Listen: Los Angeles Lakers, Luke Walton And Sacramento discussed on Mason & Ireland
"Yep. It's the beginning on. All right. So we'll get to that on Wednesday. So the Los Angeles Lakers over the weekend, it became clear that in fact, Luke Walton was. Was fired. He they did not part ways. He was fired. Well, either here's here's what I thought. I had a little different take on it. I think Luke had the Sacramento job in one hand, and he was under contract to the Lakers for another year than a team option the year after that. And I think he went to the Lakers and said, what are we doing here? Dave mcmenamin Lakers announced Friday afternoon team and Walton mutually agreed apart ways. But make no mistake. No matter what the media release said Walton was fired despite whatever challenges existed Walton wanted to remain the coach of the Lakers. Okay. Do you think he wanted to remain the coach of the Lakers with no extension? Don't if Sacramento was playing forty years, the whole extension thing you're already you've got two more years of a contract. No. Well, he got one plus one, right? What I heard was that? He would ask them to pick up that second year pick up the option. So you had at least two years. They fired him. I don't disagree. Yeah. But i'm. Saying I think Sacramento expedited, the fact that you know, he's already the coach the cable. I know they're announcing it, by the way, fantastic young roster. I've got the earned FOX. You got Marvin Bagley. You got a nice young roster that so it's so I think that I suspect, but don't give me the parting ways thing he was higher. No, no, no, the reasoning part way. So you could take, but he was fired. Yeah. I love the whole parting ways, it's like just took it a truth people. But anyway, you want to spin it. Magic's gone and Luke's gone, correct? And the guy left is rob rob Pelinka as the GM, and you may have been reading over the weekend that rob is getting hammered in the press Brad Turner from the LA times for Friday saying that basically every GM in the league is saying you got to say unqualified also underqualified he's under qualified for this job. Brian cabinet ski just put an article on the athletic within the last hour, diving deep into this about how genius tying herself to rob Pelinka. And I'll tell you what I think first of all. I'm glad finally somebody wrote 'cause I never felt comfortable just saying Linda Rambus his name, but genie and Linda are together running the Lakers. They're running the Lakers. They are joined at the hip that is genie's main adviser lead adviser. She's I don't know director special operations, or whatever the heck it is. But she and genie are operating in tandem. I will say this. I think Jeannie trusts Linda, more than any other person. They're right. I think she trusts Kurt. I think Kurtz, going to be involved in whatever new hierarchy. It's just like come on just grab everybody, you know, and run your team. How when are they going to start up? It's not a mom and pop business anymore. It's a multibillion dollar corporation. Are you telling me there shouldn't be a broad and wide search for somebody to run basketball operations or that? You're just going to rely on your friend and her husband and Kobe's agent. Well, let me answer your question. With a question. Yeah.."
