Listen: Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, Jimmy Garoppolo discussed on The Herd with Colin Cowherd
"In Los Angeles iheartradio Fox Sports, radio Neff s. one Plaxico Burress Joel Klatt diangelo Holland. Five minute has faced many of these young quarterbacks tomorrow. Sam darnold goes to Cleveland. Great defense take on the Browns. Joy. Taylor is joining me in our number two, a very lively first hour in which as I drove to work this morning, you know, a lot of times like a Monday or Tuesday, I drive to work knowing during the football season. We have a lot of topics twenty get into like Wednesday's mid week for me. Oh, is there a good topic developing? And one landed in our lap, Ian O'Connor, a guy, known respect. A lot wrote a new book about Bill Belichick and it's basically Bella check the making of the greatest football coach of all time. Three hundred and fifty people interviewed. There's a couple of interesting quotes the first one that I just utterly dismayed by is that somebody on the New England staff said the. General feeling is we couldn't win the Super Bowl with thirty two quarterbacks. But if you gave us the top fifteen, we could do it. Bob, Kraft thinks Tom's the greatest gift ever. The coaches don't the other quote or the other part of the book. That's interesting to me Brady could not walk away at talks about this earlier in the article. He could not walk away from the game. He could not ask for a trade the moment, Bella check. It says here traded Jimmy Garoppolo to San Francisco, and they banked on Brady staying to play forty forty one forty two, which he often said he knew Brady knew he was trapped if he left. If he demanded a trade, the the Boston fans who love him and adore him and worship him would turn on him. The mob would turn on him. Tom forced out Garoppolo. Now Tom's leaving. We're a mess. So Brady felt trapped. Here's the thing about this. This happens a lot in a lot of businesses and a lot of marriages Bill and Tom, at this point, they're stuck with each other. They really are. So let's first address Bill ballot check. Okay. Where's he going to go. Oh boy loves the New York Giants. He li- Manning's or quarterback. He Bill Belichick got fired in Cleveland when he had old unsuccessful, quarterbacks Manning's a shot fighter Bella check. There's nowhere to go right now that has a great quarterback that's dying for a coach. And even, you know, I mean, people say, what about Denver case keenum? You can go from Tom Brady to case keenum. You go from Tom Brady Jimmy Garoppolo to case keenum you're not. No, that's not going to happen. So now let's address Tom Brady. Where would Tom go? We'll Tom Brady would obviously the most important thing for Brady would be, can I get an offensive guy who I can work with? Because Tom, at this point is forty years old. He's not messing around with new head coaches in new coordinators. So he would work with Andy Reid. One of the great play designers, Andy Reid, got Patrick, Mahomes got its guy. He would work with Sean McVay who he respects Sean McVeigh's. Got Jared Goff. He's got his guy. He would work with. Kyle Shanahan who Shanahan's Garoppolo. He's got his guy. He would work with Sean Payton. Well, drew Brees has a couple of years left. So the guys that Brady would want to work with because remember, Brady has fought to keep Josh mcdaniels. The number one thing to Tom is gotta have my guy. I'm not babysitting coaches here.."
