Listen: New England Patriots, CBS And AFC discussed on The M Zone
"I'm done ripping the SEC and the power five literati. Let's call them the whole, well, we're gonna look down upon you rubes and pleads in the other collegiate conferences and all of you fans Morphing like Joe bottom tooth from family guy. It has to be like Jill bottom to the southern drawl for the SEC. And and that whole crew. In the National Football League. We're three quarters of the way through the season. And as I mentioned earlier today here on the gresh show on CBS sports radio in the AFC. It's a lot of the usual suspects. Patriots Steelers Texans chiefs chargers. And then after that you can have your pick your pick your poison or pick your team. The dolphins are in the mix. The ravens are in there as well. Get the titans the colts, even the Broncos. They're six and six they're kinda hanging around as well. And in the NFC. It's a little bit of a different kind of mess. You have the Rams and the saints and then for my money you just lump everybody else together. Now, I know in Chicago or across the country bears fans are not going to be happy that I'm not digging their team right now. But at eight and four and maybe it's because when I saw them against the New England Patriots. I saw a team that was mature. Well, oiled ready to handle their business. And I'm talking about the patriots, by the way. Who went in and just sort of like, you know, said to Chicago. Okay. You're a nice little upstart. But we know what we're doing. You guys are eventually on your way. If I asked you right now America at eight five five two one two four CBS. In your mind legitimately. How many teams can win a Super Bowl right now. We have a lot of results in were three quarters of the way through the season. How many teams right now? Do you think our world championship worthy? Hell if we tried to ill. It's really funny about it. And I just did this just hit me if I asked you who will be the representatives in the conference championship games. Do you know what we have? We would essentially have the college football playoff. And it's the whole. Oh, why would I say that? Well, because are there any two teams in the NFC you would pick other than the saints in the Rams? I wouldn't I wouldn't even think twice about it. If I said who's the NFC championship game? Who's in the NFC championship game at saints and Rams and in the AFC? Are you picking against the patriots not being there because I sure as hell am not. And you may think I'm biased or whatnot. But I don't know. I have a half decade run of them being in that game to back me up or for you to try to, you know, find ways to chop down a knockdown them being there. Would you say it's a lock that the chiefs are in. I mean the way the playoffs would go right now. If we were to if we were to set this up right now in terms of I don't know if playoff picture hero. So right now, you're wildcard matchup in the AFC. Would be the ravens at the Texans. And the chargers at the Steelers with the chief says the number one seed in the patriots as the number to see. So in theory, you could end up with either Pittsburgh or LA going into Kansas City. And and honestly, I think it would just be. I think it would be the chargers and the chiefs in the divisional round. And then it would be the patriots probably taken on the Texans come on. Now. One of the Texans ever won anything big. And I know they're on a nine game win streak, and I am a fan of Bill Brian. I'm fans of people that are in that building. But in the words of Dave Chapelle on Chapelle show, be real. Yeah. Be real son be real real. Is anybody thinking that the Texans are going to beat the patriots and a critical situation? Again, if you do grab the line. I want to hear the talk about it. Eight five five two one two four two two seven eight five five two one two four CBS. And let's say the five and the six seeds both win. Now. That's a little different. Then you got the chargers going into New England. And you have Baltimore going into Kansas City. That's a little different. That's a much tougher matchup for the New England Patriots. I guess you could that could happen. But right now the first weekend of the NFC playoffs would be the bears hosting the Vikings and the Cowboys host and the Seahawks, man. There ain't a one of those teams that you could pick to win the Super Bowl. Not a one of those four bears. Cowboys seahawks. Vikings not a one. And they're going to go in and beat the Rams of the saints and the next weekend. I'm not seeing it. Now, maybe you are date five five two one two four CBS. Maybe I'm missing something. I think it terms of some postseason awards unless something crazy happens. It's kind of fade accompli. I think the Pat Mahomes is going to win the MVP unless either drew Brees has an unbelievable final four weeks or someone like a Todd Gurley goes off. I think we know who the NFL MVP is going to be. But he is that like, but is that a is that an award given to a player that guarantees some sort of playoff success? Absolutely not. Now, there's a couple of different ways that I will talk about the NFL here on the gresh show on CBS sports radio. We can get to who. Do you think are in those conference championship games? So I welcome that discussion. But also your individual teams that you root for for example, where a gentleman call earlier here on the gresh show on CBS sports radio who wanted a breakdown of the dolphins. And I did the best I could because they didn't really get into that whole draft history. But in terms of the coach and the quarterback Comboni's some of the pieces, you know, the dolphins have to find a way to break through in the middle ground. But if I were to just give you a quick synopsis of every team is quickly as I could. Then what you reacting off of that. And I'm sure I'm going to mention your team wherever you are across the country that you wanna talk about. So the Buffalo Bills, I still think they're dysfunctional. And there are a mess young quarterback. But is that young quarterback the guy to kind of lead them away from their woes? And I love God. God, I love bills fans. I love him. They fall into the same traps every time, but the bills went back to being the bills right now. The jets have a big situation on their hands because they have to figure out who their next quarterback is or who their next coach is going to be because they've got the quarterback and folks in the AFC east what Tom Brady finally steps away. Sam darnold will be the best quarterback in that division. I mentioned a little bit about the Steelers and the ravens their playoff teams, you can get into them a little differently, but the Bengals when are they going to make a move at head coach. We went eighty eighty-three-year-old Mike Brown gonna wake up and say I got to do something to jump start. This franchise the Cleveland Browns. Everybody says is an attractive opening. I think you have to have the right coach and personality and there'd be able to deal Baker Mayfield. But I liked the way the Browns are trending then you have the Tennessee titans. Titans and end up in the AFC championship game. I don't even know if they're gonna make the playoffs, but they're developing or grit in a toughness down there that I think is going to pay off down the road. I didn't the colts are vastly overrated. They went on a nice little run until they got shut out in Jacksonville. And I will say Andrew lock played better than I thought he was going to play this year, and Jacksonville do all you."
