Listen: Keith Houser, Officer And Dougherty Ferry discussed on Overnight America
"Exit at Dougherty ferry came back to seventy then exited at Manchester police say the suspects hit several cars your deal all caught on camera. Marito automotive Skype is I like that they got the sponsor name in there. I'm sure bomber Rita. Love to get in their name in on that anywhere. You can get it man fit it in on not knocking. I'm just saying I noticed that. I know what you're doing there. So you watch the video on this FOX to article museum up there in their helicopter in this car is making some pretty tight tight maneuvers inside a traffic, which is already packed onto seven. We're heading back to two seventy guys. Southbound one of those drivers in the middle of the mess was the pair resident Keith Houser. He's driving the black pickup truck that's blocking the suspect's Ford. Focus as is is is that doogie son Houser is. That doogie howser son. I learned later on she's exaggerating our traffic all throughout the greater Saint Louis area. Now, I can I just say something I was not expecting the driver to be a woman normally with these high speed chases. It's always a guy. That's just a general observation have never you. Don't see high speed chases zigging through traffic zagging and doing all of these. And it's a woman that pops out. Honestly, I'm just saying I see a lot of these chases. That's a first for me out west. The potential for hitting Simone and causing major accident is pretty high Houser should know he provides police trading through the patriot trading foundation. He founded I heard the car impacts to others behind me. And so I just turned over little bit kind of block them stop them from a little bit. Once I did a law enforcement took over and like always said stops him. But it was you know, to females in the car, whatever it was they said would you have done that? Would you have used your car? Do you love your car so much that you're thinking yourself? I'm getting out of the way, I'm outta here. A weight on the side of the road and try to merge for three hours before I can let someone hit my car some crazy person trying to evade police three one four four three six seventy nine hundred or eight hundred nine to five eleven twenty. I would think insurance would cover it. Oh, yeah. My car, I wouldn't care wall. Okay. So you're saying that what if an insurance agent looks at it as in. Hey, you purposely caused this accident because you got in the way of this other car. Now, I think if there's a crime that was committed the person is liable. If it's if it's in the middle of a crime that really they have no grounds to say you the one that caused the accident. It's kinda like when you're at your you've heard of these stories where people take hostages in police accidentally shoot someone as they're trying to stop a suspect who has a weapon drawn and someone just accidentally gets caught in the crossfire. The police officer is not held liable for trying to stop someone that's out there. Trying to cause bodily harm as sad as it is no one wants that situation. Obviously officer will have to live for the rest of their life. Knowing the mistake they made, but they're doing it in and try to disarm someone. You know, you hear about these things like the hostages and by the police officers, and I know my I think the same thing would happen. If you're in a car and someone's coming through the highway or whatever and you get in the way of someone that's following away in a chase. And you get ahead. You know, they're not going to cite you for a legal lane violations or something. It's the person that's evading police that's at fault there. I think that's the way to do it. The two suspects were taken into custody. Police say it all started at mid rivers mall, where officers made the traffic stop for careless and imprudent driving and improper vehicle registration Houser says he does not advise the average person to try and block a car trying to escape bullies. The I'm not the average person. I as superhero. Yeah. Then I get out there and slammed up say goodbye to your car. But you know, what it might be a blessing in disguise when you drive a car guy. Do most people got out of the way like they should I guess with my familiarity with that type of situation I felt pretty comfortable trying to do something about it. But make for great story, wouldn't it? Hey, remember that one time your dad stopped the police chase began to tell that everything's giving in every time. My wife would roll their eyes as a over exaggerate there. I was right there on the highway. Oh, things were getting crazy. And I looked in my rear view mirror cars, just plowing left. And right. It was like the person was a freight train going left, and right and left and right now be like dad, that's not how it happened, and I'll just their assert. Yes. It is there only one person to stop. It's super dad, and that was me. Then every year it gets a little bit more exaggerated until the very end. It was me stepping out of my car. Putting my hand up to stop the person in. It comes to a screeching halt, right one degree hits my wedding ring. That's where the story would go while tweeting a video about it. Yeah. Let me get to Bill in Arnold. Hey, bill. What's going on? Hey, I think I would try and intervene squeeze them. All. If it was just me and the car, I had my wife or my grandkids or. Car than somebody who else would have to do it. But I have never actually been in that situation happened out on the highways. I do a lot of driving or my work when there have been chases, and I've kind of looked out Orman. You know what I do? Now, you just change the whole thing you're in a company vehicle in this scenario, then you don't care. Vehicle. Among the job. And I'm getting paid mileage, but I'm in my it's easier vehicle, probably like yours. It's got a rear view mirror. That's kind of hanging in there and dents."
