And there were the moments during our wasn't really sure that would happen. It was a feisty first hour, and you can call me Vernon welcome back. Bruce, Pearl later on more guest to come including Dan dockage. We'll talk about the cats and the PJ Washington situation. Your phone calls at eight five five to four to seven to eight five and clay is up next in Tennessee. Hi, how are you, sir? We are great. Thank you. I don't want to comment on the end of the Duke UCF game that last play when Duke was behind by what three design had the ball. He he lowered his shoulder and ran over that guard just inside the foul line. I mean, just it just blatant. Of course when he got to the goal. The fall taco fog. I was inside that protective circle. So you couldn't call anything. But I n ran over that guard and then on the missed free throw. I don't know the player with the Duke player that got the rebound goes back, and he pushed the guy inside him. Now CBS when they showed a replay from the floor level, you only see like shoulder up, and then at the very end they have the overhead debut, but it's too late. It's after the push, but also Twitter feed today that showed clearly that the Duke player pushed the UCF guy. He propelled forward about a foot or foot and. Half. And when you're in that situation, you're not just going to act like that that was blatant. I mean, so if there was any collusion that was it. Nope. Collusion is competitive. And all that the real collusion in this country in the past twelve months, but also just want to say and get your opinion that once in college basketball a day once you get to certain point with the ball. If you the me all you have to do is go forward, the defensive player doesn't seem to have any leverage whatsoever. They end their teaching these guys just to drive in or just to launch into the defensive player. Now, if you've got a defensive guy that's going straight ladder when he gets there late, that's one thing. But they need to change the rule that if a defensive player is moving backward and just has his arms up they got the change to where the that that's going to be charge. You see these guys all the time. I don't think we really in a position here to to get the rules change. But we can talk to people who were in the middle of that. Thank you very much for the call. Great to have you on Derek is in Dallas, and you or on the air garage ahead. Hey there Paul one talked about the money. That's made off these the empty AA tournament games. Okay. You know? I'm proud knob from our SEC's now from Arkansas living down here in Dallas now and not only do I think that teams are just better than the rest of the country. But one thing that makes it so great is the profit sharing a read the only conference says he see that does the profit sharing of all the money that has made. I I don't think. So I I'm pretty sure it's big ten and I have a feeling others as well. It's a fair it's a fairly standard deal. Okay. We we probably just. In the Pac twelve because they don't have any profits to share. And I'm understanding that we just make more not because of that the network, but just from the well, listen to read don't sell the big ten short. The big ten network is pretty pretty successful as well. All right. And and I always get to hear you talk about a Mike fly and the legacy that he is brought onto the or the continuing legacy does great to hear some stuff like that being a thumb just call me young being in my twenties. Then get a share a whole bunch of the the start of him. But I wondered if that was a part of what he did when he brought to that. He well, let me say this about Commissioner slide. This league was in very good shape. When when he took over from for more, Kramer, ROY Kramer, helped establish really the national footprint of the by by doing the first CBS deal, and he didn't number of deals with ESPN as well. But Commissioner live enhanced that and Commissioner slide was. The one who made the final decision to go to the SEC network which has been and I'm not saying this because I'm sitting here saying it because it's factual it was the biggest launch of any. Sports network since ESPN, and it continues to pay dividends to every member institution. You can you can find the numbers all over the internet. But they are enormous. And I mean enormous so that that's part of his legacy. He he wants told me he he would prefer to be remembered for being the Commissioner of the SEC when Mississippi State until Vesta Croom broke the color barrier. That was that what he always said was his proudest accomplishment. But I will tell you as not only his close friend. But but as a student of this league that the SEC network will go down nationally as his most important accomplishment. But don't don't forget to the Greg Sankey who is the current Commissioner was Commissioner slides right hand man during that entire period. Well, I appreciate you all naming off some of those people, it seems like the SEC has so many of these legends from a Dale Brown my fly, and you just called out, you know, more filibuster Croom typo being from Arkansas, we don't have too many of the we had Derek I'll tell you this. We talked to one of your legends the other day. There was one. It remains one of my favorite interviews of the year. We have no Richardson on here. And I could talk to that man. Every day all day. Thank you, very very much for the call. Great to have you on. And I man is calling next. Good afternoon. I'll tell you that those on normal numbers for the SEC those Awale bathing them since Wes real money. And you know, it is obvious that this e is dominated no other conference got a network like this and what did the Commissioner do who d- higher? I he hired the biggest baddest gun in the west. You are Jesse James. You don't take no prisoners, and I'll you into that. I'm and our goal is to fill those jails up. That's exactly right. I mean, make America great again. Oh, you can't use it. Can you know? But anyway, will you can I don't know why. I mean, you're making more a great move forward than anyway, another topic. You know fall. I mean, I heard you talking earlier to Bernie, and you would think emerging since he's talked to you once before he would kind of get the fact that you were nailing him down to the floor. But he didn't he didn't. He didn't quite you. But I am by the end of that call Bernie was debtor than the Bernie on weekend at Bernie's. Yes, he was. Yes. He was he. And then, you know, like a true heavyweight you were not there and danced around for round two. And you in that, you're ready. You're ready for the punch and now well, I was paid to go fifteen rounds. And I gave I gave the audience what they paid me for you. That's right now you ready for knockouts not got. So not heard us talking about Auburn, Kansas. Now, I agree with you Paul Kansas played a young freshman team. But all day long, Kansas blew up blue blood, and they're young. There's and they're better than what ninety five percent of the young freshman around the country and all these basketball schools. Something like that. Something like that. Then really big numbers. And you ought to agree with me. This ain't Bernie you're talking to. And this ain't the first time I've called you up. I'm gonna call you again tomorrow and every day for the rest of your natural life war damn eagle have a little bit nervous about what happens beyond my natural life. I may will still be knocking on my door. He will who's that. Knockin? Rob is up next. Rob go right ahead. You're on the air. Hey, thank you very much for taking my call. Thank you. Earning. Hey, I'm willing to know what you thought of that Holly Warlick interview after the game when she threw the team under the bus saying they had to do more on their own time. And that they had to come back and start a new coach. I don't see how you going to do it after seven years wanting to know what you thought about that. And what was her name Westbrook? She said that the off court stuff from the staff was getting to be ridiculous, and she wouldn't say anymore. And I wanted to know what you think about Fulmer is he going to our real ringer of coke or Willie try to hire another assistant. You know, I don't know what coach fomer is thinking he has yet to make a public comment on Holly Warlick situation. I mean, I think it's time to make a decision not my decision to make what it is. But but I think the longer distracts out and I have a hard time believing. It's going to drag out very long. I'm sure they have a plan up there and. Get real upset. Wanna mayo cokes those team under the bus? But that's exactly what holiday did. And it burned me up and one more thing. I'd like say congratulations to Rick Barnes and the Tennessee vol's. I think they're gonna make fun of war. Okay. So they deserve it. Appreciate the call more to come. Dan, dockage Kyle Tucker, Bruce Pearl among our guests as we're we're still young to show them Monday. We'll talk to Dan dockage, what kind of job is Alabama back. We have made it to the second hour and there were some moments during the first hour. I wasn't really sure that would happen. It was a feisty first hour, and you can call me Vernon welcome back. Bruce, Pearl later on more guests to come including Dan dockage. We'll talk about the cats and the PJ Washington situation. Your phone calls at eight five five to four to seven to eight five and clay is up next in Tennessee, Oakley. Hi, how are you, sir? We are. Great. Thank you. I may will still be knocking on my door. He will who's that knocking? Rob is up next. Rob go right ahead. You're on the air. Hey, thank you for taking my call. Do. Thank you. Hey, I wanted to know what he's out of that Hollywood like interview after the game when she threw the team under the bus saying they had to do more on their own time. And that they had to come back and start a new coach or I don't see how he's going to do it after seven years wanted to know what you thought about that. And what was her name Westbrook? She said that the off court stuff from the staff was getting to be ridiculous, and she wouldn't say any more. And I wanted to know what you think about Fulmer is he going to our real ringer of coach or really try to hire another assistant. I don't know what coach Volmer is thinking he has yet to make a public comment on a hollyw- early situation. I mean, I think it's time to make a decision not my decision to make what it is. But but I think the longer this drags out. And I have a hard time believing. It's going to drag out very long. I'm sure they have a plan up there. Yeah. And I know everybody seems to get real upset when a male cokes those team under the bus. But that's exactly what holiday did. And it burned me up and one more thing. I'd like say congratulations to Rick Barnes and the Tennessee vol's. I think they're gonna make the phone afor hope so they deserve it. Appreciate the call more to come. Dan, dockage Cal Tucker, Bruce Pearl among our guests as we're we're still young in the show on a Monday. We'll talk to Dan dockage, what kind of job is Alabama. Welcome back. Glad you're here. And we're working our way through with the bucket, the Wildcats and what they're dealing within the PJ Washington conundrum with call Tucker, Bruce Pearl in the final hour. We are busy today. And understandably, so let's check in next with Kevin who's up on the phones at Hello. Kevin from Alabama. Hey, how you doing Paul? We are doing great. Thank you up. Think. Auburn will be nor clown. North carolina. Thanks. Kevin preset. You chime in gem is up next in Michigan. General all great great. I'm still trying to figure out who read Bernie drivers like to them. Well, you know, apparently, maybe Kentucky has different requirements than the states that I've lived in. Well, I'm L A. You all the way, and I'm wondered if their cars and cell phones now in Kentucky. Kentucky. I think is pretty contemporary in that regard. Yeah. Well, I'm up here in Michigan. And I graduate of L S Q eighty one. So you know, what we've been going through with that basketball team. No mutt. Yeah. I got my new black FCC shirt on and I'm LSU out head to toe, and I'm state fans here habit fall. There would be amazing to see LSU cut. The nets down in the lower the banner or I mean, raise the bed. Hey, I think it if possible their teams that were good is LSU that beat them this year. You're right. Well, Jim best wishes up there in Michigan with all those Michiganders' Richard is in Tennessee, you're on the air. Hello, richard. Hey, how you doing? We're doing great, sir law. What you've got a great program. I talked to you about two weeks ago about Holly and a. It was a Sunday or yes. Going for. It was in yesterday's paper. I've never heard Tele. But coach you might get a state like she did it says. The lady the future of the lady vol's is out of control. Now, I've been a eighty three years old. I've been a Tennessee tie in full recept years, and I've never in my life or the coach Dennis e making mistake of our cat. What did you take? I apparently that statement is not going down. Very well, listen, she she has to say whatever she feels like saying, but I don't think it's going to help her. 'cause do you. I don't think so I think well fourth two of four mastery Knoxville. And they said it coach Fulmer whether going say making it statement about Holly until the men vol's finished out. So then he's going to Iraq. And then these going like statement. So he said he's not gonna make say mental Tennessee's go over that again. Well, the guy was on this one of the sports guys talking on on on TV yesterday. He said that former would you wasn't going to make any statement about Holly until the men balls Pitney style. He didn't want to. Yeah. Well, listen that sounds great in theory. But you know, there is there a recruiting issue. I don't think you can afford. I mean, what if what if Tennessee doesn't finish till April eighth? Yeah. It's going to be bad at it. I don't believe that. I mean, you you you still have recruiting I think ever create immense recruiting going on right now. I'm assuming women's are. No different. Yeah. Yeah. So I personally I think coach Fulmer is going make steak, but the next within the next few days because he's not willing to go and go. Well, listen, I don't know what's difficult to decide. I mean, they they had. There was a two week layoff between the SEC tournament in the double most people assume they'd get in and most people correctly assume they would get right out. So they've been eliminated since Friday. What's there? What what is there to decide? What what what what compelling argument could anyone make including Holly Warlick to keep her job. I don't think there's anything else after saying to the, you know, he's I think he should go ahead and say, you know, what back this nine of what he's doing today. Let people own and Richard. Thank you. I'm not trying to us. What what what did we get here as a gauge? But I've yet to have anyone call in and say, she should remain. It seems like the Tennessee fans. Are there's a preponderance of Tennessee fans who want her out. For one which it would be decided. Either way in blinking one. Could note that moment blaming Lehman is up next in Kentucky. That's me. How you doing Paul? We're doing great. Thank you for the call. I I'm calling. I don't have to take up for brought in a little bit. And I'm only answer football questions the basketball born, okay? Okay. Okay. There's no bad than Alabama is the greatest football program. The reas in the nation. Would you do that? Well, not this past year. But it's over overall. I would say it's a pretty accurate statement. Okay. Do probably played the best game. They played all your ways. No they play best game. They played out. Your his Kentucky the first game of year. Would you agree with that? Okay. I'm gonna I'm going to agree with that. Okay. Kentucky all kind of asked me if I'm a communist next question and say, would you agree with that? I'm going to jump out of my chair. Okay. I'm not going to answer that. But, but but I think Vernon has Virga point he'd tell me. He is the winningest program in the history. Lehman Vernon had a very narrow minded myopic opinion Kentucky is a great basketball school. Anyone who watches his show who watches this network knows that but he was upset that I that that people had been saying the Duke North Carolina's to gain that everyone wants to see in the championship. And and I agreed with that. Because I said today in two thousand nineteen those are the two most prolific programs the two wishing three of those games. Already the three North Carolina games have been the three of the most watched games Kentucky is very good Kentucky's. Great. But right now Kentucky does not have a rival like Duke or does with North Carolina. It's the number one rivalry and all college basketball, and there's not even a second choice. And I will agree. I agree with Lavery park. What I district with that can chug it can play Duke or Notre Lanham anywhere in the nation and could tug it will have more fans in the stands the neither one of those groups, which may why would knowing argue that I mean, Kentucky fans are the best. But where he was trying to make a case that Kentucky and in Kansas or the two bluest of blue bloods in the country. And I was just simply saying today, and that's that's I try to deal in today. Kentucky over if you say what are the five biggest programs in college football history. Five biggest basketball programs. You're probably gonna start with Kansas. As basketball was invented Kentucky would be on that list. But so would do in North Carolina and tried to claim because I live in that state. I have a bias. I mean, are you kidding? That has nothing to do with it. I'm not from. The country. I mean, I I get enough ACC every day in my life that that I have to take DRAM me not to just to avoid getting air sickness. We'll take a break. More of your phone calls at eight five five to four to seven to eight five. We'll talk about Kentucky a little bit later as well as Bruce Pearl. Join us as we get you ready for the Sweet Sixteen. Welcome back to the program. Glad you are here. And let's move along and talk to Bill in South Carolina. Hey, Bill, you're on the air. Hey, can you hear me? Okay. Yes. I can you sound great. Okay. Super. Thank you talked before about the integrity of the game in football. And I don't know if you're calling we've talked about lending scored it Clemson Penn State and other school. But anyway, the integrity of the game and the integrity of the system both academic. And in sport wise is extremely important. I mean, we his feed off this stuff the sports now. And I still think that this this guy there's a there's a journalist who received the courage war in several years ago. And this guy's name is Dan Kane, the rights for the news and observer in Raleigh. Oh, yeah. I know he's the one that broke the North Carolina's story didn't they right, right? And there's a new article out by by him and another man I forgot who it is. But they came out in January which again addresses what happened. It's shocking both the academic fraud and the use of the before. A teaching by the by the athletic department, and typically I would ask you, please. You're very honorable man. And and you treat everybo- you treat everybody beautifully even old guys like me. But I think it would be great to have an exposition on. You're just have Dan Kane come on explain what was found. It was it's shocking now whether sanctions should be imposed or not that's that's another story. I think you and I both fell for a red herring here where Davis when which Davis was was was sanctioned and the football team in two thousand. I think it was twelve right problem is there had been academic flawed going on from nineteen ninety three to two thousand eleven where were classes that didn't even exist in half of the people taking the classes were athletes who had been would sent to those classes by staff faculty, and I'm sure the athletic department. Why not it was a free? Great. And in the process, I think we may want to look at maybe a national chain. Pressure for two by the basketball team because many of the athletes who went there for basketball players. Did they have enough credits to play basketball? I would suspect. No, I think this needs a real exposition people need to and by the way, the NCAA talking about courage, lack none in this process. They gave to bogus reasons to why they could not do anything. And of course, NC the the UNC folks lawyer up and as soon as they did the NCAA backed off unlike Missouri, not my heart goes out to Missouri. I'm no fan of Missouri, by the way, but I think they've been royally taking advantage of they North Carolina spent twenty one million dollars lowering up in pay it bought them national championship for ROY Williams. Yes. But that's garbage. If it is. But the listen, I don't want to relitigate that case. I think it's important. I think it's important that we. The issues the issues involved, the the bylaws of the NC double A and the academic issues did not fit yell. No. I if you read your article review article to January when we'll see the reasons given by the NCAA or bogus. No, I understand. The people that were that were on that committee. That heard the case are it is it is our and there's I've never I've yet to meet a North Carolina fan who's the least bit embarrassed by it. Can you do me a favor though? Can you have Dan Kim, moan and tell you what happened? It would be wonder. How would I do not know him? But I would be delighted to we'll get him on when I say, thank you. Oh, no look forward to it. That's a great suggestion of appreciate it Spence in Jackson. Tennessee is up next. Hey, spence. Mister Powell day and much call or doing great. Thank you you or your role in today. You put out the challenge they bring it or say own I'm gonna take a different tent on a Vernon's comment and let you know and listeners, I I'm from Tennessee. I'm actually from Memphis a gun my masters. Get say, no, we have something common as far as you know, our home, but I'm true southern guy. But I lived in California for a very long time and west of the Mississippi other than Kansas, which lot of people consider a fly over state. The biggest rivalry in sports is USC and UCLA. Interesting. I didn't realize that. And again, that's after spending ten years out there. You know, there's a lot of people. There's a lot of money, and that's that's my two cents on it. Well, I'm glad to hear from you spend. Thank you, very very much. Let's go to William who is in Alabama. Hello william. Hello. Hey, how are you? They're nice to talk to you follow. I'm a thirty year old reader listener and watcher hang over much. I just wanted to ask you about. Dial about basketball I've seen John Pelfrey was mainly inner on colts. Yeah. Do you think he has any chance to get the job? No. I don't think he has any chance. You full it south Alabama book was the fault at all. And so so I really think. As a former Kentucky player, he was a longtime assistant under Billy Donovan. He did a great job in mobile. He did a terrible job in Fayetteville, but he is only the interim coach right now, and he is simply holding down the fort until Greg Byrne hires burden intermediate, what's that you think Obama have any chance of going big name coach there. Yes. I do. Auriol? You have any idea who might be. No, I don't I do think they're looking at some prominent candidates and Greg Byrne came out today and addressed the media and pretty well eliminated. Some of the ridiculous candidates like Rick Pitino. He didn't say that specifically. But by talking about integrity. He did. Runny is up next. Ronnie go right ahead. I'll have your day going. Excellent. Thank you. We talked about this one and done. You know, it's always when only college basketball, but it was all ways to their junior year. Now, they're leaving that freshman and sophomore. And it puts a lot of pressure on the coaching staff. Accrediting that's the one number one issue. Do you think then say AA will ever change their law where you have to play two year for whatever I think, it's highly. It's more likely that you will do away with the one and done and allow players to go directly from high school than you will see them raise the classification. I mean, they've already lowered the age that's the newest legislation to go. I expected to or three years. We'll we'll see the return of what we saw years ago and high school players will go directly to the NBA very few can do it. But when this year could have done it, quite well, we're back with more.

Coming up next
