"Operation ice, arrested one hundred fifty individuals across southern California ninety percent of whom had criminal convictions. The arrestees include a man from Mexico convicted of attempted murder and a woman from Mexico with seven DUI charges in just over three years. Thomas Giles with ice says some of those detained had violated federal immigration laws people that have been previously deported. Andy legally reentered the country. He says a good number of them had immigration holds. But they were released from mobile custody. We had a large portion of them that went back out in reoffended again LA county sheriff Jim McDonald says state law governs their interaction with ice has access to our jails in a limited way for those convicted and convicted only of the crimes laid out in that state law. Some of those arrested have already been deported while others remain in federal custody"
