Listen: Venezuela, Iraq And United States discussed on Joe Walsh
"Suffering. An opposition leader who the United States and much of the rest of the democratic world supports most of the world that believes in. Freedom and human rights would love to see Maduro the dictator run out of dodge run out of Venezuela. And there's no doubt that the United States along with some of our allies in the hemisphere. We're trying to do whatever we can to make that happen. And I've been thinking about this issue in Venezuela. And and what our role is in the world. Look, I'm not I'm not one of these Neo conned guys. Bill Kristol and all the rest. I'm not one of these Neo kind guys. John McCain, Lindsey Graham, these people who believe. It's the job. It is the job of the United States of America to remake the world in its And so these people who believe that we should remake the world in the image of the United States of America. They are never hesitant. To use America's military to use American force to quite literally try to change the world invade Iraq try to make a rock Turner rock excuse me, or. Yeah. Rock into into a democracy. The situation down in Venezuela. I want Venezuela to be a democracy. I don't want it to be a socialist dictator ship. But I don't think it's the place of the United States to by force make that happen. I don't think that's our job. That's our role. I think and I've often thought if I were president what would my foreign policy be? It's it's pretty much just lead, by example. Walk softly and carry a big stick. Let let the whole world know make it clear as much as we have to. That we are the biggest and the baddest in the world. We got the biggest baddest military in the world. Now, the whole world should know that. The whole world should understand that. And the whole world should fear that. But but I don't wanna use that military unless we absolutely have to. Venezuela Iraq, Iran, North Korea. Whoever the hell it is. I want them to believe and know and understand that that we do have a military and a defense that they don't have and our military and our defense could blow them to kingdom come at the snap of my fingers. And we will do that only if we have to we'll do that. If you mess with us other than that. We want you to be a democracy. We want you to be a free country. We want you or your people to be free. We will encourage your people to be free. But we're not going to go into your country. And quite literally tried to turn you into a democracy. We're not gonna go into your country. And quite literally tell you who your leader should be. Now that would be my foreign policy. Some people call that up. They call me a non interventionist, they call me an isolationist. They call me nationalist. I I don't know. Necessarily if any of that's true. I'm not a Neo con. I'm not an interventionist. I don't think it's our job to be the world's policeman. I don't think it's our job to nation Bill. History will look upon the invasion of Iraq. As a big big big big costly mistake. And here we sit so many years later living with the consequences of that mistake. And I thought at the time and I've thought every day since. You can't we can't. We can't force a nation to be like us. They have to. They have to want to be like us. Lead. By example, they have to decide and their own that they're going to be like us. They have to decide on their own that they're going to be an open free, tolerant democracy. They have to decide on their own that they will secularize that they will separate nation and church. But they've got to make that decision. And they've got to make that happen. Look all these years later. We're seeing this play out in Iraq. Iraq's only going to be a thriving democracy. One day if the people of Iraq make it happen. We could go down in Venezuela right now. With our military right now. And get rid of that remove that socialistic tater now Venezuela. They got a mighty powerful military nowhere near ours. But there would be some fighting. But we we have the capability to do that we have the capability to bring regime change to Venezuela. I don't doubt that. And nobody listening to me right now should doubt that. But that's not our job. That's not a role and by the way, it's not right. Who are we? It's not right. Who are we to tell a rock or Venezuela? Or any country on the planet who their leadership should be what sort of country, they should have. If they wanna ask us. We'll tell them if they want help if they want consultation if they wanted vice. Were there for that? All day and all night. But I know I've we've got. Right now, people who believe and people around Donald Trump who believe I don't think this is Trump's got, but John Bolton and others who believe in this regime change model who I believe would like us to quite literally get rid of Madero and put in place, a new leader. It will be a constant tension. Even in the Trump administration because that's that where Trump's at that sat were his heads at eight five five six four to fifty six hundred"
