Listen: Democratic Party, United States And America discussed on Bill Press
"Getting it from the guests. There is a lot of concern that there will not be peace between people in the Democratic Party who identify as more center left, not as far to the left as others do and those people who do identify further to the left lot of concern that if this relationship can't be properly handled it very much could cost the Democrats, the twenty two thousand presidential election. There's reason for that concern, I'm not going to sugar coat that the question is how do we go about hindering? It look just because you may be more. More of a centrist type democrat doesn't mean that you're going to pull people who have a more progressive point of view about how this country should operate. You're not just going to simply say, look, you know, you're gonna lose us the election. Come and do it my way because you know, what they're going to say to you know, you're gonna lose this election. So come and do it our way. Well, we're the heck is that going to get us? Here. We see the game plan of the Republican party. The game plan is simple, call the Democrats. The party of the socialist, call the Democrats the party of infanticide and now call the Democrats the party of anti-semites and anti Israel. Now, you all know that. Absolutely. None of that is true. Yes. There are people in our party who identify as democratic socialist. If you have spent any time learning about what? What democratic socialism stands for it? You know, what the first thing is that you figured out then have a whole lot to do with socialism. It has a lot to do. And you've heard me say this over and over and over again, it has a lot to do with improving and expanding the welfare state, no not the welfare state that we always talk about in this country, which in the minds of way, too, many Americans just means handouts to people who don't want to go to work. That's not what the welfare state is the welfare state is a capitalist society, just like the United States of America that decides that a certain amount of money should be redistributed and set aside to be there for people who have a harder way to go in their lives. And I got news for you in case, you don't know what already and I think that you do. Most of the people who need that assistance. Whether it is for job, insecurity, whether it is for healthcare, whether it is for a roof over their heads, the basic things of life. These people who need this are not people who don't want to go to work. They are not people looking to Leech off of the larger society there people go through a hard time. Yeah. This happens in the real world. No matter how hard you try sometime. So let's not let them get away with this. The Democratic Party is the party of socialism because it's not true. We're not even the party of democratic socialism. We just have a a wing of our party that wants to see an expanded welfare state. Will you may agree with that? Or you may disagree with that. But I can tell you for a certainty the way we deal with those disagreements. To the extent that we have them you talk to each other. You realize going into that conversation? Look here's our overall goal. First of all we want to benefit the people of the United States of America. And that needs all the people that should be what we're about. Secondly, we need to get Donald Trump out of the White House because that may be more than any other thing, we could come up with accomplishes. The main goal of benefiting all the people of the United States of America. If you go into that conversation people who identify further to the left and the Democratic Party people who identify further to the center in the Democratic Party. If you go into that conversation with that overreaching goal in mind, you'll disagree some but you'll come up with a strategy. You'll come up with an approach that may involve a little bit of compromise. Hey, I'm still one of those people who does not view the word compromise as a four. Letter word, but you know, you come out of that conversation with an agenda that everybody can sign onto and you are ready to go to get behind whoever the candidate may be of the Democratic Party you get behind them. And there you go. You are ready to go into battle. You are ready to get this government back in the hands of people who actually care about what happens to their fellow Americans. That's the way it has to happen. You can't just complain. Oh, we're going too far to the left or you can't be on the left and complain. Oh, you centrist, your wishy-washy? You don't know what you're for all you've tried to do for all these years is get along with people on the other side. And they just don't want to get along with you. This can get us. Absolutely nowhere except nowhere near sixteen hundred Pennsylvania Avenue work"
