Russia that is pretty much exactly where i am it's a great film asterisk is a terrific way to describe it though my experience in the fear watching this film was pretty much the split this developed over whether it's a good or bad movie whether it's overly obvious or a terrific piece of filmmaking is this split developed in my mind as i was watching it because part of me was sort of taking in the visceral experience watching this film i think it's incredibly shot and i think particularly as things start to disintegrate in the back half of the film there's just a degree to which the filmmaking becomes i almost rapturous it's it's amazing how well he keeps up that story it reminded me of children of man and some of those long take shots where he just coordinates these incredible moments of chaos that last forever and like walk you through a nightmare at the same time i found myself thinking the metaphor here is so obvious and so citing and so clunky and then i i got out of it and i read those wilkinson's piece over at fox explaining what the clunky metaphor was that i hadn't seen i have a different one and then i talked to energy han from measurable balkan i met at us screening and we talked about the sort of the over obviousness of it and she said i've had five different people tell me the metaphor than this thing is way too obvious and i asked each one of them with the metaphor was and they told me five different answers absolutely correct that is the exact experience so they had i went to see this fell later than everybody of the festival is actually be last film i saw at the festival in my two roommate's noory and mike dangelo had seen it before me and i i got into talk about the film.
