12 shot in 24 hours as spike in gun violence in New York City continues


Gun violence skyrocketing in the city with two more people dead and another seventeen hurt after twelve more shootings in less than a fourteen hour span the violence flaring between eleven PM last night and one PM today all part of a disturbing climbing gunfire over the past several weeks to levels not seen since the nineteen nineties the NYPD said shootings are up four hundred percent in June compared to June of last year the spike coincides with the disbanding nearly two weeks ago of the six hundred member under cover any crime unit as part of police reform being pushed by mayor de Blasio and governor Cuomo in response to the George Floyd protests earlier this week there were eight people shot in a twenty four hour period including a seven year old girl in Manhattan a sixteen year old boy has been arrested in that shooting
