U.S. Navy's first Black female fighter pilot to receive her wings


Black woman fighter jet pilot gets her wings of gold this week. A story from CBS's Daniel Bacchus Lieutenant junior grade. Matalin Squiggle is making history as the Navy's first black female tactical jet pilots. I am really honored that I get to where the wings and fly planes and call myself a pilot. Hip hip Thie, Virginia native graduated from the U. S Naval Academy in 2017 before flight school. She had never even been in an airplane that was really excited on takeoff, like feeling the exhilaration and getting thrown back in the seat a little bit. That was awesome. Currently only 15 black female aviator serve in the Navy. Swagel hopes those numbers change. And
