Financial counseling and help people to identify their own financial goals and build a plan to get to them. And in about fifty percent of those cases, we need to add a grant to it. In order to help them get like up to a level that will allow them to follow their plan for financial self sufficiency. Yeah. Unfortunately, there's a lot of people out there that take take just so much advantage of our service members. Right. I mean. Predators. They saw some of these pickup trucks in China and so forth in L signed him up for ten year loans and things like that. Right. It does happen. Yes. Now, look at it. So we just talked to a young man who got it got a new car. Yeah. Right back here. There's a young lady that told her you're three thousand dollar giant cardboard check what's scholarship on near. Yeah. This is one of the farmers insurance programs that they're doing right now. And so these she wrote an essay in her essay was selected as the number one essay on patriotism out of all the ones that were my gosh. Wow. Is so cool. Yeah. So what does having farmers involved with you guys mean, it's amazing? You know, we're we're one of the beneficiaries of the farmers insurance. Open support the enlisted project is and we are so grateful for the partnership of that organization, the century club and farmers insurance. Open their amazing. They really care. About our military, and they put their money where their mouth is. You can definitely see it happen. You've been with the program I've been with step for it'll be six years in may. So this is a huge event here and many military families are here. What's what exactly are they doing today? And what are they receiving? So there's several things that are going on. There's a little barbecue place that serving breakfast. So they can eat right here. There's also a Food Lion where they're distributing groceries that you can take home. So you can eat for the next week or so with the groceries Starbucks is donating some drinks and so forth with they've got a bunch of volunteers out here. So there's quite a bit going on to help families, and this is all being hosted by the armed forces YMCA. That's the other thing that I've never heard about the armed forces YMCA. Yes, it's a really it's one of our partner programs, and they're just awesome. Yeah. Great event. Thanks so much for what you're doing for our enlisted people. Absolutely. We're honored to do it. Thank you so much another era. Let's talk to this young lady here. I see you check money. You happen to be carrying a three thousand dollar giant check here. Right. Yes. Yeah. What's your name Glenis Cahoon? It's made out to there you go. Congratulations, by the way. So now you wrote an essay about patriotism. Yes. What was kind of the main idea? The main idea was what patriotism means to me. And how my dad has kind of shaped my view patriotism since he served in since he's serving in the military. Currently, what's what branch is he and he's in the navy the navy, man. I I mean, I've never seen an event like this where everybody's benefiting so much and we do a nationally syndicated veterans military radio show. So this is like this is fantastic. Well, she never answered my initial question. Can you borrow some money and get me some money? I kind of need it for college. Maybe maybe later where are you going to college? Hopefully, UC Santa Barbara fantastic. Congratulations. We understand your paper was just touched a lot of people. Yes. Thank you so much. Appreciate that. Farmers. People have been so great. And we got there a chief marketing officer, Mike lenton here. Mike, are you? I'm good. Thanks. Thanks for having me on the show. And I want to start with the fact that and I I don't know if a lot of people know this because there are other insurance companies to kind of lay claim to military and veterans, but farmers was started by two military people. Right. That's true quite a long time ago. But and we are very into the military. We recruit a lot fro for agents for military. We are doing blessings in a backpack actually read upstairs right now, which will go to the doors Miller school that is a military school. And we are we're going to the armed services YMCA actually tomorrow morning to distribute food to to military, folks. So, yeah, we we have a great pipeline with the military, and we really have found it. It's fabulous way for. For us to give back, and we get a lot from the military as well. So farmers really does a great job reaching out to the communities first responders. I mean this event is specially in that way. Isn't it? It's true. This is we like to say, it's it's more than about golf. And it's a lot about cough until we love this tournament. And it's it's really fun. But we also use this as a big charitable week for the company, and we are doing a lot of stuff this year around disaster preparedness disaster response, and then disaster recovery have Nick Schuler here with me who is a first responder. And we're going to talk a little bit about that. But this week the almost all of our work is about disaster preparedness response and recovery, and we have a lot going on and disaster response that's really cool to to take this opportunity for a big. Tournament like this to focus on that. And Nick, what is your position here in the fire community? So my name's Nick, sure. And I'm a deputy chief for Cal fire here in San Diego County. And so what does it mean to you guys to have a company like farmers in an event like this to put kind of spotlight and thrust behind you guys? Well, it's for farmers insurance to support five hundred first responders police fire from throughout southern California's a very special, but also these are people we work with day in day out. We see them on disasters we work together. And I think it's a great opportunity to continue building relationships with all of our partners in first responders rarely had their hands full here in California, recently, man. Yeah. This year, we've had the deadliest wildfire in California's history, the most destructive wildfire in California's history, and the structure that has the fire that is born more structures than anywhere else in California's history. So it's been a devastating year recovery. Still continues. There's a lot of people out there that have suffered significant losses. But we're really working to prepare ourselves. And really if they've not living in California if you've not been affected by a wildfire. You will be at some point in your life for the soup. Superhuman efforts of first responders would be the numbers would be a lot worse. Well, what we've seen this year every year? Firefighters say it's never can't get worse than what we've seen in. Unfortunately, it continues to get worse. So it's important to have good coordination between fire and law enforcement. And also our partners not only from the insurance companies, but from all other aspects of public service and just to kind of underscore what farmers gets in there in in. Does you know, it's not it's not just words. We talked to is the Gilbert's great story. My gosh, we talked to them yesterday. And after their disaster in Houston. Farmers comes in and not only comes in and makes everybody feel good but pitched in I mean, the volunteers the farmers employees everybody pitched in and then Rickie Fowler. The pro golfer came in what a great story that was. Yeah, thanks for bringing that up. We so the disaster recovery is is it takes a long time. And we have our our. Mobile claims bus. We have a lot of work that goes on there. And we're very proud of that work. We also know that it's a longtime for community to rebuild. And so we spend a lot of time and farmers volunteers. Go out and have built houses at in Joplin and now in Houston and also in New Jersey, but now in Houston and Houston Rickie Fowler who is brand ambassador. We maybe retired for Rickey. To was building a house and met the Gilbert's and. The six year old is he has a heart condition, and they bonded, and they are out here. Now, we know that recovery isn't just physical recovery is also emotional recovery. And it takes a while for all that to get done. And and we like to think we can contribute a little bit. The six year old is Ricky Fowler. Now. Gear on he's got. I mean, I don't know if you saw if you happen to be at yesterday. The kids clinic and that was just outrageously find. That was great. Excuse me. The good thing about this story. Another good thing about that story is I didn't ask if they were policyholders. You're right. Pl in need, and you help them when we look at disaster recovery. It's it's so intense, and it takes so long eight we think it's crazy to get that specific on things like that. And also, I will say we're California company where have thousands of employees and agents in the state. So this year was particularly intense for us on a number of fronts, and so we're very thankful to the first responders. And and a lot of folks that also helped us out Nick another thing going on at the farmers insurance. Open today is the fact that his own on fourteen we're the birdies or or what what hole is that fourteen. And for every birdie during the tournament, the first responders get a thousand bucks. Yeah. That's a great opportunity for that money to go to a really good cause and again to have farmers insurance partner with the fire community and the police to thank you guys for the time. And thank you guys short for what you're doing. And thanks for having us here. This is a fabulous time and. There's nothing better. We'd like to talk about than people helping veterans and first responders. So thank you so much. Thank you very much for having a thanks for having us. Have a great time. We'll be right back here in the national defense..
