Locations should give a preferential treatment to the people from the S. C. manic people from Saito three you know what I'm sorry that may come up as a thing but we will dive into that right now unless you really want to let me go to this mask shaming America's secret silent shame mask shaming it's America's new favorite pastime during the Copa nineteen including people right here in Charlotte in a debate is divisive in some presidential elections wearing a mask or not wearing has become a dividing force amid the cold at nineteen pandemic in Charlotte people on both sides are doubling down summer even resorting to public shaming we've all seen the post mocking those who wear masks to shaming those who don't the Charlotte observer recently set how to question about whether or not charlatans wear the masks they went to seventy five different stores and they found that it was a mixed bag recent poll conducted by the Associated Press norc center for public affairs research found that seventy six percent of Democrats wear masks when they're leaving home only fifty nine percent of Republicans said the same but the party lines aren't the only factor playing a role in the decision to wear a mask no no nee nee she's a gender and race are also influencing the people's decisions first the rules you know the CDC recommends the use of masks in public settings we're social distancing is not possible Mecklenburg County following the same recommendations encouraging retailers to turn away customers not wearing masks despite the recommendations so a recent study by Middlesex university London said the mathematical science research institute in Berkeley California we have a whole lot that's a long way to go you could have just gone with the mathematical science research institute in Berkeley but okay the observer reports that a recent study by Middlesex university in London and the mathematical science research institute in Berkeley California found men are less likely to work than women to wear face coverings in countries where face masks are not mandatory because of fears about being perceived as weak on cool and shaded and in fact even Ryan McGee he's a ESPN senior writer is based here in Charlotte he's close to the show Marty McGee experienced shaming first hand on two separate occasions one of the outset and another one about a week ago in the first instance McGee was one of six patrons picking up food at a local restaurant all of the patrons were masked McGee was wearing a homemade mask that is wife and daughter had put together using pillow cases and hair ties when on masked man entered the restaurant he walked up to McGee pointed a finger in his face and said what a pretty mask use history what does anybody use that word does any hold on a minute I don't want to do I got no reason to doubt the story sissy is kind of a I don't know the people you sissy anymore I'm not heard since the in a very long time I mean I bye bye long time I mean like maybe the late seventies early eighties McGee said there's a sense of camaraderie among the masked guests that everyone was in this together and willing to sacrifice for the greater good but the mood seems to have shifted in the last two months becoming more divisive hello the mood is shifting in the last two months it's not becoming more divisive people are frustrated with the clamp down that's what it is they don't want to be on week eight nine ten and eleven you're practically all football season ended this lockdown you're definitely you're definitely almost at the break point where you're not gonna make the playoffs because were eight nine weeks and you you are you may be you may be six into for you maybe an eight I mean this is the point at which you're just not gonna make the playoffs you got no shot at the wild card the mood seems to shift in the last two months it's becoming more divisive during the second encounter make he exited his truck and began putting on his wife and daughters homemade work and was once again the target of a Shamar calling him by name presumably recognizing him from this his taunt to yelled snowflake and sheep at the broadcaster median return took the high road and thank the man for watching a show no one else was wearing a mask yet it that may have just been a guy giving you grief because people know who you are now what about the polarization of all this when race plays a role the small hidden fear of being masked while black that's that's the sub head in this article the choice between whether or not to wear a mask is also being impacted by racial prejudice unfortunately being safe and attempting to remain healthy for some of us in the African American community has different complexities within some that's that was according to Nikita Blakeney Williams a cancer survivor with a nursing background politely Williams takes extra precautions wearing a mask in trying to avoid crowds her daughters and youngest sons follow suit but three older sons and husband do not the older boys don't wear masks when they go out because of their image and their desire to avoid unnecessary confrontations my husband chooses not to wear a mask because he takes increased power precautions being sanitary and sanitizing things he's a healthy guy conscious of his environment however I can't help but wonder if he too shares a small hidden fear being masked wall black and the possible negative outcome that can accompany well I can't I can't speak to that because I'm not I'm not somebody who is black or African American I I imagine if it was just a small group of people wearing masks regardless of your skin color or background I would imagine that would draw attention if somebody walks down the street wearing a ski mask and we're not in a pandemic guy walks into a bank in a ski mask or pantyhose mask or whatever it is okay that's kind of very specific connotation walking or bank regardless of of who you are if somebody goes walking down the street in a ski mask and they've got a baseball bat and a clearly part of anti fox that's a whole nother sort of thing but I've been in lots of public locations in the last you know seven eight weeks I've flown on aircraft I've been in airports I have been right right here at home I have been in South Carolina North Carolina I've been all over the place and I don't give it really is a second look I would say this I would say if there's any tension about the mask people it's the people that don't wear the masks are looked down upon by the people that do wear the masks and as as as Marty points out in that in that comment in that article it's also the quality of your mask because I'm watching people who actually are matching their masks to their attire I saw a guy with Burgundy with a Burgundy mask and Burgundy shoes I think the mascara glitter on it as well I think it was like a glittery like a block of the jewels like a virtual thing that he was wearing and it's become really like a fashion accessory I saw somebody in the day jeweled mask pocket square matching socks same color shoes and I said you're very stylish Mr Clooney seven oh four five seven zero eleven it wasn't really George Clooney frankly you don't know him it's a great wonderful Shutterstock Levin ten ninety nine three WBT let us know what.
