The number of coronavirus related deaths in LA county rises to forty four just include six nursing home residents outbreaks have been identified at eleven skilled nursing facilities the county is also reporting the first case of a jail inmates testing positive the LA times reports he contracted the virus while being held at twin towers and for people who work in the county jails the deputy custody assistant nursing assistant and the doctor have also tested positive there are also two cases confirmed in the homeless population the county's public health director says both those people are in isolation their close contacts are being identified and are being quarantined and we also know that there's one staff person who has worked in some of the interim housing for homeless providing services for people experiencing homelessness that is also tested positive Dr Barbara Ferrer says there have been dozens and dozens of cases identified among health care workers they really do put their lives on the risk on on the line every single day they're taking a lot of risks are caring for people who are often very sick and need elaborate and and close contact in the care that's being provided so we we owe them a debt of gratitude for being on the job and doing such a good job the number of confirmed covert nineteen cases in the county is approaching twenty five
