Listen: Red Sox, Sonny, Yankees discussed on Newsmakers
"This comeback. Pearce with his second of the ball game totally out of bed way. So Pierce got the Red Sox over the hump their and they rolled from that point forward. Richard fifteen to seven was the final score. But what what does this mean for the east race? I mean six and a half game lead now for the Red Sox. I mean, I've, I've been saying all along. I don't think either these clubs runs away and hides, but hey, maybe one of these clubs runs away knives because the Red Sox of just been unstoppable. And it could be that this is one of those years where the Red Sox just a special team, they're winning games at a historic rate. They had an under the radar trade deadline on Tuesday night after my piece was posted on MLB dot com. Not listening. The Red Sox is one of the trade deadline winners. I heard from guy with the Red Sox, and he said, think you're selling a short buddy. We got St. peers who is a very functional player. I think he's opium is thousand against left handed pitching now. In the last years managers have figured out what a weapon he is, if used the right way, we got Nathan of all the of very functional guy. And then last night we went out and got a in Kinzler who upgrades dramatically at second base. We didn't get the bullpen arm we wanted, but we have a bunch of guys out there that are pitching on a high level right now. And if Joe Kelley gets it going, I think what the guy was saying was, if unless we get hurt, if Chris sale is okay, we might be unbeatable this year. So we'll go see what St. pierces night. He had a great night and in it was a pounding. It was a weird game, you know, cici's a bath. The gets knocked out. Brian giants. Johnson has a tough time of it subbing for Chris sale, but survives and it was, I don't know what you thought it was in terms. If pace a game is your thing. It was at your game, but it was very entertaining. Yeah. And you know the Chris sale situation as we talked about the other day, that will be, you know, a big deal moving forward how quickly he comes back from shoulder inflammation. They don't seem to think it's a major issue just kind of being precautious there with with Chris sale. But obviously if that develops into something larger, that changes the complexion of that Red Sox rotation, but the Yankees have issues of their own. Before Thursday's game, they announced they moved sunny gray to the bullpen and Lance Lynn will take over in the rotation. But yet it just goes shot that they have not gotten the returns, the expected from Sonny, gray. Obviously what was the big trade deadline acquisition a year ago? They certainly made a lot of proactive moves this year to Lincoln that pitchy Steph with Lynn, of course, with Zach Britton. But you know, the keys have some words that's definitely shown. It's it's all relative because her around pace to win north of one hundred games, but they're just being steamrollered by the Red Sox right now. Yes, seventy six thirty four. I think that's the, you know, that's what you can't get away from the the Yankees are playing over six hundred ball, Sonny, gray. You know, I think some of us who had followed him in Oakland wonder, how's he? Gonna. New New York. It's a, it's a sea-change going from Oakland, and you know, he struggled at times out. There is last couple of years and then go to New York, and he got the treatment on on Thursday in some of the New York papers. I mean, he got, he got battered. He found out like when you play New York, when you're a Yankee, you wear the pinstripes in in and you're good brother. It's it's a nice live. But when you walk off the man with a smile on his face, I mean, I don't know the what he's supposed to do. He he wasn't happy, but he did have a smile on his face and apparently that offended some of the boys with the typing writers upstairs and he got smashed. So I don't know what you do with him. Now going forward, it turns out, you know, we thought Lance Lynn would be a, you know, a luxury, six man in the rotation. All that a good swing guy of bulldog type guy.."
