Listen: Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders And Trump discussed on Michael Medved
"The greatest artists in the world. Probably if you think about it. I would say Jovita might be. Greater than almost any museum in the world. And it's burning. Very badly. Looks like it's burning to the ground. Everything is burning. It's going to be a total catastrophe. And it's it's engulfed the entire structure. And he's right. It's it's it says nothing will remain. So it's terrible. I think everybody shocks have. Everyone's staring at the blaze eight three three eight five two four eight six six. We are talking about the politics of the weekend and the president and his proposal to send emigrants to sanctuary cities. Got a lot of. Curious. A lot of anchors on the the weekend shows quizzing Sarah Huckabee Sanders, how could this be how could anybody? Think that this is a workable policy. Well, the president proposed it a long time ago the White House proposed it we didn't know how far it had gone. But there was a big report in the Washington Post that the president or someone at the White House was considering it maybe Stephen Miller, you know, he's the he's the real immigration guy in the in the administration, but it was proposed that the detainees would be shipped to sanctuary cities. And that was a breaking news report in the Washington Post. Can you believe that this was even suggested, and they wrote the story is if they had uncovered a secret scandal after the story came out, the president said, yeah. I did. Yeah. You got me there. In fact, I liked the idea, and I'm gonna propose it again. So he used that opportunity to kind of double down on it. When I heard him do that. I thought to myself this is the kind of thing that when Mitt Romney was caught saying that forty eight percent of the country would never vote for him because they're all getting free stuff from the government that was supposedly scandal. They they had a hut. Mike. They had a secret recording of him saying it at a donor meeting, and he came out, and he kind of he apologized and wasn't my best wording backed off on it. And at the time I thought to myself Romney should say. Yeah. I said it I said it knows right? That's what's terrible about the modern world. That's terrible about the Democratic Party. They got everybody hooked on the government. And he should have been proud of that statement. I thought that that was a perfect example of how President Trump they leak out. What is supposed to be a scandal embarrass him any embraces it eight three three eight five two four eight six six eight three three eight five two four, Tom. Bernie Sanders is going to be on Fox News the evening, and he's got a town hall. People are complaining. What's he doing going on Fox News doing a town hall? There's a lot of people they blame Bernie for the election because you know, Bernie gave Hillary a hard time. And they think that's what might have been one of the things besides what they think they obviously like to blame it on the Russians and Trump himself, but they also blame Bernie still. So a lot of them are still mad at Bernie, but he has a strange appeal to Trump voters does he not because he's always talking about the American worker, the forgotten worker. He saying, you shipping our jobs down to Mexico. And I would assume Bernie agrees with share that our cities are overburdened, and we have to take care of our own people before we can start shipping. More people into them. Eight three three eight five two four eight six six Brent in Columbus, Ohio. Hey, tom. So I was a local union president for a while the United Steelworkers. And of course, a lot of the Bernie rhetoric was overlapping even in twenty sixteen with with Donald Trump. And a lot of the folks that I knew who are registered Democrats voted for Bernie in the primary and then voted for Donald Trump and the general. So this isn't new that overlap in this idea that we would do American workers. I is not new for Bernie. I think the suppose that Bernie were the the candidate this time. Let's just suppose that were true. It may be hard for Trump to win those same voters again against someone like Bernie because so far. I haven't heard Donald Trump put forward a plan that actually works to America and those working class, folks. I and Bernie has. Yeah. And so you think who do you think obviously Bernie's going on Fox News tonight? He is speaking in certain ways that I think he's trying to attract some of the old Trump voters. He wants some of the deplorables on his side this time around who do you think's going to do better Bernie at attracting the Trump voter or trumpet attracting the Bernie voter? Bernie will do better at attracting Trump voters. But the problem is burning might this act. The I call them incredibly leftist, progressive Democrats. You know, he he may lose that group because they may see them as Trump light. Maybe I'm not sure what you would call it. I think you get what I'm saying. I do and it'll be interesting to see because Bernie, I think Bernie's going after that the deplorable, and I think Trump is going after maybe the the socialist. But if he can get it. Brent thanks for the call eight three three eight five two four eight six six is the number eight three three eight five two four. That's my question to you guys is that the there is this crossover. You know, people, you know, workers factory people people work at coal mines, or even you know, even poor minority workers in inner cities day are sick and the Democratic Party. And I always said the Donald Trump used to go in front of black audiences or African American groups and things like that. And he would say what have you got to lose? What have you got to lose? That was his that was his appeal, which I you know. I I'm sometimes I think I'm smarter than Trump. And then he proved me wrong. And I say, oh, I get where he's going. But the what do you got to lose? I never thought it really was the the big Resonator with minority voters for Trump. I think. What have they done for you lately? Your friends these people who keep telling you. They're your friends these people who keep telling you. They're looking out for you. This party the Democratic Party the nine out of ten. Of the. Of the voters and the African American community nine out of ten it's a it's a huge. It's almost uniformly. Right. And you know, there are a lot of black conservatives as well. But the, you know ten percent, it's not much. How does Trump capture that it is appealing to those people saying look these guys have had you as a voting constituency. For thirty forty fifty years, however long, and you have not gotten anything out of the deal, and you've given them you're loyal vote. What have they done for you lately? Gimme a shot. Eight hundred three eight five two four eight six six eight three three eight five two four Tom. My question to you who has a better chance Trump winning over the Bernie voter Bernie winning over the Trump voter Chris in Vacaville, California. Hi, I need to Kate this with the fact that it's basically minorities in our country that need our services, welfare, and all the all this stuff that the illegals would be taking when they come into the country racist to bring in the illegals bump out are black in our Mexican. That is a great. That's a perfect appeal. Chris. Yeah. The putting it in those terms. I don't know if I've ever heard Donald Trump addressed that issue in that way. But that's a perfect thing for him to bring up the idea is he says, okay, when when people come into this country illegally, and they take a job, you know, it's probably not a a white privilege job. Right. Or whatever words you want us. It's probably not a job that's going to come from someone working at Google some college graduate. It's going to be a black. Or Hispanic whose China scrape by right? Out of the services, aren't they Democrats being racist by that Suming that are minorities should be the one that take this influx. We're dumping it on them. They're the ones that are gonna lose concrete assets. Yeah. That's a great point. Chris I that is a. Thanks. Thanks for the call. It is. Well, I even like the terms you put it in a way that it's a almost stronger terms, the kind of things that Trump uses all the time because he has a way of he has a combat of language and the way that Chris asked the question, Chris, thank you for the call the way the Chris asked the question was why are the Democrats being so racist? And you know, it's. It's it's it's combative in its. In its questioning, right? You're making a series of assumptions to get to that. But you're basically saying this that Democrats are championing the open borders, and who are they hurting they're hurting the entry level worker, and it's not an a hundred percent of the cases, but they're hurting Hispanic workers. People who came here legally. I mean, that's number one, right? If you have an area that has a already a high Hispanic population, which all of these border towns, do and they're he'll legally, and we allow more illegals in what are you doing? You're driving down the wages of those legal immigrants. Donald Trump should be going to these areas and saying why are Democrats so racist against you? You Americans."
