. You know US facts in evidence to get people to sort of you you know. Oh come to the conclusion that I've come to and so if government is the initiation of violence in a geographic area the monopoly over the initiation of Then why would I ever want to deploy that upon other people regardless of my noble intent. Right like you're not. Why how how wouldn't be if I vote? I'm deploying the government against other people. That's that's a nice opinion but there's no evidence for that. Yeah again that comes back to the idea that is immoral to simply shoot a bullet from a gun because it's immoral to shoot somebody with the gun. Voting doesn't convey any kind of information right. So when you when you when you vote you may have an intention attention right like in my case. I'm voting to reduce the violence. Like I want to choose candidates. I think this candidate is going to do less. Violence is going to reduce the amount of people that are harmed armed but the candidate doesn't know that the candidate all they see is well. At least people voted for me. They must love everything I say. Or whatever you know knows what goes through their heads So I mean what you're saying isn't necessarily wrong but it's also not necessarily right because each individual votes for different reasons so if somebody votes for Donald Donald Trump because they want to see the wall built in C Mexicans thrown out of the country. That's different than somebody who votes for Donald Trump because they enjoy the laugh the laughter that he you know engenders and the fun of of the Donald Trump presidency and the ridiculousness of it Because whatever you do they're going to do whatever whatever they want. Regardless of how you vote so it really doesn't point devoting. Well it's very there's very little point to it especially at the federal level as you guys already covered but at the local level. There's definitely a point to it. It's still I don't see where voting isn't forcing your preferences on somebody else well don't vote for are enforcing gear preferences on someone else. Will I just don't vote. And therefore I don't force my preferences on anybody see what you're saying so if nobody our our co host. Nobody if he wins the gubernatorial election here in New Hampshire. He will force his viewpoint on other people by releasing people from prison. Right Harnett even though. I agree with the premise mess him doing that. He is still in fact right. If fifty one percent of the people say we want him in office for that position to do those things things and he gets an office and unlike any other politician in the history of politics fulfills his promises right he would force the government people alive he would force not the government but the people who didn't want him to release those people force them into now they have released. Those people not really that concerned with how those people feel well honestly if they WANNA keep hurting peaceful people. I'm not gonNA shed a tear because they were you know their system got dismantled if they WANNA keep like you know giving money to violent people. They're still free to do that if that's what they WANNA do. I get what you're saying and you can opt out from the system and feel like your hands are clean You know as long as you're not paying taxes and obeying the system and doing what they tell you because again a lot of these people who don't vote keep going along to get along to keep you know jumping through whatever hoops. They're told to jump through when when they they get fined by the government. Do they pay the fine. I bet you most of them do well. I mean I don't I I'd opt out as much as I can wherever I believe you. I WanNa know about these people who wrote this list. Oh I then had I actually eating ticket and haven't paid it. I don't actually know who the author is. It's from Emma even signed or even an author on gift giving credit or her. Whoever it is I want to know how many of these written compiled by Robert Roszak? Okay Robert Robert. How many tickets have you received in your life that you haven't paid if it's all of them? You got my respect brother because if all you're doing is not voting and trying to tell me you're going to change something that's crap crap because it's not going to change anything no because there always will be at least one person who's willing to vote and you know libertarian. Even stopped voting as long as they keep obeying saying. That's the real problem. The problem is the obedience to the state because as soon as you stop obeying and paying it's over for them as soon as enough people stop and you don't have to have everyone everyone if it were ten percent of the people that's true. Yeah you need a very vocal. You'd grind it to a halt. If ten percent of the people who received parking tickets didn't pay. Hey the parking tickets. They'd have to toss them all out. They don't have time for that in court. If ten percent of the people who got a speeding ticket didn't pay the speeding ticket demanded a trial. They'd be overwhelmed overwhelmed with cases and they wouldn't be able to build courts and judges fast enough they'd have to throw him out but all these people talk about not voting act. Like that's GonNa do something. I'm sorry. Sorry it's not going to end the state. It's going to do nothing. I I would like to point out just at the very bottom of the article. They sort of summarize the twenty reasons that's right And let me just read it to you and you tell me what you think. If you are not voluntariness then by definition you are an involuntary volunteer and as such personally advocate the initiation of force or threat of I against people who haven't threatened or harmed anyone therefore for every person in the world one of these. Two statements is true. I advocate a society where people are free to voluntarily interact with one another or I advocate the use of force or threat force against innocent people in order to make them comply with my opinions and preferences. I think that's beautiful. I totally advocate for voluntary society. I am a volunteer. I know you not only do. I advocate for it. I will do things to try to forward. That aren't activists. Yeah I will do things. Well this guy is active because he wrote an article but I wanna know what else he does because that's good trying to convince people of not voting. Oh that's cool but what's that really going to accomplish. Nothing I think. crypto currency is a more viable liable method of halting the state. I totally agree. Yeah I mean. I've talked about the ideas that stack on top of that. Like the Bit nation thing right where it literally forces governments to become competing service for even forcing the government forcing I mean it literally. Early Jane Martin Competition to into competing service providers by inventing a new and better way right. It's it's the buckminster quote right. Don't fight the reality that is instead build a better model and deploy it. And that's how you enact change so I mean I don't necessarily think you're wrong about your moral belief that voting may at some level. Encourage you know the state or or whatever I mean I don't WanNa put words in your mouth or what I I think that ultimately you can look at it as these people are religion and they have a very crazed religious belief. And we're not going to talk them out of it anytime soon We're not going to convince him to not Vo. We're not gonNA convince them to stop participating in their crazed religious system that is violent and based and violence so accepting the idea that a large number of people will continue to believe in this system than it is a harm reduction model to participate in. I think some of what I'm hearing you say. Correct me if I'm wrong is the voting in self defense. That's absolutely what I've heard. I've heard this before and I can't. I can't poking any holes in that right if you are under duress by the setting that that state will put people under duress and so you're trying to reduce the duress. Well it's I mean we all exist in a state of duress. As long as the state exists. It may not be successful but I still have the right to complain to come back to the other one. I absolutely have the right to complain. Yes Oh come on. That comes back to father. George Man George Carlin. Yeah well the idea is that the person is going to represent you and even at the person you vote for wins. Wins if you don't like what they're doing you can still complain. Yeah and I will. It's bizarre to say that they can't complain because they participated in the system they don't represent present me and I'm under no delusion that they do they represent only themselves they couldn't possibly represent anyone else and so I mean the whole system is bs in it's garbage but as long thing as it exists I don't feel like it's immoral to cast a vote to try to reduce the violence. Because it's going to do what it wants by and large I mean if we actually voted for a bunch chipped libertarians. Who Actually? We're going to keep their promises and go in and dismantle government. How do we know that they're going to keep their promises? And they get elected actually a cool little Group here in New Hampshire after called the New Hampshire Liberty Lines that tracks all that stuff unless it's just assumed that they will keep their promises. The state will come right back because people want the state eight five five four five zero three seven three balance of nature changing the world one life in a time. It's Aria and I'm the captain and who doesn't doesn't like little oral sex. Evidently coming from we are letting live dot com a Felicia cafe is exists now and customers can receive oral sex while they drink their coffee. They can how this doesn't exist already. I'll I'll never know which you it just tells you that we don't have a free market right Prostitution is illegal right. That's how that's why it's not legal. Rights sex services in general are illegal with the exception of what Las Vegas Pity County over where it's in Nevada. You can only have legal gambling or legal prostitution. If I recall correctly you cannot have on the prostitutes. I don't think so. Well maybe you could could from a different county. So they had like a Webcam in the county where we're was legal to do prostitution and the betting went on in the county next door. Then you'd would probably be able to do it but we need to talk about opening a business here after the show's over no so. Evidently I mean I'm just going to let them take it away because they do a better job with it you've heard of happy ending told. I'm wrong gene. Christian anarchist says all counties have have gambling. So I don't know what the restriction is. Maybe they just individually decide on whether they want prostitution or not. I guess that could be just done at the county level. So you've heard of happy innings CD underground massage parlours. I've heard of them. I'm not convinced that it's really even think never having gone to try to get one. I have never tried to go and get when I've never been to one of these massage parlors but it's a thing doesn't the owner of the New England patriots or the Kosher. Whatever know something about the owner got caught up in a sting operation? Down in Florida to Robert Kraft his name. Okay they had video of it. Apparently well now you can get oral sex. At coffee shops. At the end of this year shops plural is the chain mm-hmm evidently it probably a successful franchise opportunity so it's called Felicia cafe. That's actually what what is called all right. And it's opening in Geneva. Switzerland no point beating around the Bush on that. Maybe everyone knows exactly what they're getting there. You fought thought long and hard about the firm behind the Swiss cafe called face girl says customer so it's not called Palladio cafe. It's called face girl. They know they're calling the cafe. Felicia cafe the firm that owns seek. Half of the company is okay. It's called face girl. Gotcha they say that customers. I will be able to order coffee. And then select a sex worker of their choice from an IPAD to give them oral sex. Okay sounds better than starbucks. Sounds more expensive than starbucks. Yes I can imagine a starbucks pretty damn expensive. I nicknamed maimed four bucks back in the day because you can't get out of there for less than four bucks so evidently fifty dollars more expensive. That's what they're oral. Sex surface costs hold on. So is it legal to do prostitution and would you say Switzerland. Switzerland is legal. You there evidently okay. I mean I don't know if they were like a fifty dollar a cup of coffee and then you get a free. BJ To go along with it. You know you're not paying for the BJ. Friday that's right. Yeah some sort of loophole to write although usually that they they cover those loopholes in laws against prostitution. Like you know you can't give away a drink in New Hampshire Lake. It's illegal to give people drinks apparently in in New Hampshire or something from what I understand like depending on how you read. The law like essentially any distribution of alcohol without a license is is a crime waitressing every time we go to the bars right. Well there it's a legal dealer who's who's giving me alcohol so there it's okay but if you like buy a six pack and you're at your house and you give one to your friend as I understand it that's actually a crime. It's just not enforced. That sounds a lot like the The airplane bottles on the airplanes. Right like you can bring your own airplane bottles onto a flight But you cannot open it yourself really you have to legally right. I mean I've been on plenty of planes where I brought airplane bottles and I opened it. So He's GONNA I don't know but apparently to be in compliance with the letter of the law. What you need to do is some in the attendant right the little button and get the person in uniform? Come over be like well you please open this for me and then they open it and hand it back to you so that you're technically not serving serving yourself. They have served. It's ridiculous. That is ridiculous. I was going to be that if you try to get around certain laws like well. I'm not selling alcohol. I'm selling you a pencil and you're getting a a free bottle of alcohol I'm not selling. Bj I'm selling you a cup of coffee. They usually have prohibitions in the laws that cover that stuff. They don't hear New Hampshire for prostitution Shen and Recording however that's true you can make a sex tape in New Hampshire. Pay A girl money for the sex tape and then never published the sex tape right and it's completely legal and then arguably you could delete the tape as long as you have the intention of distributing distributing the thing and then intention could change after you create it. Yeah the table she well. The lighting was awful. Yeah so as always as critics blasted the proposal claiming that only developers would benefit from the business but alas prostitution is legal in Switzerland as long as the the sex workers have permits okay. That that's a strange idea to me. I'm so I'm sorry before I can pay you for this oral sex. I need to see your permit. Did the government approve you to give people oral sex in exchange for money. That's like the in the state of Washington. They have the food handlers permit and this is for anybody that works in a restaurant you must I go take this government class and then pay a fee for them to give you a car that says you've taken the government in class and now you are certified to be able to flip a burger. Yeah that's not uncommon. I think that most most states have that I understand it I grew up in a time. It didn't exist so they say they'll be doing business by the end of the year. Sounds like a good time to vacation in Switzerland. Books flights to Switzerland putting that reminds a lot of money for a BJ. That's true it is just a novelty it would be easier to just go to. It is the novelty but it was still be a lot easier to just like go to a bar here in some junk college shake. Is that easier okay. I mean you're probably GONNA pay for it. It's somehow whether it's paying for the booze or you know actually subscribing to the service girl it'll be as good as a professional a sober professional. Maybe not but the gap between worst oral sex and best oral all sex small really small okay and there are bigger problems to complain about if poking someone in the face isn't going how one would like so. How did it does opportunity? I will say that it does and of course around here not around here but in in the United States they do have like the tiki cheeky bar. Kind of concept where It's hot girls basically serving serving coffee or whatever they had that down in Sarasota terracotta. where I I was from and I never never got to go to one but it was always interesting driving by as a kid they have those I'm trying to remember what they're called. World in the state of Washington in Seattle particular end they will frequently get busted for prostitution like the topless or even just the Bikini Baristas priest is They'll run sting operations they'll find out that Oh for an extra ten bucks. They'll you know Take their top off. You know for while they're making the guys coffee or whatever you know Kinda thing and then the cops will swoop in ridiculous because you know. They've harmed so many people they're doing. So because the the cops are Horn dogs and prostitution though captain you alluded to this a moment ago and you're correct ultimately you're GONNA pay one way or the other whether is by. I having a girlfriend who is complaints. You have to listen to seriously or whether it's buying her drinks or whether just giving her cash in the making her go away afterward. I'm trying to remember the comedian media into who said you know. Basically all women are prostitutes on then. I I'm not disagreeing with that. But you're going to pay for it one way or another whether their prices one hundred bucks or it's marriage into lifetime of bliss right. That's some form of feminist happening. Okay that works I mean the independence pendens from the British empire was celebrating. I suppose time to do it again. Yes it absolutely is. Well join us for the Independence Day weekend hand at Rogers Campground. We're going to be there from June. The twenty ninth until the July the owner. But I'll be there and I'm just looking forward to it. It's GONNA be Great. It was great fun last year. You don't do it unless they have their own special event on their own campsite that is exclusive and they're selling tickets for that but yeah there's no folk festival the correct so anyway. We have Amazon News. We were talking about the Amazon rink fiasco off the air. Yeah off the and that brought in another story about Amazon. Evidently there shipping enough packages that they're basically competitors with Fedex and ups. Now Yeah I was. I was shocked when I saw this headline line. That's a lot I mean. That's to be distributing that many parcels. Yeah that's what shocked me about it. Because I knew they were going that direction because they had they have their own prime delivery service. I mean on your from Seattle. So Amazon is their their home bases in it is right the headquarters so so there. That's what they're doing like some of the experiments where they had that Amazon store where you can like go in and you scan your Amazon App at the the like there's like a turnstile I guess you go in. You take whatever you want from the shelves and walkout there during the day with your hand thing right where they take a scan of your hand and then that scan of of your hand instead of doing like face recognition I recognition. That scan of your hand is then in their database. And when you go through the thing you put your hand in this thing and it scans your hand and that's tied to your Amazon was on prime account. So you've been in there haven't been in there but okay this. Is your stores same store. Okay because I remember when we were first reading about it it was you were going to use their APP out but now. They're doing biometrics while they're experimenting with right. And so the I I used to live in either or I used to live in South Lake Union. Which is the shadow of Amazon Amazon? Everybody that lives in that neighborhood either works Amazon or has worked for Amazon or is in some way you know reliable. Yeah and so But that store or is in Seattle on. That's they're using that store to incubate any future ideas and so you see it happen in that store I so I've never seen an Amazon truck shipping anything right. I saw the first one that I've ever seen like two or three weeks ago. I was in Hillsboro and I saw which is just a crappy. Little Town in New Hampshire. Sure in the middle of nowhere. Basically it's a nice Taco place that sells tacos for crypto currency. In fact we're going there tomorrow. For crypto meet up but when the last time I was in Hillsborough I saw like one of those kind of work. Van Looking vans But it had the prime smiley face on the side of it. Didn't have the word Amazon on it but it was obviously their logo and one of the the things that they've been working on is rolling out their own delivery trucks because what they've been doing is until recently they've been contracting with the United States. Postal Postal Service Conan are Tuesday night co host. He delivers for the US. P. S. and he works on Sunday normally don't have postal service on Sunday right like that's not the postal service but the postal service is on the roads on Sunday exclusively delivering. That's all they do on Sunday. Now I know I know that in Seattle title They have a whole boatload of subcontractors people who own their own pickup truck or van or whatever doing is that what they're going to those contractors and they're saying all right. We want you to be our Amazon prime. Or whatever delivery guy and so they're giving those guys the opportunity to you sort of franchise if you will become an Amazon delivery person like officially get the logo and go all in. And so. That's the last I heard was that they we're kind of rolling out these trucks or whatever turns out they must have got a fleet of Airlines Moving packages around the story from the verge. They've been steadily growing their logistics operation over the last decade and it now delivers more than half of all Amazon packages in the United States. According to an estimate for Morgan Stanley published just last week and reported by C. Z.. Lord now how many packages is that. That's a lot right Amazon. I imagine it's a lot but I would like a number. I don't know we'll we'll fussy. We find that out here. But it's a staggering increase of the course of the last few years it means Amazon which now operates its own freighters and cargo planes is accelerating its push to own entire logistics chain and end its relationship with companies like Fedex and ups. So that's their goal will end end the US post office presumably. Yeah So their goal is to cut out those people from the picture. They WANNA be able to send the package straight from the shipping center to people who are or associated with Amazon in their hands to the end. Customer and at the current rate Amazon is set to pass both Fedex and ups in US package volume with the company currently delivering two point. Five billion packages per year compared to Fedex is three billion and ups is four point seven billion. I love it Amazon. Prime costs me light. What thirteen bucks a month or something and everything gets shipped to me for free? No additional charge. I've never had Amazon contact me and say that my package couldn't be delivered because there was snow on the ground. No but I have had Where you know you check on your orders and it's like Oh your shipment is being delayed? It was held up in you. You know wherever right some city or whatever and it'll be delayed for like a day or something like that but without being delivered by Fedex or I don't know it's just when you go to the tracking tab and your your orders on your Amazon account to yeah. Amazon is an absolute behemoth. They're able to do things no other Entity can do and they deliver booze in the state of Washington where it's illegal to deliver booze I don't know how they've served. They've achieved some sort of exemption within lost somebody. I'm sure they were like who hasn't had the idea for booze delivery service I of yeah right now. I've been thinking about to do it. You know and there are. There are a couple of websites that popped up that. We're trying to do this right once. Called like drizzly. The IR is L. L. Y.. They're trying to do this but Amazon cannot only deliver booze they can deliver it in under an hour in Seattle Washington. Yeah you get a lie or blue. It'll show up in an hour. So yeah these guys are just getting started. Apparently don't they use the drones for delivery services in Seattle as well. I don't know if they do that yet. But it's coming eight five five four five zero three seven three three maybe all of this means that we can ultimately get rid of the United States. Postal Service. We're talking about Amazon prime here at or just Amazon. Prime is one of the mini services. They offer have either of you ever used Amazon Prime TV. Whatever they call it why I used to just recently to binge watched the expense my favorite science fiction television program? Did you find it to be worth it. I mean as a guy who knows how to acquire files of any TV program. No but I did. I actually had canceled my prime and just had a regular Amazon account. I know that's unheard of. You can do that yeah you can. cancelled my prime And then I actually resubscribe to prime just so I could watch this show on the night that it drops right because I'd have to wait arguably a day before quality files which show up you know in the usual place Shaw Fan so yeah I mean I you know and also to it. This was the first for this particular show where it was going to be commercial free And also the only thing with Amazon they put commercials well no but previously. It wasn't an Amazon program. The first season the first season. That's got the the Amazon money and so and you can tell right away. The special effects are cooler right. The interested you know. It's a better production overall because now it's got the Amazon. Is it different different. Where so you know normally if you're creating and television program and there's commercial breaks there's usually like me little cliffhangers during the show like somebody's about to get killed but then they get out of it right like after the commercial break or whatever? Does that kind of change. Now that they don't have commercial breaks is it like changed the structure. I believe it does because now if you were going going to say have this particular season in syndication later on right like running on some network television independent TV somebody later I like you know but I will say what they did. Well let me finish my thought on that is the commercial breaks would be not sort of intuitive. I like you're saying When they write these programs they would write in a little bit of a cliffhanger like El Nino the commercials coming up? Because someone's in jeopardy you know yeah I it's GonNa to be like the commercial breaks are going to be more abrupt. You know when this airs on regular ask TV or whatever if it ever right. But I will say what they did. Do because 'cause I binge watched the entire season they played commercials in between episodes right so I was using the Amazon you. You are subscriber. They're still playing at S- still plan adds interesting in between episodes. I can't say in fact. When are they advertising only Amazon thing? They are okay. Well that's yeah so like I saw commercials for Amazon television programs other Amazon services. You know that kind of thank but only in between the episodes okay and because I was using the web player you know there's no remote involved so it just plays the next episode the next next episode. What did Kinda Piss me off? A little bit was the web player stopped after like episode seven. It just didn't go to episode eight for some reason it probably a jurist asleep but before we dig further into it. Let's go to the phones. We got dodger colleen dodger. You're on free talk. Live Hello Ladies and gentlemen Can you hear me. I'm not used to talking on my headset so A- At either way I don't live in a big metro area. I live in a metro area but It it just Kinda surprised me when when in when you said that you saw prime truck for the first time you know I I I I do construction and so you know I I go sh you know one day. I'll be that one end of town some some other time I might be out in the sticks in the middle of nowhere and it seems like something that Our customers all have in common they all must have Amazon prime. Hi and for example I WANNA say Friday. I You you know the job site that I was working at literally had an Amazon prime truck show up the US. Postal Service show up and Fedex show up all all with Amazon customers porch. Yeah it's Well I mean it was weird for me when I first Saw saw those Mail vans on Sundays. You Know I. I normally don't work Sundays but then I started seeing the mail vans and then now I I see these these prime trucks. I can't go a day without Saying at least one of them you know in those like Work trucks so I just. I just thought it was Kinda weird that in one day they had a private vehicle. I forgot if it was you. UPS UPS or Fedex but they had one of them trucks and The United States Postal Service all dropping packages on these people's dorm using I mean it makes. Ah Well it makes sense. It's the holiday season and so you know Like me I do all of my holiday shopping On Amazon. Because I just don't feel like going out stores and dealing with that stuff granted i. I don't have a prime membership so I just usually have to deal with the postal service or UPS OR FEDEX or agree would be more efficient. If instead of getting three delivery trucks out there to this person's house they just had to send one. That's what they're working. It was their own truck. I've achieved two of the three. I have not achieved the TRIFECTA. I've had the. US post office deliver something from Amazon on the same day a couple of hours apart from ups also delivering me. Something from Amin here in Kenya. Okay right 'cause I haven't seen a prime truck in keene yet right. I haven't I haven't achieved the TRIFECTA but now I have something to shoot for well living in the woods so I mean it may be a little bit before we start seeing prime trucks. Which is why I was surprised is to see one in little old hillsborough? Yeah isn't hillsborough more in the woods. Then Cain it is but it's closer to Concord. Oh yeah that's true okay. Well Amazon certainly delivers a bunch of stuff. Two and a half billion and a half billion catches. That's Amazon's delivery. Then you add in you go to Fedex three billion. UPS UPS four point seven and they're not talking about the amount. I don't think they're talking about saying Fedex had three billion Amazon packages. It's not clear that I don't think that's what they're saying. So it sounds like Amazon's volume is going to eclipse Fedex as volume at some point. Relatively soon right I'm assuming they're figures for Fedex and ups mix Hodel. Yeah well dodgers either. So what we're thinking here. Is that Amazon on by itself is clearly delivering two and a half billion packages right but fed. Yeah but Fedex and ups they deliver stuff from like Ip see and wish dot com and other random places as does the USPS. Some portion of the packages. They're delivering aren't actually from Amazon. So Amazon is probably delivering most of their own unpack it. That's what they're saying. That was the first claim in the story according to CNBC Amazon is now delivering more than half of their own packages which means it remainder of them less than Hatha Eh are being delivered totally by USPS Fedex and ups so Amazon has more than half and the other less than half is being delivered by the remainder of those companies so we can assume like five billion or something like that if roughly definitely. Yeah so I know that the US would just go back to delivering like market basket. Flyers is there's nothing nobody wants to people's mailboxes. But what will ups and Fedex to volumes. Go down big time. They're in trouble it already has. They're missing out on two point. Five Billion Leeann packages. They could be shipping. Well it's going to be tragic for them. Of course I've never known either of them to be especially reliable when it comes to package package delivery services. I've had things get delayed by weeks at a time. Of course I can't say that Amazon's better than that never having had anything delivered an Amazon truck but if they can solve the problems of the carrier services a more power to them they have freighters according to this story. Who knows or what he will do it? But it's interesting in writing all the delivery and they're making some stuff wait you're saying. They missed delivered packages to him. That were delivered him. He ordered he ordered one item him and he received his item but he got two extra items to extra packages but they had his shipping label on them and he did them. That's obviously the big problem. Nationwide for people that are missing Something it's it's fun boss Bill from Fort Extra. I don't see received. I just made mention of it this morning because he thought it was kind of odd. I don't know what he's GonNa do with the extra. You know normally what you do. Is You contact the shipper or you contact contact embassy according to the shipper there his. They've got his name. I see what you're saying. But if you order something down deliver something to labeling what am I usually the the right thing would be to call the company or you know reach out to customer service and say hey. I didn't order this stuff. What do you want me to do with it? And then they'll you there either. Say Oh well you know. We'll have you ship it back. We'll ship you label. We appreciate it or just keep it. We screwed up usually. It'll be one of the one of the two things because they all had his name on it. That was envoy why he got was the people actually put those labels on or just slamming this stuff out and could care less work. Is it possible that somebody ordered them as a gift for him. Because that's also something you can do. You know we might find that out tomorrow on his show so I never thought of that. Anyway are you. Do you mind a quick little poem for you. Know you have Are you where I'm not watching. Do you have red hair tonight. Yes okay I'm tired go ahead okay. Oh no no no. Don't be scared those red-headed gals gals they stick together like glue. You tell a secret to one. You've told the other one too. They run around town thinking. They're so damn cool. How easy they forget yeah? Nobody liked him in school. I Dunno nice poem or not I I don't think it's actually a third versus song. The redheaded wife Song that I wrote. That's just the third verse but I thought it'd be Kinda Fun Aureus and she's the right at the day probably yesterday too but anyway there you go all right my going great night you so so much for the call. He's a poet and I didn't know it clearly it's about time he made a rhyme. Let's keep going. We've got mortified penguin calling via the discord cord lining discord dot freetalklive dot com pink. What's on your mind? Yeah that was a little sweet com But I wanted to call. I don't know I was too. I know but I heard you talking about the Amazon subject and for guys for a bunch of guys talk about gals talk about current events. And just because where you're located you might be a little bit behind the Times. So I'm I live in the city kind of urban a huge major city but an urban setting. Yeah I gotta say I do for a living the different things that I do take me to different neighborhoods and I mean you are. Just the whole world issues blanketed in these blue Mercedes Benz. It's like sprinter vans. These Amazon vans running logistics for the entire world. I mean they're just going up and down every neighborhood every street. Wow Are you being Ramallah core. They actually driving around Mercedes. Delivery spin events they got happened. Line Little Cargo van sure. And they're all the exact same thing but the fresh Amazon paint job the Amazon color. Oh yeah and I still see Post a post office on Sunday so they must be using that to supplement and they must be doing some other stuff but they absolutely absolutely the whole world. They'll deliver the smallest to you. One thing at a time yes to grow. We're on the outskirts here. We're not seeing it. We're out in the woods literally here and I actually pull it the CNBC story. Because the verge cited that. And there's more information here according to Morgan Stanley. Which is the company that estimated? And that's all we have here's estimates. They they are the ones who estimated the two point five billion packages being carried by Amazon And then you've got Three billion packages at Fedex four point seven at ups they say we see more of this going forward as our new bottom-up US package model assumes Amazon Amazon D- logistics US packages grow at sixty eight percent growth rate from from twenty eighteen to twenty two or twenty twenty two. That would put Amazon Amazon. Logistics at six point five billion packages per year by two thousand twenty two according to the firm. which would far exceed its estimate for? UPS at five billion and Fedex. At three point four per year to us they say Amazon Amazon has just ticks is already large scale Ale and with a fleet one fifth the size of competitors. So you're seeing Amazon trucks everywhere mortified penguin. But they're saying there's still still a fraction of the size as far as the fleet is concerned then these other competitors but yet they're doing a tremendous amount of volume for being a fifth of the size so that says to me there are way more efficient yes than than ups. Fedex well and it sounds to me like they're currently filling in the gaps of efficiency. Hey that exist. Because they're using the other two service right so this is referred to in the technology industry is like the last mile right. You want coverage to the areas where those other two companies aren't real good at right so those are the first areas you WANNA filling. According to this they say logistics of Amazon is is more focused than its competitors on densely populated areas. According to Morgan Stanley's estimate about sixty one percent of their packet volumes are from suburban areas twenty eight percent percent from urban areas and just eleven percent are from rural which means Amazon Amazon logistics rural focus is about half of its competitors as the rest of the industry three typically derives about twenty percent of their package volume from rural so right now Amazon is focusing on the city's in the suburban areas in their leaving out Rural for the moment it sounds. Sounds like that's amazing. That's probably the more sensible way to do it. The costs more gas to go out in the woods. Yeah that's true just off the US. Yeah what they're able to do with the distribution centres all over the place and in outskirts these areas if they're dense enough you're getting one day shipping on everything from Watch watch. Batteries two shampoos to New Sites for your pistol to got anything. You want one day delivery. And they've got everything it's it's incredible and obviously you couldn't pull that off in a rural area but they've they've really proved they're really just supplying the whole world is like the jetsons with little all tubes that deliver whatever you wanted like. It's kind of in a rural area settles. I forgot to order a Halloween costume until like the last minute and the half of the outfit came the very next day and I ordered it at like two o'clock in the morning so technically it came the same day while the rest of it didn't the rest of it took two days which was still within the timeframe that I needed it but being ruled did it keep me from receiving that package same day. That's amazing yeah. Maybe they had it in one of their distribution centers in cocker her. I heard there's one in Nashua and I know there's definitely one in in Massachusetts. Yeah okay most of of my parcells travel through Massachusetts. Occasionally they'll come through Vermont somehow by way of like must be something. I'm not sure interesting could go ahead. It's amazing they've really gone to dave replace. Today should be now most most places have one day shipping thing and there's no minimum amount so you anything they've got so many fans all over the place you can order a smaller things you want. Just drop it by one of these little Bubble ooh envelopes. And whenever you need you get it the next day. There's no like oh you gotta spend thirty five dollars for the for the free prime shipping. Now I mean it's there whatever. It is very cool. Well mortified thanks so much for the call anything that can do to speed up the delivery service. I'm totally on board with that because. USPS IS PS sucks. Oh yeah and it has real time so if Amazon could just start delivering mail that would be great. Well I think Isn't that like the only only thing that the USPS says that these other parcels can't carry letters. I don't know do they say they can't. It cannot carry something under under a dollar. Oh interest if you let it costs more than a dollar you can you can give it to Amazon or ups or whatever fascinating and it would get there faster. Sir This is America's sports talk show sports byline USA. Here's Ron bar gear. Joyce joins us on sports byline. He's a Toronto based author and writer and he has won four National Magazine Awards and his latest book will certainly make all hockey fans happy. It's called most valuable. How Sidney crosby became the best player in hockey's greatest era and change the game? Aim Forever. Here that's a very large claim to make what substantiates that claim. Well I think that if you just break it. Down and Sydney Is really the first superstar of the Digital Age If you go back historically quickly Gordie Howe and Maurice Rashard played in Sixteen League that was basically They with experienced either in the arena or by radio or you know with the emergence of television maybe once a week and Canada and eh US markets and you just compare that to Sydney who you can watch every one of his games James at any time you like You know any any Chil- Stanley Cup playoff games are seen in China So you could take all the previous superstars in the NHL in combined. They wouldn't have been seen as much as Sydney has what they wouldn't have been seen by an audience that big and the other thing is that because because of that accessibility ability players of Young players have the ability to study. Sit the need game and you know my experience You know covered hockey for thirty years. The generation of players today like Jackie. Jackie Jackie was the first tech and last year's draft. He was four years old when Sydney made his debut in the NHL and he's grown up watching video all the players now Teenage players junior players. They spend as much time watching in video as they do on the ice and Sydney's aspirational figure. It's not like the team is six foot six air you you know. And and not like Dino's Chehreh. You can't really go to school on his game but Sydney is actually the template For for AH generation of players and And I don't say that he's the best player ever. I wouldn't make that case I thank. You had the greatest influence on the most people you say that the game has been divided into two errors before and after Sidney crosby arrived in two thousand thousand five tell me about each one very briefly the NHL game in in the really the game that other levels In in North America had sort of. It's sort of read some that some some level of inertia was it was a very tough game To to to play a very tough game to watch at times of very low scoring There wasn't a great deal of entertainment value in there. There wasn't as much speed or flow in after the lockout in two thousand five then H. L. cancelled season The the rules were reject and the game was opened up and two line. Offside it's taken out. And all of a sudden there was all this speed was introduced into the game. The game now has played at a faster pace of far faster pace than and anything that came before it You Know I. It's really two very different styles of play if you watch video from game game in in the fifties their players taking ninety seconds shifts or even even longer and that's just just impossible at the pace that the game is played now It is a game that's played at a dead sprint and in previous eras that time it was like a wall we only have You know to put this into perspective. When you're talking about Sidney crosby three Stanley Cups two Olympic gold medals and a World Cup? And yet you said something that I thought was really true. And that if he hadn't changed the league he might expect a longer career explain. Explain what you're talking about well with the game having sped up as much as it has In in the nature of Sydney's game game I I can tell you when I first saw it predates all these changes He was playing at a international tournament in the Czech Republic in two thousand three and the scouts that I talked to said that they love his game because he wasn't afraid and to go into the danger. Dangerous air areas on the ice. The black ice. is they call it You know and and really he winning. They're not just fearlessly but even recklessly The the one thing with the greater speed that's been brought to the game. Is that the level of contact The the force of contact in the game again has has multiplied really and we're seeing so many traumatic injuries Head injuries in other other types of injuries but particularly concussions. There weren't there even back in the days when players played without helmets And it's it's simply a function of of objects moving faster on on the ice and and the collisions. Collisions are tremendously hard There there's there are fewer There there's UH less of a number of of contact hits now compared to the fifties or sixties or seventies but just the level of contact the force and speed involved. It's nothing that they'd ever seen. Before and Sydney to play his game put could himself has put himself. You know in in the line of harm he takes risks he doesn't play on the perimeter and In that really opened my to to some big hits and and I don't WanNa say ah having concussion shoes what's inevitable. But it wasn't surprising we only have a couple of minutes left. It's because you talk about in your book about how the game is played today and you start assessing fighting and cautions like you. Just did you find it interesting. That the commissioner her in the late generally speaking does not acknowledge about the concussion issue to the degree maybe the NFL does. I mean they fought that you know that is an issue in the national hockey. He League when it obviously is well. I think they're NHL has dragged their skates. It's somewhat in addressing Addressing concussion issues But what I would say is When Sydney spent a season calendar year and more on the sidelines with concussion issues? Skinny till did actually go out and say okay. There's if we lose our games best player because of concussions because of post concussion syndrome that we're doing something wrong. We have to protect the players in our best assets so even UNMACHT Coun- in Sydney has had influence in the management Of of the game and and the rules that are tied to but I. Let's say that. Then he tells come come away on this but not conferring us and a little bit over a minute. What do you want people to take away from this book there? I think that I think that if people could take away at a single player you can have a degree of influence From very unlikely beginning beginning came from an area in Nova Scotia that just hadn't produced a lot of talent That didn't really have have material support that came from a pretty hard scrabble. Background and through belief and success exc some innate talent and he made himself into the most important player of the game and the most important player to so many players in the game. You happy with the way. This book came out in about twenty seconds. I'm not happy that he's on the sidelines with an injury rate. Yeah Yeah like you that that no I. I'm really quite happy. I it's funny. I followed a reported on Sydney for half his lifetime. Now he's thirty two and like I say I talked to him back in two thousand tree Right after his sixteenth birthday here the week of the sixteenth birthday. So I feel like I've been. This is almost two decades project for me. I WanNa thank you very much for sharing your thoughts. What's about this book and I hope people will take taking a look at it? You've got three places you can choose from Joliet West Jones travel for Providence High School in New Lenox and I wanted to go to Joliet Catholic because because I was always going there to football games the kid and the stadium was literally right down the street from my house. Right grew up Maybe a few hundred yards away from my high school from my My home so you know. I got the job Catholic when I was a kid and I told my dad I wanted to go there and partly because you know Bill Alex and went there and they always had a nice baseball program but His success you know we all have people we look up to throwing up my my number for one person. I looked up to of course my dad he was my coach. Little League inscribed was always there taught me how to pitch taught me the great game of baseball and then You know people who actually do it like Bill Gullickson. I wanted to follow in his footsteps and Do it was quite a career. It was a lot of billionaire friends. Hey He realizes what impact he wasn't my career. You were drafted out of high school by the giants as I mentioned and you reach the majors at twenty after blowing flowing through the miners. Were you ready to play Major League baseball at that age. Of course I was. I wasn't gonNA say no. That's a great point ride. I think looking back I probably could've used more seasoning in the minor leagues You know Frank Robinson was my manager at the time and I tell you what I know. I'm going off on a little tangent here but I had the utmost respect just loved frank as a twenty year old pitching in the big leagues for a hall of Famer and MVP in both leagues and being able to see you know. Work with Frank Robinson each and every day was a treat for me as a twenty year old. Yeah but I probably could've used a full year at Triple A.. I got three starts under my belt. In nineteen eighty four was throwing the ball well. They needed a fifth starter. I got called up My debut April twenty seven. So you know it was a learning experience and but looking back on. It was ready. Probably not I was. I'll well I'll be the first word that thrower I wasn't a pitcher threw the ball extremely hard My secondary pitch was a curve ball which I couldn't locate to save in my life but when I got called up I was going to make the most of it and I You know I took my loves my first year. That's for sure. I like the comment you made. Because it was a very honest assessment. You said I thought with my ascension to the big leagues so quickly at a young age and with the stuff I had I would achieve a little bit more than I actually did. That's a very that's a very straightforward response When you think back upon your career how do you look upon it? You know what I I- disappointment When I came up you know everybody? You know when you're drafted number for one and you have a big arm like I did. There's a lot of expectations and you see the young kids coming up the big leagues back when I was coming to Dwight Gooden Even go back I. I you know Nolan Ryan who came up very very young age Couple farley inbetween come up and but I think that my career for me personally was kind of a disappointment because I had expectations been draft choice this and being a hard thrower and having a live arm then I i. I want to win a CY young award. I wanted to be on a world championship team. I want they'll be an all star in and have a long career But then again I look at it. Ron Is if if I didn't have the career that I had I probably wouldn't be in the position. I am now I love my job now. I got a great opportunity here in San Diego. I've been here you know. Next year. We may twenty fifth season doing PADRES games and you know if I let's just fifteen sixteen years in the big leagues and accomplish all those things you know. Maybe I'm not sitting here right now doing the job right now but because of the career I had You know I'm a very blessed very lucky to be able to pitch the as far as expectations. I think personally I feel short of what I should accomplish. That the big league level. That's very honest of you to say. Hey let me ask you about Frank Robinson because being here in San Francisco when he was as the manager of the team frank was somewhat tanker. Is I guess you could say that. But what I have always found about hall of Famers who go into managing mark. Is that they so you know obviously were outstanding and so therefore they have a standard not only for themselves but also for others and it's hard for them. It's hard to manage players that don't approach the game or work as hard as they did. Did you find that to be the case with Frank. I think that is a fair assessment and other managers to through the years. And I'm going way back and I know you had remember Ted Williams Kinda the same way you know. Here's a hall of Famer Triple Crown winner. Who who who tried to manage Knows the game of baseball but you know really had a tough time of of looking at players and That weren't as talented. Maybe and didn't have the success that he expected so so frank. I think we kind of like that. But you know once you got to know Frank Guy was a sweetheart of a man. a gentle giant. But I'll tell you what ron he was intimidating. I being a baseball fan growing up. I knew my baseball. and Ed I knew exactly Frank Robinson was and I was very intimidated by Frank. It was yes sir. No Sir and But I love being around him just because he was Frank Robinson and I was a baseball fan and then now I found myself pitching for the hall of fame manager which was great. We have two minutes before we have to break. I remember talking talking to Bob. Murray the owner of the giants one time about the hiring of Frank Robinson and mark he said to me. He said he wasn't my first choice. He wasn't my second. He was my third choice. Oh he's but he said that was only because I had not been initiated to talking to African Americans about position of being a manager but once I did I realized he was the right man for the team. I thought that was very insightful. For mob I love Frank I love Mr Laurie. I got a chance to meet him When he was in fact when I was drafted he was owner? The ball club and You know what Frank Robinson was one of the best baseball minds that I'd been around. I learned a lot from the way He you know Work the ball game the way he managed to ballgame You can handle the staff with the best and you know granted. He really didn't have the best talented teams all those two years but you know he was a man. It didn't matter if they were or if we were in third place last-place whatever he managed like he was the last game of the season and they they needed the winner so but he was It was quite an asset. Not only to the San Francisco giants what he did but of course to the game of baseball a man I With the utmost respect and it was it was sad. I got a chance to see Frank Couple of years ago dodger stadium. And it's funny. Because every time I saw frank he would he he kinda looked at me and shake his head and looked down to the ground. Because you know what if it wasn't for you she'll be manager and that was always a lie and I'm sure he passed. That line had to a lot of guys but you know what he was a good man. I miss him dearly. We're talking baseball with Mark Grant Former Major League pitcher and now color analyst for the padres. He's television network. We're talk a little bit more about his career and also about his broadcasting career as well because he is just an outstanding broadcaster he brings a lot of fun on to hearing a baseball game. Second Two thousand twenty. This is America's America's sports talk show sports byline USA. Here's raw mark. Graham has joined us here you're on sports byline the former Major League pitcher now color analyst for the padres television network. You know you were talking about Frank Robinson. And then you mentioned about Ted Williams a quick story on my part I was a young sportscaster in Washington. DC in the two years in which he was the manager of the Washington senators. And of course I knew about his reputation tation with the media up in Boston mark but I was sitting on the bench at the old. RFK Stadium. And I looked down. And it's just ted down down at the other end and I wanted to come down and talk to him and interview him and everything but I also knew he could. He could bite your head off if he wanted to but I waited I and I slipped down and gave me those. What the Hell do you want looks and I said Ted? I got a question I understand bone fishing in Florida. It just outstanding. His eyes lit up mark and for four minutes. He talked with me and then he said to me anytime you want to talk. Just let me. We know and every time I went to the stadium. He was very very kind to me but I found that fascinating about him. I found something that he had a passion for and we shared it in a conversation conversation. Yeah you know what I think about that Ted Williams being Ted Williams and whoever's in baseball for a long time and hall of Famer credentials like that. AH IT Kinda I don't WanNA say gets old. But you know people ask the same question all the time and You just get repetitive. And for somebody like Patterson even like for you rod for me you know if somebody came up to me and asked me a question other than baseball and they knew that was a a passion of mine because that would it sparked my interest and you get a different reaction but I think that's that's a great story about knowing and that's that's you doing your homework to That that to me is not just looking at a guy's career and look at it numbers talking about that. That's that's someone like yourself digging deep and finding the person and Ted Williams other than baseball. What makes him tick so I knew he was a sportsman Big Time fisherman and That's a great story. He was on the American experience experience. The one with Kurt Gowdy ABC. For a long time. And so I knew that about him. And the other thing is is that I've always found bounded interviewing athletes that the people out there listening they can't relate to hitting a ninety five mile. An hour fastball sinking. A three point shot but they relate to the human aspect back and I think that's always been important for me to show them that human side of the athlete so they get to know the total picture. Yeah that's the thing you know. I think it's human nature for you even as a kid growing up being a fan I would watch a game and and I just know these guys or ladies if they're playing Sports like tennis. I was the big fan growing up. I watched I watched women's tennis. I watched You know track and field women men. It didn't matter. I just sports but men and women like when we watch them on TV we just think you know as a youngster young. They're just athletes That's all they do but there is a human side and I think that's what's refreshing Coletta. Everybody know and Kinda dig deep down to find out what those people are like. You were traded to the padres on July fourth one thousand nine hundred eighty seven and being traded raided. When you're young can either be a godsend or shocking? How did you look upon it? I think it was a godsend round because with the giants Roger Craig was our manager Al Rosen was our general manager and I. It was a combination to where they liked veteran. Guys I was. I was on a veteran pitcher. I didn't have much success. Up to that point point. They wanted to have some Some veteran leadership in the rotation so they got Dave Vecchi they also got an MVP and Kevin Mitchell. So I went to the padres with Chris. Brown Teeth Comstock Mark Davis so the reason why it was good for me is that he got a chance to start in the rotation I got plenty of chances. Larry Bowa gave me the ball once every five days And then Jack Mckee and took over when he was fired and I then went to the bullpen. And it Kinda AH HA. NFC House bullpen. To answer your question. It was probably one of the best things that ever happened from my career. How did you get the nickname mud? tell you You know. Remember the late Danny. Ozark was on frank third base coach Nineteen eighty-four and my first big league spring training majorly camp at Scottsdale over Indian school and Hayden in Indian school. Is that where the park was right. There was yeah yeah where they had the four fields before we move over to Scottsdale Stadium. And we're doing. PFP pitched trilling practice. Danielle ARC was overseeing covered first base and I covered first base and he said way to go and I was like. Oh yeah I said I know exactly what you're talking about Jim. uh-huh tech rent and So he just always started calling me that in Being a veteran guys baseball like he is and You know being around for as long as I I I kind of took Took that to heart and Kinda you know was flattered that he would Start calling me that. And then he after calling me that other people would hear him. And then it just kind of snowballed. Aw That's how it all came about. You had it stops also in Seattle and also with the Atlanta Braves Houston in Colorado and I thought this comment from you is interesting thing I had to learn how to cope with the downfalls of being demoted while still trying to compete at a level to get back to the big time that cannot be an easy situation relation. How did you deal with the ups and downs? Yeah it's not easy at all because Alter my amateur career and even in the minor leagues I had tons of success and yeah then for the first time you know I had surgery for first of all. You don't think you're never GONNA get hurt. You think you're invincible. Especially if the young player young pitcher so you know now so you know I got hurt had surgery with the braves in ninety one That was the year they went to the world series. I didn't pitch so that was a bummer. So then the next year you know had to start out in the minor leagues and I'm like wow you know it's got its gut check time right now. What am I gonNA do? I'm GonNa just sit back and so am I gonNA try to battle back and got the best shape of my career. Got My back in shape and eventually made my way back up to Seattle in nineteen eighty two and Pitch decently and then you know went out because because Houston in Colorado where kind of went downhill in Colorado and But you know I was it was it was a good experience and Kinda made me stronger being able to experience that make it back to the big leagues. Eight Major League Big League seasons with six teams and when you were asked asked about the highlight of your career. I still laugh when I read this. I had a one two three inning back in one thousand nine hundred eighty nine that I recall. I can't remember it was July or August. Yeah I think it was a weekend series. It was a Friday night and it was like the bottom of the order. It was like seven eight nine hitters. 'cause pitcher was definitely the ninth theater. So but no you know what I have found something out longtime ago. I it's just my personality. You know you gotTa have a personality in life you gotTa. They're things that takes Thursday. Don't get me wrong. I mean I I had a passion when I pitched I. I was a competitor. I you know when I got mad I wanted to fight and I think maybe that was my downfall. I was my own worst standings trying too hard and But I think I know when to have a good time as well Because you know after all it is baseball it was my living living. I made the most of it. I worked my tail off to try to stay healthy and safe the big league level. But you don't want it was time to have fun. You know you have fun and That's that's assist have always been. Well you summed it up correctly by saying I learned to take my job seriously but not take myself too seriously here. The has fun. I mean. That's you know all when I was growing up in coming up in the minor. Lays you meet the big league guys and you find out that you know they're just like you They have to work just as hard. Maybe some guys are more talented than you. But the guys that I gravitated to and loved what are the guys that had the great sets of Uber And two of my dearest friends in the game are Mike. Rubio dwayne hyper and I think the world of those guys. Those guys are like big brothers to me When I got called up to the giants in eighty four as you mentioned before I was twenty years old? They were thirty two and thirty four and Dan. You know these veteran guys were taking care of me and showed me the ropes and telling me what to do and what not to do and how to be a bigger so but they had a great sense of humor. They were serious when it came to baseball. Tell you what when when it was time to have fun they were the best. I WanNa touch your broadcasting career. It seemed like to to me is I thought about it and read all the things and how you approached it when you were injured you did a season of color analyst play by play I think it was with the cubs organization nation in Iowa. And when I think about that you must have thought at some point I need to make a transition after I stopped playing baseball so you started preparing. I'm for that transition. Am I correct in that observation. Absolutely you just out the head Rod. I pretty much knew that I was towards the end of my career. I had had a couple of injuries. I got hurt in Des Moines in Nineteen ninety-five House with the Iowa cubs. My dream was to be a Chicago Cub. I grew up Joliet. I grew up big time cubs fan so I thought my last goal round. Hey sign with the cubs in a chance to pitch as a cub at Wrigley. That never happened. But when I was in Iowa I got hurt again. My shoulder and Dean Ellis was the radio play by play guy. I just sweetheart of a Guy Gentlemen are pro and he became a friend because he traveled with us and did the Games on radio so I was hurt and he said he might once you know you know you get your workout. That'd before the game and Come on up to the booth and sit with me. We'll talk the ball. I serious he goes. Yeah come on up because he worked by himself. I said I'd be more than happy. The two thank you so I went up there and you know doing a little color and stuff like that so I forgot what game it was who come back from a break and You know he says Dean L. Here Nashville Tennessee Iowa cubs game of a three-game series. And we go to the third inning and here to bring you the play by I play it would but it was a great experience and it was something that I always wanted to try and know that my career when I should say when my career comes to an end You know this would be a great gig. This would be something that would be really really really cool to do and That was pretty much the start of it you want said I think part of being a color analyst bringing a little color to the broadcast. Or we're telecast how would you describe that style of yours. I kinda pushed the envelope. I'll admit that I've not your cookie cutter. I'm I'm not your cookie cutter color analyst. It's just what it is. You add some color to the broadcast or telecast I think that's the job you know when when I do a game aim Ron. I tried to teach I try to Tell what's happening and then I wanNA have the You're maybe chuckle a little bit or have a little fun and I think if you do those three things. I think you're doing a pretty good job so my style is kind and like yeah. I'm serious about my job and I'm prepared the best I can but you know you know if you're going to be meat and potatoes baseball. One hundred percent of the time and the game has tended to. It's in the third inning. I mean I think you're gonNA drive yourself nuts and I. I think of like a player on the bench you know players on the bench. They're locked into the game. They're talking about the game but they talk about other things as well. They talk about what they had lunch that day. They talk about when they went to the mall. They talked about their off-season. They talk about their cruel for their wives. They talk about both. I mean you know it's like you know they That's what happens during a baseball game. And I think that kind of the way I go about my business. That's what I carry over into the broadcast cast booth and I think that's the best way to describe how I go about my business. We've got about ninety seconds left and I'd BE AMISS IF I didn't ask you about one of your broadcasting partners the man that I got to know respected immensely. Oh my Dick Enberg. Yeah yeah he is greatly missed the professor as I call them. I tell you what I never worked with a guy who was more prepared and wanted to put up the perfect telecast the perfect broadcast. He knew that it wouldn't happen but he was prepared repaired and he was the best craft and he was the voice of my childhood sports and I was very very lucky and very very to work with the man the hall of fame for many years when you look back on your life and your career to this particular point. Is there anything one thing. That's ingrained in Mark Grants. Mind that I'll never forget.
