On higher peaks and this lady Sativa. How was your weekend Jeff? You have a good weekend. It was fun. We went to the Turpin Sunday. I fucking ruin my nikes on Sunday. Oh Yeah we also went Gulf on previous to did the Turpin Sunday. We got to golf finally after a couple of months of garbage winter but we had a moat. Is that what you want to call her was that was that like where we walk in through. Swale number five was shitty. Stay the least swamp the the only place that you weren't wet. What is at the whole at the tee off? We should include in fact when we saw like five balls just stuck in the mud in the middle of the fairway. Everybody wants those. I wonder why they left him slung. slunk oh that's why man. But that Turpin Sunday afterwards kind of made up for the day was nice cozy. Good food catered by chef up. Yeah that was a lot of fun. Shift up official. Yeah that's on. I can check them out and apparently they're you know doing the scene around around here Yup and Hi Megan Fi. Hi Megan Pi Phi 503. They run in the show. Afforest Fun basically. Just a big get together. Where all as pie get together in a safe spot? You know. This area doesn't have at home since we're not allowed to have anything around here. Yeah this area around here doesn't really allow much of these social clubs which needs to happen so and so it's just a bunch of friends getting together. Yeah it works though. So let's jump right into the news. We got a good episode coming so I want to get right to it Don't you start us off. I think we only had a couple of things that we just want to bring up real quick just a couple a a review found. That cannabis may offer therapeutic advantages to behavioral symptoms of autism spectrum disorder and fetal alcohol spectrum disorder into the severe nausea and vomiting in the hyper imus's grabbed area which I believe is just overwhelming sickness. That can happen sometimes a Basically I just wanted to say something on that. It just says the increasing medicinal use of cannabis during recent years is largely overlooked children pregnant women basically due to the litigious and and ethical concerns. You know we ran through that. And we've talked about it in previous podcast about being pregnant and using cannabis also being questioned by you know a UH state government. DHS What they're saying here is that they're seeing increasing numbers of children being treated now for these autism spectrum disorder and this fetal alcohol spectrum disorder and it seems to be helping when they look at all these studies? Also that pregnant women treated for this hyper emphasis Apparently is working well too so I really think they need to look more into this. And that's what this is saying here because the stigmatism about women using it while pregnant obviously is unfounded. At this point yeah and trying to figure it out absolutely just on the comedic excited. This is funny Apparently this smoking gun in Colorado. It's a tasting room is opening up. It's going to be the first to have. Hey Replica jail cell. Apparently they're bringing back the nostalgia. The nineties is that the movie the smoking gun no smoking I duNNo. It's a play on words but yeah I imagine it's reference to the smoking because isn't that about a jail to okay. I just thought that was funny. That is pretty funny. I like that all right. Let's go into the episode. I sat down and talked with a gentleman. His name was Juan Martinez. And he's gentleman that's been working in the industry around here here for the last like six years or so. He's been in Hash Rosin making and growing cannabis for a few farms around this area. He had some experience with Peyote and me and you. We don't have experience with that yet. I haven't had the pleasure. No we've been doing are definite Fisher mushrooms and you know we're GonNa start a journey with D.. MTNL's D this whole masculine. which is basically peyote? We haven't tried and it's interesting because is it is one of those things that is you know in the endangered species. It's a very powerful PSYCHEDELIC. It's been used by native Americans at essentially essentially in North America in our area so it kind of concerns this part of the world. So we're in talk about that real quick. I interviewed him and he talked a lot about yet. Some experience experience with native Americans the Sundance and eight days that it takes and what they do and a lot of that like three or four days of that includes peyote use nets so he talks a lot about and it's really interesting now. He also goes into the cannabis use and mushrooms. Now aside from peyote. I'm I'm thinking that cannabis is probably. Are we going to be a good thing to use along with psychedelics. Anyway but me and you do have experience now with cannabis and mushrooms and I prefer it to you. I mean obviously and this is something free. I've had more experience than you so I mean to hear you say that you like right right away is cool. I think for me on the Cup the comedown. It's important like it. Eases you into it. I think cannabis's could for me with everything that could be true to does their breakfast. Yeah the Nice thing though I find is that not only the come up but I use it on the come down because I don't know what you think still but I still get the potential of some things I am GonNa come down and I think that's just partly because I'm coming down and I just need to do something like when we play video games that works equally as great but we are looking at the same time but smoking too and that for me that makes a TV breath. Well it does. I'll tell you this. It doesn't hance the things going on with with the trip can ride the trip longer but for me. It adds a sense of calmness So if I do have some anxiety or if I feel like I'm and even go sideways you know using that is for me is great but like you'd like you just said be careful because it can add to. It had those experiences where I did take like smoke that whole bowl that one time and I said it was just overly enhanced it too much too much so be careful with that. Now peyote we all know peyote it's a small spineless. Cactus course I got the psychoactive alkaloid known as masculine. That's the main Component inside of it. Now it's a Spanish word derived from the the Aztec which means to glisten or glistening. I find that pretty pretty interesting but it can also be translated in other parts of areas as Divine Messenger which again very fitting now. It's native to Mexico and south. West Texas is also found primarily in the chihuahuas desert in the states of Kohia. Nuevo Leon tomorrow. lupus and San Luis Potosi Amongst Grub. I guess now I probably just raped all those places so frame using. Do you want to see him now. Nonetheless basically basically North America is what we're talking about it flowers from March to May and sometimes as late as September. The flowers are pink. With with a tactic enters. And using it psychoactive properties these indigenous North Americans ingested in ritualistic and medicinal ways. Both the cactus produces flowers the sporadically there followed by small edible pink fruit the club shaped to elongated fleshy Ashi fruits are bare and more or less rosy colored at maturity they are brownish white and dry the fruits do not burst open on their own and they are between one point point five and two centimeters long they contain black pear shape seeds. That are one to one point five millimeters long and one millimeter wide. The the seeds require hot and humid conditions to germinate paddock contains a large spectrum of Netflix. Mean alkaloids the principal one is Mescaline coline the mescaline. I wish I had some experience with this. I don't know it's easy to get without having peyote. I know that they make right exactly or extracted. I imagined again I have you ever ever in your life like how anybody anybody likes. Hey I got some peyote non had people say they had mescaline the OH. Yeah okay interesting. I've heard that but it's job on that next time. We'll now that I know but I don't I know if it gives you the same effects because I think that that's awesome It was a different type of medicinal. Yeah and and not knowing much imagine they have synthetic too. I think so. And it's probably it doesn't going to do the same thing to you but it probably into small effect for you. Sure the main problem with Peyote is. It's extremely slow. Growing although cultivated specimens grow considerably sibley faster sometimes taking less than three years to go from seedling to mature flowering adult more rapid growth can be achieved by grafting peyote on mature San Pedro Rootstock. Doc and I even know. San Pedro goes slow but apparently not quite as slow as is Peyote as the biggest issue win Wii on endangered right. The top of the above ground part of the CACTUS. The crown consists of the disc shaped buttons. These are cut above the roots and sometimes sometimes dried when done properly. The top of the above ground part of the CACTUS. The crown consists of the disc shaped buttons. These are cut above the roots and sometimes dried when done properly. The top of the route forms of callous and the route does not rot win. Poor harvesting techniques are used however the entire plant dies. And I guess that's would be the inherent problem Between the slow growth. And the fact that it's so if it's poorly harvested and if you don't know what the fuck you're doing people are just off the way to make sense of why it's going out of you know it's endangered injured So currently in south Texas peyote grows naturally but has been overharvested to the point that the state has listed as an endangered species now. The buttons are generally chewed boiled in water to produce a psychoactive. T- peyote is extremely bitter and most people are nauseated. Before they fill the onset the psychoactive effects. I've heard that the nausea actually kicks in the psychoactive effects so much like Ohio. WASCO apparently MHM when used for its psychoactive properties common doses for pure masculine range. Roughly two hundred four hundred milligrams this translates to a dose this of roughly ten to twenty grams of dried peyote buttons of average potency. Keeping in mind that you know the unless you extracted. There's no way to tell you know like like mushrooms. Even you know you really don't know how potent they are exactly. It'd be nice if these testing labs would. Hey Hey we got suicide and testing right. We have mescaline testing the effects last about ten to twelve hours much like LSD and Peyote is reported to trigger rich visual auditory effects against summer LSD. To where things crossover you might taste colors or you. Don't feel music right that kind of thing. So in addition to psychoactive use some native American tribes use the plant in the belief it may have curative have properties they employ peyote treats such varied ailments as toothache pain in childbirth fever. Breast pain skin diseases rheumatism. tatum diabetes colds and blindness. Which I think is pretty cool You know if it really works for all that it'd be nice to have some that available right and I wonder how they use you. Think they'd just rub it on their teeth. And now I don't know either like maybe a paste. I know they can make out of it anyway. As far as it's history in two thousand five researchers used radiocarbon dating and alkaloid alkaloid analysis to study to specimens of peyote buttons. They found in archaeological digs from site called shallow cave on the Rio Grande and in Texas the results dated the specimens to between I believe thirty seven eighty and thirty six sixty. VCE alkaloid extraction action yielded approximately two percent of the alkaloids including mescaline and both samples. I wonder if they took those. This indicates that native North Americans were likely to have used peyote kayode since at least five and a half thousand years ago. It's quite a long time. Yeah it is from earliest recorded. Time Peyote has been used by indigenous business. People of north of Mexico and by various native American tribes its usage was also recorded among various southwestern Athabasca in language guage tribal groups the tongue. Halwa the Mescalero. The leap and Apache were the sources of the first practitioners of peyote religion engine in the regions north of Present Day Mexico. Isla probably murdered those Now with Peyote you know just to cover this real quick any adverse I reactions. There was actually a study published in two thousand seven found no evidence of long-term cognitive problems related to it and this was used in native American Church ceremonies these But researchers stress the results may not apply to those who use peyote and other contexts. That means that mean you're going to damage your brain if you use it. Recreationally originally a four year large scale study of Navajo who regularly ingested peyote found. Only one case where payday was associated with psychotic break in an otherwise I self person other psychotic episodes were attributed to peyote use in conjunction with pre-existing substance abuse or mental health problems. Now we're seeing that with fight cannabis and other things where these psychoactive drugs can trigger these psychosis but usually people that are already susceptible. So I don't think that's anything unusual. I think we're going to. I think that can be that can happen to anybody with anything just cannot they just don't need not you certain things. Yeah for sure for sure now. Later research found that those with pre existing mental health issues are more likely to have adverse reactions to the peyote in which we were just saying. So I don't think that's a surprise at all. Make note of these two specifics. One that Peyote can have strong medic affects effects and one death has been attributed to Asaf.
