California - MTC releases plan to distribute $780M in federal funds to transit agencies


The agency overseeing transportation funding in the bay area has given the go ahead to distribute nearly eight hundred million dollars in emergency aid to the region's transit operators KQED stand breaking reports the metropolitan transportation commission approved a plan to split federal coronavirus relief money among barred muny AC transit and twenty one other agencies those funds will help the systems deal with immediate financial needs with ridership and fare revenue vanishing during the pandemic the MTC still has another five hundred twenty million dollars in emergency aid to hand out that will happen this summer but only after a panel of MPC members transportation providers and bus and rail advocates works out a formula to prioritize support for agencies that serve the region's most transit dependent
