Max Planck Institute, Muhammad Nikos, Intelligent Systems discussed on The TWIML AI Podcast
All right everyone I am on the line with Muhammad Kobe Bash Nikos autonomous you and Michael. Black. They are with the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems, and we're here to talk about their most recent paper, a paper called vibe that we will get into and more detail butt? Muhammad Nikos and Michael Welcome to the podcast. Thanks. During us. Awesome. Let's start by having each of US share a little bit about your background and your role at the Max Planck Institute, and what got you what in your background led you to this work and what your general research interests are. Muhammad, want, we start with you. So I am Ahmed Khwaja bunch I'm currently a student in Blank Institute for Intelligence Systems in perceiving systems department in Computer Vision and graphics research. Up So. I. Did my bachelors in Computer Engineering in Stumbled Technical University in Turkey and my master's in Middle East Technical University in Turkey again. So during my bachelor. So I tried to explore different areas that it is interesting for me ranging from robotics be through computer vision and machine learning. I continued for muscles degree in competition machine learning, and I started working on human poses made its mission which has broader implications and application areas, and in the community and yeah, and then I started doing a PhD again in the same topic. Thank you Nicholas. Show Hi, I'm Nicole Donahue. So I also doing student, the Max Planck Institute. I mean my first year. So a little bit about my background DI- STI- completed my Grad, my bachelors and Masters Degree in computer engineering in Greece in National Technical University. During the first year of my research, it's I've started doing grace. It's basically a natural language processing. But then a wanted to combine natural language processing machine learning with Computer Vision Show I, started my beads the much institute. I'm currently working on motion understanding the golding and how are we can combine motion actions with the language semantics. I would like to combine Musi learning and mathematical modeling with the human interaction. I think that's the most interesting part of the machine learning. Researchers and that's why I follow the AIDS, the degree and started last September. Awesome. Awesome. Thank you Michael. Michael Black I'm. Director at the Max Planck, Institute for Intelligent Systems. And I've been working on problems in human motion estimation since the early nineteen, Ninety S. And I became interested in in human motion because computers can't really understand US and before partners with us until they understand our facial expressions, how we move how we interact with the world and motivated by aristotle who said to be ignorant of motion is to be ignorant of nature and I, think almost all my research focuses on housings move and trying to get computers to understand that motion. A. Little Bit about my background I lived all over the place educated in the US and Canada and. Came to Germany about nine years ago I was a professor at Brown University. and. Been in Germany since two thousand eleven and came here to co found this new institute for Intelligent. Systems? That brings together scientists studying artificial intelligence and robotics, and using techniques all the way from machine learning like we're talking about here to physical systems where they make new materials for software botox on a very interdisciplinary and exciting field. So. Muhammed. You mentioned that your area of interest is in pose estimation and affect the paper that we're..
