is. One. No sites that I think you truly yet each song I, you know, I I call my stuff cinematic American. I know it sounds get a hope everyone tries to All you, but I think each song does lends itself to little mini movie or something. You don't have had a couple of songs in movies. Uh, I've been fortunate and uh, you know, when I do write a song, I don't think is it's right for a movie It just maybe because I'm a writer any way. Next, You know, writings are always been one of my other occupations. I look at it And again, the town the catch to your in Hollywood thinks it's together, can they be can be a little narrative on their own? But the song fly was certainly born in that world. I've been hiking with my wife upstate New York near Lake Placid. And, uh, it, you know, it's one of the undiscovered joys, I think for a tight New Yorkers who may be overweight or to the Hamptons, or you know, fly off to This exotic locations that exotic location. But, uh, the Adirondacks Park is the largest State Park in America. Which is Tomase extraordinaire the largest State Park in America? The most acreage Man, The the topography is magnificent. So we're hiking one day. Uh, you know, we're Upstate just the two of us. The kids are way. And uh, we hike this this uh summit. You know, it's not like hiking. You know in the Andes award, the Himalayan, but it was good, robust hike. And I got to the top and it was incredibly windy and my wife is freaking out. Don't get too close, and I look up and there's a Crowe just gliding around gliding around me. And it was. And it was it was. It was crowing at me, uh, bleating at me, uh. Bleeding at me rather, And I thought this is exceptional. I never heard of style climate bird-like. Within your rate saw There's a song in here somewhere in on this whole thing about flying and and being elevated. And you know, you're s- your spirit's soaring. And when I got back to New York has started working on the malady and and it was very upbeat. You know, I kind of I am not ashamed to say it was baby loosely, build a of John Cougar Mellencamp to some of these routes your stuff Jackie in Diane or one of those you know, poppy your tracks by in the head That would see folk rock thing. And the next day as I started working on the song, There was a horrific article with the New York Post about a young woman who had taken her life. And it was a cover story and I thought, Wow, How is it that some people sore and other people are so despondent and so depressed that their life is anything but a sore towards, Um. The exalted the holiness of likes, Uh, they end their life, They, they feel so trapped. And that made this song come alive for me. And that duality of the song in the purpose, the song became kind of my, um, by rally. And in doing so. I started to contemplate, uh, what depression is with suicide means how people, how we stick stigmatize them and how we are afraid to talk about them and made me exam in my own life in my own battle with depression in my own family's depression. So I started working on the song, I finish this song And it's not, but maybe two months later, the my younger brother bio only sick like it involved in the horrific. Motorcycle accident in Ohio. And uh, he ends up dying seven weeks later after the Qom crime while that were once. Sorry. Yeah. So this song became a whole different animal. And I on your way out my own brothers struggles and he battled Bill other demon students likes. And, you know, it was a horrific axes. Like, you know what, what that struggle must have been like until we could finally look, good Lord. Finally Tokyo and he was able to soar, You know, it's all the Angels. Well, yeah, that's wrong then became, You know, one of the centerpiece Craxi director and uh, the next thing that happened was pretty remarkable met a woman who directs virtual reality videos. And she said, this would be an interesting virtual reality Video. We should we should produce it, but who are how much is that gonna cost? virtual reality is this very intense, new immersive medium. And I'm very much interested in in in producing content in it. Uh, the last couple of years been at a rooting around in that. So we just say we were going to start our own uh, fund not for profit dip this thing funded. And we're currently raising funds to produce a fly VR video. Offer Suicide Awareness in fighting crashing in, you know, anyone can make it a legit. It's a legit tax. Deductible donation we have a website that we set up called Silence is not golden Dot and. Y C Silence is not golden DOT NYC. We've already started getting money and then we're getting ready to launch an Indy Goco campaign in the next couple of weeks. So the timing of this interview is, is you know, like I couldn't take you now flew because you know I think we need to use as artists. We need to use any device. We can't reach Right to kind of social awareness, I think music does that really, really well. And something like Suicide Awareness, depression, cuts across party lines, You know, you don't have to get political. Uh, I'm sure there are people who we know during the holidays what that means. You know, we thought about maybe doing it around the holiday without that's gotta get uh, holiday just do it. The song obviously is incredibly cathartic for me on so many levels. And um. Um yeah. So in some ways it's the centerpiece for the, for the album. Well, why we're talking to my son and he never yet. Yet we got everybody cited. He has only knows gonna need, There's gonna be you guys are gonna do with a, um, uh, uh, video, Um, virtual reality video. So well let's share the song And then I wanna come back and I want to talk about because you've done so many other things. I want to try to crowbar in a few more of your uh, amazing. Uh, uh conflict Schmidt So we'll give them right back this. It's Guys check this out of this and this is this is just some beautiful stuff. This is uh, called fly. Uh, from a dusty s- a new record, uh, caterwauling towards the light, Uh, fly unglues Guinea rock and roll circus.
