Chauvin to Be Arraigned for Alleged Civil Rights Violation


The former Minneapolis police officer convicted in the murder of George Floyd is scheduled to be arraigned today on another indictment involving a teenage boy Derek Sherman was convicted and sentenced earlier this year on state charges in Minnesota of murder in the death of George Floyd in police custody he was also charged this week in federal court with violating Floyd civil rights is scheduled to be arraigned today on yet another charge an indictment alleges he deprived a fourteen year old black teenager of his rights in twenty seventeen when he held the boy down by the throat hit him in the head with a flashlight and held his knee on the boy's neck and upper back while he was prone handcuffed and not resisting in a police report showing described the teen as six foot two and two hundred forty pounds and wrote that he used body weight to pin him when the teen resisted arrest prosecutors cited the encounter as one of seven times dating back to twenty fourteen the children used upper body restraints it leisurely beyond the point with such force was needed before Floyd's death I'm Jennifer king
