Listen: Florida, Alabama, LSU discussed on WGR Programming
"Depot. Now alongside Trevor madij Brad Edwards. Here's met Schick. Arkansas scored a touchdown. They're covering if you're interested in that fifty eight to twenty four deficit. Thirty four point deficit. The number was thirty four and a half slash thirty five to a tug of alloys day is over ten of thirteen three hundred and thirty four yards passing and four touchdowns. That's right. Ten pass completions for three hundred thirty four yards. Got more touchdown passes today than it has incompletions. And some of those are long. Either either vertical or a mid level past that he threw to allow the receiver to catch it in full stride. And so this guy it's one thing to throw bubbles grease. It ended up being seventy five yard touchdowns but fungal by Loa can drop that dime anywhere on the field. There's no doubt. It the way. He throws. That long ball is is just amazing to watch now on some of the backups. Otherwise known as starters for other teams to get another touchdown here. Again, Alabama fifty eight to twenty four with that lead. Got a wreck Bachup coming up later on today. In fact, a half hour away in Gainesville Ben hill Griffin stadium. We're number five LSU undefeated on the season visits. Number twenty two Florida. Andrea Adelson visiting Gainesville right now. So we'll visit with Andrea. Andrea. We're talking about Alabama you've covered some a bunch of teams so far this year. Do you see any team that gives them any sort of challenge? This year. I don't haven't seen one yet to be honest. And I've had a chance to see a couple of times in person. Now, I just think what Alabama does it is so different from everybody aside from the quarterback position. Which by the way, guys I feel like if the Heisman you right now would be an absolute run away for two. I can't even figure out who I'm gonna fill out my top five with for Heisman watch come Tuesday. But beyond that the way that he is playing right now in the way that the offense is playing just the level of execution on this team. I think that's just a completely different level than everybody else right now in. Yeah. I'm sure next David is gonna complain all the points that they gave up in this game. He's gonna ask us to write about negative thing. But that's the level of execution for me. When no starters are in. There is just headed shoulders above where everybody else is right now. And that's why I think allocates Alabama everyone else, and I have a heart. Time seeing who's going to be able to match up and give this team going into the fourth quarter at all the and you mentioned Clemson one of those teams that you know, you saw them last week, and they're probably not in the same. They might be in the same neighborhood. But you gotta take a few turns in the neighborhood to get to Clemson when you're visiting Alabama. Look the Clemson quarterback situation. You were the one who asked the question to dabble in the post game news conference last week after the win over Syracuse. You asked him about Kelly Bryant, he just said I'm done with it. That's the sound bite. That has made the rounds this week. We the level of concern is there at Clemson given their quarterback situation. Well, I think that they did as good a job as they could to sell chase Bryce last week and their post game comments, especially Dabo Sweeney who went on and on about how proud he was of the moment that shaped right, Pat, fourth and six paths that he made which was absolutely incredible. And honestly guys what I thought it shaped right twenty first came into the game last week. I never thought he would complete a pass like that. He was totally overwhelmed. But you him get more comfortable as that game progress and that four south has live on in Clemson history. At least if you listen to Davos, sweetie, but I don't think there's any question that they have done everything they possibly could speak to hammer home to Trevor Morris, whatever you do. Let's take every precaution. You can't do not get hurt. And that goes from how the slide whether it's smart to take off whether he should just throw the ball out of bounds or take a back if he might land in a way that will get him to hit in the head or the neck shoulder area. Dabo Sweeney said that this week 'cause they had to once again gold, whichever is. This team. That's not a knock on chase Bryce. But the fact remains there isn't a whole lot of experience on this team at the quarterback position, including Trevor Ward. So if we're talking about how they're going to survive remainder of the season, it has to be what Trevor Lawrence, and I don't think they want to have to rely on chase Bryce for the next eight weeks. Even though Dabo Sweeney said, yeah, we still good that we can win AD title. No matter who's taking snap behind center. It's gotta be Trevor Lawrence. And I think there's also crystallized how much they need their offensive line to step up and how much they need to rely on that running game behind Travis EPSN. Those guys should be the war workhorses on the team until they can get Trevor Ward or acclimated as a starting quarterback. Yeah. They wouldn't mind seeing chase Bryce get some action. But it would have to be in mop up duty. Let's get a three or four touchdown lead. And then and then get chased some action Clemson is a three touchdown favored today at Wake Forest that game kicks off twenty three minutes away. Over on ESPN, Missouri, by the way, blocked a punt of South Carolina. Got a touchdown on the ensuing dry went for two failed. So they trail right now to South Carolina, Missouri does a thirty one to twenty nine that is in the fourth quarter. Elsewhere in the SEC number five L issue number twenty two Florida. Andrea, I just I'm in this group of people that I'm describing waiting for LSU to just kinda stub their toes. So that we can say see this team isn't as good as their record might indicate. Where do you come out on LSU? I picked Florida. So I guess. That's right. And I wasn't alone. And picking Florida this week. I saw a among our ESPN experts or a few others who were with me in this. And look I think based on what we saw out of Florida defensively these last couple of games, I think that they're going to give Joe Perot a run for his money. I really do. We're talking about an aggressive for defense fourteen takeaways on the season, they really handle Mississippi State last week and Todd random I think has done a really good job knowing when to be aggressive with this unit the white moments. I know he gets a lot of flack for sometimes maybe being too aggressive. But I think in this game they are going to have to go after Joe borough an obviously shutdown that running game the key. Of course is going to be this a chess game between handball in on offense. And Dave Aranda Florida last week to a really good job. Neutralizing some excellent pass rusher. Mississippi State by doing these short quick passes that might work again. But you have to expect a Dave Aranda is going to be looking for that. And it's fucking his LSU defenders looking for that. But in this day, I think the difference is going to be Florida special teams and defense and it's gonna be a low scoring game. That's why I picked Florida win. Sorry to interrupt here. Alabama has just scored a touchdown with two minutes ago. They lead sixty four twenty four the line was thirty four and a half. So they are in a good position there with less than two minutes to go. Andrew, I know you don't care about that. But we've been teasing that all show. So we really had to had to interrupt that. All right, LSU, Florida. We've hit on that. What else? Do you have your eye on today here? What what's kind of the big story line here? You think is is coming out of this week six, obviously, I think Notre Dame at Virginia Tech tonight. That's our time up and already there's been a lot of talk because we love talking about what's going to happen in the playoffs. If there's an undefeated Notre Dame and there's an undefeated Clemson. And maybe we're fighting for the last spot and who's going to get in. Well, if you look at the schedule for Notre Dame, this is one of the tests that they have left, and there are some people who pick for genius second this game. I ended up going game up. Virginia Tech is a team that. Can't quite figure out just yet. They go from losing an Old Dominion, and then they decisively beat Duke last week on the road with a backup quarterback. I do think that bud foster is gonna have something for the Notre Dame offense because he is a master at really coming up with excellent game plan to slow down offenses that come on. But a lot of hype. And I felt like that's what's going on with Notre Dame right now with the change of quarterback that they've had with Ian book. But I just think that Notre Dame right now is a complete team. And they have been tested in ways that maybe Virginia Tech has when we're talking about elite competition, and it's gonna be loud lane stadium is going to be rocking. I think it's going to be an electric awesome atmosphere. But if Notre Dame win this game, and you look at what they have less coming up on the schedule. Then I think all this talk about whether or not Notre Dame is a playoff team. That's only going to increase and amplify. I had in my top four last week based on their win last week. And. If they beat Virginia Tech, I'm gonna continue to have their my top four because I just think their resume to the point is really strong. And I think that people are going to keep talking about that. And that's why I think that game tonight is so important when we talk about the playoffs they have the resume. And now they're getting the look because of the change at quarterback getting the look of a contender of a potential top fourteen. Andrea Adelson at LSU and Florida that game coming up kicks off in about twenty minutes. From now, Andrew will let you go watch that one. Thank you very much. Thank you. Appreciate it. Adelson joining us here on the shell Pennzoil performance line on college game day on ESPN radio built by the Home Depot. Number died. West Virginia thirty eight to twenty lead on Kansas, Arkansas, doing whatever they can to make everyone who had Alabama minus the thirty four and a half or even the minus the thirty-five."
