Listen: President Trump, Brick Cavanaugh, George Popadopoulos discussed on State of the Union with Jake Tapper
"Who do you think he told there is an individual named John Mashburn who worked on the campaign now works the department of energy. He testified before the Senate Judiciary committee. If you months ago according to the New York Times that he remembers an Email from popadopoulos claiming that the Russians had Hillary's emails is John Mashburn somebody that that you think he told. We've gotten some documents Mr. Papadopoulos we'd love to talk with him as well on the Senate intelligence side, but one thing that's fairly clear. This is an ambitious, ambitious guy who wants to be a player in the Trump campaign. He trumpet chosen him as part of his foreign policy team. It just stretches. I think most people's credibility that popadopoulos had this knowledge and he wanted to try to further ingratiate himself with the campaign that he wouldn't have shared that with somebody on the campaign. But you don't know of any evidence proving that he did share it with anybody. I will, I believe, and I will leave that to the Muller investigation with all of the people who are now flipping on this president. And I think starting to come clean. My hope again is that Muller will move expeditiously on these matters. Okay. And the non stop it. And the New York Times from senior Trump administration official this week sent the White House. Spinning Kellyanne Conway said this person up ended Washington. The official wrote that here. She and others are quote working diligently from within to frustrate parts of his agenda. The president's calling for this person's name to be revealed for the sake of national security. Do you see it as an security threat. No, I don't Jake. But again, I don't think we have to be willing again to step back the last three months. We've had the president with a disastrous policy in terms of separating kids from their parents at the border. We had the embarrassment of the president kowtowing to flat him Putin in Helsinki. We had this zig zagging on his trade and tariff policies we've had as I indicated already the the. Guilty pleas of some of his senior campaign and personal lawyers. We've had the horrible treatment of John McCain after past, and now we've had the Woodward book and this this op-ed come out. Clearly, you've got a president who's lashing out. He's lashing out in terms of whoever wrote the bed, and I wish the person would have revealed their identity, but you've also got the president attacking his Justice department and also attacking the Justice department for in diving Republican congressman on graft. Does this president not understand that the Justice department is not a tool of his own personal power. That is one of the reasons why I think you're seeing not only Republican members, but what appears to be a lot of folks in the White House have real concerns about this present stability Senator. Let's turn to the president's nominee of the supreme court break on this week senators, Dianne Feinstein and Patrick layhee or suggesting the brick Cavanaugh might have perjured himself saying, he quote misled the Senate giving quote on truthful testimony. Do you agree? Will you vote for Cavanaugh and if you agreeing that he perjured himself, will you support impeaching, Brad, Kavanagh. Judge Kevin all perjured himself. That's clearly disqualifying. I'm gonna go over the record. I wanted to go through the hearings I, but I'm strongly inclined to vote against judge Cavanaugh not only because of his views on issues like women's reproductive health and workers rights and gay rights. But I am very concerned that this judges outside the mainstream views on executive power with the president. That is this dangerous in many ways disqualifies disqualify. But I want to go over those hearings from last week and making announcement and a few days. All right, Senator Mark Warner of Virginia. Thank you so much. We appreciate it and you can watch more of my interview with George popadopoulos tonight at ten pm eastern only on CNN former President. Barack Obama hit the campaign trail actually backfire by rot, rallying Republicans. That's next. But first she's known as the notorious r. b. g. a closer look at the rise of Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg. I am proud to nominate this path breaking attorney advocate and judge to be the one hundred seven Justice to the United States Supreme, maybe trying time. Think how it was. As the judge didn't think sex discrimination existed what she was doing.."
