Hedge fund Chatham plans to buy newspaper publisher McClatchy out of bankruptcy, ending 163 years of family control


News Room. Hedge fund manager Chatham Asset Management has emerged as the winner in a bankruptcy auction for McClatchy Company. That ends 163 years worth of family ownership for the newspaper chain. The sale announced by McClatchy today must be approved by the judge overseeing the bankruptcy.
