Listen: Lebron Lebron, Lebron James And Sean Seventy discussed on 0 Show
"To get into here. Lebron James's name. Well, he's always the news. But this time it's for a different reason. Sean Devenir covers the NBA or sporting news, Sean, what are your thoughts on the conversations, for instance? Kevin Durant interview with Bleacher report where he talks about the fact that you guys don't want to go play with LeBron LeBron's tough to play with is that Kevin Durant pretty much saying, I don't want to be a Laker. Is this a smokescreen? How do you view it? Yeah. I mean, I I I don't think there's any question that that. Kevin Durant, wasn't intending to be a Laker all along. But you know. He's also he speaks the truth. And that is that it is tough to play with LeBron. And and and Chris Bosh talked about that quite a bit. When when he was with Miami that that you really do have to change your game. You have to be prepared to to be the number two number three option. Even if you've been the number one option all your life and your so there's definitely a big adjustment. Because no matter what the bronze gonna have the ball in his hand. And and you know, we've seen that time and again with with with star players that that he's had to play with now in the end does it work out. Yeah. Usually does. Usually if you're a star player playing with LeBron James. You have a better chance of winning a championship. Then you do yourself. There's no question about that. So yeah, there's there's certainly similar Lutton. I think on the part of guys who see themselves as league players in terms of playing with broad games. But I think the results speak for themselves. I think that that that that if you can't learn to play with LeBron James, and and learn to win with LeBron James, and maybe you need to, you know, have have your commitment twinning, really. But Sean does this make us look at Paul George a little bit differently in terms of look I thought he stayed in. Okay. See because they could offer another year and much more money. But is there the possibility that a guy like Paul, George, you know, kind of feels the same way like Kevin Durant and didn't feel that playing with LeBron was the right fit in Los Angeles. Because let's face it. Sean a lot of us thought he would go. Join LeBron Los Angeles. He kind of put the guy on that quickly last year in free agency. Well, I think that that's a separate situation. Because. Paul George when when he was still with Indiana was all for being traded to Cleveland, and you know, he actually wanted to be traded to Cleveland, and there was a deal in place in the wound up falling apart late on draft night a couple of years ago. And and that really is the only reason that never wound up playing with with the brawn James. But you know, I think Paul George would've been open to that. I think it's more of a matter of Paul George really liked that organization in Oklahoma City and really wound up falling in love with with the city of play with Russell Westbrook. He liked everything that was there. So I think that was necessarily about LeBron James who more about what Oklahoma City did to keep Paul George there rather than Paul George not wanting to play with the abroad, the sporting news, Sean Devin, joining us going deep, Dan Schwartzman, NBC sports radio. So with the names that are available and free agency next off season. Legitimately Sean d think that the Lakers will be able to sign a second superstar with all the money. They have to join LeBron. No, I it's gonna be tough. Because there's there's there's certainly level there in MENA drops off pretty quick. So you have you know, you're quite Leonard you have Klay Thompson. And and and you know, once you get past those kinds of guys, you know, Kevin Durant. Obviously it drops out pretty quick. And and so, you know, it depends. What you want to call a superstar? Now could they signed Chris Middleton? Yeah. They probably could is that is that going to be the kind of the kind of guy who's going to accept the fan base. Probably not. But but that'd be in position to do that kind of thing. The question is whether really whether they whether they're able to make the pitch to one of those top guys, I just don't don't see that happening. I really don't. I think they're going to have to look at a secondary star. I think they should have probably made a move this past summer. That would have put him in position to to sign one of these other guys. But but having let that pass I think that in the end you're gonna wind up seeing them get a really a secondary star shawny mentioned, quite Leonard. And the raptors are absolutely rolling where they twenty one and five best record in the NBA. Does he from all indications, and maybe you don't have the answer, Sean. But does he seem happy in Toronto? And what I mean by that is by the day. Do we believe maybe that there is a chance that they keep them there north of the border? Yeah. I mean, you know, I it certainly if you're Toronto you have to feel like you've done everything you possibly could to keep this guy. You know, you've you've you've you certainly roll out the red carpet, you know, the media's pretty funny to him. You know, every everything is pretty much what you would want to see if your messiah Jerry right now. The general manager and in the intro drum started the team president in Toronto, you really wanna see that. And and there's really no reason he shouldn't be happy. The only question is whether all along he's thought that that that he should be in southern California, where it's which swears from in which is where you know, we were told by representatives, and I invite everybody around him for years and years and years now at least for months and months and months that does that he wanted to be. So, you know, it's it's it's a good question. But you know, certainly, I think if you're Toronto you have to feel like you've done everything you can to keep this guy. If in the end, he decides just wants to go home than I I don't think you can blame the Toronto organization because like I said they've done everything they possibly could Sean the Boston Celtics have been a struggling team through the first twenty games. They were what ten and ten. When they put together kind of a little winning streak here. Do you think they've turned the corner from the struggles that they suffered through those first twenty games? No. I don't think so. Played some pretty weak competition. And then maybe that's what they need to do. Maybe they need just beat up on the bad teams that that that might be what what's what what what's best for them right now. But, but no, I still think they have the same issues in that is that that they haven't been able to figure out what the what the hierarchy is, you know, who's going to score who's gonna take what shots when and and I think as long as that continues dog them that's gonna be a problem that that that they're gonna have to deal with so. Certainly, you know at this point in the season. I think everybody could have looked at this team. And where they were and bringing the guys back that they were bringing back and say, you know, they're gonna have some chemistry issues are going to have to figure this out. I don't think anybody would have thought it would take this long. So, you know, it's it's to me it's still an ongoing issue. I don't I don't think they've got it resolved. I think it's been more competition that that that's been the reason that they've been able to you know, sort of turn things around the last few games. But but that's not gonna last. They they really do have some serious questions to answer. Sean Gregg Popovich still the head coach of San Antonio. They have two stars at the Marcus Aldridge. Marta rose Rosen some good role players as well surprised at the struggles of the San Antonio Spurs so far this season. No, I'm not, you know, I mean, there's a couple of things one, you know, they don't have the point guard play that they that they were counting on Monday. Junkie Murray got hurt. And you know, I really think that that did hurt them and Patty mills is it pretty good backup point guard. And they keep them coming off the bench. But yeah, they do they haven't met the same at that position. And and with the offense that Popovich wants to run you really need capable point guard, you really need somebody who's capable of a of setting things up, and and and and running the show. I don't think they have that right now. And and really I mean derozen and and and Aldridge as your two stars. Those are two guys who don't really want to be the star. They they wanna be the second fiddle. They really do. That's that's that's been their history. So I don't know that that that that that's really they're ever going to get over that. So, you know, I think that when you look at that team it's poorly constructed, and and don't see them, you know, really being anything more than a five hundred team for the next the next few years bigger surprise for you early on in the Western Conference, the LA clippers the Denver Nuggets. I'm not surprised to see the nuggets play as well as they have it at all. Gary Harris has been you know, sort of a burgeoning star Jamal Mari. You know, he's been a burgeoning still are we've seen what what yoke can do. So I'm not surprised by them. And all very very surprised to see the with the clippers are right now. You know, they've been committed to this team. I think they like the death of they have with this team. You know, when you look at the, you know, a guy like Montreal Harrow. He's been fantastic. And and and you know, a lot of people didn't expect that they signed him, you know, two years at at twelve million dollars for two years. So that's a fantastic deal that they got with him Tobias Harris has had an all star type year they shop lights out. I I think the Quakers had been a huge huge surprise. I expected that nuggets to be a very good team this year. I don't think anybody expected to see what we've seen from the clippers to this point last question. Sean which team do you feel? In the Eastern Conference is truly the most talented. I think it's the Celtics. I mean as much as their their record would the lie that you know, man, they have so much talent at at so many positions problem right now is probably that they that they have too much talent that that they don't know what their roles are. So, you know, that's that's that's going to be something that they'll have to work out. But, but I still think that it is the Celtics that have the most talent Toronto, I think is is is in terms of the wave that the roster's constructed. They're probably the best team certainly Philadelphia's right there in terms of where they're telling us. But I think Boston just just looking at the talent that they have on that roster. You know, they they've vastly underachieved. And and and you have to think eventually they're going to turn that corner. Yeah. I believe it is. Well, you're right. The great coach great talent at some point you're comfortable playing with each other and the play the level that we kind of expect them to be at the top. The Eastern Conference Sean Devin covering the NBA for new Sean always appreciate the time. Happy holidays to you in the family. Well, thank can. Appreciate it.
