Listen: Trump Organization, Michael Cohen And President Trump discussed on Gary and Shannon
"Politics and people surrounding the orbit that is President Trump. Aaron Katersky is covering all of it for us and joins us now. Erin. Michael Cohen was active this morning in court filing, a lawsuit trying to get some money from the Trump organization. He fought a lawsuit against the Trump organization saying that he is owed about two million dollars that the Trump organization was supposed to pay him for his legal defense. But never did. And they also made a play to get the Trump organization to pay the fines that he incurred after he pleaded guilty to several federal charges, and he said, it was all part of a an indemnification agreement a joint defense agreement that he was part of the time. And so before he heads off to prison. I think you'd like this this resolved. Now does he write up this contract? Or is that like a conflict of interest in another lawyer would write up the contract between Cohen and the Trump organization. I don't know the any indemnification agreement was not attached to the lawsuit. So I didn't get a look at it. But I would imagine that his hired attorneys. Grew it up because that's how he was paying them in for a while. The Trump organization actually paid. And and it was only in June of twenty eighteen two months after the raid on his hotel where he'd been staying as apartment his his office. That's when the Trump organization, he says stopped paying his his legal bills. Aaron it's Wayne high is that does that timeframe track at all with when it became obvious that he was cooperating with prosecutors. Sure does. And I think that that's probably you know, we know that Michael Cohen was that first part of the joint defense agreement and then not and he started to as he would later put it come clean and tell the truth about his relationship with Donald Trump and very quickly. He ended up hiring guy Patillo who was a former prosecutor in the southern district of New York that is the moment where it became clear. He was going to fight this and. And and go out on his own and leave whatever joint defense agreement. He had we know that before that happened that demarcation point happen. Cohen had asked his attorney to reach out to Rudy Giuliani and see if there was any pardon in it forum and intact the conversation went both ways when when he started to consider leaving the joint defense agreement."
