Listen: Missouri, Jeff, Paul Finebaum discussed on The Paul Finebaum Show
"There was no tension. They said I think the phrase they use was there was no heat in the room is not a hostel situation at all which some of those can be, and that's that again goes back to why they were so surprised that the penalties were severe is. They were. From pure football standpoint. I mean, I I understand poll games the value. You always hear the extra the extra time. For younger players. But how would you say assuming they don't get this overturn the lack of a bowl game will impact the twenty nine thousand nine season. Well, this is a year where you've got a handful of not just seniors, but you brought in Kelly Bryant the graduate transfer quarterback from Clemson. And you know, you you really wanted to this is the year to capitalize kinda go. You know, go for broke they brought in a graduate transfer receiver from Arkansas as well. Heading twenty twenty is kind of seen as a little bit more of a transition from Zurich 'cause you're gonna have a new quarterback. You're not gonna have the veteran that they're going to go into the season with and this is the year. You wanna really have the chance to have a great year? And that's not to say, Missouri. Gonna you know should should be a candidate to win the east or to play in the playoffs. But you know, this is a team that has some potential to not have that chance would be really disappointing for the program. You know at the same time, there's a huge financial stake here for Missouri. Also when you don't play in the postseason when you're not postseason eligible, I should say the SEC has old MRs has gone through the last two years. If you miss out on up to eight to nine million dollars a year from Volpe outs from championship game payouts, and the college football playoff payouts for an athletic department, like Missouri that's been operating in the red the last two years, that's a huge figure. That's that's ten percent of their budget. And you know, you have to you you have to make up for that. Somehow. So it it'll be a painful process on onto ends not having a bowl, which isn't the end of the world your fans understand they know why? And then but also that the financial factor. Great point. Dave, thanks so much really enjoyed always chatting in thanks for setting the record straight on a lot of things. So we'll talk to you very soon. Great. Thanks ball. Great stuff from day matter. I think we have a better understanding, the Missouri situation still a mess still confusing and not over yet. You're listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. Jeff is in Columbus. Oh, you are on the air. What's going on Paul? Hey, jeff. Doing buddy, we are doing great. What about you? Hey, good. Hey, you know, I like to call in from time to time and hold some of these ESPN talking head the countable because we know they're going to keep the coaches and players accountable, and they're gonna always have opinion about them. But did you hear the crazy statement from your boy, the you hold in high esteem, Stephen a Smith about Dwayne half and leak friend? I missed it. I mean, he was on some show and tried to they were comparing like who would you take Murray or Kyle Murray or a Haskins, and he was saying that the wing has was a better runner than a passer. And I mean, I think he ran for like one hundred and fifty yards last year and through for over five thousand in most fans were kind of concerned, you know, about him now running the ball when they're running a a read option offense.."
