Listen: Dr Bob Thompson, Middle School, Hulu discussed on Joel Riley
"Dr Bob Thompson and holiday weekend is up. So how about some? Here's what to watch suggestions worse. Bob actually Friday last week the eighth when we talked to to new shows dropped one on Hulu a third season of something on Netflix. They were both really good. But I haven't watched them yet because it was still eight thirty five on a Friday. The first is Hulu this very naughty tight. Title ten fifteen and ten episodes, and it's fascinating and don't watch it with seventh graders. But it's a fascinating series about seventh grade and middle school one of the most interesting things I've seen yet. And what's really interesting is the two thirteen year olds are played by two thirty one year olds completely convincingly. See that's the thing when you when you got a a show set in middle school, and you preface it with don't let your middle schoolers watch it. It's interesting. Well, you know, there's a lot of things, and and maybe that may be me being way to kind of picky about this. I'm sure many parents would be perfectly happy to well. Let their middle schoolers their thirteen year olds watch this. But I think there's a lot of things that we have in retrospect about middle school that we would be weary of sharing with middle school. I understand. But I mean is it risk is it sex filled. I mean, what is it that gives you the? Episode three which is really interesting. But you know, now that you bring this up. I think you're right. I if there's nothing in this thing that a thirteen year old doesn't already know. And for me to say, you shouldn't watch it with your thirteen year olds. Let me let me change it. Okay. For your thirteen year old to watch it. You don't want to be in the room with your thirteen year old got so they might actually be living this, and you just don't wanna know about. Well, I guess that's kind of maybe what I mean. Wow. You're you're revealing all of my issues. Just trying to figure out if I want to see this these women who made this show. Of course, we're basing it on their own middle school experience. Okay. But I suppose we've got this idea. What kids shouldn't shouldn't be watching? But I I think you're absolutely right. I can see this argument to you one hundred percent, okay. And the two thirty one year olds that are playing thirteen year olds. Is it a is a man and a woman a do girls? Do men what women who are best friends, and they have now exceeded in my affection, Lucy NFL Laverne, Shirley and Marion road, they are a real interesting. Couple of women my Erskine, and Anna concl- and Anna Koncos mother plays her mother on the show as well. Well, and how old is mom my mom's sixty planes, somebody in her thirties. What's that is mom is sixty plane someone in her thirties? No, she seems to be playing someone about her own age, which is interesting. But that that's possible as well. I got you. And if I'm gonna flip pass that what else would you recommend for the weekend the third season of one day at a time. And if you haven't watched this yet, and you still think of that old seventies one day at a time, which was kind of a cheesy sitcom the new version of this that debuted way back in two thousand seventeen it's an its third season is really one of the best things on television. It's an old school sitcom, but it transcends with that original did in all kinds of fascinating ways. Do they have tracked laughter or live studio audience or anything? Yes. It's very kind of three Cameron Norman Lear who's in his nineties is actually still got his name on the credit. But of course, the Cuban American family this time it set in Miami is opposed to Indianapolis. And if you haven't started yet I'd recommend going from the beginning and give it three or four episodes because I think it's really something special. Will I like the Schneider character? Oh, you'll be. Surprised if you haven't seen it yet about the Snyder? Okay. So there's a couple of tips for you. Bob have a great weekend.
