Listen: John Kuhn, Saints And Packers discussed on Checkpoint Radio
"Falcons Packers this Sunday. These are two teams that when you look at it. It's what could have been two teams that had Super Bowl aspirations before the year started the falcons have been struggling big time. And so of the Packers John. Yeah. You know, it's gonna be interesting because you talk about teams with some high powered offenses. And yet he wanted them have produced kind of the way that you would expect either one of them to do. So it's gonna be cold this Sunday. So it's gonna be interesting game falcons defense has been struggling a little bit. I mean, they lost their key components earlier in the season with kneeling and the middle. Linebacker. And so I think the the Packers will have a chance to exploit some of that it's gonna be a fun game to see how coach Philbin 'cause I I got a good rapport with Joe as well. And I I know he's gonna wanna leave this honor coach Mike and try let them finish the season the right way. Do you think Joe would be a good fit as the next head coach or not so much? Yeah. Joe I felt like Joe had a bad beat down in Miami with the with the bullying scandal that was an unfortunate situation for him. I don't think that in any way signifies the character and the type of leader that he is. So as far as Xs and os gore the offense had never been better than they weren't twenty eleven when he was offensive coordinator. And finally before we let John Kuhn rod. I just want to take you through your journey shippensburg undrafted end up winning two rings and also going for a few pro balls just when you look back at the journey for John Kuhn, and what it was like playing in the National Football League. What are the memories that come to mind when reminisce I think about the three story franchises that? I've been a part of the whole theme quarterbacks and the three possible to probable hall of fame coaches that I played for the ten playoff teams out of thirteen seasons. And it all really boils down to teammates. In the locker room is and how much each care about each other. And I would have left because there are some guys that play for a long time don't see the play offs or don't see a Super Bowl. And I was lucky enough to see all of that and credit goes to my teammates because we were able to have a tight knit locker room and pull pull loft at technologic- people. Do I'll be curious to with the other two teams that you played for the saints are having a heck of the they had a tough loss in the Cowboys last Thursday night in the Steelers, it's been a whole lot of drama with Pittsburgh. But they're still in this chase. How about these two teams in the saints to the Steelers, and how you view them right now. You know, it's funny. I'll start with the Steelers a couple of weeks ago. You looked at Delmonico's man, they could really make a run here. This this with the patriots down the stretch is set up to be for a first round. Bye, possibly the number one seed, and and unfortunately, they left a couple of slip out of their grasp in the last year. So now, they're in a dog fight just for the division with the ravens charging here. I suspect they'll pull this off and win the division. Get a first round home game got home field of. Vantage is really going to hurt them to travel in that second round probably to New England. When I look at the saints. I of feel like the Dallas game could end up being a good thing. If the Rams can find a way to lose a game and the saints can get back tied. They hold that tiebreaker. If anybody wants to come down in the dome and test them to the playoffs, you know, good luck to them because that's that's going to be almost an impossible. Ran the saints right now, they're they're real enough that that lost to Dallas. But I know Sean, and he he's gonna get them. Right. He he's going to see what they didn't do right at Dallas game. And he's going to make sure that doesn't happen. And they're not going to lose a whole lot of football games. We know that. So it's better to get one out in the regular season compared to the postseason before we let John Kuhn run, though, as I said in the open, my favorite part of really when I recognize you as a football player is when you hear the fans chance your last name, and the entire stadium would be chanting it when did when did the John Kuhn chance start for you? That started midway through our Super Bowl year. You're a lot of halfbacks had gotten hurt. So I had to place third down back. I had to play some regular first second baron half back. So I got a lot of touches fullback. Not everybody. Everybody in Green Bay knows their team. They they knew the full fifty three man roster. And I I don't know whether they were surprised that a fullback touching the ball. Or if they were happy with the production that I had or if I just had the easiest last name ever to say, but they they really adhere to to be in support for me. And I I was thankful for that. We we went on a heck of a ride for a few years and had a lot of fun. John great to catch up with you. We appreciate the time. Thanks so much for the insight. Thank you. Appreciate John Kuhn joining us right."
