Listen: President Trump, Leslie Cockburn, Michael Medved discussed on Michael Medved
"About the the amazing results of this. Election would surprising all across the country. Talking about one of the candidates. I cared about the Bigfoot erotica candidate Denver Riggleman. Who's a good guy, by the way? And it's not true that he was never a professional pornographer anything like that. And he s he is interested in sasquatch as I am. Here's a Republican nominee in blitz. A fifth district in Virginia. And he was running against one of the most left wing. I mean, really the most left-wing of all candidates nominated for anything. Her name was Leslie Cockburn. She pronounced Coburn is written out. Cock burn. But Leslie Cockburn is the mother of the Hollywood actress Olivia Wilde. And Leslie Hobart has kind of wild with a history of profound anti-americanism and profound anti-israelism and she lost. And this was raised that the Democrats have been counting on winning and one that they lost. There were wins and losses across the country. Some of them said some of them wonderful like the Riggleman Cockburn race, but all of them resulting in what a lotta people will be a more functional situation in Washington DC. Now, how could that be with a divided congress? We will get to that. Let me go first to atom in Atlanta atom, you're on the Michael Medved Show. A california. Don, you're on the Medved show. Hi, Michael, thanks chicken. My call. You bet. You know, not only was this not a Blue Wave, but the house retiring House Republicans essentially gave this election away because they lost the power of incumbency, which is huge in an election like this. And I have a prediction to make which is that the Democrats are going to continue this dog and pony show for the next two years. And Donald Trump is going to replace the lost House Republicans with ones that are more favorable to him in two years, and they will sweep it right back again. And of course, that depends on what happens in the presidential race. But it's a very real possibility the Washington Post, which is very anti-trump and very anti Republican is, you know, wrote a piece saying that of the twenty likely house pickups that the Democrats had most of them would be very very hard to replicate in two thousand twenty for various reasons, and you might be right. It's a, and when you talked about the house GOP giving this away you're talking about the forty one retirements the people who walked away because part of them part of it was people who walked away because. Under the house rules had been come in with Newt Gingrich who couldn't have more than six years as a committee chairmanship, and a lot of the people who were committee chairs. We're ready to hang it up in any event. I think given the fact that we're likely to have a productive session of congress. I believe we are maybe they made the wrong decision. Let's go to Chris in Seattle. Chris you're on the Michael Medved Show. Michael Chris here, Michael I feel like you still don't get it with Trump. And here's why I agree with you the election. Last night was amazing. I woke up relieved in the same way that you did. And yet the first thing out of your mouth is that you you man has messaging about Jeff Sessions. It's not as messaging, I lament is firing the attorney general of the United States and stepping on his own lead. Give. Can I ask you question? Here's my point. Don't you get it though that his ability to do that? Whether it's the day after the election or a week after the election that is his appeal. He gets it. He he gets the borders. Get it. They're not as worried about this as you are. Okay. I understand. I follow politics, though, a lot most voters do not most voters don't even know who Jeff Sessions is I get that. However, people in Washington, do and people who President Trump has to work with do, and he is president of the United States. He's not a reality star anymore and his ability to get stuff done that he wants to get done including building the wall or finishing the Wallace. He puts it is dependent now in particular upon working with the congress of the United States and the idea of firing Jeff Sessions immediately after the election. I would I Don understand for the life of me. Is why wouldn't have been better to do that say on Monday of next week? In other words, doing it right now. Right after he does this press conference, and we'll play you some highlights and lowlights of that press conference. Is is just stepping on his own lead. And it's very hard to see just how this is helpful in some way. We will be right back on more of that. There is an interesting obsession on the democratic side. With beta Aurora, even though he lost last night. And if you want to talk about a different standard in the press. It's it's inconceivable that any Republican getting forty eight percent of the vote and losing would get the kind of during attention beta work, did, but he gave his speech to his supporters last night. And he broke kind of rule of politics and media, listen, all of you showing."
