NYPD has announced it's citywide crime stats for August, and shootings are up dramatically. NYPD reporting 166% increase in the number of shooting incidents across the city at 242 versus 91 a year ago with shootings up in all boroughs except Staten Island, the number of people murdered across the city also up 47% for August NYPD he is reporting their efforts to address the surging violence include shifting officers to areas experiencing upticks.
