Listen: Ucla, Earl Watson, LA discussed on The Kevin Sheehan Show
"Oh, or something like that to that would be I I'm very familiar. I'm very familiar with Cal slow versus Cal Fullerton. Some of the I've I've had all of them at various times over the years. But that's what it's turned into. It's just turned into part of that instead of being this crowns rule that it was when we were growing my God, it was it was the cry. I mean, it was a top five program in job when it became available. Now, Earl Watson apparently a lot of UCLA people want him. But he he he hasn't graduated yet. But he's on he's in the process of getting his degree personally. I think they should let him coach the team and get his degree in the process. Why I mean who cares at this point? It is a college. Kevin. I know it's a college, but he's working towards his degree as he's coaching the team. He's not a whatever we it's a college. You should have a college graduate as as an instructor. You really have to have that Tim basketball mine casting, you don't have to have a college degree to be a great basketball coach, you know, you don't. Okay. But you're not just a great basketball coach understand that you're working for a university. Okay. Fair enough. I just think if he's working towards his degree, and apparently getting close that they should just hire Watson who I think would actually be a decent. Coach no beard might take the job. You know, the other thing about UCLA if you ever watch their games, they have no fans. Yeah. There's there's no fan base for that program. Any more? It's a pro town. We know one we don't want fan. Doc walker. Of course, we know the dot doc doc is their Bill, but Walton duck. Here's the problem, though, with the UCLA job, if you're one of these coaches who has a pretty stable job where you are. Steve Alford just went to three sweet sixteens and five years. And he got fired now down they hated him. If that's the standard that you have to do better than that. If you have to get to a final four and your first four years or you're out of there. Why are you leaving able to really good point? I think that's the case in a lot of the coaches staying where they are Barnes's thing, Tennessee. All right now, Rick Barnes has has always preferred football, I schools, you know, it was pressure Ingraham and now and now Tennessee, Gary as mentioned before Barnes is the brilliant one out of all of us. He's gone to the places that can pay big. But there's no pressure to win. And then and then he's one look what he did in Texas. And it wasn't good enough. But yeah, I mean, that's a great point about offered. I mean, they had some good teams. Yeah. But you know, they also really don't there's not a passion for UCLA basketball in LA. There is a passion for you. Football in LA. I could be wrong about this. But I think we've had this conversation with, but you know, what people before LA people. But but as we've seen here that passion can change passion can diminish and US's endanger of that. I know. But yes, yeah. I mean, it can change. What what what what we what we we can't just count on it, especially in a competitive market before the Rams got there. And now they have to fulfill chargers. I think a lot of LA people would tell you that the Lakers were one in USC football was to in the NAFTA that it was a free for all including the dodgers that when USC was competing for national championships over that stretch right here in the two thousands that that was that was the order four million fancy. I know I know. Okay. All right. I'll get to my mock schedule. Here's a short egg moment a get to here shortly. And I also want to talk about Aaron Rodgers. And get your thoughts on you know, Rosen or your latest thoughts on Rosen's on Josh Rosen.."
